at least confetti is easier to clean up than the glitter that was released months ago. hey wayback you should send some glitter to your group it would be very fun and a good new years gift
Sorry.
…
…
…Are you—
Fine. Fu—just—perfect.
…
No, I don’t—what do you mean? So they’ve just decided to play nice with the guy they hate? What the hell?
It is unexpected, yes. And sudden. But not unwelcome.
It’s unwelcome to me. Literally—No Way Back, of all people, the one they can’t stand—they’re just good buddies with him now, I guess! They let him make fun of them. Whatever he did to get on their good side—I can’t possibly be just as capable! Funny how that works! I try and I can’t ever get even a semblance of respect—
…
Ugh.
…You know you don’t have to think of it that way. I consider it a good development. It means things are improving, even if we’re not there to witness it.
…
Sure. Whatever. So happy for Sep and their inspiring journey of self-improvement.
…Perhaps it could be a sign that not all is lost, is what I’m getting at. That one day, you two might grow to understand each other after all?
Understand—
Oh, Weaves.
That’s too hopeful, even for you.

honestly this was an otherwise interesting and good meta post but this fucking read from sp/rk fans drives me crazy, it turns every single one of those characters so one dimensional. McCoy actually does have an internal moral drive that has more criteria to it than How Can I Make Kirk Happy?
How do you ignore the character that he is so fully that you think this is the only reason he's willing to sacrifice himself? He does it at the drop of a hat if he thinks it's necessary. Spock was not wrong when he said McCoy had a martyr complex. When they ask McCoy if he has anyone he's willing to spare from the medical team and he says he can spare himself - is that because he knows losing the medical team would be harder for Kirk? When he tests the cure on himself in Miri is it only because it would be harder for Kirk to have the whole crew die? Arguably maybe it would!
But it's incredibly fucked up to think McCoy might not actually have his own opinions and limits and is unwilling to let people die or be hurt when he can do something about it when he quite literally is The Heart of the show, to Spock's Mind and Kirk's Body. like go on and say he knows it'd be harder for Kirk to lose Spock but just know that losing a mind leaves you brain dead, losing a heart kills you 🤷
#shockingly enough i know it's i guess cognitively dissonant for these people to here but he's a painfully and sometimes irrationally ethical#and compassionate character. that's literally his function in the story#also what kind of friends do you people have that make it so clear to you that your death would mean less to them than their partners#everybody needs to make people like that fuck off in their lives including mccoy if this was truly the dynamic between them

🌱 "Rewiring the Wobble: Your Neuroplasticity-Powered Ataxia Workbook"
When Your Body Feels Like a Glitching System
You know the drill: legs that buckle like a marionette with cut strings, hands that tremor over a coffee cup, and the crushing shame of “Why can’t I just… move?!” Ataxia isn’t just “bad balance”—it’s your nervous system stuck in a loop of misfires, turning simple acts into Herculean tasks. Doctors toss terms like “degenerative” or “idiopathic,” but what you need isn’t jargon—it’s hope.
Why This Workbook?
The Ataxia Workbook isn’t another generic exercise log. It’s a battle plan co-created by neuroscientists, PTs, and people who live this wobble. Inside:
🔹 Neuroplasticity Hacks:
Exercises to rewire your brain’s movement pathways (spoiler: small reps > perfection).
Balance drills that meet you where you are—bed, chair, or shaky standing.
🔹 Coordination Reboot:
Hand-eye tasks disguised as games (because rehab shouldn’t feel like punishment).
Adaptive tools to turn “I can’t” into “I’ll try this way.”
🔹 Symptom Sleuthing:
Track triggers (stress, fatigue, gravity’s bad days) to spot patterns.
Journal prompts to vent rage, grief, or that tiny win (held a spoon today!).
🔹 Mindfulness for the Storm:
Grounding scripts for when the room spins faster than your thoughts.
For Anyone Who’s:
Tired of being told “just practice more” without a roadmap.
Done hiding canes or apologizing for spills.
Ready to fight for progress, even if it’s measured in seconds.

i feel like it’s really easy for people to get the impression with my fua stuff that lancaster is my Favorite Character™️ and i do certainly love and think about him a lot and find him the easiest to make stuff for that Appeals To Me because LOOK AT HIM, but the character who is my genuine favorite that i find a lot of comfort in and adore so much that it loops back around to being unable to articulate anything about them is actually love. I cannot express how much i love her.
#babbles#find us alive#dr Lancaster#agent love#lancaster is the guy i like to poke with tweezers. love is my beating heart and soul#as you can predict im really normal about their friendship too and it’s my fav in the show…#i kind of imagine them with a queerplatonic sort of bond if only because i imagine their relationship is a really unique one among the 14bs#lanc getting love into therapy. love being the one there when lanc got -3’d.#love being the one who wanted to still see him. love being the one to knock sense into him. lanc overseeing her in her coma.#lanc helping her regain her cognition. supporting her through her disability her supporting him through his containment#they even underwent horrific invasive medical procedures at the same time…#i think save for raddagher obviously lancaster is the one of the cast love is closest with#i will never be over ‘youv seen me at my worst and it’s all uphill from here’/‘youv seen me at my worst and stay anyway’ type dynamics#NOT A SHIP POST!!!! THEY ARE BOTH GAY!!!!!!!! I AM MUSHING THE GUYS WHO INFECT MY BRAIN TOGETHER!!!!!!!#i neeeeeeeed to draw emo art of them so hard.

this is a short essay response of a meta this is batshit insane. im still on my shadowgast honeypot meta. this makes no sense. i have. citations.
also i wholeheartedly believe that up until the nicodranas incident, caleb was never fully himself around essek because 1) his latent spy training alarm bells went off as soon as he met him 2) caleb is an ex-volstrucker in an "enemy country" where he knows there's an empire mole and knew that essek was hiding something. he didn't know what. i don't believe that he thought it was All That. but caleb is extremely paranoid. right are we following. meanwhile he and the rest of the m9 were getting into essek's head bc essek had thee distinct disadvantage of being 1) alone 2) very nervous all the time 3) juggling contact with the bright queen and da'leth and just like, having a Bad Time, and the m9 popped in and he realized "ohh some people don't spend their lives in social espionage hell" and proceeded to, not at first but eventually, also assume that caleb was included in that statement (dairon implied that someone, likely the empire mole, had to have given that volstrucker the shank, and it's not confirmed that essek did but like. he did. and then he got over that paranoia a little bit because caleb is a good actor) and anyway my point is. i don't think essek really saw caleb outside of that double honeypotting scheme (which was beginning to devolve into a one-sided honeypot, with caleb still on the job while essek was slipping) and half-made plans to get caleb killed, and probably the false security of working with him (and veth) to make that spell, My Point Is. essek slipped. essek fell for it. he didn't fall in love with caleb, but he liked him and saw him as a peer and a friend.
and then the first really barefaced, honest thing that caleb ever said to him was "yes, friend, what are you doing?" echoing essek's mention of having friends to da'leth, and then following that with "i would love for you to see the sunrise, so if there is a reasonable explanation, we would love to hear it" anyway the first time that essek really saw caleb as who he is- an actor stepping away from a role, a spy, a grim counterpart to jester's concern and compassion ("what are you doing?"/"do you want to sit down?"/"i hold his hand")- and someone who still despite all that wanted to think the best for essek because he had more or less up until that point fully duped the m9! caleb didn't suspect a thing, he was just being paranoid!
the. the first time that caleb dropped some of the act- he went from honeypotting him to handling a crisis, the crisis being "essek is freaking the fuck out and we don't have time for this, we are actively in peace talks and essek could blow everything up if he slips, so im going to say what he needs to hear", paraphrased from a talks machina that's probably off yt and i don't really care to look up, but he wasn't lying to him. he wasn't telling him that it was all okay, because it wasn't, but "the difference between you and i is thinner than a razor" is caleb recognizing what essek is and saying that he's barely any different, both in terms of atrocities committed (whether that's true or not is another story but my point is that caleb believes it) and in terms of the game they were playing - essek lost that game. bad. he lost it real bad.
essek sees caleb for the first time when he's been caught and the person that he thought of as a friend sits in front of him and flatly tells him "i am going to kill you unless you give me a reason not to, right now". that's caleb. that's Caleb Widogast™. that's the guy that made a deal with beau and fjord that they would keep each other on the right path. that's the caleb that wants to get rid of ikithon. that's the caleb who misses his parents. that's the caleb who has hope for astrid and wulf. he wants to have hope for essek too- "you were not born with venom in your veins, you learned it". he's not lying about having hope for essek, he's lying about how much hope he has. and he's trying, desperately, to instill some of that hope in essek. and isn't that. like. thee caleb thesis. determination, despite a lack of hope. "you and i are both damned, but we can choose to do something and leave it better than it was before".
#umm caleb is sooo much. he is so. single-mindedly determined to change the empire while he also 100% thinks he's a horrible person#that is some insane cognitive dissonance. i adore him#<- and that relates. to his dynamic with essek. it does#'you were not born with venom in your veins' he's lying and hes telling the truth and that applies to both him and essek. i hope this helps

Anon wrote: hello! so, for the longest while, i was convinced that i was an infp. but, very recently, i realised that the struggles that i was going through, the problems that were coming up repeatedly, seemed to be more indicative of ne-te loop. i didn't actually get very far with the function development guide once I'd determined myself to be an infp btw. life kinda got in the way.
anyway, this realisation prompted me to delve back into your type theory guide. for the past week or so, I've been going through it in detail with a clear mind, considering every single type as a possibility and rejecting them one by one according to the evidence I'm typing up. I'm still about midway through the inf functions in the proper procedure that I'm following, but i've skimmed that entire post and others, because there's a couple of questions that's been bugging me throughout.
I've more or less narrowed myself down to an xnfp, although like i said, I'm still open to considering other types as well. what I'm mostly stuck with is the following:
1. how is an enfp's ne-te loop going to look in contrast to an infp's te grip?
2. how is an infp's fi-si loop going to look in contrast to an enfp's si grip?
i understand that, of course, every person is a unique example of their type. but I've been stuck with these two points, since i couldn't find anything on your blog related to how a specific tert function's loop looks in tandem with the type's corresponding dom function. like, i know what te-loop looks like, but i don't know how it would work with ne dom. i suspect where i might have gone wrong with typing myself (if i was mistaken, like i said, i am still going through the theory guide intensively), was misidentifying si grip as fi-si loop.
if you do have any past posts that I've missed, I'd appreciate you redirecting me to them. and i hope my doubt is clear, and that you'll be able to help me out. thank you!
-----------------------
As far as I can tell, there are several issues to address:
1) Overemphasis on how functions "look": This usually means you're too focused on outward behavior (superficial) and not really understanding how functions operate inside the mind (fundamentals). Until you are able to draw a proper distinction between cognition and behavior (which is the first major principle that I teach in the Function Theory guide), your focus will likely be misplaced on the what and then missing the why. Asking "what does my Te look like?" won't get you as far as asking "WHY do I use Te in this way?" Basically, you're not going deep enough.
2) Not accounting for Function Dynamics: Newbies often get stuck on viewing functions in isolation, which exacerbates problem #1 above. Once your learning becomes more advanced, you'll understand that functions are dynamic and intertwined. For instance, tertiary loop and inferior grip are very different because the function interactions that produce them are very different:
- Tertiary loop arises due to a unique relationship to i) dominant dysfunction, specifically dominant immaturity, and ii) auxiliary underdevelopment, specifically auxiliary resistance. Thus, evidence of tertiary loop must also include evidence of those two issues, which I have already included in the guide under the dominant and auxiliary function sections. These three parts must fit together properly.
- Inferior grip arises due to dominant dysfunction, specifically dominant extremes that create a troubling imbalance. One reason people find themselves in dominant extremes is because they're trying to force the function to work in unsuitable ways/situations, which causes escalating problems with stress, to the point of not being able to cope and adapt well. Thus, evidence of inferior grip must include i) evidence of dominant extremes, and ii) eventual loss of healthy dominant functioning, information which is already included in the inferior function section of the guide.
3) Not accounting for Type Dynamics: Type dynamics refers to the theory of the functional stack, of how the whole is more than just the sum of its parts. Each of the four functional stack positions serves a unique and specific purpose in your psychology with regard to what the ego needs and wants, which is briefly explained in the beginning of each stack position section, as well as the type dynamics section of the Type Dev guide.
For example, the proper purpose of the tertiary function is to complement and temper the auxiliary function. However, tertiary loop means that this healthy dynamic is altered and the tertiary function is being misused for a different and more nefarious purpose of propping up a failing dominant function.
This goes back to point #1 above of not grasping the "WHY" - what is the purpose of each function in the mind? It's very important to ask yourself WHY you are using the function in that particular way, in relation to the other functions. To what end or to what purpose is the behavior meant to serve?
.
It looks like all the information you need is already included in the study guides, so perhaps you have only been picking out some superficial points about the "look" of functions and ignoring the more important theoretical concepts that would help you understand WHY functions look a particular way. The problem with not reading the guide all the way through to full understanding before you start doing the hard work of analyzing yourself is that you won't see the bigger picture of how all the parts are meant to fit together.
Psychology is complicated, so function theory isn't exactly easy to learn. There are many levels of comprehension and you're still at the beginner level. It's certainly not a crime to be a beginner, since we all have to start somewhere. However, don't sabotage yourself with poor learning methods such as disorderly/unfocused reading, taking shortcuts, or thinking that the "gist" equals complete knowledge - these are common learning obstacles for NPs.

The Psychology of Conformity: Why We Follow the Crowd and When We Shouldn’t
🔍 Why Do We Conform? Ever found yourself agreeing with the majority even when you weren’t sure? Maybe you’ve nodded along in a meeting, followed a trend, or stayed silent in a debate—just to fit in. 💡 Conformity is a powerful social force that shapes our decisions, often without us realizing it. While it can create harmony, it can also suppress individuality and critical thinking. 🚀 In my latest blog, I explore: ✅ The psychology behind conformity (normative vs. informational influence) ✅ Why cognitive dissonance tricks us into justifying our choices ✅ How to resist social pressure and encourage diverse perspectives ✅ 3 key strategies for better group collaboration 👉 Read the full article here: 🔗 [Insert Blog Link] 💬 Have you ever conformed in a way you later regretted? The Abstraction Gap: Understanding the Relationship Between Biological and Artificial Neural Networks
The human brain is a complex and intricate organ capable of producing a wide range of behaviors essential to our daily lives. From the simplest reflexes to the most complex cognitive functions, brain activity is a dynamic and ever-changing process that is still not fully understood. Advances in neuroscience and artificial intelligence have led to a new perspective on brain function that emphasizes the importance of emergent dynamics in the generation of complex behaviors.
Emergent dynamics refers to the collective behavior that arises from the interactions of individual components in a complex system. In the context of the brain, emergent dynamics refers to the complex patterns of activity that arise from the interactions of billions of neurons. These patterns of activity lead to a wide range of behaviors, from the movement of our limbs to the perception of the world around us.
One of the most important challenges in understanding brain function is the time warp problem. This problem occurs when the cadence of a stimulus pattern varies significantly, making it difficult for artificial intelligence systems to recognize patterns. Neuroscientific evidence has shown that the brain can easily solve the time warp problem. This is due to the brain's emergent dynamics, which allows it to recognize patterns that are not fixed in time but dynamic and can change in tempo.
In the context of artificial neural networks, the concept of emergent dynamics can be applied to develop more sophisticated artificial intelligence systems that can learn and adapt in complex environments. By understanding the collective dynamics of neurons in the brain, researchers may be able to develop artificial neural networks that can detect and respond to time-varying stimulus patterns, develop goal-directed motor behavior, and even perform simple reasoning and problem-solving tasks.
The relationship between abstraction and scalability in neural networks is complex. While artificial neural networks can be scaled to handle large amounts of data, they lack the ability to abstract from the details of the input data, which is a key feature of biological neural networks. To bridge this gap, researchers must prioritize developing artificial neural networks that operate at higher levels of abstraction, allowing them to efficiently process and represent complex information.
The emergence of complex behaviors in the brain is a fundamental aspect of its function. By understanding the collective dynamics of neurons in the brain, researchers may be able to develop more sophisticated artificial intelligence systems that can learn and adapt in complex environments.
The implications of emergent dynamics for brain function and artificial intelligence are significant. By applying the concept of emergent dynamics to artificial neural networks, researchers may be able to develop more sophisticated artificial intelligence systems that can detect and respond to time-varying stimulus patterns, develop goal-directed motor behavior, and perform simple reasoning and problem-solving tasks.
