no one drinks water on europa. thermo suits suck up anything from your body that they can, it's like having an extra kidney. your sweat, your tears, blood, anything. it gets filtered, sterilized, and sent straight into your veins through an iv - no point in wasting time swallowing.

for food, they just poke a hole into your esophagus and pray it won't get infected. when warmies start complaining about not getting to eat real food anymore, they get called taste-oids. it pisses off anyone that had just managed to forget about it.

the thermo suit doesn't warm u to a comfortable temp either. they use some kind of medication that lets you maintain homeostasis while at low body temps. your nerves still feel the cold, but coldheads are used to it after a few months. when their contract's up and they get sent back, it's cheaper to put them in cryostasis than to have to feed and water them, since they're already resistant anyway.

if a coldhead manages to get back to cradle, they have trouble using their mouth for swallowing and the smell of anything makes them wretch. most of them still keep their plugins.

no one comes back from europa as a human, coldheads come back as some butchered insect missing its exoskeleton.

PERSONALITY

-Probably the one with the worst temper inside the team, even though he is a medic, he has little to no patience with stupid situations with the recruits. Even with the rest of the team he usually is not very patient, except when they are on a mission or just arrived back from one. And in despite whatever he says, he helps with some stupid things time to time.

-He is the most distrustful, he never end trusting completely in any person outside the team. More with woman, due to his childhood. At first Jackson didn't trust Alicia, and even after years since the Specters were created, he still has moments where the trust he have on her shakes.

-On a mission he leaves every prejuice outside and just focus on helping the soldiers, he gets coldheaded when he is on frontline with the infantry.

BIOGRAPHY

Born in Chicago, Illinois, he is an older brother. His childhood wasn't anything to be happy about, even though his father loved him and his sister, his mother was other story. She treated Leah as a normal child, but she treated him as absolute trash even though he didn't do anything to deserve it.

Beatings, starvation, burns, insults and more was something normal inside the house, and it was worse since his father was away for work. The hitting stopped once he became taller and stronger, but the damage was done inside his mind and body. A physical mark he has is a burn on his neck, made with a cigarette when he was twelve.

As soon as he was old enough to run away, he did and decided to be as far as possible from there, and enlisted to the Navy. The basic training was exhausting but he never backed off and took the first opportunity to get inside a ship. It was liberating and for the first time in years he felt alive, and when they assigned him to California, Jackson was almost bouncing with excitment.

After two years in the Navy, he decided to change and become a medic, so he studied on the side while serving. Soon started inside the medic bay and there he found out about his fear, he felt almost paralized when he had to help a female patient, and his mind always brought him back to his childhood but he kept the composure and did his job.

Apart of it, he never spoke or even got near the female sailors, which made him a bit of an outcast inside the ship, but he was good on what he do. During one of his leaves, he went to Chicago just to see what was happening inside the city, and crossed paths with his father. It was akward but they talked after Nick basically begged him, there he knew about the divorce of his parents, Leah going with Nicoletta and Nick trying to contact him.

They are on low contact, only talking during christmas or birthdays.

More time passed, years where he climbed until being a Sergeant, and he became a SEAL, assigned to Team 3. His first mission with the SEAL 3 was 'Operation Firewall', with the team sent to Morocco to raid a possible refuge of the objective. There he stayed for two years until Alicia and Luke went to talk with him. His first impression of his Captain wasn't good, the fear came back and that got on top of the stories he heard about her.

He never told anyone after, but he heard about Alicia before met her and it was from a member of the recon team who found her long ago. He was told about the state they saw her, and the way that man shivered gave him a hint of how bad really was it.

Jackson at first didn't feel confortable with Alicia around unless someone else is there too, but slowly he has tried to talk with her after the time he encontered her in the middle of a horrible nightmare. Since the start of the team until the present day, he has being careful as he related with the team but he has befriended Luke after sometime and he get along with everyone, even teasing Elliot about their first reunion.

Now he's more confortable with Alicia, maybe not as Luke or Edward, but he now can pass time talking with her for a good while.

-Has had some missions on every kind of environment, and so he became adaptable into every situation. However he prefers naval environments for obvious reasons.

COMBAT

His combat style is focused on defense. He uses the military combat he was teached, and his first choice weapon is a Bowie knife too. Alexamder offered to teach him MCMAP, but he declined, not really interested.

TRIVIA

-He swears that he has grey hairs from leading with all of them, but is just being dramatic. Behind the rage, he's actually amused about the things some recruits do. He doesn't really want to have them in the bay, from there he really doesn't care.

-Elijah, Marcus and him pass the time watching k-dramas, and the three of them get really invested when they found a good one. Once they convinced Luke, Alexander and Francis to join them, now sometimes the six of them watch some from time to time.

-The stress is something usual for Jackson, so he learnt about a LOT of techinques to reduce stress. They don't work for him, but he has helped everyone to find something to help with the stress. And keeps an unholy amount of stress balls, sometimes to squezze them, but has felt the temptation to throw them at someone's head.

-His callsign is a little bit obvious, but he thought on use Jackie at first. It didn't stayed more than a day.

-His favorite drink is iced coffee but also drinks some energy drinks even if he says those things are like poison. And his favorite food is spaghetti.

-Once he threw a book, a medicine book, right to Edward's head. The reason? He told once that it seems like Jackson tried to imitate southern accent and it didn't went well, also that he had a recording, so Jackson threw it to shut him up and save some dignity.

The Battle Chip of the Day is...

IceBall. This chip is a relatively infamous one, as progressing through the story of Battle Network 3 requires obtaining IceBall in the M code.

IceBall hurls a cold metal cannonball forward and creates a slippery Ice tile under it, dealing Aqua damage to anyone who gets hit - but it's very slow, so it's hard to use and there's generally better options.

Like all CannonBall type Chips, it has the Break property and pierces defenses like the Guard series of Battle Chips and deals a lot of damage.

CannonBall itself cracks the panel under your target - if there isn't anyone there, it simply breaks the panel.

There's a matching LavaBall which hurls a heated hunk of metal forward and creates - you guessed it - a Lava tile, which can then deal 50 damage to non-Fire-element targets if they step on it...unless they have FloatShoes, which disables negative panel effects.

Seeing as these chips only affect one panel at a time when you have a bevy of options for targeting entire rows or even the whole stage, they're not very useful, and if you're using one it's probably either out of respect for a theme or just because you enjoy the Chip itself.

Still, the damage isn't insignificant by any means. CannonBall deals 160, with IceBall dealing 120 and LavaBall dealing 140. Especially if you get effective damage on the elemental pair, 240 and 280 damage is a good hit!

The issue is that there's just better options which are easier to confirm given how long they take to land, as any Chip you have to throw for the attack is notoriously hard to land.

If you want a more useful Guard-piercing attack, you could use Condor, which has less wind up and pierces the entire row; or you could use a Shake-series Chip, which locks down a column as long as it's alive for 90, 110, or 140 per hit based on which rank of the Chip you're using.

If you're in need of a strong Fire-element attack, and you are truly partial to hurling things, I would suggest the Black Bomb series, which tosses an bomb waiting to be lit; once hit with another Fire attack, it explodes, dealing 120, 170, or 220 damage based on rank.

And if you're wanting to deal Aqua damage, you've got Wave for 80 damage which hits each row at least once but is blocked by broken panels; you've got the IceWave series which launches a giant snowflake for 80, 100, or 140 ranked damage; the Metagel series which steals non-broken panels and if someone's standing there, deals 90, 130, or 170 damage AND can form the Program Advance Gel Rain which launches six of these attacks for 150 damage each.

There are simply so many attacks that cover all the bases the Cannonball series is trying to fit in to that they end up not worth using.

...Which is why Capcom forced us to be aware of them I guess.

I mentioned earlier that you need an IceBall M to proceed in the game it's from. Well, this is because a kid sick with the same illness that killed Megaman back when he was Hub Hikari is giving up on caring about living and you can only make him decide to try new treatment if you prove there's kindness in the world. So you get him a Battle Chip he's always wanted.

By the way, Mamoru turns out to the system administrator for known the criminal & mafia hideout, the Undernet. He inherited the position from his departed dad along with "his" Net Navi, Serenade, a canonically genderless digital god.

Every Battle Chip comes in a predetermined list of Codes. IceBall comes in F, I, M, Q, S and * though I don't know if the * is obtainable, as sometimes it's just a data filler in the earlier games.

Here's the snag. Every code has different obtain conditions from the same enemy, and some don't come from the enemy at all but are instead found in Mystery Data, or in Shops, or through trade sequences with NPCs.

IceBall M does come from its respective enemy, the ColdHead. But you can't just find ColdHead. No, no, that would be easy!

You have to open your Navi Customizer and install the Fish program on Megaman, which attracts Aqua-element viruses whenever possible.

Then you have to head to a sort of counter-intuitive location, Hades Isle, and jack in to Hades Net from the terminal first used during the tournament in the story.

With this done, you have to run around getting random encounters until ColdHead shows up and then defeat it with a Busting Rank of at least 6.

To clarify this last point, here is how Busting Rank works in Battle Network 3.

In all games, a score of 10 points means an S-rank win. Winning in under 5 seconds will gain you 7 points, 5:00:01 to 12 seconds even is 6, from 12:00:01 to 36 seconds even is 5, and anything less is 4.

If you don't get Flinched, then you get +1. Otherwise you get 0 points if you Flinch once, and -1 for every Flinch from there, at a maximum loss of -3 points.

Double Delete - where you kill two enemies at once - is worth +2. Triple Delete is worth +4.

If you take 2 steps or less you get +1.

In Battle Network 3 only, you have the Custom Style "plus ranks".

Busting LV. S+: Scoring a Busting LV. S in a Virus battle with a Delete Time of less than 5 seconds without using the Buster normal shot, the ChargeShot PowerAttack, or selecting Navi chips, will get you an exclusive reward.

Busting LV. S++: Same conditions as above, but if you do this without re-opening the Custom Screen, a different exclusive reward can be obtained.

This means, to score the IceBall M Battle Chip...

Wait to defeat it for at least 12 seconds. [Base Score of 5]

Not get hit. [+1]

Make sure you move at least 3 times. [no Move bonus]

...and obtain a rank of 6. If you take the Move Bonus, a score of 7 will still likely yield the chip, but if you fuck them over and get an S you might get a different Code. If your score is low you can also get a different Code.

Also if you don't have Collect equipped to guarantee a Battle Chip reward from combat you might just get Zenny - the game's currency - instead of the Chip you fought so hard for and have to farm another encounter.

Interesting (and understandable) that you wanna send both Dante and Vanica to Hell, but not Zenon. I admit, I like the Dark Triad, as villains, they're cool. But Hell is exactly what Dante and Vanica deserve. Cruelty is fun for them, demons and evilness is what they want in the world. For FUN! Zenon, on the other hand, while his siblings want to have fun, he appears to me more coldheaded, like a soldier. He's not doing this for fun and it's a neat contrast to his siblings.

Sometimes I worry that I come off as simple for hating the obviously hatable villains of a given story.

And then I remember that there are worse takes than "the villains are bad people" out there./lh

Dante and Vanica are amazing as villains. There are no good intentions in their actions, no benevolence. Villains with nuance are good for a discussion but I also like villains who are just wrong and bad.

And then there's Zenon. He does have a "the ends justify the means" mindset. Unfortunately, he messes it up. Why did he think working with a devil would be a good idea? Spade Kingdom didn't have two demons sealed away for the heck of it. And even if Zenon was the one to run Allen through, it wouldn't have been necessary to do that if there wasn't a devil in that dungeon. Zenon even acknowledges that if the devil escaped the dungeon, it would cause havoc. Yet Zenon ends up thinking, "yeah, using a devil's power is totally sane and safe." It's so dumb. Like I said before, his greatest crime is stupidity.

Unpopular Raquel opinion: she wasn't such a good cop as we were pushed to believe in Part 1. I mean, there was so much of how her boss, her partner and everyone around believed her to be not good enough because of her being woman, her ex-husband situation and all. So we should see how wrong and mysogynic they are, while she is coop and all, but... Basically she really just turned off her phone and left at the very beginning of thieft? How unprofessional is it? You either say you can't work sufficiently cause personal reasons and they should find a new negotiator or just do your fucking job! Yeah, you feel bad for yourself, but people's lives are on stake! And then her boss persuades her to continue doing it, because he believes in her professionalism? I feel some contradiction here. Since then I couldn't take her much serious, and further Sergio's line just made it worse and worse.

On the contrary, Alicia felt like real professional, who even with pregnancy hormones (which are a thing) was more coldheaded and was more respected among male colleagues and superiors? I know she's super rough and crossed the line not one time, but still, she feels like more worthy antagonist.

Huh, interesting! I like that middle-ground position you have! I think mostly when it comes to Raquel, people either unreasonably hate her or think her a queen who does no wrong. But I think it's much more interesting than that.

The first part, to me, is a big part of the whole terrible feminism thing of the show. I addressed once in this post. I go on length about Raquel in the police force in it. (which is why I literally spent full ten minutes trying to find it. Tumblr's tagging system is horrible lmfao)

In a nutshell, I do agree to an extent. The show is all like 'look at those text-book sexist men' but then goes and gets Raquel to act EXACTLY how they said. She is really smart and she finds out things that won't be easy to trace, proving her self in a way.)

Like at the end of the day, we do have to admit that Sergio was right in what he said, he did beat her at her own game. And it'a infuriating that he did, not because he was smarter—we saw on multiple occasions that Raquel very well could be as smart— but because he was more rational than her. She was essentially way more emotional, especially with him. Even though they were suppoesdly in love the same way.

And I agree again! Alicia is all about getting things done. Even when she commits literal human rights crimes lol. But as you said, it only makes her a worthy antagonist.
