Stage 1 Playoff Predictions Day 1
Seoul Dynasty 0-3 New York Excelsior
Seoul may be coming off of a big win against the London Spitfire, but New York is going for it all in the stage playoffs. With a $500,000 prize pool, they will not be holding anything back. The main tank battle of Fissure and Mano will be one to look at more closely as both players are the best of the best. Seoul’s Fissure is known to be a very aggressive main tank while New York’s Mano has played more defensively this season. Mano is able to play this way successfully due to the support and synergy within his team. New York will have an edge though with their superior ultimate coordination in GOATS. While Seoul has been rotating their roster, New York seems to have no holes.
Key Matchups: Fissure vs Mano
Boston Uprising 1-3 Vancouver Titans
Boston just snuck into the Stage Playoffs with an incredible reverse sweep against Dallas. While this seems like a classic underdog story, Vancouver is coming in with an undefeated record. Boston will be able to take a map due to Vancouver’s tendency to play down to their opponents. The battle between Colourhex and JJanu will be fun to watch in this match. JJanu is known to be one of the best D’vas in the league due to his ability to negate abilities so effectively. On the other side, Colourhex is new to the league this season, but he has played well since his suspension. His ultimates will need to connect if they want to beat the unbeatable. My bet is that he gets too many ultimates eaten in the critical moments of the match.
Key Matchups: Colourhex vs JJanu

Changing up my theme is so frustrating because I can't get the right colour 😑 #92a6a8 is too grey, #a7d0d4 is too dark and #c3e4ed is too blue. Anyone know anything combining these?

Top 5 DPS OWL 2021 (just a list)
West
5. Xzi
4.  Decay
3. Yaki
2. Kai
1. Striker
Just Missed The List: Kevster, Birdring, Jerry, Soon, Happy.
Could Surprise: Happy, Shax, Birdring, Colourhex, Glister.
East
5. Carpe
4. Leave
3. Eileen
2. LIP
1. Profit
Just Missed The List: Shockwave, Fleta, Fits, Architect, Diem.
Could Surprise: Jinmu, SeoMinSoo, Erster, I really don’t like any of the other DPS players in this region.  I could talk about EQO and Godsb but there veterans so they won’t really surprise anyone.
Conclusion:
I’m not completely sure about Decay, how he’ll be used, and how well he’ll play depending on the meta.  I’m very big of Eileen and Leave and super low on Kaylee.  Colourhex has been grinding hard this offseason and could show up ripped af.  Birdring seems calm and poised to reach his potential.  Shax could see more playtime on a new team.  Happy seems very excited to show that Houston won’t be the laughing stock of the league this season.
East has a lot of unknown talent for me.  And any new talent that has hype right now seems kind of overrated.  Especially Kaylee, I don’t think he’s going to be the sniper game changer when it comes to sniper vs sniper.

do you mind if i ask more about what you think of the talent team? bc i havent really noticed much but i also dont watch That much so. yeah
ofc! first off, i really like all of the casters and am very glad they’re in owl, i think they all deserve to be there. the thing is that they’re mostly mid-twenties/early thirties cishet white gamers who have only ever worked in esports, and they don’t tend to consider the impact their words have (like the thing sideshow said abt “typical korean flex supports” or w/e where racists ran with it while he meant something completely different, which he did explain later, it came off REALLY badly. thats just one recent example and stuff like that happens all the time). as community figures they have a responsibility to point the owl community in a good direction, and also to understand that you can’t just talk about esports the way you talk about traditional sports because owl players are way younger and have less financial/emotional support, and because the community is much more tight knit so everything hits harder. from what i know of the other language broadcasts, they’re much more professional in comparison, theres probably smth to talk abt here w/ how esports are treated in korea and china vs na/eu bc theres a longer history there but from what ik the french casters are pretty professional so /shrug
i dont think its entirely on them, the broadcast tends to push similar stuff (like super genji, which was funny but god poor boston. the way the talent talked abt colourhex. eugh) and we know that owl doesn’t like when talent talks bad about orgs so they’re left with no option other than to rag on the players, but :/ i feel like they just need to be more careful
