Got some more questions
1: what made you name Jake’s hero name skybird?
2: how come Chris superhero name is Nightwing phantom instead of something else like super wing or maybe dark wing? Feels like a mouthful to me lol
3: what’s the most embarrassing thing that has happened to them? Either together or separate.
4: what horror movies have they tried to watch?
5: just like the supersons in canon (and maybe in some ppls fanons) have they ever do some slight teasing with each other? For example: calling each other dork, nerd, buttmunch, hit like a girl, etc…
6: what’s one cartoon/movie that they watch religiously? My headcanon for Chris that it’s SpongeBob.
Well my friend @gothicghost2000 , do I have some answers alright lol
1. Well what happened was that originally I gave Jake the code name of Bluebird since his main outfit was the Discowing colors on a Robin like suit. Only thing was, after some research, I rediscovered the character of Harper Row who went by Bluebird. Hence why I went with Skybird since I felt like it was different enough moniker name from Bluebird.
2. Well the idea was essentially to split the Nightwing mantle between Chris and Dick akin to how back at the marvelous competition, the X Men and Avengers gave a tendency for different teams that operate under a similar banner to bear a subtitle in order to help distinguish them. For example, the mainline X team can be X Men Gold while either a team of newly graduated members or even a time displaced version of the original team can be X Men Blue. Or there’s the main Avengers helmed by Captain America, Iron Man and Thor while another team lead by Hawkeye at San Francisco can be the aptly named West Coast Avengers.
So when differentiating Dick and Chris with the Nightwing mantle, since the former is more well known of the two (it’s a sad fact but true), I had to give Chris a way to let audiences know he too is a Nightwing albeit of a different sort than the one they’re most used to. I would’ve tried with a color based coding for them but I don’t know if Nightwing Orange would be as appealing sounding of a name since unlike Gold or Blue, it doesn’t sound a truly stand out color. So then I applied the fact Chris was born in the Phantom Zone and that his more distinctive powers are shadow based to the name process, hence Nightwing Phantom. Plus calling him simply Phantom by itself would be ripping off a golden age hero called the Phantom. So yeah…lol
3. For Chris, it would be the time Conner washed the laundry but he accidentally shrink Chris’ clothes so much but that morning he had to rush for school. The only thing that’ll fit him in the meantime was Lois’ wedding dress. You can imagine how red his face was when walking into class in said dress.
Meanwhile, there that one time Jake attempted singing a traditional Tamaranean folk song for a talent show. His louder wailing voice combined with the speakers needless to say certainly got not just tons of broken windows but a ribbon for sixth place
4. Mainly they stick to classic Universal Mosnters and if they feel especially brave, J-Horror movies starring Onryo, especially the Ringu and Grudge films. Though the first Ttime they tried watching Ringu, they were very very nervous around unlabeled video tapes
5. Chris and Jake probably do so especially at an earlier time when their little team was still barely coming together but far more lighthearted and less harsh in comparison to that other team. It’s more common for them to call each other teasing names during video game play throughs than out in their superhero jobs
6. For Jake, it’ll be both Powerpuff Girls Classic and of course Voltron Legendary Defender. For the latter case though, he completely ignores all the shipping that goes on in the fandom and just focuses on the show itself
Now as for the both of them being of them, two shows stand out being their go to ones: Avatar: The Last Airbender and Steven Universe

So, I have an opinion...
Please note: this opinion was brought to light after a comparison of two frames of the most recent Wayne Family Adventures (episode 22) and a long conversation with my sister about Dick Grayson’s opinions regarding the Discowing costume. There will be spoilers ahead, you have been warned.
The actual conversation that I had with my sister was based around the frame where Dick wears the Discowing suit, and the frames where we see Jason wearing the Discowing suit, and the frankly astonishing differences we see between the two.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Now, my arguments were based on stuff I will put in a different post, and also the fact that Dick, when wearing the suit, isn’t wearing one of his siblings’ costumes; he’s wearing his own. He’s wearing something he wore at a time when he didn’t have as much baggage on his shoulders and shit was far simpler, and it’s likely that when he wears the suit, that’s what he remembers. Jason, however? He’s wearing a suit that was his older brother’s, something he hasn’t dealt with since being Robin and depending on the previous experiences of the characters, Jason may not have many positive memories regarding that particular Nightwing suit, Dick may have been fighting with Bruce, or avoiding the manor completely when the Discowing suit was a common occurrence.
That all, of course, affects their confidence. I won’t say that confidence makes or breaks an outfit, but it helps. For example, most of the Robins, when taking up the mantle, changed something about the suit, to make it more comfortable for them. Tim added pants (and later changed the colour scheme), Stephanie made it more forgiving to the female form, Damian muted the colours and added a hood to the cape, and Duke (yes he’s on here and counts) took what he could of the Robin uniform and made it work for his purposes. You see these examples throughout timelines and scattered through various members of the DCU and it’s important to acknowledge the why.  For the characters, it’s to separate them from people who they look up to, who set impossible standards for them and to prevent them from falling into weeping puddles of “I’ll never be like them!”. For writers and readers, it’s to limit confusion, especially in cases where mentors have a habit of picking up kids with the same general outline (see: the male Robins (sans Duke)).  the side effect of this, is that a lot of the esteem the characters build up is based on their own identity, Tim would never comfortable in the Red Hood outfit, Dick wouldn’t be well-suited to a Batgirl costume, Stephanie wouldn’t take up a Signal costume, because all of them can see the good that the others do as themselves (mostly) and if they take up that role, it changes because they are different.
In this instance? The Discowing suit is put up as a punishment, and it’s mandated, so Jason can’t actually get out of it. Of course it’s gonna be confidence draining for him, never mind the fact that he’s got his other siblings ragging on him. But also? Jason probably isn’t the biggest fan of exposing his chest, given some of the scars that feature in various timelines (Joker-made HAHAHA’s, autopsy scars, training with the LoA, take you’re pick) all of which could be triggers for flashbacks to the traumas that caused them, which could be extremely damning in a fight.
The other thing is, Jason and Dick have two different body types (Dick’s relatively slender, while Jason is built like a tank), so unless the suit Jason ends up with is a) extremely stretchy (and even then...), or b) a different suit entirely (in which case... what the hell, how does Bruce not know about this yet, that’s too much money, what the fuck?!) Jason’s gonna have fabric pulled relatively tight around pretty much his entire body, so you can imagine how uncomfortable that would be. And it’s not gonna look good either, so...
The point that I’m trying to make, is that the perspective regarding the Discowing suit changes depending on who’s talking about it. Dick doesn’t see it as a punishment, because it’s his, and it’s something that he remembers fondly.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The rest of the family don’t have that perspective or the memories to look back on, so their perspective is something closer to “this suit was a horrible fashion choice and needs to be burnt- wait, please don’t make me wear it! oH gOd”
Again, the utter disgust on Jason’s face here, which is pure gold, honestly.

And Bab’s comment to Dick’s protests of his suit being a punishment.
