Distinguishing Chronic Complainers from Solution Seekers: The Power of Positive Mindset and Productive Behaviors
In every social and professional setting, we encounter two distinct types of individuals: chronic complainers and solution seekers. Transformation, just like mindset, is contagious. Understanding how to distinguish between these two can significantly enhance our interactions and foster a more constructive environment. Social contagion theory says that behaviors, emotions, and ideas can spread…

I am screaming internally at how words in mando'a will have a double vowel, usually 'aa' like 'chaabar' (to fear) or 'haalas' (chest), and the stress will be on the single vowel syllable, but only half the time. Sometimes it swaps, like 'haatyc' (visible) or 'naakla' (peaceful), and I cannot work out why?? Like, maybe it's because a 'stronger' vowel sound, like a diphthong, takes precedence like in 'jai'galaar' (shriekhawk). However, 'baatir' (to care) stresses the first syllable while 'laamir' (to jump) stresses the second. Surely their spelling similarities would indicate that they follow the same prosodic conventions, but no, apparently not? It's not word class either, because 'chaabar' and 'baatir' are both verbs. I understand that languages don't have perfect consistency, but good God? Mando'a is supposed to be a simple language. This is stupid and I hate it. From now on, 'aa' is the stressed or 'drawn out' syllable. I make the rules now. It's MY bad Star Wars conlang and I'll spell however I want.

this may sound controversial, but as a dm and player, i fully believe that if you're playing at a table for any game (but im mostly talking about dnd, particularly online culture's idea of dnd and how it should be played) for longer than like 2 weeks, you should have read the core book front to back and should own a copy of it (digital pdfs "acquired" online very much included). i do not think it is the responsibility of the GM to fill in the holes left by the designers, nor is it my duty to explain like 300 pages worth of rules to someone who wants to play this game with me but wont commit to a few nights of reading. the difference is, one of those problems is fixable. i know nobody likes homework, but its not fair to me to spend hours writing and designing a cool dungeon or boss encounter only for the session to stall because i have to explain how initiative works for the 3rd time tonight because im the only one who actually read the rules.
in the same vein, i also think that anyone who can figure out how to play a character in an rpg can figure out how to run a game. the solution to GM burnout and a "lack of GMs" is to run a game for your GM. every week or so, switch campaigns, so your GM doesnt get stuck in the Forever GM role and never get to be a player. its not actually hard to get a campaign started, you just need a couple villages, a larger town, a big city further away, and a villain who's threatening it. you dont need 400 pages of worldbuilding behind the scenes, you dont need to know the 1000 year history of your world. start small, with an interesting conflict, and take it from there.
and i really need to stress, im making this post because i know people love making player characters. im right there with you, what i want you to do is realize that your GM very probably also likes that and wants to play as a PC too. you do not have to live up to critical role worldbuilding to make a world to play in. hell, you dont even have to do that. there are plenty of beloved settings already written for you to make your own story in. grayhawk, ebberon, or even dark sun if your table is down for it. i want to encourage more people to GM because its very frustrating wanting to play but not being able to because everyone else says "oh i could never DM". 99% odds say you *can* do it, just start small and dont be judgemental to yourself or others. i want to tell your character's story in my world, but i also want to tell my character's story in your world.

Working more on the local group of Synchronized Light and hoo boy. There's smth wrong with these guys.
#rat rambles#oc posting#rain posting#theyre mostly a different flavor of messed up than my other guys as theyre all like family drama messed up#these guys are not family except for the obvious two they're just all either the worst or going thru it#oh also the girlfired of my ancient girl is a part of the group and they have a name now theyre twisted orbit 👍#orbit has gotten the pleasure of not just having an upsetting backstory but also an upsetting present due to one of her neighbors#and funnily enough its not synchronized light she basically never interacts with those two#instead its the circles second most fucked up lil guy named putity preserved#he is an absolute ass and has been absolutely obsessed with the idea of being the one to find the tripple affirmative for ages#back when the ancients were around he managed to convince his city's council to allow him to experiment on prisioners and after the mass#ascension he has continued to experiment on the various lifeforms he can get his hands on#for most of the time before the mass ascension orbit wasnt particularly invested in solving the great problem so he didn't pay her much#mind but after a certain incident where she broke down and had her memoried shifted through and selectively romoved he started to pay more#attention to her even though for the first while up until the mass ascension she mostly just seemed hollow#eventually after the mass ascension they seemingly suddenly gained an immense interest in solving the great problem#and that was when purity reached out offering to work with them on the project#at first orbit was unwilling but after the sliver incident they seemed a lot more willing to hear him out#which was perfect news for him because the sliver invident made him Furious and he was desperate for a way to revise history#and thankfully orbit's motivation for solving the great problem was exactly what he had been hoping for.#then theres the other two members of the local group endless grains of sand and deep coated mist who are the old ladies of the group#and theyre like old old they were some of the first iterators constructed and it shows#mist especially as her structure is both much larger than a modern iterator and also way less efficient and with much higher steam output#the quirk of this local group is that they all sorta use the same water that's rotated through them all#sand being located by the ocean and mist being located far away on the peak of a huge mountain being the connecting points of the loop#sand fiters a bunch of the water and sends the excess upwards towards a variety of water resavoirs and also mist#mist then slurps up a shit ton of it and outputs a shit ton of steam which condenses to water and flows downwards through the mountainous#area she's perched atop from#this water then forms a series of rivers and lakes downwards through the other 3 and since they require way less water than her theyre able#to all safely recycle mist's outputted water

Im making a neocities to replace and improve upon this blog. Very exciting development
#sometimes i feel like a town crier but like#only for things that interest me personally#like just a dude on horseback riding through town at 4am like#''I GOT MY TAX RETURN BACK. IT WAS $103.''#and people go back to sleep#anyway coding is both easier than i ever thought and also very very hard#like#very easy to do super super basic stuff#and people have done a lot of work to make it super easy to get started#there are html generators i found that do the basic foundation leg work for you to start#(super appreciate the people who made those)#and doing small basic edits to a pre existing code is easy#but uh#things get so much more complex#and when you KNOW theres a small error somewhere but you cant find it???#finding the error is like. lowkey brain melting#keeping track of everything when its still in progress is hard#and alao tbh ive always struggled to like#perceive the concept of software#like theres just this disconnect in my head#i have a brick of plastic and metal in my hand#and i can generally understand how it was constructed in specific ways to channel electric charges in a way to cause certain effects#but then the idea that you have this lengthy hypothetical and nontangible logic exercise just. SOMEHOW contained within it.#and that is the key to the physical item doing what you want it to#my brain just really struggles with that#so talking about code too in depth confuses me no matter how accessibly its phrased#just. its a math problem. its word problems. its logic problems. i can solve puzzles.#i cannot comprehend the continuum between the thought puzzles and the chunk of physical material in my hands#anyway#devilman am i right

"Should trans women be allowed to compete in women's sports" I don't think there should be women's sports. I think it's a silly artificial construction that only upholds the gender binary while it's benefits are incidental and would be better addressed directly.
Care about giving people with different body types and muscle mass a shot? Split your league by weight categories like boxing, or some other direct physical measurement. Gender is at best a poor proxy for these and we only do it because we still treat women are a different species. "But that still wouldn't be fully fair to everyone?" Sport isn't fully fair, it's about rewarding people with the most biological advantage. That's the whole point of it.
You want to give more sporting opportunity to women and minorities specifically? Okay then do that. Create your own opportunities league, but if we're giving up the pretense that it's about essential biological advantage then you better let trans women in.
What's that, the extra league would be treated as a novelty afterthought and would lack the prestige of the real main event? You mean like how women's events were treated when they were introduced? True! In fact women's leagues are still largely treated as secondary now, and you know how we can fix it? Make the main leagues open to everyone with weight, height or muscle mass categories so that people with different body types can excel. Like I suggested before. Problem solved.
Women's sport is bad actually.

I was skeptical at first when I saw that the headlines on the news about this was a woman. I was worried that it would be that she was a right-winger because I haven't been watching elections in Mexico all that closely. I had heard in passing that Mexico was having an election about a day before or the day of the election.
It turns out she was of the same party as AMLO. I've heard good things about this party and what they're doing.
Incidentally, I watched this guy name Peter Zehein give a talk here. (Sorry not to take you straight there, but go to 40:21.)
He talks about how supply chains for this company would be going through Mexico in the future for this industry's conference in the above video.
It would make sense that a party would do better when there is interest from capital to develop it.
Mexico has elected Claudia Sheinbaum as president. She’s an environmental scientist, a feminist and she’s Jewish.
She’s also anti-Zionist, which has led to a bunch of idiots on twitter saying she isn’t really Jewish. The evidence? She thanked Jesus in her acceptance speech.

Honestly something that drives me up the FUCKING WALL with a lot of younger leftists is when they lash out at people for not agreeing with them and then immediately jump into "well, what do you want from me?"??? Do you really not see that you lashing out at people because you are angry and scared is just causing a net negative in the world?
If you insist on taking part in political debate like an adult you have to act like one. Act like a fucking adult. Step back and assess why people are mad at you in this situation instead of being defensive and reflexive and showing just how much of a child you actually are.
I am not your parent and I am not taking on that emotional responsibility.

There is no profit or labor value to steal for capitalists, so housing the vulnerable will never change.
We can solve any problem we want once you remove the construct of capitalism.
We can save billions by treating people in need with solutions. Incarceration is a waste of so many assets. Criminalizing the needy is just an excuse to create more prisoners. Beyond stupid.
Here's an idea: turn every empty dying church into housing.
