I've only barely started playing MTG but I am so far baffled as to how the community doesn't have some IRL equivalent of Pokemon gyms. People put so much effort into creating decks with unique theming, and while plenty of people are trying to optimize their decks to be flawlessly unbeatable, even more just seem to really like decks with cool themes surrounding particular creature types or mechanics.

I just think Magic would lend itself really well to a type of semi-competitive scene where you and your buddies can hop on the bus to the next town over to go fight Crab Guy (guy who likes crabs) at the Crab Gym (room at the back of a game store with paper crabs on the walls) to get your Crab Badge (small pin with a crab on it) by defeating his Crab Deck (deck whose only creature cards are crabs)

I put all those points into Rhetoric and returned to that container again and again and then save-scummed the roll once the chance hit above 50% and all that was inside was a rich asshole. I'm annoyed about being trolled so hard but also, yes, a little amused about being trolled so hard. It's set up as a mystery; the container must have something cool inside it, why else would it be there and have multiple indicators of being noteworthy? And the way to open it is with Rhetoric, weird and mysterious, making the draw to open it so strong. But it's just a guy that only seems cool until you actually speak to him and realize he's an obnoxious asshole. Not worth.

My favorite background from Tomorrow on Revelation III is probably the Childcare Worker.

For me, the Childcare Worker background really gets at what Tomorrow on Revelation III is about and I'm quite proud of how neatly the traits and questions get at both the proficiencies and personal/emotional toll of paid childcare under capitalism.

(My second favorite is probably the Artist, not because of anything in the background itself but because every single person who I've seen play an Artist has made the character So Much in the best way imaginable. @temporalhiccup played an Artist on a stream a couple years ago and I will think about his PC verbally fileting an NPC artist's work forever probably, it was hysterical.) 🌼 Share something beautiful from one of your games (name the game, or let me choose). Tomorrow on Revelation III has microfiction in the margins. The little story is the prelude to the Mission Module "Alphabetical Reorder" by Jabari Weathers. I am always interested in 1) making the container be in conversation with the world of the game beyond aesthetic and 2) rewarding players/readers who pay attention to the details of the game as an object and I think this element succeeds at both of those things.

I also think it's really beautiful that "Alphabetical Reorder" inspired me to write the microfiction: there is something really special about inviting other people to create in the space of your game and them knocking it out of the park so hard that it reciprocally fuels your creativity.

What deck do you use for your everyday carry deck?

It depends on the day, but my best decks are either any of my Runick combo versions from Orcust to Live Twin Spright or Melffy Tri-Brigade. I've been running Orcust Runick lately and really enjoying it for it's great grind game that the Runicks help to facilitate. Though I've been thinking of picking up the Purrely deck now that it's almost literally pennies, which would then make it my strongest deck. My daily driver if you will.
