“Skurwiel, I hate this forest,” Percy muttered, “Why can’t we just cut it all down?”

“Imagine the effect in the environmental effects, Percy,” Calvin remarked, walking through one of the deepest and densest parts of the mystical forest with Georgia, Maverick, and Nemo, “a forest this big house more than just the curse creatures Duke constantly let free, but magical properties as well. Many witches, alchemists, and mages, live in it. Plus, there are tons of minerals and useful materials—”

“I get it, I get it,” Percy scoffed, “Doesn’t make it any less creepy.”

“Mr. Corals, are we going to be able to get out?” Georgia asked, fear lacing her voice as she clung to Nemo’s arm.

Calvin looked back at the group of teens flashing her his signature smile, “Of course, Georgia.”

“What about Rowan and Elias?” Maverick asked.

“Indigo and Sloan are looking for them,” Percy answered, “Knowing Indigo and her feline, once they are located, we’ll be able to find one another.”

“Don’t call Hecate a feline, like it’s an insult,” Calvin commented, “She’s a sweet little baby.”

“She is a nuisance,” Percy mumbled, before looking further ahead of them and seeing another pack of wild cursed creatures, “Goddess, will this ever stop.”

“When we get out of here,” Nemo scoffed.

Then a big burst of light hit the pack of animals, causing them to scatter, and Indigo poked her head out from behind a tree.

“Indigo?!” Percy gasped.

Calvin stared at her in shock, watching her every moment as she came out from behind the tree, “ Where is Sloan?” he asked.

“We got separated, so I came and found you,” she answered.

There came a sense of ease once she enjoyed their little group with an uncharacteristic bounce to her stride, and a smile on her face as her hands latch behind her back. No one knew it, but Calvin could no longer hold his normal gaze, or look on his face. He was staring off gently or dreaming looking at his wife, no he looked at her slightly confused as a pit formed in the depth of his stomach.

“Hecate!” Georgia exclaimed running towards the cat after she jumped out of a brush, the seer girl picked up the black cat off the forest floor giving her some nice head scratches, “You sweet baby, you found us!”

“Sloan must be nearby,” Percy remarked.

Hecate jumped out of Georgia’s arms, staring intently at Indigo before her back arched and the fur on her back stood up, growling and hissing at the woman in front of her, “Hecate, babe, what’s wrong that’s your momma!”

Calvin’s hand immediately went to his sword, “Calvin?” Percy asked, apprehensively, before watching Calvin draw his sword and hold it to Indigo’s neck.

“We met in the school’s west garden in early December, what flowers were blooming?” he asked harshly.

Indigo laughed, “Are you serious?”

“Answer the question!” Her replied with narrow eyes.

“Calvin?!”

“Dude, what are doing!?”

“Mr. Corals…”

“Moonflowers and Wisteria, and of course all the other winter flowers,” Indigo answered.

“What was the color of your wedding dress?”

“… It was pink, Calvin come on this is ridiculous.”

“When did we get married?”

“Calvin come on! This is preposterous,” Percy scoffed, “It’s her!”

“Whoever this is, is not my wife,” Calvin spat out through gritted teeth, “When did we get married?!”

“Calvin that was forever ago, how I am supposed to remember a date like that,” Indigo replied tilting her head to the side and smiling, “We love each other that all that matters right?”

There is then silence, “Would you like to ask me questions, Percy? So, I have to prove that I am me?”

Percy stepped back shielding Nemo, Georgia, and Maverick, “Professor?” Georgia asked.

“If I say run, you run, got it?” she stated.

The three students looked at the science teacher confused, “What’s our daughter’s name?” Calvin asked.

“Calvin, we don’t have a daughter,” Indigo mocked.

“What’s her name?”

“How can a give the name of someone who doesn’t even exist?!” Indigo exclaimed with a sense of fear lacing her voice. “If we don’t have a daughter, how would I know her nam-eh gah…”

“We have a daughter—”

“Oh, I like this already~”

“Darling~”

“Alright, we have a daughter, and?”

“What is her name?”

“Fayette has always been at the top of my list, Marguerite too, it’s hard to choose.”

“What about Aurora?”

“Like the Northern Light?”

“I was thinking more along the lines of the dawn, but that is also fitting.”

“Sweet Aurora Bookstone-Corals, mhm, I like the sound of that!”

“You have a very keen eye,” ‘Indigo’ coughed.

“I knew you weren’t here the moment we met!” Calvin commented twisting the sword further into this creature's stomach, “I know my wife, and you may masquerade as her, but you are not her, nor will you ever be her!”

“Love?”

She looks at him with a dejected gaze, wrapped in a security blanket of sorts, nothing like the little mage he knew. She’s wasting away.

“If there is anything I need to do, I’ll get to it later,” she muttered.

Sloan sat next to her, wrapping an arm around her and pulling her close, “That’s not why I’m here,” he softly commented, “You’re worrying me, Percy, too.”’

“I’m rather good at that, worrying people.”

“I can’t imagine how you feel, let alone Calvin,” Sloan sighed.

Indigo was uncharacteristically silent at the mention of Calvin, yet her body shook, and her head hung low, “What’s wrong,” he asked.

“I think he hates me.”

“Calvin Corals, hating you of all people,” Sloan mused before shaking his head, “No I don’t believe that.”

“He hasn’t talked in two months,” Indigo replied, “What other reason would he have not to talk to me anymore.”

“Indigo—”

“Do you think I can make him love me again…”

Sloan sighed, “You truly believe he has fallen out of love with you that quickly?”

“I did nothing when I saw her!” Indigo lamented looking at her comatose daughter, “I am the reason she is like this, I did this to her. She is my daughter I am supposed to protect her and here she is, in a coma because of me.”

 “Indigo you’re not at fault—”

“I never knew that I would ever miss the sound of someone’s voice so much!” Indigo continued, “I don’t want anything right now but my daughter to wake up and for my husband to just talk to me!”

“You should go home,” Sloan murmured, “sitting here isn’t going to help you right now.”

Indigo hummed, getting up out of her seat and kissing her sleeping daughter’s forehead before leaving,  rather than fighting on the issue. Sloan also stood, spotting his husband and putting supplies in storage. The one-eyed alchemist then had an idea. Walking up behind Casper tapping his shoulder, taking ahold of his hands when the brownie attempted to greet him.

Bending down to be level with Casper’s ear, “Would like to hatch a little plot with me?” Sloan asked.

“Of course,” Casper whispered back, “I hatch plots with no one else, but you.”

Sloan chuckled before kissing Casper’s cheek, “Wonderful,” the alchemist sighed.

Casper knocked on the doorframe to Calvin’s office later that night, “What do you need Casper?” He asked, with a cruel tone and beyond tired.

“I need you to go home.” He signed.

“I’m fine—”

“Lying to me isn’t a good idea!” Casper replied with narrow eyes. “Go home, you need to sleep, and you need to spend some time with Indigo.”

“I—”

Casper pointed to the infirmary exit, “Fine,” Calvin huffed, “If anything happens with Aurora—”

“I will contact you immediately!” Casper signed, “Now go!”

Calvin sighed once more before leaving and heading home, checking on his sleeping twins, even though they were beyond the age of needing to be checked on during the night, it felt right to pier in on their sleeping figures.

Being back home finally made him realize how desperate he was for his own bed, shower, and even beyond just the familiar scent of home, that mix of eucalyptus and cedar that almost smelled like the rain.

He found Indigo in bed wrapped in their sheets in one of his shirts, sleeping away clutching at a pillow as if it were him. Tottering his way over to her, he kissed her cheek rubbing at her side, “Je suis désolée Je suis rentré si tard.” He muttered, before heading toward the bathroom.

“Calvin.”

Her voice made him freeze, and his heart stopped, she sounded so sad and scared. He had never heard so depressed before in his entire life, and he sure never thought he would ever hear her say his name in such a tone. He turned around and looked at her, she’s hollow, a shell, lip quivering at him. Her appearance makes him want to wrap her up in his arms and hold her close but his body forbids him from doing so, forbids him from opening his mouth, forbids him from speaking.

“Can we talk?” She croaked.

He stood ever frozen he continued to stare, “I know I am the last person you want to talk to right now—”

Oh, no, no no non, that’s so far from the truth.

“— but I can’t do this anymore! The silence so unbearable!”

“Indi—”

“It was one thing when you left and stayed in the infirmary, I hate not sleeping next to you, but I can deal with that, but I need to hear your voice! I miss you so much it hurt!”

“I know you are angry at me and utterly detest me but please—uhmhm!”

It felt like he hadn’t kissed her in years and the last thing he wanted to do was stop! He wants to continue to cradle her in his arms, chest pressed again chest, lips interlocked as if to prove that he still loved her like it he always had since they had first met.

When they finally parted, Calvin rested his forehead against Indigo’s touching their noses together in soft butterfly kisses, “I’m sorry,” he panted, “I’m sorry, I’m sorry, I’m sorry..”

He continued to repeat the words like a mantra while kissing her cheeks and down her neck, “I don’t hate you, I could never hate you! I love you! I love you so much! I keep failing you, I keep failing our children, I guess I thought that keeping my distance until I could make things better would fix our problems… Obviously, I was wrong.”

“Calvin,” Indigo exhaled as he continued to kiss her skin laying her down in their bed, bawling his clothes within her fist as he laid on top of her.

“Do you forgive me, angel, can you forgive me,” Calvin yearned in her ear, “I’ll do anything for you to forgive me, angel eyes, just tell me what I have to do.”

“You don’t need to do anything,” Indigo longed, a hand wrapping in his curls, “I forgive you.”

Calvin groaned into the crock of her neck, “You probably want to take a shower,” Indigo muttered.

“No, I’m staying right here, and we’re talking,” he replied.

They spoke most of the night about nothing and everything all at once, Falling asleep early in the morning.

“Do you want breakfast?” Calvin asked, getting out of bed the following morning.

Indigo groaned, “No, I’m not really hungry.”

“Have you been eating properly?”

“I don’t want to answer that.”

Calvin rolled his eyes kissing her cheek, “I’m gonna jump in the shower, are you going to the college today?”

“Yeah.” Indigo muttered into her pillow, “There is some stuff that I need to finish.”

“Do you want to go in together?”

“I’d like that.”

She would join him in the shower a few minutes after he’d got in, he would play with her hair as she attempted to make herself look presentable, distracting each other while getting dressed, before walking hand and hand to the college. Outside the infirmary, Calvin peppered her face in kisses muttering French sweet nothings to her.

“I’ll come and we’ll have lunch together, alright?”

Indigo nodded, “I’ll text updates with our girl once I get them.”

“Thank you.”

“I love you,” he yearned holding her face in his hands.

“I love you too,” she replied in the same tone before kissing softly before leaving for her office.

“Thank goddess,” Sloan sighed, walking to the infirmary, a witness to the lover's scene in front of the infirmary, “The world is healing.”
