if you enjoy hearing some words of affirmation, hyeongjun will make sure to remind you that you're doing a good job and that he enjoys having you in his life. it happens especially before you fall asleep, as he strokes your cheek and whispers small affirmations. but what he likes the most is when you do it to him. pat his head and tell him that you're proud of him and he will fall in love with you all over again. you also like communicating through notes around the house, when the other is sleeping or showering and you keep them all in a box in his room.

despite his busy schedule, hyeongjun will always make time for you. if you two have a day-off, he'd love to go somewhere with you; whether it's to an amusement park, a café or a museum. if you only have the evening for yourselves, you two would stay in to play videogames or watch movies, to cook and bake or to order takeout. it doesn't matter what you guys do because he just enjoys being in your presence. it's not uncommon for you to sit next to each other without a word to do your own work. note however that it is very likely that he will get distracted and he will take you down with him.

hyeonjun is big on physical contact and he will most of the time express his love through it. holding hands when going on a walk, resting his head on your lap and you resting yours on his shoulder, casual kisses throughout the day when you guys pass by each other, finding yourselves in each other's arms after a long day. he will definitely use physical touch when he can't seem to express his words through words and if you two get into a argument, the first thing he will do is hug you silently.

hyeongjun will absolutely make time for you if you need his help or if you need him to get something or do something for you. he always reminds you to call him whenever you need help and sometimes you call him to do something that you could definitely do alone but none of you complain because you know it's to spend time together. he also really appreciates when you run errands for him because of his busy schedule. he enjoys coming back home to see that you've bought his favorite drink and done the dishes.

hyeongjun thinks about you so much that it's becoming worrying. wherever he goes, if he finds something that you'd like or that reminds him of you, he will buy it immediately. and you don't have to wait for any big occasions like birthdays and anniversaries to receive any gifts. when you see each other, especially after a long time, both of you will blurt out "i have something for you" at the same time. the type of boyfriend to send you photos and websites links with "what color would you like?". every piece of clothing that you've bought him has become his favorite.

according to kang minhee, you sleep too little.

ever since moving in with your very amazing and insanely tall partner, kang minhee, he always comments on how sleepless you look each day.

while you would agree, with how much work you have to do. yeah, you could stop painting all day but do you really want to? no. even if your up at three in the morning, it doesn't really matter to you.

it matters to minhee though.

minhee doesn't necessarily have to wake up in the morning to go to work, but you know he likes to get a full nights sleep, so seeing him awake at a time that you were awake was odd.

"y/n?"

"yes?"

"insomnia again?" he inquires, he knew you struggled to sleep, you hum as you narrow your eyes, a small groan of frustration escaping your lips as you realized you used the wrong color.

"yep" you whisper, staring at the colors as your eyes go back to the painting again. "i think i may have used the wrong color" you say.

"what are you painting?" minhee asks, gently placing his hands onto your shoulders as he tries to figure out what the painting is supposed to be.

"a garden" you reply. "i mean— i've started it, but i don't know which flowers to paint".

"what about tulips?" he suggests, and you tilt your head to look up at him. "you like those".

"those are kind of hard to paint.."

"you painted a literal cruise once, y/n" he states in a very deadpanned way, you chuckle and shake your head at the words.

"alright then" you sigh, pouting. "now i have to change the canvas".

"why do you..?"

"because i already got halfway through the painting and i prefer yellow colored tulips so now i have to start all over because it has to be perfect—"

"alright y/n" he squeezes your shoulder, and you laugh. you place down the other painted canvas, you'll use it for something later, you picked up a new blank canvas and placed it onto the easel.

"minhee why are you awake?" you ask as you begin to paint what you intended to.

"because you are" he says simply, somehow now having a cup of hot chocolate in his hands. you narrow your eyes at the sight, not even knowing where he'd gotten hot chocolate.

"where'd you get that?" you ask, staring at him for a moment before turning back to your canvas and beginning to paint the surrounding bush. "i want some.." you mutter.

"magic" he says in a tone of excitement, looking like a little kid, or seongmin whenever he gets chocolate. "how do i convince you to go back to sleep?"

"you don't".

"y/n" minhee whines, pouting as if he was a baby and not a 20 year old man who was 6'2. "if you don't get sleep then i'm gonna lose sleep over you losing sleep".

"then stay awake with me" you say, turning to look back at him once again. minhee blinks, like he wants to say no but genuinely can't.

"fine then" he says. "i will, i'll supervise your painting" he places the cup of hot chocolate down and places his hands onto your shoulders once again.

"i appreciate that" you say, minhee simply smiles and nods as he observes you paint.

he'd give a lecture on why sleep is important in the morning—

and maybe you'd actually listen then.

the rainy night | jungmo

pairing: bf!jungmo x gn!reader

genre: slice of life, comfort, and fluff // warnings: brief mentions of anxiety

summary: Jungmo doesn’t take long to realize that you can’t sleep because of the thunder, so he does his best to help you sleep.  // word count: ~700 

note: It is actually raining quite bad here when I’m writing this and the rumbling feels like it’s shaking everything 😭

Most nights when you sleep with Jungmo, it takes less than 25 minutes before you fall into a deep sleep. Something about the warmth of his arms around your waist and your back against his chest is enough to send you into much needed sleep. Not to mention how soft your bed is, especially with his totoro plush.

Not to be biased but it is one of your favorite plushies that he has. Just when you thought he couldn’t get any cuter, he revealed that he had this plush. 

You frequently take it with you around the apartment when he’s not home yet because it smells like him, but also reminds you of those late night video calls where he would just laying with it in his arms. Wishing that it was you and you wishing the same. Fast forward to a couple months later, you two moved in together. So now, he doesn’t use it as much because well you’re here now to actually cuddle with him. 

Despite today being a long day for you, you just couldn’t sleep with the ongoing rain storm passing by. Not to mention the sound of the claps of thunder kept shaking and rumbling the entire place. They were constantly happening and with you not being able to effectively lessen the noise, you kept having to place your hands over your ears. 

You and Jungmo still weren’t heading to bed yet but sitting in bed while on the phone. He had noticed that you would cover your ears as soon as lightning would flash across the sky and create a sudden burst of light that lit up the room.

And as one would guess the rumbling noise did shortly follow after the lightning struck the sky. Normally the thunder and lightning aren’t so bad but this storm was happening over the course of Thursday through the weekend, so it wasn’t going anywhere. Jungmo wasn’t sure what to do but it didn’t take long for him to notice that it was going to later become another problem if you were trying to sleep. Plus, he knows that you’re tired and would like to at least make sure you’re able to get the best rest possible under his care. 

It’s the least he could do for you and knows you would do the same for him after a long day.  He’s about to offer some sleep headphones before you practically jump on him because of the sound. Your heart nearly jumps out of its chest and is beating fast. It doesn’t seem to slow down until he grabs a hold of your hand to let you know that he’s here for you. Unsure if he can feel the heart beating, you do your best to take deep breaths and realize that everything will be okay & it’s just a little bit of thunder and lightning. 

He starts to rub your back in hopes that it’ll help calm you down and whispers “I’m here and all will be okay.” Hearing his voice brings you out of your head that was racing back and forth about how the rain could bring a blackout or worse. Eventually, your breathing starts to even out and you lean into his chest. 

“Are you feeling better now? We can always watch something so that you’re not hyper-focused on the rain!” Jungmo asks you with soft eyes. 

You respond with a shake of head and respond to him with “Yeah, I am. Thanks for that and no we don’t have to watch anything. I think the sound of your heartbeat is more comforting right now. If you don’t mind, can I sleep on your chest tonight?” 

“Of course, my love. Plus that just means I can give you more forehead kisses!” 

You chuckle and a heartfelt smile graces both of your faces. Not long after, you fall asleep first as his heartbeat lulls you to sleep. When he’s positive that you’ve arrived in dreamland, he plants a kiss on your forehead and makes sure that you’re in a comfortable position, Jungmo closes his eyes with a peace of mind.

Minhee had his day off, and he decided to surprise his girlfriend with her favorite coffee and strawberry cheesecake. He unlocked the door to her apartment, tiptoeing to her bedroom because he knew she would be still sleeping. A smile flashed across his face as he saw her sleep contentedly in his t-shirt. He placed the coffee and cheesecake on the side table, sitting carefully on the bed next to Y/N. He leaned closer to her ear, whispering.

"Wake up, Sleepy Beauty." He watched her, how she was slowly waking up with a confused look on her face.

"What are you doing here, bubs?" she asked, yawning loudly. Minhee giggled at how she was cute.

"I have a day off, so I decided to see my beautiful lady," he said, still giggling at her.

"Why are you giggling? I just woke up," she playfully slapped his shoulder. He laughed, cuddling to her.

"You're just so cute."

the four walls around you felt like they were closing in, the ceiling collapsing atop you. you had been choking down the stomach bile that kept clawing its way up your throat for the past couple hours. 

you were supposed to be enjoying your time with your boyfriend, on a hard-earned vacation, but everything about it was giving you the wrong impression; the gloomy weather, the clerks at the front-desk, the people you swore were staring every time you stepped outside the hotel room. you swore there must've been a target on your back, aimed at by hushed whispers. or there must have, at least, been a sticky note on your forehead that said point and laugh. 

you felt so physically and mentally incapable of holding back the faucet behind your eyes, that somewhere along the lines the pressure must've made the pipe burst. you stared at the blurred ceiling, huffing in breaths that felt like sand in your lungs. you tried anything and everything to ground yourself from the looming thoughts that echoed around in your skull. 

it’s been days of pretending, and now your one-man script was being forgotten. the curtain wasn’t closing, it was, simply, on fire. 

the doubts about yourself were always something debilitating you’d dealt with your entire life. you’d struggled with the concept of being interpreted by others, and the negativity that might follow. it no-doubt had something to do with unworked and underlying trauma, but it had become such a ‘norm’ that you’d ruled it too late to fix. in reality, you wouldn’t know what to do without it, and that always made the spiraling worse. 

it's like a looped track of the most annoying song you’d ever heard. a piercing whisper you could never comprehend. something so close, yet far enough away you couldn’t reach it. you were truly losing your mind. 

but eventually, the trouble in paradise got bearable. 

“hey,” it faded out just as fast as it hit your ears, the click of the door following. when you didn’t respond, he asked, “baby, are you sleeping?”

you almost pressed your eyes closed, furthering your acting career. but he knew you too well to fall for something as cliche as pretending to be asleep so you could escape your problems in a game of hide and seek from hell. 

he knew you too well. 

“no,” concern laced his features when your pout met his eyes; yours red and puffy from the tears that continued to fall. “s-serim,”

“baby—what’s wrong?” 

you knew he’d never make you feel guilty for feeling feelings, but nonetheless the thought crossed your mind every time you got rained on. you didn’t want to burden him, wiping the salty-water from your cheeks and waving him off. “did you get something to e-eat? are we gonna do somethi—”

“don’t deflect, please,” he disregarded whatever was in his hand, coming up to your seated figure on the bed. “please, at least let me know if you’re okay, baby. if you don’t want to talk about it.” 

he gently put a hand on your head, bringing your cheek to press into his sternum. you could hear his heartbeat, and somehow it was grounding. 

he was real, not your fears. 

the little things he’d do—like put away your pile of clothes, or go out grocery shopping for you—were real, not the shouts of self-worth going on inside your inner monologue. 

your chest felt like it was caving in, ribs stabbing your lungs with each shatter. you could only breathe so much until that also felt overwhelming. your thoughts were running away from you, taunting a game of chase you didn’t get a say in playing. everything felt so out of control, you didn’t know what to categorize the hurricane in your head as. 

but the silver lining in your storm was always him and his gentle demeanor, kind heart and soft-spoken nature. he loved you as you clawed at the walls of your mental-cage. he loved you like bees to pollen, and a klepto to stealing. you were everything perfect to him, and everything in between. 

“come back to me,” it was absentmindedly how quickly his face was all up in yours, and how badly you didn’t mind. his forehead was against yours as his palms laid on your cheeks. comfortingly, the stroke of his thumbs made you re-enter reality. “it’s okay, i’m here.”

he was real. he was right in front of you, willingly. you never had to force or even, frankly, ask for his comfort. he loved you, and was determined to show you just how much through his day-to-day life. guilt was something he washed away with every touch and word. 

you nodded the best you could to acknowledge him, eyes refocusing on him. “i’m… okay,” 

however long it took, he’d be by your side. until you meant what you said. until the tears stopped. until your mind went quiet. he’d be there, day and night, rain or shine. you were his only concern, fuck a vacation. 

“it’s okay not to be,” he whispered, lips brushing against yours, “i’m here either way, i promise.”
