Jaune: (Owl!Faunus, Walking along, Shoved) Ow! What the-
Qrow: (Taps Harbinger)
Raven: (Taps Omen)
Ruby: (Crow!Faunus, Taps Crescent Rose) You came to the wrong neighborhood, motherfucker...
Fun Fact! Owls and Corvids, such as crows and ravens, have a sort of rivalry with each other to the point that corvids will gang up on a single owl that enters their territory while owls will single out lone crows. Part of this rivalry is a result of both animals being intelligent enough to hold grudges.

A Rosegarden by Any Other Name Would Smell As Sweet
AKA Reasons Why Rosegarden is Canon #015: Ruby and Oscar's Multiple Shared Allusions to Other Fairytale Love Stories
Typical disclaimer that while all characters within the RWBY narrative have a main allusion, they often have secondary allusions that apply to the roles they fill in relation to other characters stories. Like how Yang is Goldilocks on her own, but becomes the Beauty to Blake's Beast when paired together.
The first, most notable example for Rosegarden is, of course, The Little Prince (expanded upon here). Oscar's primary allusion is of a boy who grows up on a planet "scarcely bigger than himself, who was in need of a friend", and one of his most influential relationships is that to a rose with whom he loves. They spend much of the story separated from one another, while the prince wanders lost in a desert, pining for a way to reunite with her back home.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Important to note this isn't the only time Ruby has been a Rose for another fairytale. She also slots in as the Rose Red to Weiss' Snow White, she acts as the successor to her mom as The Last Rose of Summer, and she also stands in as the Enchanted Rose to Bumbleby's Beauty and the Beast given how it's a "true loves kiss will break the spell before the last petal falls" situation... and BB kisses two episodes before Ruby Rose "dies".
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The second notable allusion for Rosegarden is the Warrior in the Woods (expanded upon further here), a canon RWBY fable from The Fairytales of Remnant. The very first story within the book is about a village boy who becomes a huntsman after being inspired by a huntress he meets in the woods. A huntress, I might add he fell in love with the moment he saw her silver eyes.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Something to note about both of these examples, is that they are each stories with a focus on caring for someone else in unique ways. With The Little Prince, the Rose is vain and has many demands and asks the prince to tend to her; while in WitW, the warrior works tirelessly without thanks to protect a village. When the boy meets her, he starts looking after her for a change because he figures that's the least he can do to repay her. Both of these tie in well to RG's dynamic of Ruby carrying such heavy responsibilities alone, with Oscar making a conscious and active effort to help her shoulder those burdens.
The third, more subtle allusion, is their respective ties to The Wonderful Land of Oz. Oscar's first confirmed allusion before the Little Prince reveal was originally to Princess Ozma/Tip, the heir to the Kingdom of Oz given his proximity to Ozpin as the man behind the curtain, as well as to fit a "genderbend" character within the framework of team JNPR.
How does Ruby tie into this one? Well, we have to work backwards a bit. Ozpin's initial four lieutenants were all linked to the original cast of Oz:
Qrow as The Scarecrow without a mind (travels around as a crow and is regularly inebriated)
Ironwood as the Tin Man without a heart (his multiple cyborg prosthetics and character development in Atlas)
Lionhart as The Cowardly Lion (his fear overtakes him and pushes him to join forces with Salem to save his own skin)
Theodore as Dorothy Gale (donning ruby gauntlets instead of the traditional red slippers)
But RWBY is a story about legacies and breaking cycles. With the new generation of huntresses in Oz's inner circle, they replace those who came before them.
Blake takes Lionheart's place (cat faunus that ran out of cowardice, only to become brave and return to the fight)
Weiss as the Tin Man (aka Ice Queen, who's heart melted as she became kinder and grew more attached to those around her)
Yang the Scarecrow (no longer blindly following orders, but making an active effort to question the words and intentions of those around her)
Ruby as Dorothy (her little dog Zwei and the red - or silver, depending on movie or book adaptation - slippers that lead them all on their journey)
Why bring up Oscar as Princess Ozma and Ruby as Dorothy? Well, according to the original books and not the movie, "Dorothy and Ozma are each other's closest relationship" as illustrated here:
Tumblr media
Very good friends. Just gals being pals. Sharing the responsibilities of leadership with one another. Smooching in the palace gardens. Dorothy as the only one who's allowed in Princess Ozma's rooms without an invitation. #BFFS4EVA
These are all the canon ones that are easy enough to parse, but there are some similarities to others famous stories that can be found with a bit of squinting that I will also share just for fun.
The first is how Ruby's experience in the Tea Party acts as a near perfect display of Romeo and Juliet's ending. For those unfamiliar with - or who have forgotten - the bard's infamous tragedy, it is a story about two star-crossed lovers very much doomed by the narrative. It ends with Juliet faking her death without telling Romeo. So when her prince charming comes across what he believes to be her corpse, he drinks a vial of poison and kills himself out of grief. When Juliet wakes and sees he has left her, she takes his dagger and stabs herself so they might be together.
In the tea party, Ruby fills the shoes of Romeo and Oscar of dear Juliet. Oscar is "killed" by Ruby's blade, but it is an illusion. He's not real. Like Juliet, he's not really dead. However, the vision is still enough to push Ruby into drink a vial of poison (the tea that takes her to the tree), giving up in the face of her grief, just as Romeo does.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And if we need any more evidence for this one, can't hurt to bring up the infamous quote of Juliet wherein she likens her love to an oh-so-familiar flower:
What's in a name? That which we call a rose By any other name would smell as sweet;
A line that Juliet says to proclaim that if her Romeo weren't a Montague, then she would still love him regardless, but through which implies that it would be easier for them to be together if he were not himself. And within V9, Ruby's cited motivation to go to the tree is because she doesn't want to be herself any longer.
And last, but certainly not least, is how a lot of ships within RWBY seem to have fairly direct parallels to the myth of Eros and Psyche. It is a classical tale about the trials of love, putting the protagonists under multiple tests of loyalty and attachment before letting the two lovers unite at the end. Both love stories within Beauty and the Beast and Snow White and Rose Red pull inspiration from the myth, and we see it in CRWBY's approach to writing romances throughout the show thus far.
Blake and Yang being separated, breaking and rebuilding trust, before coming together in V9; Ren and Nora going through trials and conflict, currently apart now so they might discover who they are on their own before re-uniting with one another again; and Rosegarden having constant reunions, separations, and trials with strong focuses on their attachment to each other. Another common archetype they use from Eros and Psyche is that of the "Animal as Bridegroom", wherein at least one of the partners undergoing a transformation that is often monstrous in nature.
Bumbleby is self explanatory
WhiteKnight has the issue of Jaune being lost to time and becoming an Old Man, who's curse is reversed by magic. It alludes to his role as the Prince within Snow White and Rose Red who was initially turned into a bear via a curse
Rosegarden, has this instance for both characters. Oscar as an Ozcarnation (becoming something he doesn't want via a curse they are trying to break before time runs out) and Ruby's future fate should she be captured by Salem (being turned into a Grimm by the wicked witch - or eaten by the wolf - like her mother before her).
All of these line up with the myth's structure as well as Monty's foundational philosophy on love stories that we see in his quote from many years ago:
Tumblr media
A lot of these all have really tragic endings so uh. Good thing RWBY likes to subvert the stories it's telling, right? They're going to get a happy ending, right CRWBY???? 😰

How about a RWBY AU where, for various reasons, Teams RWBY and JNPR attend Menagerie's official Huntsman's academy? (Weiss was fully sticking it to her father and trying to show support for Faunus, Phyrra wanted to go to a Huntsman school she was least likely to be recognized at, etc.)
Series: RWBY AU Criteria: Going to Menagerie's school instead of Beacon. AU title (optional): Going Feral
Menagerie has built a small huntsman academy, near the deserts to help keep the Grimm at bay from the civilians. This new academy draws in some different people.
Following two incidences in Patch two sisters decide to take enrollment in the new academy when they are floated their way. Curiously, their uncle Qrow had been the one to mention it. Yang has scales on her arms, and Ruby appears to be human.
Weiss Schnee has worked out a deal with the headmistress of the academy, Kali, that she would be safe at the academy in exchange for details about the operations of SDC. She has a snow white tail, that she had to keep secret previously due to her male guardian. Blake is going because her mother is the headmistress, and the betrayal of Adam hurt her badly.
Jaune managed to fake his transcript, and they are still questioning if his lack of golden retriever ears or tail was surgical or if he really wasn't a faunus, but they took him either way. Pyrrha is a minor celebrity, and is lumped in with the other humans. Ren and Nora are orphans that are taken in, as they both were near feral when the recruiter found them.
RWBY JNPR are lumped together as token minorities or at risk students, with extra protections and restrictions on them. It takes one incident with Weiss's tail and a door for everyone to understand her situation and accept her as one of their own.
Some students see Ruby talking to a crow, and wonderful if she might be a bird faunus of some sort, especially as her sister is the dragon faunus.

TEAM RWBY IDEAS
some ideas i have for my rewritten version of RWBY MAIDENS Maidens can only control environments and the weather. Also they can change their surroundings, from a high tech hallway to a red maple forest (like an illusion). (so no sword making or whatever just purely environmental) - team rwby becoming the Maidens a. Ruby becomes the Spring maiden (can control flora and wind) b. Weiss becomes the Winter maiden (can create snow storms and ice powers) c. Blake becomes the Fall maiden (tornados and clouds/rain) d. Yang becomes the Summer maiden (heatwaves and thunderstorms) Maidens can used their combined powers to make combos, Fall and Winter making it hail or Fall and Summer making a dessert storm. YANG Technically she shouldve graduated at this point, however she chooses not to, after finding out that Oz invited Ruby (15) to train at Beacon Academy, she managed to convince Oz to let her redo her senior year at the academy to support Ruby. JAUNE the Jaune we know will be put in the bully team from the 1st vol, my version would be more of an androgynous-femme presenting guy BLAKE & RUBY they can make their own little book club :) BLAKE & WEISS I think Blake would stand up for Weiss (and the other way around), especially if Jacques would come to visit Beacon, after finding out that Weiss went to Beacon instead of Atlas Academy. Before Jacques would be able to hit Weiss, Blake would step in and put him in hsi place. BEACON, HAVEN, SHADE & ATLAS ACADEMY DRESS CODE Most strict in dress (1 being most strict to 4 least strict about it/only cares about results) 1. Atlas (has to wear assigned uniform, miss a tie or want to wear pants instead of a skirt? get expelled scrub (also the most discriminatory school)) 2. Shade 3. Haven 4. Beacon (''male student wears a skirt? ok and?'') Beacon Academy ''Dress Code'' Honestly they dont care if you bribe a fashion student or get a tailor to make a longer skirt or flared pants, as long that it has the Beacon Academy Pattern™️ and ''wearing'' the tie, anything goes
Tumblr media
ADAM (vs YANG & BLAKE) Making him more obsessive and weird by wearing Blake's tail (which he cut of before she escaped) as a belt. Also making him more Bull than original, because to this day i still dont see what makes him a Faunus. Like the black colored horns are cute but those can be easily mistaken for colored hair. Fall of Beacon (Adam vs Yang & Blake Round 1) Same story but instead of Yang immediately being defeated after getting her arm cut off, she powers through and uses her firey semblance the stop the bleeding in her arm, while Blake keeps up the good fight. After the bleeding stops Yang steps back into the ring to give Adam a burn scar. After losing too much blood Yang caves in while tries to keep her on her feet. Adam also takes Yangs severed arm Comm Tower (Adam vs Yang & Blake Round 2) Adam teases Yang by throwing her severed arm at her, but shrugs it off and tells him he can keep it. QROW & RAVEN Instead of turning into normal looking Ravens/Crows, they turn into a Nevermore look alike. Originally a power given by Oz, now turned curse by Salem. Both Qrow and Raven now constantly have to fight for control with their Grimm halves. Qrow has partially given up, hence the drinking, so his hands look like bird claws and his body is covered in feathers. Raven keeps her distance to avoid hurting anyone. Unbeknownst to them Salem is using their eyes to spy on Oz. SALEM/White Fang im not sure of this idea but instead of the White Fang (which will be renamed to something else) being a equal rights group, they're followers of Salem, the False Goddess, who gives promises that by serving her, they can save their world/make their world better. And that the Grimm exist to ''get rid of the bad people/sinners'' However i think there is a sort of White Fang group but only in Atlas where the most hate crimes, slavery and discrimination happens. As SDC and other companies in Atlas use Faunus for entertainment (for example Bull fighting for Adam) or for slavery. Yes that would imply that Blake was once a follower of Salem's, but turned around after the train incident. TEAM STRQ this might be the worst idea but hear me out. Team STRQ was a polyamorous quad. (in this version Raven and Qrow are >NOT< related) After Summer's death (at assuming Salem's hand), there was a lot of trust issues after, considering neither Qrow nor Raven told Tai what actually happened, and they slowly drifted apart but they all stayed in touch or checked up on the kids and Tai, Qrow would visit more often, while Raven stayed away for their (R&Y) safety. Raven and Qrow keep butting heads cuz they blame eachother for Summer's death/not saving her, but deep down they still care for eachother. Both Ruby and Yang are their kids (its Remnant they can like make kids in a tube or something). Yang has Qrow's alcohol problems (they sometimes drink together) Ruby has or had Raven's selflessness well thats all the ideas i have, nothing solid, just seeing what sticks to the wall. Admittedly the STRQ one might be a bit out there, considering Qrow and Raven are well known as siblings, and yes its weird as fuck idea to have them being/or were together as a couple. But if you remove the context of them being siblings, and see them having arguments, they argue as if they're a divorced couple. Also Qrow is more of a dad than Tai, protecting the gang when they're going on a trip, when Ruby is 15-16 yrs old (in the actual show). And generally being there for the gang. Even before Vol 4 Tai didnt even visit once, but was able to send Zwei. Qrow stayed the whole time, hanging out with Ruby and Yang but i dont remember in vol 1-3 Ruby or Yang ever calling Tai, y'know their dad? But again these are all ideas, nothing solid, just me rambling about RWBY stuff, uh uhm.... are these good ideas? most likely not feedback and criticism is appreciated :) my team rwby redesign v

Rwby Ranma 1/2 au (plus my weird ideas at the bottom)
So I had this bits of idea posing as an fanfic idea for a bit and here what is basically. Certain Rwby characters fell into one of the spring at some point. I had other ideas but that would be at the end because my mind doesn’t go from 0 to 60, it goes from 0 to teleports behind you.
Jaune fell into the spring of the drowned girl (obviously, and thought him turning into a faunus girl because his mother was a faunus), Ruby fell into wolf, Weiss into Fox, Neptune into cat, Adam into the spring of the drowned child (because edgelord line coming from a child with never not be funny), and Penny into either the spring of drowned girl or boy (I wanted to have a trans Pinocchio and I’ll stick to it).
Qrow and Raven are cursed to turn into a crow and raven but learned how to transform back and forth from Ozpin where he teaches Jaune, Ruby, and Weiss to do the same.
Also Cardin does not recognize Jaune’s female form and thinks it’s a different person while having a crush of Jaune’s female form. Almost Everyone figures out but him. I did think of having Yang be cursed to turn into a guy and Sun into a girl to give Blake Bi-panic, but it would have been too many cursed people. There was also Jaune and Blake being betrothed to make it kinda like Ranma and Akane, but decided against it.
Now into the weird part because my mind is weird. You don’t have to use this, this is just what I wanted to do if I write it. Jaunes is cursed to turn into a female faunus, but later learns his female form is the reincarnation of the faunus god with powers over change and reacts accordingly (screaming for an hour and doesn’t know how to use it, accidentally turning Torchwhich in a faunus at the end of vol 1 before he knew and permanently turning Adam into a child with no memories of what happened before he was 5 at the fall of beacon). Zwei is accidentally turned into a real boy. Mercury forms a poly with Penny and Ruby and swaps sides. Adam wants to use Jaune’s power to turn everyone into a faunus. Cinder is a Yandere. Pyrrha survives but losses a leg. And Every ship is either a crack or rarepairing, except Renora.

Bird Faunus!Ruby: *Sleeping in her fort of 'acquired' materials*
Fun Fact! Corvids (Especially Crows) Have begun tearing up Anti-Bird Spikes and using them in their nests, as it deters other birds, they interlock with each other and branches easily, and are plentiful in many cities.

Hounded by a Hare
(If you would like to know more about the "Hares Breadth AU" check out @pilot-boi as she is the mastermind behind it. These shorts are not to be considered "cannon" to her AU. These are me having fun with her idea. Nothing more.)
The group of four moved through the Mistrailian wilderness, totally unaware they there were being tracked... by two individuals. Jauniper stayed low and belly crawled forward. Despite his bulk he made no sound as he closed in on the mixture of strange but familiar sounds and scents.
He stopped and titled his head upwards, and his eyes narrowed. It was that damnable bird again. From the first time Jauniper saw and then scented the crow, he knew there was something wrong with it. It didn't smell like a bird. It actually had a pungent aroma that burned Jauniper's nose.
Seeing it above, watching the figures that had been fascinating Jauniper for the last week, made the rather timid being rather... angry. Jauniper didn't understand, but somehow he knew the four sitting in the little clearing were important to him. That he knew them.
It was rather confusing, to him and so he did his best to shadow the small group. Tracking them with his sensitive nose, and ears. Their sounds, and smells were ingrained in his mind, and there would be no place that he couldn't find them. But still he needed to be cautious. New was often dangerous, and Jaune didn't like danger.
So seeing that.. bird... Jauniper decided to back off. He would catch up to them the next time they stopped for the night. Then he stopped, as the tall one with red hair rose from her place and did something with her hand before leaving the company of the other three.
Out of all of them, it was the red one that drew upon him the most. It was like there was a link, a binding connection between him and her. So as she walked off, Jaune shot the bird one last look before melting away into the shadows, and following the one that called to him.
There was no way she could evade him, and he easily located her in another clearing. He shivered as he watched her move about, thrusting and swinging a shiny stick about through the air. Jauniper tilted his head. The movements were familiar to him. So familiar that he reached down and picked up his own stick.
He watched, and studied. The movements of her hands and body pulled at something buried deeply in the abyss of his shatter memories. Moving slightly so that he had more room, but could still watch her, Jauniper began to mimic her hand and arm movements.
He thrust his stick forward when she did. He slashed it to the aside as she did. This continued for sometime, ending only when he accidentally smashed his stick against a tree, causing a loud snapping sound to echo about through the darkness.
Then he froze. She was looking in his direction.
"Is someone there?"
Jauniper crouched down, lowering himself into the darker portions of the undergrowth. Jauniper didn't understand the sounds that she was making, but he knew to stay still and quiet.
"Ruby? Ren? Nora?" she called out. "This isn't funny."
Leaving his stick behind, Jauniper, belly crawled back further into the brush, making nary a sound, and once she was out of sight he rose and bounded away.
/==/
Pyrrha gripped Milo in spear form. Her emerald eyes searching the darkness, trying to see where the source of the sound came from. She swore she saw something moving in the shadows, and was prepared for a grimm to rush her... but nothing ever did.
It made her wonder, recalling a couple of times Nora mentioned that she "thought" something was following them. But Pyrrha knew from her schooling that aside from grimm there was nothing native that would follow them. Humans and faunus were avoided by native wildlife.
"Just the wind, maybe?" Pyrrha commented to herself trying to calm her thumping heart.
/==/
It was three days later that Jauniper was once again watching them. His near call making him much to timid to attempt to watch them again. Even after a few days staying away, he easily zeroed in one them, and caught up.
So once again, he watched them. Studied them, as a familiarity began to worm it's way out of the darkness and fog.

RWBY x Transformers...
Could work. Have the main transformers all have cool weaponry and powers then have beastformers be the equivalent of faunus. Set in the pre-Civil War world then have the transformers!RWBY cast exist alongside the canon transformers cast and see how they interact and change their main plotlines.
The Adam Taurus-White Fang would likely join the Deceptions and be their own division within it (and if Megatron ends up having a change of hearts and tries to stop the rebellion from becoming more cruel than those they're overthrowing, then Adam would be quite willing to strike him down and take command which then could lead to a heavily wounded Megatron being saved by Soundwave and the Autobots).
Salem would be a powerful witch that commands Empties and creates mechanical monstrosities who would support the Deceptions in order to ruin all that Ozpin sought to build and in time improve just because he ran away after she called upon Unicron to bring him back to life. Ozpin and Salem would then be among the few truly ancient transformers like Alpha Trion.
Ozpin still appears to merely be the headmaster of the Hunter Academy that fight Salam's Grimm monsters and are meant to help against other foes in a pinch. Through his connections and that cover, he tries to work to improve and ultimately dismantle the caste system that has risen up from within (potentially because he was mourning Salem's fall and/or was her prisoner after he first tried to run and before he finally succeeded in escaping so the caste system became entrenched while he wasn't paying attention and he feels it's his fault). Part of that process has been getting the academy opened from warriors and nobles to all castes and frame types, making the Hunter Corp a legitimate way to rise up in life. But of course, there are those that oppose that and want to push back. Both future Autobots and Decepticons could have being a student here as part of their background. Ozpin himself would definitely support Optimus's Autobots.
Weiss is still the noble daughter of a mining company tycoon, though we can also have Megatron working within Jacques Schnee's mines along with Adam. She still becomes a Huntress to protest what her father's done in his company. I'm imagining a Mercedes Gullwing type car for her vehicle mode and a potentially Praxian frametype.
Blake is a black panther beast former in hiding who joined Adam's rebellion at first but then found that he was going too far and bailed for Ozpin's academy while she tries to figure out what side she should be on. Ruby and Yang are Polyhexian with Ruby just seeking to be a hero like her parents and Yang wanting the thrills. Not quite sure how the Silver Eyes would play out, perhaps from Ozpin's influence. Perhaps a because of being descended from someone uniquely blessed by Primus. Perhaps the descendant of a surviving child of Ozpin & Salem. Yang meanwhile may or may not potentially be a golden raven beastformer since Raven and Qrow would be raven & crow beastformers.
Ironwood would be part of the military and a liaison for the hunters within the military as he's a hunter himself. He's known for how he had half his frame torn off yet he stubbornly held on to life and lived. The two sides of his body are obviously different metals.
The Maidens could work in a way similar to how the Primeship works, though it's best if the former Maiden passes it down before she's offline. The Maiden's power could be drained and taken by someone else, but it's the artifact that holds their power that's the important thing. Only femmes can be Maidens and it could be seen as traditionally a Vestal Virgin sort of duty though the next wielder does not have to be among the Maiden-elects, though typically that's among whom the Maidens choose a successor.
Penny's story could either be about being a cold-construct who was designed to be a huntress or about being a human made robot would ends up with a transformers spark.
It definitely has potential. What do you guys think?
combine your first real fandom with your current one to create a terrible, terrible au

[Fluff] Qrow BranwenX Shion Murailis Batty Love Part Two
Tumblr media
The sun started to rise but ever so slowly to shine through the Windows of Mistral’s Academy room where team RNJR and two members of team RWBY were staying, along with Qrow, Oscar/Ozpin, and Shion. Qrow became the first one to wake up to cover his eyes from the sunray that was blinding him, usually, he’d just ignore it or cover the windows up to go back to sleep but today isn’t one of those days.
Qrow rubbed his tired eyes before stretching his arms and legs out to hear cracking noises from each limb, letting out a yawn as he walked out of the room that he was staying in, reminding himself to remake the bed when he went back in to change into clean clothes; funny that he doesn’t carry suitcases around with clothes in them when he's in his bird form. He shook his head softly before heading into the kitchen.
The morning wasn’t exactly his best friend due to reasons like getting his eyes blinded by the morning sunray or being up too early and not going back to sleep, on the plus side he doesn’t usually drink alcohol in the mornings, only drinking coffee for that matter to wake up. Qrow took a deep breath before making breakfast for everyone, having his mind on last night’s confession with Shion.
Shion was someone that he wanted to spend his life with even if he’s a bad luck charm and keeping secrets for his and Ozpin’s sake, although it seems like everyone is starting to question things. Tell them when we return from our scouting for recruits for an upcoming fight… He soon went to make the table while things cooked for a minute or two, making him check once and a while as he placed silverware down beside the plates.
Soon the former students from Beacon and Oscar/Ozpin came into the kitchen, making the older male look over his shoulder to watch them taking a seat at the table. “Uncle Qrow, I didn’t know that you cooked.” Ruby had her head tilted to the side while being the innocent teen that she was, making her uncle chuckle at her, having a plate with pancakes on it, and placing it on the table. “I used to cook for you and Yang when you two were young.” He started with another chuckle.
Shion rubbed her tired eyes as she joined the others at the table with her wings tucked onto her back, placing her head on the table due to being woken up in the morning wasn’t the best thing for a bat Faunus but who could blame them? Some bat Faunus prefer sleeping all day and coming out during the nighttime, except for students at some Academies since classes are in the morning and more.
Shion soon looked up to Qrow with an apron on which made her chuckle softly. It was nice to see someone like him in an apron while he was preparing breakfast for everyone. “Pancakes for breakfast?” She asked with a toothy smile on her face, and couldn't wait to try out her new lover’s cooking. However last night’s confession was extremely hard for Qrow but he managed to pull through and confessed to her.
The new couple wanted to wait until they were ready to tell everyone else that they were dating now, sadly that had to wait until they got back from the recruiting hunters or huntress that were still able to fight. Qrow wanted to wait until the afternoon to search for them with Shion, except he was getting a bad feeling that today wasn’t going to be one of those best days that they were going to have.
Ruby didn’t recall trying out her uncle’s cooking when she was young, rubbing the back of her head in thought to remember anything. “Believe me, sis, Uncle Crow's cooking is the best when it comes down to breakfast, lunch, and dinner.” Yang places a hand on her sister’s shoulder with a big smile on her face, being the little trickster that she was, and gives her younger sister a buggy on the head.
Everyone from RNJR and Weiss started to laugh at the sister’s silliness at the table, and Shion joined in the fun since head nuggie can be fun to do to a family member or a close friend for that matter. Qrow couldn’t help but chuckle at his two nieces who seemed to cheer him up, along with seeing them being their old selves after what happened to Beacon and their friends during that horrible outbreak with the Grimm and the White Fang.
Soon morning went by and everyone had their fill of pancakes and fruit that goes with the said breakfast, everyone seemed to be doing their own thing and well Ozpin who took over Oscar’s body went to train Ruby hand to hand combat, due to her skills with hand to hand combat wasn’t exactly great because she relies on her weapon to do the job. “Shion, are you ready to go?” He put his attention on Shion.
“Yes, I’m ready to go on our little mission,” Shion replied to his question while grabbing her weapon from the table that she had placed it on when she went to eat breakfast, never leave a weapon behind in case you need it the most. Soon the two left the room together which caused both Yang and Nora to be curious about what was going on between Qrow and Shion, although they could wait until they came back.
Mistral seems like a peaceful Kingdom but that didn’t make Qrow any better due to being on guard, something like another Grimm outbreak can happen again and it made him a bit uneasy with the thought. “Listen Shion, I need to tell you something...  But it has to be kept a secret between us two.” Qrow had both hands in his pockets while trying to find a way to explain things to the female.
Magic is real and it could even bring the dead back, however, Ozpin gave him and his twin sister the ability to turn into birds. “What is it, Qrow?” Shion asked while keeping up with the older male. “It’s hard to explain things when there are many things on my mind and how you’ll react.” He grunted softly while rubbing his forehead, only feeling the comforting hand on his cheek. “Whatever it is, you can trust me.” She smiled softly. ~~~~~ Part Two Out Of Three

About:
Qrow Branwen is the younger of the Branwen twins, but he doesn’t exactly have a good relationship with his sister, Raven. As young children, they were raised by bandits, always on the alert for huntsmen or huntresses. They were great at surviving, but Qrow always felt like he could do more - be more. It was his idea to suggest that he and Raven become students at Beacon Academy, hiding the fact that he didn’t want to live the way he had by saying he and Raven could learn the ways the huntsmen fought, defend and kill any who got in their way during raids.
Despite never having gone to other academies, he and Raven scored almost perfect on their entrance exams. The two excelled, being assigned to team STRQ. Qrow quickly became friends with Tai and Summer, Raven kept her distance at first, but became enamored of her blonde teammate. Though the team bent and broke rules, they never really received consequences. They were nearing graduation when Ozpin explained to them why he had allowed them such special treatment. The four maidens and the woman who sought to end the world by gaining their powers; Salem. He gave them the choice to aid him, to grant them a very special ability. The two accepted and helping track Salem and trying to save the world gave Qrow a sense of purpose he hadn’t realized he’d lacked. When his first niece Yang was born, he vowed to do anything he could to take care of her. Raven left shortly after, returning to her life as a bandit. To Qrow, his sister leaving her daughter was a blow given how often she insisted they put their family first. So Qrow stayed and helped Tai get through it as best he could with Summer’s help. A few years later, little Ruby was born and the moment Qrow saw those silver eyes, he knew one day Ruby would be a warrior worthy to be feared.
When trails on Salem ran cold, Qrow taught at Signal Academy until leads came up. It was at this school he trained many students, including both of his nieces, though Ruby took to his training with ease. When she made a scythe/sniper rifle combo of her own as a weapon, Qrow couldn’t be prouder. But he still had things to take care of, and by this time, he’d become quite enamored of alcohol. When Ruby was put ahead two years, Qrow was off following a new lead - and saving the Fall Maiden. by the time he returned, Ruby’s team was already doing investigations of their own and Ozpin was allowing them leeway. Qrow knew it was only a matter of time before Ruby, Yang and their teammates became a part of the fight he’d joined years prior. However, the attack on Beacon brought a new sense of hopelessness, and Qrow found and brought Ruby back to her dad. While he went off to do his part, Tai stayed to tend to his daughters. But it didn’t take too long before he was trailing Ruby to keep her and the teammates of a fallen friend on their way to the very place he was headed on his way to attempt to find Oz’s new form. Getting to Mistral proofed to be revealing in many ways.
Ozpin found his way to Qrow and the others, Yang showed up with Weiss after the heiress had been kidnapped by Raven, and Professor Lionheart - a faunus huntsmen who had been an underling of Ozpin’s was revealed to be a traitor. During the ensuing battle, Blake returned as well, and the group decided they needed to get to Atlas. Qrow was at the helm to help, but he struggled with the revelation that Salem - the main villain they’d been fighting against - couldn’t be killed. But it took his youngest niece, his beloved little Ruby, to knock sense into him and put him back on track. However, getting to Atlas has not been the easiest of methods

Of Birds and Knights
Back in September I made a short joke about Ruby being a bird faunus and doing a mating dance to get Jaune's attention. In that time I've wrote out a little longer version of the story.
I'd like to thank @thatorigamiguy and @howlingday for adding some pretty great reblogs which really expanded the story of that original post. And of course inspiring me to make this.
So enjoy 3170 unedited words worth of me trying to be funny. It didn't work.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Ruby Rose was a bird faunus. Well, a hooded crow faunus if one wanted to be specific. Which wasn’t too bad. She got some cool wings and a tail with black and red tipped feathers. Which, yes, she could use to fly sometimes. She could whistle like a champ, and she could sing pretty well too. If one were so fortunate to catch her doing so. She’ll even coo if someone ran their hand through her hair, but she’ll take that secret to her grave.
Sure, there were some people who were a bit mean to her. Washing her wings could be a pain, sometimes literally. And having people come up to her asking for her to shake her tail feathers was a bit weird.
But overall, it wasn’t too bad to be a bird faunus. So, why was Ruby pacing on one of Beacon’s rooftops one morning?
Well, you see, she was having these dreams. No, no, no! Not those kind of dreams. Nothing filthy or anything like that. So, if they weren’t filthy then why were they such a concern to the girl? Well, the best way to explain would be to recount one of these dreams.
They would usually start with Ruby building a nest. Running around looking for cool sticks. Finding nice bits of, usually red, fabric to add. Putting in a few shiny things to bring it all together. Adding some pillows and blankets for some extra comfort. Completely normal things that she was sure every girl dreamed of!
Then he would show up and make it all weird.
The “he” being Beacon’s resident blond knight to be, and Ruby’s best boy friend, Jaune Arc.
At first, he would just lay down beside her. Then they would start touching each other. Cuddling, He would even pat Ruby’s head. Then they would start kissing and holding hands. Okay so maybe her dreams were filthy, but only a little bit.
As you can imagine, Ruby was a mess after she had this dream. She couldn’t even look at Jaune for most of that day without becoming a blushing mess. Much to Jaune’s confusion. Which didn’t go unnoticed by a certain sunny dragon.
The teasing. Oh gods, the teasing. It was merciless.
But eventually Ruby did get over her embarrassment. That was until she had the exact same dream that night, and for every night over the last few weeks.
Which brings us back to Ruby’s current crisis. Why was she having these dreams? For the first week the answer alluded her, but now it was clear as day. Even to someone as usually uninterested in the topic as Ruby.
Ruby Rose had a crush on Jaune Arc, and she had no idea what to do about it. She couldn’t ask Yang, for reasons that should be fairly obvious. Weiss… well she would just insult Jaune instead of helping. Blake would probably say to do something lewd. Nora had her own boy problems to overcome. And Pyrrha… well she wasn’t an option.
Ruby sat on the edge of the roof wondering what she was going to do. This wasn’t exactly her area of expertise. Why couldn’t this be simple, like making a weapon? Actually, maybe she could forge Jaune a sword? A dagger, maybe? Or maybe a sword that turned into a sniper and a rocket launcher! See that was simple. Love, not so much.
She stared down at the park her metaphorical perch overlooked.
Maybe she could bake him some cookies? Yeah, that was a good idea. Special “Will you pretty please go on a date with me” cookies. It just might work. But what kind of cookie did Jaune like? She couldn’t just make any type of cookie for him. It would have to be a type he loved. Nothing less would be acceptable.
But she couldn’t just go up to him and ask. “Hey Jaune, what kind of cookie do you love so much that you would fall in love with the girl who made them for you?” No, she would have to do some reconnaissance. Be all sneaky like. Maybe Blake could help her with that? She can be pretty sneaky when she wanted to be.
It was then that Ruby noticed something. The object of her current crisis, and affections, sitting on a bench below her. Feeding the birds. Spreading out bit of corn for the pigeons when he should be feeding Ruby corn!
Getting over her momentary corn-based jealousy, which is a normal feeling that normal people have, she came to a realization. Now would be the perfect time for some spying. She would just need to use a little trick that her father had taught her.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Jaune had just sit down in his favorite spot. It was in a quiet corner of Beacon’s courtyard. A few trees providing some nice shade. Though surprisingly few people came to this section. Which Jaune was more than happy to take advantage of. It was nice to have a quiet corner all to himself.
Sometimes it was hard to find some peace and quiet in his dorm. Nora would usually make sure of that. Jaune had come to see the energetic young girl as a true friend, but man, could she be a handful sometimes. He had no idea how Ren handled her. That man had the patience of several saints.
Even Pyrrha could be a bit distracting at times. Jaune understood that she liked to sleep naked. It can get pretty hot in those rooms sometimes. Really it wouldn’t be a problem if she didn’t toss and turn so much in her sleep, which would mean that her blanket usually ended up in the floor instead of covering her.
Which made it pretty hard for Jaune to get things done while she was taking a nap. Which she started taking a lot more of lately. How strange.
Jaune stared up at the sky for a few moments after taking a seat. It had been an interesting few months since he arrived at Beacon. He’d made some good friends. Killed a few grimm. Nobody knew about his transcripts besides his partner and Cardin. And he managed to not die yet. It was going great.
But it was stressful as hell.
Which is why he’d made a habit of coming out here to feed the birds, speaking of. Jaune pulled out a brown paper bag containing bits of dried corn and scattered them on the ground. And soon his feathered friends appeared. Well, most of them at least.
Ruby was probably off doing something with her team. He wouldn’t have minded her company. She always had a way of making things make sense for Jaune. Even if half of what she talked about involved pointy things or things exploding.
It was then that a bird perched itself on the bench next to Jaune. To say it wasn’t like the others was a bit of an understatement. Well for one, it was a crow. Second being its coloration. With black feathers that became red at the tips. Almost like Ruby’s actually. Well, isn’t that neat. Lastly it was staring at him. Not at the food, but at him. With little silver eyes.
Jaune did what he usually did with the birds. Offered some food. “Want some food, buddy.” He said to the crow before throwing another handful of corn onto the ground. Which the crow responded to with a quick caw and walking closer to Jaune. Eventually crawling up onto his lap.
“Do you want to be hand fed?” Jaune asked the crow, holding out another handful of corn. To which the crow responded with another caw before staring to peck at the corn kernels in his hand. He sat and watched the crow for a minute. It was strangely familiar.
“You know little guy, you kind of remind me of my friend Ruby.” He said, because normal people talk to strange birds, “Or well, I guess your coloration does. Black feathers with red tips. At least that’s what she has on her tail feathers. I’ve never actually seen her wings, but I would guess they have the same pattern.”
The crow stopped eating and returned to staring at Jaune as he carried on his rambling.
“Which I get. I mean with people like Cardin around it’s not she can go around just displaying them, but I guess it’s a bit weird not to have seen them. I don’t know. I bet they would be pretty, though. Well, she’s already pretty so I guess that would just make her prettier. Does that make sense?” He asked the crow.
The crow didn’t respond this time. Simply continuing to stare at Jaune.
“Guess it doesn’t really make-“ Jaune was interrupted by his scroll buzzing. “What is it this time. ‘Nora found the sap. All over the dorm.’ Welp, better go sort that out. See you later Red? Can I call you that?”
The crow again responded with a caw as Jaune sat up to leave. The crow standing on the back of the bench watching him go.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Ruby, still perched on the bench, watched Jaune walk away before flying back to her previous spot on the roof. She transformed back into her regular form and started pacing on the roof again.
“He said I was pretty,” She said still pacing back and forth, “Not cute. Not adorable. Pretty.”
Oh, Ruby was in trouble. Her plan had pretty much failed. She learned nothing about the kind of cookies he liked and just ended up all flustered.
“What am I going to do,” She said laying down on the rough surface of the roof, “Why can’t this just be easy. Why can’t I just say that I like him!” She screamed towards the heavens. No, it can’t just be that simple. She had to do something to make him notice her. To make him want to ask her out. That would be so much easier, but what?
She laid there thinking. “It has to be something that’ll work fast. Something awesome. Something that’ll make me irresistible.” She needed something. Anything! If only she had someone, she could ask that would actually be helpful. “If only…”
She paused. Maybe she did have someone that could help her. Someone that always gave her good advice. But asking her would be a drastic measure, but Ruby couldn’t risk Jaune falling for Pyrrha while Ruby was indecisive.
No, now was the time for drastic measures. So, Ruby would bring out the big guns.
She’d call her mom and ask for her advice. “Sorry Pyrrha,” Ruby said bringing up her mom’s number on her contact list “But that Arc booty is mine!”
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Summer was enjoying the cool morning air while tending to her garden. She was still getting use to Yang and Ruby being gone, but she was getting through the days just fine.
Maybe she should start taking on missions again? Ozpin would probably be happy to have her back in the field. Though Qrow would probably have a much less positive reaction. Considering how close her last mission came to being the end of Summer Rose.
Summer’s scroll started to buzz. “It’s Ruby,” She said looking at the caller ID. “Hopefully RWBY isn’t in trouble again.” She said to herself before answering the call. “Hello Ruby.”
“Hi Mom,” Ruby said, “Do you have a minute to talk? I kind of need your help with something.”
“I’m just doing a little gardening, so I’ve got time to chat. What do you need help with?”
Ruby started fidgeting and rubbing her fingers against her cloak. A little nervous habit she picked up from her father. “Well, you see I… Well, I umm… I kind of…” She trailed off.
Oh, she was definitely nervous about something, but not the same kind of nervous she was when her team got up to something dangerous. She usually only acted like this when Yang would tease her about getting a boyfriend.
Wait, Summer’s mother senses were tingling and more importantly her grandmother senses! It was finally happening. Ruby likes a boy!
“You need help with a boy, don’t you?” Summer said, holding back her excitement for the moment.
“…Yes.” Ruby said sporting a healthy blush.
“Who is it, honey? That nice boy you met on your first day?” Summer said.
“Yeah, it’s Jaune.”
Jaune, from what Summer had heard about Ruby’s fellow team leader he was a perfect gentleman, if not that great of a fighter. Helping Ruby out on her first day like that. Almost like Qrow did with Summer all those years ago. And the fact that Summer was good friends with Jaune’s mother helped. Though it was a shame that they never had the opportunity to meet before they both went off to Beacon.
“Well, why don’t you tell me why you like him, rosebud.” Summer said, more than happy to do a little motherly snooping.
“Well, he’s really kind, and brave. He fought an ursa by himself once.” Ruby said in what was the beginning of what Summer sensed would be a long ramble. “He likes all the same comics I do. We play games together and stuff. He always helps me with my work for our leadership class. He doesn’t zone out when I talk about weapons, and he actually asks questions. He pays attention! And, well umm…” Ruby paused with her blush deepening.
“Go on.” Summer said. Trying to encourage her daughter.
“Well… he has a nice butt.”
That earned a rather hardy snort laugh out of Summer, and a rather disgruntled “Mom,” out of Ruby.
“Sorry dear,” Summer said wiping a tear from her eye, “Like mother like daughter, I guess. So, I’m guessing you called to ask for some advice?”
“Yeah, what am I supposed to do. Ask him out? I’d probably just end up running away if I tried.” Ruby said with a defeated look on her face.
“Honestly Ruby, I don’t know if I can really help you there. I spend three years following your father around before he noticed me. I wasn’t the one to ask him out.”
“Well, he definitely isn’t going to notice me. Pyrrha’s had a huge crush on him all year and if he doesn’t notice her… I don’t like my chances.”
“You’ll just have to do something to make him notice. That’s what I did.”
Ruby quirked an eyebrow “What did you do to make dad notice?”
“Well, you see, I did a mating dance.”
“A mating dance?”
“Yeah, since your father is a bird faunus I figured it would make him do, something. Either he would ask me out or he would turn me down, both were better options than me just pining after, and eventually losing, him.”
“That… That might work.” Ruby muttered to herself.
“What was that, dear. I couldn’t hear you.”
“Oh, I said thanks mom. I think I have an idea of what I should do now.”
“Well, that’s great. I hope it goes well, rosebud!”
“Thanks mom, I’ll talk to you later.”
And with that Ruby had a plan. To do a mating dance for Jaune. If she could work up the courage to try it that is.
If only love could be simple.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Today was the day. Either Ruby and Jaune would be dating after this, or they would just be best friends, but Ruby wouldn’t just let nothing happen. Or take the chance that Pyrrha wouldn’t make a move eventually. Nope. Today was the day.
So today Ruby was sitting on the bench that Jaune usually did when he fed the birds. Waiting for him to come. It wasn’t quite as private of a place as Ruby would have liked it to be, but it was about as private as she was going to get. So, there she waited until eventually her knight made an appearance.
“Ruby?” Jaune said surprised that anyone knew about his spot, “What are you doing out here? Don’t you usually spar with Weiss this time of day?”
“Yeah, usually.” She said, standing from the bench taking one last deep breath. “But I have something I want to show you. Something special.”
“Really? What is it?” He said.
It was now or never.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Jaune was surprised when he found Ruby out here by herself. He was more surprised when she said she had something to show him. And even more so when she unfolded her wings in front of him. He’d admittedly never seen her wings, but he had to say they were quite beautiful.
When Ruby started dancing well Jaune was figuratively, and almost literally, knocked off his feet. First by the fact that it was Ruby of all people dancing. She rarely put herself front and center.
Second being the fluidity of her dance. Her movements fine and controlled as she spun and weaved her way around him. Her wings hiding and revealing parts of her as she moved. Her tailfeathers and hips moving side to side rhythmically. It was really quite something. And Jaune was mesmerized by it.
And lastly, a fact that became more and more apparent as she danced closer, was that she was dancing for him. Jaune couldn’t do or say anything. He was simply overwhelmed by that fact. A pretty girl was dancing for him. His best friend, or perhaps they were more than that?
Finally, Ruby’s dance came to an end as she wrapped Jaune in her wings and looked into his eyes. Her face was as red as her cloak, she was breathing hard, but there was determination in her beautiful silver eyes. “So, did you like my mating dance.” She asked.
“Mating dance?” He said quirking his head to the side. Mating dance. So did that mean she wanted to… “Wait, does that mean you want me to be your mate?”
“Yeah! Though you can say we’re boyfriend and girlfriend if you prefer that.” She said still staring into his eyes.
She wanted to be his girlfriend. She wanted him to be his boyfriend. Or mates, or whatever.
“…Yes, I’ll be your mate.”
“Really!” She said with a squeak.
“Yeah,” he said wrapping his arms around her waist.
“Great.” She said laying her head against his chest. “Well, as my boyfriend do you think you could do a little favor for me?”
“Sure, what do you need?”
“Can you carry me back to my room,” She said her face turning several shades redder, “That was actually really, really, really, embarrassing.”
So, with that Jaune picked up his new “mate” and they headed off to her room.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Jaune and Ruby laid in their “nest”, the nest being Ruby’s bed with a ring of blankets and pillows around them. Ruby was fast asleep cuddled up next to Jaune. Softly cooing as he ran his fingers through her feather soft hair.
This wasn’t exactly how Jaune thought he would get his first girlfriend, but he couldn’t say that he would have it any other way.

Me: Im not going to talk about RT or RWBY anymore
Also Me:
I noticed alot of errors in one of my favorite fights in RWBY volume 4, RNJRQrow vs Tyrian. Im going to focus on the middle of the fight since I want to focus on animation errors rather than more pressing issues like Ruby cutting of Tyrian's tail or Ruby thinking he's in the WF once she learns he's a faunus. I'll leave that to the intellectuals. Alright hwre we go
The fight starts with Ren pullinh some Star Wars force energy, fight commences then they talk about how Tyrian wants to take Ruby, fight again, talk again about how Tyrian is a faunus and that he isn't worker for the WF, Roman Torchwick, or Cinder, fight again. Alot of on/off action, too much talking.
Tumblr media
Ren gets kicked^^
Tumblr media
Jaune gets kicked but he blocks it^^
Tumblr media
Nora gets flung back in a very over dramatic way, we then see Ren charge again^^
Tumblr media
Ren dodges a kick and jumps away, hehe stretchy leg Ren. Tyrian then runs off to his next opportunity, and it cuts to him fighting Ruby. ^^. Keep this particular move in mind, put a pin in it
Tumblr media
Tyrian gets a combo on Ruby. In between we cut back to Crow Qrow flying desperately and running as well, not as important of a detail but I might as well mention it
Tumblr media
As Ruby lays down with no Aura where is the rest of NJR?
Tumblr media
Nora holding Ren^^. Ren who jumped away, he wasn't hit he actively jumped away.
Tumblr media
And we cut to Jaune's upper body, standing there upset^^. We dont see him run, or hurt, or anything. We see him in shock then scowl. You'd think after losing Pyrrha it would be Jaune of all people trying to save Ruby.
Tumblr media
I get that its a build up for Qrow to save the day, admittedly one of the most bad ass RWBY moments (also another moment of the adults saving the teens who think they can do everything on their own) but its only due to the fact that all of the other characters were suddenly dumb aka the writers made them dumb.
Tumblr media
Its not until Qrow and Tyrian are fighting that the others finally make it over to Ruby (offscreen) and start to guard her.
I love this fight, its one of the best of the volume since this season only had about six of them and its what got me used to the new engine they used. But like all things RT its still got some garbage somewhere in the midst some people haven't seen yet.
Well anyway, hope yall enjoy my analysis nitpick

Okay. Bit more explanation as to my thoughts on the horned man being a god.
Quick little side note is that this theory is hinged on the idea that there were four gods of Remnant, as everything in this show comes in fours, and that Light and Darkness got rid of the other two for some unknown reason. There is a secondary bit of this theory that theorizes that these two missing gods are faunus, which lines up with The Shallow Sea and The Judgement of the Faunus from Fairytales of Remnant. I am not the creator of this theory and I unfortunately don’t know who started it.
TLDR - the horned person from the trailer might be a banished god of Remnant, and might be the god of Choice or Knowledge.
If there are, in fact, four gods of Remnant, and they do line up with the four relics, that would theoretically make Light and Darkness, respectively, Creation and Destruction, leaving Choice and Knowledge.
“But Crow,” you say, “wouldn’t it be more thematically appropriate - if this guy is a god - for him to be Destruction? Because Ever After seems like a place that’s run by chaos, and chaos is usually linked to destruction in opposition of order (or the creation of rules and laws).
And I would say yes. Operative word being “would.” But Darkness destroyed the fucking moon and is somewhat linked to death in the old world before Remnant, with Light being the equivalent of Life. So yeah. Creation and Destruction.
Which leaves our weird little freak, if he is a god of Remnant, to be either Choice or Knowledge.
“But Crow,” you say, “that doesn’t make any sense.”
It does if you consider them in the extreme.
If he is Choice, it would make sense that the people of the Ever After can do whatever they want - and that applies to the physics of this world as well, which is why everything looks so balls to the wall insane. Or, considering how he looks a bit sinister (and we know the gods to be assholes) it could be the absence of Choice. No one is allowed to do anything that upsets him, and the world reflects whatever he wants. @cinnakincat and I recently discussed the actions of Light and Darkness, and she likened them bringing Ozma back and killing him again and repeating that cycle of tug of war (and Darkness only becoming angry when he realized that Salem had gone to Light first) as two children fighting over a toy and doing things just to spite their sibling. If this new god is anything like that, childish, the lawlessness of Ever After could be his own choice, but he throws a tantrum whenever he thinks someone threatens those choices he makes.
On the opposite side of the argument, although less plausible, we have Knowledge. This might be a bit more abstract, but I propose the idea that either the entire Ever After is gifted with wisdom, something like Jinn not not as powerful. These creatures are content with the Knowledge they have and the world constructed around this Knowledge looks abstract to everyone else (sounding like nonsense) but makes perfect sense to them. This could be backed by everyone asking Ruby “what” she is, meant more in the philosophical context and not the physical sense. Or, everyone could actually be speaking absolute nonsense and have a lack of Knowledge, kept ignorant by their god because he wishes to hold his intellect over them.
I think Choice would be more likely.

Fucking hell, someone wrote a hitpiece on Ice queendom, calling Weiss Schnee the fictional embodiment of White Supremacy (not RWBY proper, RWBY Ice Queendom). Will send if you're drunk enough to rip it a new one.
RWBY: Ice Queendom’s Weiss Schnee Embodies White Supremacy (cbr.com)
Do not click the link. Not because this is virus filled nor gore filled nor am I begging for you to not fact check me-
But because you'll be giving them money.
Another main character who is determined to become a Huntress is Weiss Schnee, the wealthy daughter of Jacques Schnee and heiress of the highly profitable Schnee Dust Company. To accomplish this life goal, Weiss enrolls in the Beacon Academy and is placed in a group with Ruby, Yang and Blake after she successfully survives her entrance exam. Despite Weiss wanting to forge her own path in life as opposed to being bound to her family legacy, she quickly proves to be an unpleasant person to her teammates and many other people at her school. While there's no question Weiss is a highly skilled fighter, her narcissism is the worst thing about her, as it is shaped by white supremacy.
Okay so first off- There is no races in Remnant. There are humans and there are Fanaus, who are basically a different species. Yes people have different skin tones but no one cares about that and they can come from any Kingdom or location. So 'white supremacy' doesn't even fit.
Second- Weiss very much DOES want to follow her family legacy. Ice Queendom STILL exists with the context of the original series which showed that Weiss' family was originally a good and well meaning group with her maternal grandfather Nicolas, only recently turning sour with Jacques taking over. Which parallels the WF with Blake, Ghira and Adam/Sienna. Kind of an important detail.
Throughout RWBY: Ice Queendom Episode 1, audience members are shown the highly privileged world Weiss is born into. One thing that stands out right away is how much her lifestyle resembles that of a European elite from the 18th century. Apart from living in a large, luxurious mansion that's accessible to no one outside their circle, it's also established that the Schnee family amassed their wealth by hoarding the world's most valuable resource and profiting from it. This alone is indicative of a history of exploitation colonialism -- a major hallmark of imperialism, which also comes from a place of white supremacy.
Yes, a European elite...which includes all of the life and death fights and famlial abuse one could ever ask for.
Yeah uh, for the like 0.2 people reading this that don't know this- Weiss had to fight a rigged battle against a deadly Grimm to go to Beacon and not Atlas, which would keep her under her father's direct thumb. She has also been shown to be used and ignored by her father, up to and including financial abuse through cutting her off when she didn't talk to him and using her for a PR stunt despite her clear discomfort and after a DEEPLY TRAMUATIC EVENT.
Also- the Schnee Dust Company doesn't hoard shit. They MINE and REFINE Dust. Are they predatory and drive out competition? Yes but that is not HOARDING.
Further building on the theme of exploitation colonialism is how the Schnee family exploits the labor of a vulnerable population known as the Faunus. Although they resemble human beings, they have some animal-like traits that cause the Schnees to abuse them like animals. This is no different from the way real-life white European settlers exploited and abused Black and Indigenous people through slave labor. Within the context of Remnant, the Schnees' abuse and exploitation of the Faunus is what led to the radicalization of some group members known as the White Fang, who fight for their liberation by hurting the Schnees' profits.
No, it's more similar to Jim Crow laws in that Atlas society still looks down on Fanaus so they don't get as many rights. The Schnees don't OWN them, they are just used like it. Not to mention the SCHNEES don’t do it- JACQUES SCHNEE does. Willow, Whitely and Winter never abuse any Fanaus in the show and Weiss does the OPPOSITE. But hey, nuance written by two drunk guys is just too much to handle eh?
Also, the WF isn't focused on cutting into the SDC's profits- That is never once stated. And in the show, it’s clear it’s just basic retaliation for their business practices. Which even Weiss doesn’t agree with.
The family's abusive treatment of the Faunus and other groups is further reflected in Weiss' own treatment of her classmates at the Beacon Academy. On her way to the school entrance exam, where she has to work alongside another classmate to fight her way through a forest and collect an artifact, Weiss is seen talking over lower-class students commenting unfavorably on her family. When they especially discuss the Schnees' exploitation of their workers, Weiss' bigoted views of the lower classes and Faunus really come through, and tends to categorize people in extremely black-and-white terms: groups of people are either all good or all bad.
...Did you break into my grandpa’s stash or something?
Weiss only ever talks down to Ruby and Jaune. With Ruby, it was because she was acting immature and not taking things seriously. With Jaune it’s because...he’s Jaune. Everyone shits on Jaune. His own voice actor shits on him. That’s just who Jaune is.
None of this has ANYTHING to do with them being class or status or...whatever! It has to do with Weiss being a stereotypical spoiled princess archetype.
Oh and Weiss only ever judged the Fanaus...who she was only exposed to through the terroristic White Fang. She never claims humans are better so not only is the ‘white’ in white supremacy dead here- so is the SUPREMACY PART.
Another major hallmark of Weiss' white supremacist upbringing is her tendency to subscribe to her own exceptionalism, which blinds her to the reality of her place as an oppressor with unearned privileges among disenfranchised people. This is mostly notable through her tendency to disregard other people's rules so that she always gets her way. Her first attempt at "bending" the rules in her favor came in the form of trying to recruit Pyrrha into her group for the entrance exam, even though the rules explicitly stated she had to team up with the first person she encountered in the forest.
It. Was. A. JOKE.
Look, I know that they’re talking about Weiss in Ice Queendom so it seems that I shouldn’t be judging them based on the original show...but Ice Queendom wasn’t made to exist in a vaccum. Judging from how it cut certain parts of the show- It’s made to exist ALONGSIDE the original, not as a replacement. That’s why it can get away with cutting JNPR’s scenes- it’s not meant to replace the original but be a side story focused on Team RWBY. It’s also why they have so much focus on iconic scenes from Volume 1- Fanservice.
You need the context of the original to be primed for Ice Queendom. But this article seems to be completely IGNORANT of the original. So they keep fucking up.
Oh and P.S. Blake, that disenfranchised person, had a loving father and mother. Something Weiss never had. ... Really shows you how this oppression bullshit can fall apart huh?
Weiss' reasoning for wanting Pyrrha in her group is the same reason she rejects offers from other students like Jaune Arc; she perceives Pyrrha to be of a superior human race, whereas she thinks of Jaune as being in a class beneath her. Although Pyrrha acts coolly around Weiss to maintain group harmony, it's clear she's not impressed with her narcissism and avoids her in the forest when the entrance exam starts. When it becomes clear to Weiss that she isn't going to get her way, she paints herself as the victim and blames other people for her own actions.
Please...go back to claiming Jaune is a misogynyist. Because we found something even dumber than ‘Jaune Arc is wish fulfillment power fantasy’.
Weiss' final attempt to get her way comes after the entrance exam, when she is placed in a group with Ruby, Yang and Blake, with Ruby appointed as leader. Since Weiss cannot fathom being instructed by a student she considers beneath her, she tries to get the school headmaster to reverse his decision and appoint her as leader, believing she is better qualified for the role due to her hard work and social standing. To her surprise, however, the school headmaster states that her very narcissism makes her a poor candidate for leadership.
...
Tumblr media Tumblr media
... You didn’t even watch Ice Queendom did you?!
For the role of leader, the school headmaster needs a student who can work with each team member unbiasedly. It is for this reason that Ruby was chosen to be her group's leader and not Weiss. It finally becomes clear to Weiss that if she's going to stand a chance at Beacon Academy, she needs to unlearn her white supremacist thinking and work on being a better person.
White people don’t exist in Remnant.
It was never said directly WHY Ozpin choose Ruby in EITHER version.
Port was calling her out for acting entitled.
Ruby and Weiss are both humans.
Port is NOT THE FUCKING HEADMASTER.
Weiss never speaks about people’s class in the show.
She also never ascertains that humans or herself are better.-
The one line in the whole article that was right was ‘work on being a better person’. And congrats- you understand what CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT is.
1/100 is still an F.

Searching for Cinder's Suitor
Tumblr media
Everyone knows the R/WBY ships are full of opposite elements stuff. You've heard enough from me about it, and lots of other smarter and cleverer people have talked about Ruby's magical silver eyes to Oscar's magical gold eyes, Blake's dark to Yang's light, so on and so forth. Like them, the person she should be paired romantically with should be something opposite of her element. It's contextually sensitive to her, like yin/yang is to Blake/Yang.
There are a couple of things we could use to narrow down Cinder's romantic suitor. Today, I'm going to focus on water, for the following reasons: a) it's not Jung for once, or it only sort of is b) since fire is such a major element for her, finding someone water-themed and obvious should be easy, and finally, c) because water is just one part of the opposite pairs, it'll be very handy to narrow down our competitors.
The reason I don't say ice is because fire/ice is more of an aggressive pair, and in R/WBY I don't think Cinder is going to end up with someone who is icy/symbolically represents Atlas (cold, snowy) or is Atlesian because of the obvious. At the very least, I don't think reconciliation with her past will be represented through that - it's room for another post (especially with how she projects onto the Schnees). When I personally think of fire/ice, I'm thinking of the Robert Frost poem, about - glibly - whether world ending in fire or ice is better.
Your first objection might be that Yang has the fire to her - so there's 'already one' - but in her case that's more to do with her solar theming and light theming to Blake's dark. It is also part of symbolically connecting Yang to Cinder, since Cinder carries a lot of composite elements to the characters.
But because I think most of us can agree fire is Cinder's thing, so then Cinder needs water.
This season of The Fall Maiden Wants a Spouse is going to be very interesting.
Winter - no
Ice-themed. Cinder targets her because she represents her suffering (directly calls her Atlesian elite). Fellow Maiden who uses lightning (which mimics Cinder's torture with the collar) when used against Cinder. No water element.
Watts - no
We've barely started and this is already making me laugh.
Tyrian - no
He's a scorpion Faunus. Causes trouble and loves it. Would be inappropriate even if water-themed.
Hazel - no
Unable to attend the wedding in person. Uses a myriad of Dust, no particular one to pick out as an element.
Salem - no
Stop it.
Emerald - no
Emerald is not water-themed, and might just be emerald-themed, like Ruby is... ruby.
Mercury - no
'Quicksilver'. Probably mercury-themed. Quicksilver might be a bit like Ruby and potentially Cinder's metallic element, but silver is not what we're looking for here in a suitor.
Neo - no
I think she's icecream-themed. Cinder kicked her off a bridge; I think she might be communicating something to us.
Roman - no
No.
Raven - no
A fellow Maiden and antagonist to Cinder, Raven is not water-themed. Raven-themed. Might be Branwen, Daughter of Llŷr themed. Also would be weird considering Yang and the age bracket difference wouldn't work for R/WBY. (Cinder has to pass as a student and is like twenty-four at most. Don't make me start this here).
Penny - no
Penny was the Winter Maiden, probably copper-themed, and when she used the Maiden powers, her powers eventually evolved into like what Winter uses with the green thunder/lightning (and borrowed Cinder's weapon idea). No water here, and I think her magic was intentionally meant to be a bit inorganic/liminal.
Skipping over the Ace-ops, none of them are it.
Ironwood - no
Probably tin, but nothing else to see here.
Qrow - no
Crow-themed. Probably would say no even if offered the narrative opportunity.
Tai - no
RWBY Chibi is not canon. Dad of other fire girl. Would make things weird. The story is not THAT Freudian.
Summer Rose - no
I told you, it's not Freud (Cinder is too much like Ruby). Anyway, no water to be seen here yet, but seems unlikely. Might share a Grimm curse.
Ilia - no
Lunar-themed but no water association by extension. Electric-themed? Rainbow-themed? Electric whip would not go down well with Cinder, probably.
Adam - no
Wilting rose, dying without water/under a curse - big no. I don't want him near her anyway. Also she killed a camp of his followers with Emerald and Mercury. Not the best first impression a bride could make. Also he's dead.
Sun - no
He's solar and a bit fiery, but has a watery best friend.
Neptune - maybe!!!
Water-themed, but has a tragic past related to water and is afraid of it. Literally the only candidate so far, but has never once interacted with Cinder. Most likely paired with Sun symbolically already, and I don't think these types of pairs double-up. Will consider nevertheless, because we need it. Also named for the Roman god of the sea.
Sage - no
Watery friend, but proxmity isn't enough, as you'll see...
Scarlet - no
... the pirate-theming might bring him near the water, but it's not enough for Cinder.
Team CFVY - no.
None of them are water-themed. Chanel doesn't cut it here.
Well, so far I think I can say that's pretty exhausting, but I am being very thorough. At certain points I included ridiculous options, however ones like Lionheart have been excluded just because. She needs a more dedicated partner anyway. I'm not ruling out characters being introduced, and I obviously can't account for them (and I apologise if I missed anyone), but it doesn't seem likely. There's no romantic motivation to her villainy (and none needed), and someone involved in her redemption should be someone major.
As you can see, there's only one viable option so far - and that's Neptune. I'm feeling pretty bad for Cinder now. I have to be honest with you, I don't think they would get along very well.
Let's get the main teams out of the way:
Ruby - no
Ruby has silver eyes, but there's nothing here that's water, despite - again - the lunar association.
Weiss - no
Weiss is ice-themed, but employs fire in her arsenal. Could represent melted ice i.e. water, but that's a stretch. Character whom Cinder targets because she represents her suffering.
Blake - no
A white shadow, lunar-themed but no water to see here. Kind of the same person, would be awkward.
Yang - no
Already has a girlfriend.
Pyrrha - no
Cinder killed her. Name means flame-coloured. These two clashed for a reason, but don't seem set up romantically in any way.
Nora - no
Lightning is more her speed, and as seen with Winter, definitely not Cinder's thing.
Ren - no
The lotus flower thrives in mud, but that's not watery enough for us.
Ok, I think we might just be out of luck.
Neptune's probably already symbolically paired with Sun, and is inappropriate in other ways. If they met in the next couple of volumes, maybe it might work? He's probably going to be involved with Sun when the Vacuo arc begins, though, and he doesn't really have any stakes involved with Cinder. Also, given the future character arc for him, I don't see Cinder being involved, but at least Sun. The sun and the sea might be their thing, or at least a folk hero/god pairing (like Ren/Nora and Emerald/Mercury).
Perhaps Cinder isn't going to get a romantic interest at all, since she's just an antagonist. Or would it not matter? Given that it's R/WBY, no, it almost definitely matters. Maybe it could be ice instead? Winter seeks Cinder for revenge, but they develop respect or care for each other instead. I'm not sure how to get Cinder there, since she never lets anyone in, least of all an Atlesian Special Operative (or at least ex) and someone with the Maiden power she so desperately wants and would have to kill for. I still don't think this is the case, though, but let's revisit the question of romance at all.
Let's say if her redemption is a thing, and you know, since she's part of the main cast, she should get a romance, right? Everybody else is already paired up - and these aren't my opinions, this is what I think is being set up, rather - Blake/Yang, Ren/Nora, Ruby/Oscar, Emerald/Mercury... I don't think Weiss is getting a romance, since her arc is mostly related to the familial, and her Summon is already her knight-in-shining armour...
But who's missing?????? I must be forgetting SOMEONE.
Oh, I didn't list Oscar, that's who it is. I highly doubt Cinder would be interested in Oscar, especially since they're sort of, respectively, Salem and Ozma's children. That would also be weird. There are so many options here that are weird.
Is it appropriate that she gets a romance? Not every character necessarily needs it. Weiss is a great example, and someone like Qrow - who is Weiss' STRQ analogue - definitely isn't getting one, since both of their arcs are related to family. Character need isn't just about our own tastes though, it's about what's thematically and narratively appropriate.
Cinder has never been loved, unconditionally and fully, without compromise and without reservation, against duty, and maybe even for changing duty to stop injustice happening. If there's one character whom I think a romance would be appropriate for, with one character in the story intimately intertwined with her character - especially if she has a redemption arc - it's her.
The power of friendship doesn't 'save' her in V8. That's not enough. But she's not too far gone. Compared to the other redemption arcs already involving friendship and family, we can liddle a romance, as a treat.
Is there a main character I'm forgetting who hasn't had their endgame romance yet?? Maybe it's time to end the post. Maybe I should admit defeat.
Lol.
Tumblr media
Jaune's Semblance is related to Aura. Apparently it's not Aura-amping, but might be something else, but for the sake of this post, Aura, Aura-amping, Aura-bridging, Aura-touching is his super special Semblance. It's in his soul. That's his thing. Like Cinder's fire is like her own Semblance and she expresses it through the Maiden power.
The visual effect over Aura is like the reflection of light from water.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Using alchemy as a reference - since that's the whole elements thing and everything it's grounded in - we can derive a few more things about Aura. I'm not explaining alchemy, there are other people who know it better, but for the purposes of this post, let me just say that red, white, black and yellow comes from the stages of alcemical transformation, that's what the show is grounded in.
Aura itself is like the mercurial waters of life,
Uh oh.
Cinder killed Pyrrha, so again: not the best impression a bride could make, but it did attract his attention, since they did have that whole confrontation in Haven over it. (Very strange and illegal courting rituals).
Pyrrha symbolically representing her misdeeds probably would do a lot for forgiveness in her redemption arc... nevermind, here's the Knightfall masterpost, I'm not going to waste your time with any more expansion on the ship. I admit my bias here, but I'm going to tell you the truth, this is one of the first things I noticed about the ship. This is just my formal analysis.
Neptune may have interested Weiss and been a source of competitive romantic angst in Beacon for Jaune, but he's not it here, not at all. Nope. In fact, I might go so far as to suggest this is the organic, ironic consequence of that arc in V2.
This is what Jaune's cut out for. He's water-themed and his Semblance emerged because Cinder put a spear through Weiss.
If that's not true love I don't know what it is. (Probably need to hop on that redemption arc and make do, especially for said spear, but let's not get ahead of ourselves).
Anyway, the water-theming is down. I've talked about the other ship patterns and themes, but this is one of Cinder's special things, so it's important. The reverse of this post is equally true: there's no one else who is fire to Jaune's water. His Semblance (and subsequent water theming) doesn't present itself until after Pyrrha (fire-haired) passes in the story, and like Neptune, I would dismiss. But there's no one else. I'm not making another post that's the inverse of this.
She's fire, he's water. Found her suitor.

Jaune - yes.

Nitpick November: Day 1 & 2
Let’s get this show on the road! I’m gonna be making these posts in pairs.
Nitpick 1: Let’s start with a more meta one. Who’s idea was it to name the characters Ruby Rose, Sun Wukong and Ozma? The names themselves aren’t bad per se. The issue comes with the fact that those names already exist in some form. Ruby Rose has the same name as the actress, Ruby Rose. Sun Wukong shares the name with a character from Journey to the West. While Ozma takes his name from Princess Ozma from The Marvelous Land of Oz. And while it’s not uncommon for the same names to be used across media, especially with mythological characters like Sun Wukong. Generally speaking, the media that they’re from uses well-known names across the board, not just one or two while everyone else gets original names. This is the same series where characters named Crow have their names spelled with a Q. Was it really too hard to name Ruby Rose, Rubi Rose or something? Or change Sun’s surname so it isn’t a direct copy of the mythological figure. Even giving Ozma a surname would do wonders for its recognisability. Nitpick 2: Let’s talk allusions. Allusions are honestly something I absolutely love, conceptually. Every character having an allusion to a story character. Each team having an allusion theme that ties them together nicely. It’s a really neat concept. You have characters based off of fairy tales, mythological figures, fables, folklore, poems, sweets, birds, memes...now hold a minute, what’s with those last three? CFVY’s theme is sweets, not even sweet-themed fairy tales or anything. Just sweets. How exactly are chocolate, fox hunter pie, red velvet cake and yatsuhashi story ‘characters’? Remember, this team was built by Monty himself. The one who established the allusion concept in the first place. If the creator himself can’t be consistent with his own rules. Is there any wonder how we got to RWBY’s disastrous state in the first place? That isn’t even getting into the fact that CFVY do have actual allusions, but none that tie the team together. Coco alluding to fashion designer and nazi collaborator/spy Coco Chanel (mostly in design, to Chanel herself), Fox alluding to The Fox and the Hound (in name and through his connection to a character named Copper only), Velvet alluding to The Velveteen Rabbit (in name and the fact that she’s a rabbit Faunus only) and Yatsuhashi, who doesn’t even get a proper allusion. The wiki claims he may allude to Quasimodo from The Hunchback and the Notre Dame but gives very vague evidence and does not cite any sources. Still, no central theme for the team unlike Teams RWBY and JNPR. They could’ve easily made Team CFVY’s theme sweet-based stories such as Charlie and the Chocolate Factory or The Gingerbread Man. There’s plenty to choose from. CRDL allude to birds. Just birds, not even birds from fairy tales or anything. Literal birds. Cardinals, thrushes, doves and larks to be exact. I understand that they’re not exactly the most important or well-liked characters but you couldn’t of at least put more effort into who they’re based on? Birds aren’t story characters, at least not in the same vein as Little Red Riding Hood or Goldilocks.
Keeping with the idea that they’re birds. Why not make their allusions based on famous winged or bird-like characters? Or if you want to keep with the theming that Cardin has by being based on Henry Beaufort, base them off the antagonists of JNPR’s respective stories (like Cardin is to Jaune). One member could be a soldier of the opposing army Achilles/Mulan fought against, while another could be based off a Frost Giant from Norse Mythology to go with Nora. FNKI’s team theme is memes...which aren’t exactly characters either, except for Neon maybe, if you stretch the definition of character in this context. Flynt is based off ‘Flint Coal’, a running joke from Rooster Teeth’s Minecraft Let’s Plays. Which for starters, isn’t even a story character and wouldn’t be understandable to a viewer who doesn’t experience Rooster Teeth content beyond RWBY. Neon is a reference to nyan cat, a dead meme that’s just as annoying as she is. But again, not a story character. Finally, Kobalt and Ivori share an allusion in the dress meme, in which a dress was seen as black and blue or white and gold, depending on who you asked. Given Flynt and Neon’s music-like aesthetics, why not make the team theme characters from musicals or about stories where music/instruments play a large role in it, like the Pied Piper as an example. Another team that I didn’t previously mention is SSSN, and that’s because the team itself has no theming whatsoever. While CFVY, CRDL and FNKI all had pretty weak themes, that at least had them. SSSN has none of that. Sun is based off Sun Wukong from the Journey to the West, Scarlet is based off Peter Pan from the official sequel Peter Pan in Scarlet, Sage has no exact allusion beyond vague Aesop Fable or Aesop himself and Neptune is Neptune, from Roman Mythology. There’s no theme that ties these four characters or stories together. Why not make them all JTTW characters? Or base each member of SSSN off a different classic novel from the Four Great Classic Novels of Chinese literature, which would work well given they’re a team at Haven Academy which is in Remnant’s loosely Asian-based kingdom? It takes very little effort to keep to a consistent theme, yet time and time again I’m left disappointed by Rooster Teeth’s laziness. You are the ones who constructed these rules, I expect you to follow them.
