✰ Character Info Sheet
name: Richard "Rick" D. (Daniel?) Grimes
name meaning: "Fierce brave ruler" Richard: Means "brave ruler", derived from the Old German elements rih "ruler, king" and hart "hard, firm, brave, hardy". Grimes: Originates from the Norse-Viking pre 7th Century personal name of “Grimr” which is both an Old Danish and Old Swedish name as well, appearing in both of these ancient languages as “Grim.” In England, this surname of Grimes was popular due to the influence of Scandinavian settlements. Grimes is a surname that is believed to be of a Scandinavian, English, or Irish descent, that means Masked Person, Fierce.
alias/es: Sheriff, Officer Friendly, Helicopter Boy, Ringleader, Fearless Leader, Consignee Grimes, Mother Goose
ethnicity: North America, United States (British, Irish or Scandinavian descent probably).
one picture you like best of your character: (I'm a rebel, I will put 2).
Tumblr media Tumblr media
three h/cs you've never told anyone:
He's actually quite clumsy, specially if he's not paying attention or overload with worry or emotion.
He likes and writes poetry, loves to draw, loves reading novels, but he seems to only do those things in private when he's alone, he's very reserved. He also can play the guitar but that's a secret to most people.
Still has schizophrenia symptoms once in a while (when he's not okay), but doesn't tell anyone.
three things your character likes doing in their free time:
Building or repairing things or organizing things, he will do out of pleasure when he has energy.
Reading
Playing with his kids
eight people your character likes / loves: In canon, everyone he considered his family. (Lori, Shane, Judith, Glenn, Maggie, Beth, Daryl, Carol, Hershel, Jessie, Michonne...) Verse dependent: my Rp partners muses / OCs for sure.
two things your character regrets:
Not listening to his son Carl back at the gas station about recruiting Siddiq and being less moved by hatred and more by compassion (which lead to Carl going back to recruit Siddiq, where Carl got bitten, resulting in his death).
Not solving the emotional conflict with Lori before she died. Rick thought he would have more time to make amends and approach his wife Lori again (she was sleeping with his best friend and got pregnant). He never stopped loving her, despite their arguments, despite being so emotionally distant for a while.
two phobias your character has:
1- Potentially developed a fear of confined spaces (claustrophobia) with large crowds (enochlophobia), due to the tight and dangerous situations he often encountered (Prison reckon, being kidnapped by Jadis, being stuck in a tank). Rick doesn't panic- he can stay calm if he's exposed to the phobia, but he would rather not- at the prison, he would rather sleep outside or in more open indoor areas with windows etc. Isolated crowds in the open or isolated confined spaces are less stressful, I think that what gets Rick is when both are combined.
2- He seems to have a fear of heights (needs to be very high height) specially if it's a place he can potentially fall from. When Michonne climbs a very high tree, he keeps asking her so many times if she's okay, and keeps pacing under the tree as if she were doing something very dangerous- to someone who kills zombies every day, Rick seemed to be overreacting a bit. Rick doesn't seem to have any problem climbing things that aren't too high, like fences, or things he can feel safe while climbing (the top of a building, or something he has firm structures to grab). If he had to face high heights, he would though. Rick normally won't let his phobias stop him from acting.

I’m currently deep in LB4, and I’m so affected by Lakshmi Bai’s performance in story (seriously her plan to deflect Tell’s arrows by her own luck gives me feels) that I decide to throw 30 SQs to the part 1 banner against my better judgement hoping to get her.
I got Gramps Hunter + A Giant Elephant instead.

Thanks to everyone who tuned in last night for our event to benefit independent bookstores. I thought it was a pretty magical conversation. And it was certainly a nice boost for the participating stores. But I know the stream got overloaded and many people were unable to get in at 8 pm. (Or the stream was almost unwatchable.) Everyone should have immediately received the full video upon completion. But I know many of you were kicked back with a glass of wine, and were in full watch party mode. So if the frustration killed your buzz, and you no longer want your book for any reason, you can get a full refund by reaching out to [email protected].  Speaking of frustration, I know that many of you who preordered were feeling left out. You ordered a book early to support me. At a time when money is tight for a lot of people. And you paid the same price or more as people attending the event. So I’ve gotten permission from the event company to offer the video to anyone who has paid for a book. All you have to do is forward your receipt to [email protected]. If you bought in a store— a picture of your book will work just fine. (Please remember to check your Spam folder if a response isn’t received shortly.) This is perhaps an imperfect solution, but I’m hopeful that this is the choice that will leave the most people feeling happy. That was certainly the intention of the event. A lot of you have been supporting HONY for years. (It will be a decade next month!) And last thing I would ever want to to do is step on the toes of my biggest supporters.

sorry to bother again but i am a freshman in college and i am v stressed
how did you get through it and how do I make myself not want to drop every single class i’m in every semester
how does one take more than 5 classes at a time
i am in midterm hell and i am Scared™️
oh you mean, ‘Matt, please do your actual literal job on main?’ Because this is sort of my actual literal job, friend. So don’t worry. I’ve got you.
So first thing’s first, when planning future semesters:
I would recommend against taking more than 5 classes at a time. Mathematically, it is not great for you. If you have to take more than 5, plan on doing 1-2 to during summer school. You won’t be behind. You’re fine. I swear.
Example for future class planning: For every class, look at the number of units/credits it is. That is around the number of hours that you’re gonna spend in that class a week. Now multiply that by 2. That’s about the number of hours total you’re gonna spend on that class in a week (both in class and doing homework).
That means that a 3 unit/credit class = 6 hours of work per week.
You have five of those classes. That means that you’re doing around 30hrs of school work a week. If you have six of those classes, you’re practically working a fulltime job with little to no pay and benefits.
End story: Do not take more than 5 classes a semester if you can help it.
If you can, don’t take more than 4 classes in your major per semester, either. You will die. Use electives and general education classes as your fourth or fifth class to lighten your load and give yourself something that you enjoy and know you can pass for sure. That will give you some breathing room and will help you maintain your GPA.
Coping with Overload now:
At this point in the semester, it’s a little late to be dropping classes, so what you’re going to do instead is to schedule the fuck out of your time.
You need to pick and stick to set dates/times for completing coursework and midterm projects for the next week or two. People do this in different ways, but generally speaking, people will assign projects/homework to certain days.
Example: Monday is Chemistry homework night because assignments are due on Wednesday. You only work on Chemistry on Monday. You finish the assignment and turn it in.
Tuesday is English homework day because assignments are papers and take 3 days to complete due to requiring 3 different steps: research, outlining, and writing. You do the whole researching process on Tuesday and do a basic outline. You will fill out the outline a little more on Wednesday and will then write the whole paper on Thursday so that you can turn it in then, before the Friday deadline.
On Wednesday, after you’re satisfied with your English outline, you will set that aside because Wednesdays are Math days. You will do the Math homework and/or study for 2-3 hours until your brain feels like soup. Then you will stop, do something relaxing for 30min, and then decide if you need to do more studying. If you do, repeat the study + self-care process. Go to sleep at a reasonable hour (before 2am if possible)
Do the same thing for your other 2 classes, assigning each a day and a specific task or set of tasks to complete on each day. Don’t give yourself more than 3 tasks per class/study session, because that’s how you get overwhelmed and into an anxiety spiral.
Apply self-care (breaks, snacks, drinks, music) liberally while doing assignments.
Other tips: figure out how you study.
If you study best in a group, grab some folks from your class and form a study group. If you are in STEM especially, it is expected that you will form study groups. This is how studying happens in STEM, medical, and law fields. It is nigh impossible to do all that labor on your own. Yes, I am serious. Make a study group, even if that’s you and 1 other person.
If you can find a study guide, take it to study group or block out an hour or two and do the whole thing. If you don’t have a study guide, make one yourself out of your homework/assignments and test yourself with flashcards or writing out definitions and forcing yourself to explain the different parts of cycles you learned in class.
If you are in a humanities/liberal arts major, you need to figure out if you study best by reviewing your notes, by re-listening to the lectures, by explaining concepts to others, or by writing it all out as if it was an essay.
If you need to write an essay and are stuck with where to start, reach out for help from a tutor if your school has one, or just start by doing 15 minutes of brainstorming to figure out what you feel about the topic and what evidence/ideas would work to answer it. Pick apart the prompt to see what it is truly asking you to do, write out the components of the prompt separately on a separate page and start answering those question as if they were short answers.
Then when you’ve got that, you can start noting bits of evidence to add to support your points and BAM, just like that, you’ve got an outline. Write a thesis statement at the top that addresses the Who, What, Why and How You’re Going to Prove it of your essay and you’re ready to go.
Example thesis statement: “The world represented in Oh God, How do I Study by Matt Deniigiq includes references to time management, course planning, and big-picture thinking to emphasize the broader theme that this one shit semester is not going to destroy student’s lives. This is evident in the droll humor used throughout the piece and the fact that the author keeps halting in paragraphs to answer emails from frazzled students.”
**yes, your thesis can be 2 sentences long. It’s allowed, I promise.
Know that these 5 classes will not end your life.
Honestly, like, speaking as someone who does this for a living, at public schools anything higher than a C is grand. It’s not usually required for you to list your GPA on job apps later on (I’ve never been asked). No one actually cares about your GPA in social situations.
As long as my students have higher than Cs in their classes and they aren’t like, nursing students, I’m cool with their progress, so give yourself a break if you can.
Also know that getting a low grade in 1 class as a freshmen doesn’t actually fuck up your GPA as bad as you think it will. Like, there’s a lot of complicated shit around this that I could go into, but generally speaking, if you fail one class (and I mean FAIL-fail it. Fs and D-s. None of this ‘UwU I got a C so I failed’), then by the time you’re a junior or a senior, if you haven’t failed additional shit, that F/D- is barely going to shift your GPA.
Like, we’re talking .1 shifts around then. Maybe a .3 shift if you’re at the end of your sophomore year. That’s the diff between a 2.5 and a 2.4. Or a 3.3 and a 3.0. You can make that up almost entirely by taking another round of classes and getting As and Bs (again, the mechanics are complicated, so you’re just gonna have to take my word here).
So yeah, shoot for Cs or higher and know that these classes aren’t the end-all be-alls of your lives.
(For context, if I get a student with a 3.0 or higher, I’m fucking ELATED. I’m not even joking. Y’all will be fine.)
--
Start with these tips and get back to me if you want something more specific. I do this all day, every day.

The Things We Don’t Say (modern AU - Actors)
Tumblr media
Summary:  No one is perfect, and sometimes, two people are just so perfectly flawed that those pieces fit together and make something beautiful. When sparks fly between two leads of a new hit show, is there a happy ending in sight, or will their own mistakes overshadow any chance they had at something worth fighting for.
Rated: Explicit
Warnings:   This is a joyfully Captain Swan story, but there are a few warnings. It does start with Emma/Neal and Killian/Milah. I don't write non-CS, so there won't be any sexual anything happening 'on screen', so to speak, between those couples, but I won't guarantee there may not be a mention. This story contains numerous episodes of cheating. If any of these things make you squick or are not your bag, carry on.

Chapter One
Emma scrolled through the email her manager had sent detailing the new role she was being offered. It was something fresh, something different from what she normally focused on—no hint of a police procedural in sight—and based on the tone, it sounded like they were very interested in getting her signed for one of the leads. She stretched her legs out along the couch, digging her cold toes underneath the pillows in search of some warmth, only to yank them back when she encountered something both crinkly and wet.
“Dammit, Neal! What the hell is this?” she growled, glaring at the brown sludge coating her foot.
She leaned forward, careful to angle her toes away from any other surface, and peeled the throw pillow from the couch. Smeared across the white fabric and the expensive leather was what looked like the remainder of a milky way bar, the wrapper still clinging to the puddle of caramel and chocolate.
“You have got to be kidding me. Neal!”
The only response she got was the sound of something hitting a pan full of oil in the kitchen, the apartment filled with the sizzling hiss of something frying. Dropping her phone and forgetting all about the email she’d just been reading, she hobbled down the hall into the bathroom to clean up, wondering how in the hell to get out a chocolate and caramel stain. Why he couldn’t just learn to clean up after himself was beyond understanding. Sometimes it felt like she was living with a teenager who never wanted to grow up, and she couldn’t help but long for the days when her apartment was clean and didn’t smell like whatever weird odor it was that Neal always brought home—grease and cigarette smoke, maybe.
Her foot finally clean enough to be walked on, she headed into the kitchen to get some paper towels only to be greeted by what looked like every dish she owned spread out on the counters and island. Every surface was dusted in flour and drips of batter, measuring spoons leaving trails of oil and sugar across the floor and counters alike.
“Oh my god,” she cringed, knowing the mess would be left for her. “What are you doing?”
“I was wondering when you’d get off the phone,” Neal poked, giving her a quick glance over his shoulder before motioning proudly over the mess that just seemed to get worse each time she looked at it. “I’m cooking.”
The casual way he always stabbed at her phone use was exactly what she didn’t want to hear right now. Maybe she wouldn’t have to spend so much time working if he bothered looking for something himself. He’d had a recurring role on a family comedy when they met, but he’d been fired not long after, and for the last six months, Emma was pretty sure he hadn’t even gone to any of the auditions she’d mentioned. In fact, she wasn’t even sure if he had an agent anymore.
“When was the last time you had a Milky Way?” she asked, choosing to ignore his snide comment. She just wasn’t in the mood.
“That’s a weird question. I don’t know, maybe last week? You didn’t pick any up the last time you ran to the store.”
Emma nodded, her lips drawn tight as she tore paper towels from the rack and returned to the living room, pulling what she could of the melted mass from the couch and thinking she’d need to resort to Google to get the rest out. Her anger bubbled with every sticky string of caramel that wrapped around her fingers. Why couldn’t he go to the store on his day off? He only had seven of them. She stomped back into the kitchen, hitting the garbage can a little harder than necessary and tossing the mess of chocolate and paper inside.
There was just enough room in the overload sink—what had he used the colander for—that she could wash her hands.
“There’s leftovers in the fridge. What was so important that you had to turn the entire kitchen into a complete disaster?” she questioned, already adding up how much time it would take her to wash and wipe everything down.
She’d be lucky if she was able to get back to her manager before tomorrow as requested.
“You remember that travel show we watched the other night?” he prodded, his eyes glued to the pan as it hissed on the stovetop, a spatula held ready in his hand. “You mentioned you hadn’t had good churros since that trip to Mexico, so I thought maybe I’d make you some.”
The anger that had been just about to boil over slipped away to that place far enough below everything else that she could just go back to ignoring it.
“Neal,” she sighed, suddenly more exhausted than anything else. “Thanks.”
“Of course, Ems—anything for you.”
In the living room her phone blared to life, the dark tones of The Imperial March echoing as it vibrated across the coffee table.
“Work calls,” Neal sniped, a trace of resentment running beneath the pleasant smile he fixed in her direction. “Wouldn’t want to keep Regina waiting.”
It was amazing how quickly that anger came right back to the top of everything, and she found her feet pushing her as far away from Neal as possible, snatching her phone from the table and forgetting entirely about the couch as she stormed into the bedroom.
“What?” she hissed, slamming the door behind her and clenching the cell like it was something she wanted to crush. “What is so important that you couldn’t give me a few more hours, Regina?”
The other end of the line was silent, as if Regina had either hung up, or was waiting for an apology. Well, she wasn’t getting one—not today.
“Is there something you needed, Regina?”
“Are you okay?” Regina asked, not as a friend, but as an employee that was curious to know how soon she would have to contact Emma’s PR team and inform them a mental breakdown was imminent.
“I’m fine. It’s just a bad time. I got the details you sent. I just haven’t read through everything yet.”
“Well, that explains why I haven’t heard from you. Honestly, I thought you cared more about your career than that. I was quite clear this was urgent. Don’t take your time with this one, Miss Swan—they want you, but they can’t wait much longer.”
The line went dead after Regina had delivered her scolding and Emma sighed, dropping to the bed and rolling onto her back as she flicked back into her email and started again from the top. It was an interesting premise with even more depth than she’d originally thought—a new series that centered on the mental health of a man who had developed delusions after a car accident that took his brother, leading him to believe everyone in the hospital was a character from a fairy tale world—but then she got the part that Regina really focused on, the money.
“Holy shit!” Emma gasped, double checking the figures and thinking how she’d never seen such a good offer—not for someone in her bracket. It was unheard of. “I guess they really do want me.”
It wasn’t until she read through the rest of the itinerary and details that she wondered if the big paycheck wasn’t recompense for the filming location and duration—the middle of Nowhere, Maine, as if Maine wasn’t already considered the middle of nowhere.
She read everything twice before she shot Regina a quick text.
E: I’ll take it
The message had only just sent and there were already three ellipses following. Emma could practically hear her manager’s smug response.
R: I knew you would. I’ll be in touch.
There should have been nerves fluttering in her stomach, or at least a solid pit of dread at the prospect of having to walk into the kitchen and tell Neal, but there was nothing. It was a big decision to move across the country for what could be a long-term role, but it was still her decision to make.
Hopefully, he would be happy for her, he would understand that this had the potential of lifting her out of her rut and providing great income for the foreseeable future. There were some great names attached, veterans of the industry that were looking to branch out into a new genre.
She was excited for the first time in a long time.
She didn’t need to feel guilty, at least that was what she told herself as a niggling pang of guilt worked its way into her chest.
It would be good to break it to him gently though, to put a good spin on it.
The minutes ticked by and she finally realizing she couldn’t put it off any longer, she wandered into the kitchen, her arms crossed in front of her as she looked for him, but the apartment was empty. The stove was turned off and a plate, probably the last clean one, was waiting on the counter with a pile of golden churros perched on top of a greasy paper towel.
Next to it was another torn paper towel with a note scratched onto it in sharpie.
The boys called and I’m heading out for a few beers. Don’t wait up. Enjoy the churros.
She waited for the anger to bubble back to the top, but there was nothing—no anger, no guilt, just a deep, hollow nothingness that grew and yawned as she fingered the scrap of a note transparent with oily fingerprints. Feeling like maybe this job had come at the best possible time, she picked up the plate of churros and walked over to the trash, watching them slide in with the rest of the garbage.

Can you do headcanons for Kinana and Eric (Ship or Platonic)?
I can uwu
-they gossip together, a lot. Erik can hear people’s thoughts, and Kinana works at the bar, so they know pretty much anything you’d want to know about anyone.
-Kinana gets crushes easy and has liked every girl in Fairy Tail her age for at least a short period of time. Erik hears all of these thoughts and teases her about it.
-Yes, she has punched him for this.
-Yes, he has found out things he does not want to know because of this.
-Kinana keeps a record of how many times Erik has walked into something because he’s been distracted by someone else’s thoughts, and who caused the thoughts. Currently, the leaderboard consists of children, the exceeds, and teh dragons slayers. They apparantly have some of the strangest thoughts.
-Erik can only spend so long in a room with Natsu for this reason. Natsu’s thoughts are all over the place and can be headache inducing.
-Erik gets overwhelmed easily (extreme senses = sensory overload) in crowded places and tries to hide it. Kinana has known him long enough to spot when he needs to leave.
-Kinana has more sway over him than all of CS. they have to call her to get him to do things when he’s being too stubborn.
-If Kinana doesn’t feel like talking verbally, Erik will read her thoughts and they have conversations with only him talking. Sometimes they do this to confuse strangers, because it’s funny.
-They’re a very chaotic duo, not that anyone could pin them down for anything they’ve done.

How much would the story line change if Lily was the one who died and James survived in CS? Sorry if this was something that you've been asked before, I'm new here.
Hey there, darling! Welcome! I have answered similar asks in the past, but I’m always happy to waffle on!
If Lily had died, rather than James, a significant portion of the plot of CS would have changed.
James wouldn’t have been unaffected by Lily’s death, but he would have cracked in a different way under his guilt and heartbreak. Where Lily turned Hadrian into a soldier, I think James would have gone the opposite route and been unbelievably overprotective and almost smothering. His son’s safety and happiness would have been his driving focus, and anything that he even perceived as a threat to his boy would have been fucked.
I would hesitate to say that James would flee Britain, but at the same time, I feel like Peter’s betrayal would have been absolutely shattering for him, so I can see him running, unable to trust anyone. But unlike Lily, James has more connection in the magical world, has more branches of distant relatives that would happily shelter him and his heir.
So while James might not go to France, I could see him running to India (which a lot of people headcanon is where the Potter family line originates) or even to America. There, Harry would grow up under a different name of whichever branch family / cousins they were living with.
He would be...not coddled and not exactly sheltered, but he would be softer. Not as harsh and battle-worn before he had even entered school. He would have been loved in a way Lily just never quite managed in CS. James would have been the type of parent to try and compensate for the lack of mother-figure by overloading his child with praise and affection.
That’s all I can really map out right now, hope that’s okay, darling.
And again, welcome! <3 <3

hello, hello! cs secret santa time! I'm so excited to be your gift-giver this year (with plans to gift ye fic) and hope this can be a bright spot for you in Dec. I've poked around your tumblr a bit (maybe I follow you, maybe I don't...I am NAILING THIS BEING MYSTERIOUS THING) and would like to know 1) your gotta have its (what are the elements of a fic you can't get enough of?) 2) your no thank yous, and 3) on a scale from 1 to 10 reindeer, how Christmasy would your perfect fic be? xx, santa
Helloooooooooooooooooooooo my lovely Secret Santa!
YOU ARE TOTALLY NAILING THE MYSTERY.  OMG.  SO MYSTERIOUS.  i love it already.  💖💖💖
It is LOVELY to almost meet you (you know, even though you are mysteriously mysterious!) - and the prospect of fic is MAKING MY DAY.
Week.
MONTH.
You feel me.
Now, for your questions.
1.) i looooooooooooooooooooooooove bedsharing, OK?  LOVE IT.  IT’S MY FAVORITE THING IN THE WORLD.  (Also, uh, Christmas, snow, i’m not saying they have to be snowed in, just saying, uh, they COULD be.)  i also love me some coffee shops, as you must know, having “poked around my tumblr”, libraries, friends /enemies to lovers, and just, you know, connection.
2.) Huh.  i kind of don’t want to answer this, because i don’t want to limit you in your creativity?  i guess i’m not a great fan of whump, high school, college, second chance, or rockstar tropes, BUT.  My darling.  If that is where your muse is headed, DO NOT STOP HER.  Your giving ME a gift, and that is the greatest thing already.  (And i also have exception fics for almost all of the above, exception fics i absolutely LOVE, so i mean, it’s really all about the fic.)
Now, i’ve checked and i clock in at about 4-5 on the reindeer scale.  😂  Christmas as a framework is lovely, but it needn’t be The Overload.  However, again, if your muse needs all the blinking colored lights and coookies and sprinkles and lametta, well--- i will not stand in her way.  Or yours.  😘
To give you some perspective, i have a list of 12 Christmas Movies, which i watch every year.  They change around a lot, but there are movies which are ALWAYS on it:  Die Hard (1&2), Lethal Weapon (the first one), Home for the Holidays (not to be confused with The Holiday, which i LOATHE) and the LOTR trilogy.  That is how i roll.  😂
i am so looking forward to us chatting along this December!  💖💖💖💖💖

Hello again, everyone! Please help me welcome @spartanguard back to the CSSNS!!!
Tumblr media
Tumblr Name
@spartanguard
How long have you been in the CS/OUAT fandom?
I watched the show from the first day it aired until the last, but I didn't really get active in the fandom until sometime during 4A (so, ~Nov. 2014)
When did you start shipping Captain Swan?
I started low-key shipping them at "If your heart can be broken, that means it still works"; actively shipping them after "I can't lose you, too."
What drew you to this event?
This is my third year participating! I love supernatural/fantasy stories and getting to combine that with Captain Swan is always so much fun!
What inspired your topic?
I'm giving my original idea from last year another go: vampires meets West Side Story. Although I can't remember where the original idea came from, haha. (If it escapes me again...there's something with shapeshifting hanging in the wings.)
If you would like to share a snippet/sneak peek/summary of your fic or artwork, please use the space below.
There's a lot of romanticizing when it comes to vampires. The eternal youth, the perfect looks and body, the heightened senses—all are excellent perks.
But no one mentions the absolute mania when a vampire is new. Suddenly, everything is brighter, sharper, clearer, louder, smellier, more detailed than before, and it's a sensory overload—it's impossible to hear your own racing thoughts over the cacophony of everything else.
So you run, but that's a whole other revelation—where to run when you never tire? When adrenaline is pumping so hard that it would probably be easy to scale a skyscraper? (At least it would be quiet up there, right?) And when your new instincts are telling you to find people—to find food—but the thought of being near all those scents and sounds is enough to turn your stomach and make you lose your last meal as a human.
What kind of art do you like to do? Picsets, painting, digital, etc? Feel free to give as much info as you like.
My photoshop skills aren't what I'd call amazing, but I do love to create manips.
Who/what have you beta'd before, or is this your first time? Feel free to give as much info as you like.
I've beta'd for a handful of events over the past several years, and I love it! My day job is an editor but fanfic is much more exciting than the materials I proof at work.
What are you looking forward to most about participating in this event?
Seeing everyone's awesome art and stories!
Words CANNOT express how excited I am for Kaitlyn’s vampire West Side Story! When she agreed to come back and do it this year, I did my own little happy dance! She is also doing art for my vampire fic in the first wave and @thejollyroger-writer in the third wave. And last, but certainly not least, she will be betaing for @lassluna in the first wave! So everyone go welcome her back to the event and give her lots of love!!!

It really frustrates me how ADHD is just put down as Kinda Hyper And Maybe Can’t Sit Still Disorder, while autism is claimed to be Super Different Weirdo that Is Either A Genius Or Idiot Disorder. Scratch that. Not frustrates. Angers. A lot. Neither of those claims are remotely close to what those disorders actually are, and it makes me want to scream.
ADHD can be extremely debilitating. Autism can be mild and unnoticed for a long time. Both of them are wide spectrums, and can present extremely differently in symptoms and severity between individuals. Furthermore, the two are comorbid! Sibling diagnoses! To the point where people with Autism can make a post about their experiences and I'll be like "that is literally me" because there's so much gosh dang crossover. But when it comes to media representation and perception, the two are made out to be completely different, and it drives me up a wall!!
Autism isn't inherently scary! People with autism are amazing and wonderful and have lots of variety! Not everyone with autism is a super secret genius savant who can only do one thing ever! ADHD isn't inherently mild! People with ADHD aren't all super happy hyper extroverts who get Cs but have great times at parties! There is so much symptom crossover between the two that it's insane! Sometimes the diagnosis depends on who your psychologist is more than anything!
And for the love of Pete, neither disorder is a death sentence! And both disorders should be taken seriously! If someone tells you that they need headphones bc of their autism or ADHD to prevent sensory overload, LET THEM WEAR THE GOSH DANG HEADPHONES. If someone tells you that (heaven forbid) using a fidget toy helps them focus better, LET THEM USE THE GOSH DANG FIDGET TOY. If someone is rocking a lot or flapping their hands or rambling on about their interest and it isn't causing major problems for anyone, LET THEM STIM AND RAMBLE GOSH DANG IT. So much of our behavior is stigmatized and it drives me up a wall. Yes those subtitles help even if we can hear just fine. Yes that chew toy helps us calm down. Yes that food's texture is why we can't eat it even if it tastes awesome.
And stop. trying. to. tell. us. we. cant. get. along.
Idk I don't know everything and I'm sure I got smth wrong, but I'm sick of it at this point. Feel free to add on if you have adhd or autism. :)

there i was scrolling my dashboard when i saw the prompt list you put up and "11. “I almost lost you” kiss" pops out at me and says "ask her for this one. you know you want to." so, here i am. asking. for gremma+11. please? (and if i sound hesitant about my asking, please realize that it's because half of my brain is screaming at me that i'm enabling your angst-love and to not to.)
How old is this prompt? I don’t even want to guess.
My muse finally said “okay.”
Sooo not what I intended to write today, but the first thing to come out. Very short little thing.
Title: that which is irreplaceable Note: 2011 would have been the “old” version of CPR, but note that nowadays we do “Circulation-Airway-Breathing” instead of ABC. More on CPR here if you want it.

               “Thecurse is real.”
Shetilts her head to look at him, still feeling the drowsiness of sleep tingeingaround her senses. She frowns slightly. “What?”
Hesighs, rubbing the small of her back. She feels lazy, that drunk feeling ofcoming down from ecstasy. Her mind isn’t fully functioning, she knows, so hecouldn’t possibly be saying what she thinks he’s saying.
Grahamtilts her chin up with his index finger, pressing delicate kisses to herswollen lips. Finally, he gives a wry smile. “Henry is right.”
Hermind is in overload, trying to process the idea that tempering the sexualtension is doing nothing to stamp the feelings in her belly, but his words areoffering a distraction. “Henry’s an imaginative boy,” she ventures.
He humsan agreement, wrapping her naked body closer to his own. “Yes, that’s true. Butthe book he’s been reading is completely true, if perhaps a littleromanticized.”
“Soyou’re saying you believe in his fantasies,” she asks bluntly. Her body isstill vibrating, more so when he touches her skin oh-so-delicately, butinternally she worries. He went to her boy for help just this afternoon; whywas she encouraging this?
“I’msaying they’re not so fictional,” he says matter-of-factly, then dips his headto press wet, whiskered kisses into her neck. Her eyes nearly roll back as shetries desperately to cling to her sanity.
“Thisis unfair,” she whines, and rolls her thighs so that he can fall nicely betweenthem. Her heart rate is slowly increasing, and her lips curve into a smile ashis hand cups her waist.
He humsan agreement, and then finally returns to her eye level. His gaze is soft, adoring. “You are the Savior. But you’re also another thing to me,” he says.
Sheprickles slightly, that title that Henry wants so much to bestow on her. Italmost yanks her from the haze, but then he’s kissing her again, and herstomach clenches. She is barely able to catch her breath once he releases herlips for her jaw, and her head lolls to the side to follow him, breaths heavy.
“You,”he says thickly, his accent buzzing against her skin. “Well … only one thingsbreaks curses like this, Emma.”
She can’tconcentrate, not when his tongue is laving her pulse point and his fingertipsare tracing her hipbone. Not when she knows how it will feel when she archesher back and takes him in, not when her soul is fluttering with somethingdeeper. “Graham,” she insists, and tugs on the strands of hair in her grip.
Hemakes a gorgeously needy sound, but only continues to nip at her throat. “I can’tbelieve I almost lost this,” he murmurs, and then nuzzles into her.
Fearpits back into her stomach, and she brings his head back up to her face. Shecrashes her lips into his, inhaling through her nose as she drinks him in. Shealmost lost him. She doesn’t want to think of what that fall could have cometo, what might have happened if he hadn’t taken that sharp inhale after herfirst rescue breath. She wants him again, maybe several times after that, justto prove to herself that he is okay.
Hischeeks are stamped pink and his gaze is smoky, breaths hard and sharp againsther lips. “It’s going to be hard,” he mumbles, distracted, and kisses heragain, short, staccato. “You’re going to need help if you’re going to break itfor everyone else.”
“Shutup,” she replies savagely, and lifts her hips to his. “Please.”
Hesmirks cockily, but distances himself a touch. She growls in frustration, andhe pins her hands on either side of her head. “Emma, do you understand what I’msaying?” he asks.
Theheat of his lower body is hovering tantalizingly close and his eyes are dizzying. What did he want her to say again? She bites down on her lip and tries to roll herhips closer to him. “What you’ve been saying since yesterday,” she answersdistractedly, arching her back.
Henudges her nose with his but doesn’t let any other part touch her. “Emma … doyou understand?”
Sheswallows. She can’t really see past the point where she is pumping her hands upand down on his chest, out of order in her freaking A-B-Cs but the CPR class sodistant, tears clouding her vision and losing count quickly. He came back tolife. He had been cold in her arms, but then he opened his eyes on her andmelted her right back into a kiss that had been as desperate as it was terrified.
He isright here, now, lashes thick and close enough to count, faint frecklesscattered across his cheek that she’d never noticed before, lips warm andcurved and quickly memorized through all senses.
So, no,she can’t understand. She can’t when all she can think about is crawling intohis skin to imprint herself there, to meld them into one so she can be sure hecan’t leave her again.
Hetakes pity on her, easing up his grip and dropping his weight on her. He holdsher close before swapping their places, until she is balancing on his lap. Thesprings of the cell bed squeak nosily as she settles. It would be ease to sinkonto him, to take what she has been so desperate for again, but she hesitates. Hisdark blue eyes are urgently serious.
“Thecurse … you think it’s real,” she finally bites out.
“No,Emma,” he says, and reaches up to cup her face. “No, I’m not saying ‘I think.’I’m saying it is.”
Herforehead creases. She doesn’t want to get into this. “Can we—“ her breathhitches, and she hates the part of her that feels like breaking down again. “Just… can we just—“
“Emma,”he says again, and she doesn’t know how he can just say her name and she is atall attention.
Thethought of the curse turns her stomach; she relates it too much to his closedeyes and still body. She presses her hands to steady her weight over his chestnow, right hand moving over his heart. She stares at the center of his chest, where her compressions had shakily begun. Idly, she wonders if she cracked hisribs, and a hysterical laugh escapes her. “You were dead.”
“Iknow,” he says evenly, and moves one of his hands across her jaw and down herarm, settling over the one on his heart. He shows no signs of pain, not a winceor a hesitation. “I’m here.”
Shefeels the build of a sob but doesn’t let it escape. She nods rapidly. “You’rehere,” she echoes.
               “Why?”he implores, dark eyes wide.
Sheswallows again, harder this time. She begins to shake her head, and then ripsher gaze from him. Bits from that damn book, some in Henry’s voice, some inMary Margaret’s, some in her own encroach her mind. She almost sees a clash ofswords before she suppresses it down. “Please,” she whispers, and her visionhazes over. She blinks back the tears before they can fall and shakes her head.“Please, just … show me?”
Heseems to see the way some of her resolve has crumbled, and meets her in a forcefulkiss. His hands wander again, distracting rather than directing. In relief, hereyes slip close and a couple tears bead down her cheek.
Maybe …maybe tomorrow she can think about this. Maybe tomorrow she can follow cluesand make connections. Maybe tomorrow she can believe in the curse.
Today, all the reality she can bring herself to believe in is him.
