this song is really open to any kind of interpretation and 2 me it’s more about the fear of/hesitation around sex due to amatonormativity and how sex is so mystified in our society, especially in the teen-to-early-adult ages where it’s practically expected of you (especially in places like the us which is veeeery amatonormative). it’s sort of this in-between blurry feeling and this trying to understand like. do you really desire this or do you just feel like you have to in order to be like everyone else? which absolutely bleeds into asexuality/aspec-ness in general and/or hypersexuality🤞 it’s basically just a cool deconstruction of sex culture* but it fits perfectly as the greysexual anthem too 🙏 ^_^

WHY WIULD YOY SAY THIS..

a lot of these lyrics fit like . to an evil degree they fit so well that it’d feel silly to say something about it . but THESE SPECIFICALLY.. THESE R RESLLY EVIL AND IT MAY SEEM OUT OF PLACE BUT COME HERE LET ME TELL U. LET ME TELL YOU !!! because in early s2 you see william grow disenchanted with the hero system and kind of reject their morals.. which is really disheartening to dakota and you can kinda watch him bargain with that logic vs his worship of heroes.. yknow like . trying to stay loyal to the people he idolized (ever since he was a little kid !!!!!) while also staying loyal to william (who he also idolizes.. homophobic dog image). you see this arc’s sort of halfway point during his “no more statues” monologue in s2ep14(? iirc) and you see it fully resolve itself during his speech to the heroes in s2ep38 - “today i’m not that kid, and you’re not my heroes. i’m part of your team”. but along that way !!! he had to look back at a lot of what he lived and realize that there are flaws in the hero system !! a lot of his experience in s2 really took the “magic” out of heroism to him . he returned to what he knew for comfort after the s1 finale (running off to mato) but it did nothing to protect him from the fact that ashe was gone and pd were kinda fractured at that point.. nostalgia couldn’t save him and if anything might’ve even made things worse. he had to realize that A Lot Of Shit Sucks and choose to stay optimistic/determined in spite of it !!! does this make any sense…
