Books of 2022: "Only On The Weekends" by @deanatta ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5 ***** I had to immediately get my hands on this latest from Atta when it was announced so I immediately pre-order it! (Support your favorite authors by pre-ordering their books!) And this one did disappoint! Beautifully written and filled with well-rounded depictions of teenage emotions, Dean Atta has another great YA novel in verse that if filled with the powerful emotion and insight that Atta does such an excellent job putting into verse. Books of 2022: Foster by Claire Keegan ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5 **** I absolutely loved "Small Things Like These," and I was excited that "Foster" was getting a US release (even though I had the UK/Irish edition for a while 😅). Just like "Small Things...", here is a heartbreaking but thought-provoking story that is beautifully compelling in such a few pages. Books of 2022: "Monsters Born and Made" by @tanviberwah ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5 ***** It's always great to highlight debut authors, particularly authors of color and I'm so proud to give a thrilling review of this one. I didn't like The Hunger Games and although this novel was inspired by it, I found Monsters Born and Made to be so much better, more compelling, more riveting and have a main character that I wanted to root for from beginning to end. Berwah doesn't write a dystopian tale but a story that is jampacked with so many relatable themes that any reader of this novel will habe a connection with. I can say more about "Monsters Born and Made" but this is something you should read for yourself. If you loved The Hunger Games, read this since it's better in my opinion. If you didn't like The Hunger Games, read this one instead! This book has something for every type of reader which makes it one of my favorites of the year! And I'm glad I did! It provides a very interesting spin on Greek mythology. And I love the watercolor artwork! It is so breathtaking to read through.
