#cursed child delphi meets my delphi???

everything that has changed in the extra shortened broadway version of Harry Potter and the Cursed Child:

i went for a friend's birthday last night and got to see the now newly shortened (again) cursed child play and there were a lot of differences. it was super fast paced and didn't leave the actors a lot of time to breathe or live in their characters as much. it was still so lovely but it's definitely more of a shell than it once was. that being said! my friend and i have compiled a list of all the things that have been altered (that we can remember)

i tried to put everything as in order as possible but my brain isn’t always very good at that!

ACT 1

The whole bit about Hermione thinking Ron confunded the driving examiner is cut

“People always look when you three are together” bit is cut

Albus and Rose happen upon Scorpius much quicker in his compartment

Rose doesn’t say anything when Albus is sorted into Slytherin

There’s been a rumor about Voldemort having a child every year Scorpius isn’t the first to be accused was cut from Draco and Harry’s interaction on the platform.

Albus doesn't ask "What's the counter-curse?" in the potions scene; significantly cut down

Wandlore dance is extended slightly (I think??)

When Albus casts “Incendio” on his Hogsmeade slip, he doesn’t follow it up with his “The ironic thing is I didn’t expect it to work. I’m terrible at that spell.” bit, just leaves after Harry speaks

Harry and Hermione walk into Harry’s office at the same time for the time turner reveal scene instead of Hermione walking in and Harry already being there

The time turner reveal scene is much quicker

When Albus meets Delphi at the stairs, his dialogue of "Who are you? Because this is my house…" is cut and she just skips into the "You must be Albus Potter." lines after popping in with her first few lines

Rose pulls Albus into the compartment this time to speak to him instead of just walking in front of him to speak with him

Dialogue between Albus and Rose is cut down a bit before he goes to get Scorpius off the train

I think the “You really are an enormous geek.” bit was taken out

When Albus asks Scorpius “Did Cedric need to be killed?, instead of saying “Easy question, easy answer: No.”, Scorpius quietly responds “No” before Albus continues on with his ramble

Draco doesn’t say “Voldemort is dead. Voldemort is gone”, his first line in this scene is after the Dark Mark mention

Amos doesn’t say “Of COURSE they do!” when Albus tells him that the ministry has a time turner

Albus, Scorpius, and Delphi (all transfigured into their counterparts at this point) don’t go into the telephone booth to go to the ministry; instead, Delphi/Hermione and Scorpius/Harry wander off one way while Albus/Ron goes the other way (the wrong way) and they have to call him back

No fishfinger sandwiches remark from Hermione to Albus/Ron :(

Bane is completely cut

They have Harry, Draco, Ginny and Ron all searching in the forest instead of just Harry then they split off only Harry being there.

Harry searches the forest instead of encountering Bane; Ginny has to come get him

Albus isn’t in his pajamas in the hospital ward when he wakes up, just his uniform

Harry comes to the realization somehow on his own that Scorpius is the issue “It isn’t a what that’s wounding him, it’s a who” (or something along those lines) and then bans Albus from seeing Scorpius

Ron and Hermione's encounter atop the stairs is MUCH shorter

The entire scene where Harry gives McGonagall the Marauders Map and instructs her to watch Albus and Scorpius is cut

No Bane mention in the Draco and Harry fight scene

If I recall, the lines “I don’t want to hurt you, Draco.” and “How interesting, because I do want to hurt you,” were said earlier in the scene because of cut dialogue

Ginny says “It’s been one minute. What did I miss?” instead of “I only left the room three minutes ago. What did I miss?”

When Harry, Ginny, and Draco go to McGonagall’s office, some dialogue is cut

ACT 2

The act starts with Scorpius on stage in this scene; he’s surrounded by the death eaters as they do the Voldemort Day dance around him instead of him being absent in this scene (only really good change in my opinion, it looked super neat and added to the story)

Scorpius is a lot more intimidating towards Craig when asking where Snape is (trying to take on this counterpart of Scorpion King)

Scorpius doesn’t hug Albus in the water when he reappears (very well could have just been a this showing thing)

Ron and Hermione’s “marriage renewal” scene is cut and changed to just them almost making out (big loss because that scene was amazing)

When Scorpius tells Albus he thought of him to fought off the dementors, Albus goes “Oh.” pauses and then goes , “I mean… Good,” softly

Dialogue is cut from the Owlery scene, including the “it’s time that time-turning became a thing of the past!“ silly bit

Ron doesn’t ramble too long at all about having drinks with Neville, it’s just one short sentence; added in that Delphi is an “older girl” (from the five hour cut originally) and Ron is all like “but go get ‘em I guess”

Ron says “specialis-draco-is-stupido” or something along the lines of that instead of directly repeating "specialis revelio" to mock him

Hermione unscrews the bulb instead of Ginny

No “Still, if I had to choose a companion to be at the return of eternal darkness with, I’d choose you.” bit, that whole scene is considerably shorter :(

Harry and Ginny have a bit of a longer chat in the church; Ginny goes “You're lucky to have me, aren't you?” and Harry responds with “Extremely.” (derived from the original 5-hour play but swapped with who says it)

Ginny and Albus don’t have their heart-to-heart in the church

Delphi's magic show (the fight at the end) is shorter and happens more rapidly than before

it's quite a lot looking at it all on paper. truthfully, i miss the old version. if anyone has seen this shortened version and can remember anything else and/or i'm misremembering anything, let me know! i know i was searching for this when the play was first shortened again so i hope this reaches others who might be curious!

cursed child broadway year 5 scorbus

the other day i had the absolute pleasure of watching cursed child on broadway!! i sat front row so i was super close to the action and it was incredible!!!

i got to see the amazing joel meyers and erik c. peterson as albus and scorpius and i just wanted to say that their scorbus is SO. BEAUTIFUL.

their dynamic is the absolute cutest and i could not stop smiling when watching them! i posted a small thread on twitter about this and wanted to share my notes i took during intermission and after the show based on what i watched between these two!

i’ll put the points under a ‘more’ button so it doesn’t spoil anything for anyone but tap below if you want to read about joel and erik’s scorbus from my show the other night!

i also got to meet erik after the show but besides the point ENJOY MY NOTES

their first meet was so cute!!! both so shy with each other and honestly very careful but you can tell both of them know they’re making the right decision speaking to each other (side note maya as rose is so funny i love her)

“YOU CAN STAND NEXT TO ME!!!” was SO passionate on erik’s part which contrasted to his scorpius in the train scene which was SO CUTE

joelbus placing a hand on scorik’s shoulder after finding out about astoria and giving him a side hug as they walked off stage ☹️

joelbus looked so hurt and in disbelief when harry yelled at him in the bedroom it hurt me so much

when joelbus hugs scorik for the first time on the train, it’s such a squeezy hug and scorik is very calm and collected whilst panicked at the same time i giggled

THE SLOW MOTION ON THE TRAIN both joelbus and scorik were holding onto each other and joelbus began to fall backwards and it basically looked like scorik was dipping him romantically it was sooooo not straight of them

scorik tried to climb the suitcases onto the top of the train but started to panic saying “albus i can’t!!” so joelbus started to tell him to get down and basically picked him up by the waist and put him back on the floor SO DOMESTIC OF THEM (picture that one dance scene from the little mermaid cartoon where eric picks ariel up if you can’t picture it)

when in the forest with delphi, scorik is SO JEALOUS and when watching from afar he looks so hurt seeing albus and delphi and gives her the biggest glare when he approaches them

scorik was very certain in the edge of the forest scene when he said albus was better. he KNEW how amazing he was and wasn’t afraid to say it and joelbus looked so warmed by his comment

staircase ballet!!! they both just stared at each other for a very long time at the top of the stairs and at the end when their staircases parted, scorik reached out to joelbus :(

the library scene was SO WELL DONE THERES SO MUCH TO SAY!!! scorik’s “TRY MY LIFE!!!” was so painful i genuinely teared up you could see the absolute pain in his eyes and all the bottled up emotions just spilling out he deserved the biggest hug

when joelbus said he wasn’t a loser before he met scorpius, scorik looked absolutely destroyed omg and when scorik said albus was the most terrible friend and didn’t make his life better, joelbus looked so regretful and upset with what he’d done

joelbus’ apology to scorpius was so beautiful!! the gentle voice and the pauses between every line!! when he said scorpius was a light in the darkness it was so sweet!!! when scorik interrupted him with a ‘thank you’ after albus apologised about astoria, it was so :(((

after the apology, they were both so giggly and soft with each other with the most gentle smiles it was so cute!!! and when joelbus pulled scorik into the hug, they really sat into it and when they broke apart, it genuinely looked like they’d been caught doing something wrong

scorik in the dark world needed to be protected omg the poor boy looked so scared all the time

LAKE SCENE OH MY GOD when joelbus emerged from the lake, scorik swam over to him and grabbed his face and caressed it whilst saying the “it’s really you!” line IT WAS ADORABLE HE WAS SO RELIEVED AND HAPPY

special mention to scorik’s screaming fest after jumping out of the lake (“ITS HARRYYYYY!”) it was SO FUNNY he was shaking his body around so violently and was on his hands and knees screaming at the top of his lungs PLS the applause afterwards was deserved

in mcgonagall’s office, as she’s telling them both off, you could see scorik reaching his hand backwards trying to find joelbus and joelbus looked down at his hand and his fingers did move close to his hand but they pulled apart before they could touch !!!!!

the entire beginning of the owlery scene (which is the dialogue from slytherin dorms in the one parter) was so cute!!! they both did not break eye contact and joelbus was so shocked when scorik confessed he changed everything back because of him and thought of him

as delphi was torturing scorik, joelbus’ screams were SO SAD he was tearing his throat apart screaming scorpius’ name and pleading delphi to stop it broke my heart :(((

delphi did the mocking ‘friend’ line delivery and when she said ‘love’ as albus’ weakness and pointed at scorpius, both joelbus and scorik’ locked eyes with absolute shock and fear on their faces and refused to break it until delphi pulled them away

very touchy with each other in the train station scene! scorik held onto joelbus’ arm and touched his chest when talking to him!! and after his little “hello mr station man” bit, joelbus absolutely glared at him LMAO

GODRICS HOLLOW OH MY GODDDD they were always reaching for each other and joelbus even took scorik’s hands in one part when they were panicking

when they hid from lily and james behind the door, scorik stood in joelbus’ arms (one on scorik’s shoulder and the other around his chest) and then scorik turned in his arms to face him and placed a hand on the arm that was over his chest and the other on joelbus’ chest !!!! they stood very close together in that part and looked so comforted in each other’s embrace it was so cute :’)

scorik shoved joelbus after the ‘no offence’ line and they giggled ☹️

when the battle with delphi ended, scorik came over to joelbus and placed a hand on his arm (and i couldn’t tell from the angle i was sitting on bc joel blocked the view but i’m pretty certain they were holding hands as well)

STAIRCASE SCENE when joelbus said the palace line, he delivered it so slowly and he carefully placed his hand on scorik’s shoulder whilst glancing between his lips and eyes and when scorik said “isn’t it?” he reached out to joelbus and they were both leaning in !!!!

scorik began to leave but then stopped, looked back at joelbus, pondered for a second and then ran to hug him and joelbus absolutely melted into it and they embraced each other so tightly and intimately and delivered the lines whilst hugging until “i wasn’t sure” 😭😭😭😭😭

and finally, once joelbus told harry that scorpius was the most important person in his life and harry said it was a good thing, he looked so happy and relieved and began to cry ☹️

another small detail throughout the show i loved was the breathing exercises they’d do together!!! whenever scorik got over excited or worried, joelbus would guide him through a short breathing exercise to ground him it was so lovely

overall, i am so glad i got to see these two as scorbus!!! their interpretation of their relationship is so cute and made my heart melt completely <3

Another unpopular opinion about Albus:

I've seen people think of Albus as a character that is rude to all people(especially authority figures) except Scorpius. A character who swears(fuck you, fuck off, bitch, etc) at people, a person who offends everyone. Some people hate him for it, others think he's a badass. People think that Scorpius is the polite one in the relationship and Albus is the rude one.

Um... Excuse me....(Pun intended)

This is Albus in St Oswald. After seeing the complete and utter chaos, dude is still polite. People didn't listen to him after the first excuse me. Dude could've been absolutely rude about it. Instead he STILL went all excuse me.

When Albus meets Amos, even when Amos is hostile and insults Albus multiple times, Albus still remains pleasant.

Albus ain't the rude kid in the relationship. Both Albus AND Scorpius are polite ones.

When Albus and Delphi first met, Albus could've said "Fuck off. How dare you be at my house you tresspasser?" and it would be completely justified. When Delphi brings up Harry, fanon Albus would've been like "Fuck you I ain't my dad" and would've insulted Delphi in some way sarcastically(Canon Albus however simply said "Not really"). But he does neither of them. When Delphi mentions how kids teased her with her name, Albus emphatises her and says his own experience("They do all sorts with my name too").

The only person Albus is rude to is Harry(And he ain't rude to his dad until third year). And Rose during the train scene on fourth year. And during the library scene, Scorpius. That's it.

Fanfics make him aggressive towards Polly and Karl when they mock him(and when they don't as well). But..

Albus doesn't say anything canonically to them in response to the bullying. He just becomes sad. In the second picture, Albus literally tried to ignore them in favor of focusing on the potion.

When he does respond to others teases and taunts, it is in his third year.

I didn’t choose, you know that? I didn’t choose to be his son.

That ain't a snarky line.

When I first read Cursed Child, I theorized that Albus wouldn't snap back when he got bullied and would instead internalize it and bottle it all up. When summer arrived, Albus couldn't stand it and blew up Harry. In short, Harry is Albus' punching bag.(Kind of like how, in Trials of Apollo, Meg is against Caligula instead of Nero even when Nero was actually the abuser and Caligula didn't do anything, since it's easier(and safer) to hate Caligula. And how Apollo blames Zeus' abuse on his lightning bolts instead of Zeus himself. Bullying may not be as bad as abuse but the same logic applies here. Harry actually doesn't do any abusive actions until fourth year)

It is possible that Albus was simply rude to people(Harry did mention that Albus became "surly" at Hogwarts). But there aren't canonical examples to support this. If he were to be rude, I wouldn't say he's rude to authority figures(except Harry ofc). More likely, he took his anger out on a younger year. Or a random stranger. If he were to actually converse with them, I suppose he'd be polite.

Tldr: Albus is a polite kid. His rudeness is only for Harry. But he is the type of kid to lash out

MINISTRY OF MAGIC, GRAND MEETING ROOM

𝕾𝖊𝖛𝖊𝖗𝖚𝖘 𝖋𝖊𝖊𝖑𝖘 𝖘𝖎𝖈𝖐, standing in the shadows of the meeting room with many other wizards and witches. Remus stands next to him, his arms crossed over his chest. Trang was on the other side of him, having brought news from Professor McGonagall that Craig Jr. was dead and that she would be here soon with even worse news. 

But all Severus knew was that his daughter was missing again and a child on the Hogwarts ground was dead. Whatever had happened wasn't good and that woman that Ron had mentioned- Delphi, Voldemorts' daughter- had to be behind him. He worried what the daughter of Voldemort would do to his daughter. 

Silence fell as Hermione walked out, raising her hand. "Thank you. I'm so pleased so many of you were able to make my- second- Extraordinary General Meeting. I've got some things to say- I ask that we deal with questions- and there will be lots of questions- after I speak. As many of you know, a body has been found at Hogwarts. His name was Craig Bowker. He was a good boy. We have no firm information who was responsible for the act but yesterday we searched St. Oswald's. A room there revealed two things- one, a prophecy that promised- the return of darkness- two, written on the ceiling, a proclamation that the Dark Lord had a- that Voldemort had a child." 

Chatter immediately started to murmur around the room with shock too. 

"We don't know the full details. We're only just investigating- questioning those with a Death Eater connection. . . And as yet no record has been found either of the child or of the prophecy- but tit does look like there's some truth to it. This child was kept hidden from the wizarding world, and now she's- well now she's. . ." 

"She?" Severus nearly jumped in surprise, not having noticed that Professor McGonagall had come in and was now asking the questions, "A daughter? He had a daughter?" 

"Yes. A daughter." 

Severus watches the Headmistress of Hogwarts pale. "And I'm assuming you don't know where she is?" 

"We have an assumption that she's somewhere in time." Harry spoke up. "It's possible that my son-" 

"Our son!" Ginny interrupted. 

"-Our son." Harry said but was interrupted again. 

"Or mine." Draco interjected. 

"One of the children perhaps gave her the time-turner, thinking her to be a friend." Harry sighed. "She was disguising herself as Amos Diggorys' niece, hence the raid on St. Oswald's as that was where she worked." 

"She was the one that killed Craig." Minerva said, confirming Severus' suspicions. Severus heard Remus curse next to him. Trang put a hand over her mouth while Kingsley put a hand on Trang's shoulder, whispering something in her ear. "And she took Albus, Scorpius, and Marinette with her. I got there just as they disappeared. I waited for them to come back since I knew about the five minute time limit, but they didn't come back. That's why I sent Trang ahead of me." 

Severus felt like he was going to be sick again. What was he going to tell Elizabeth when she woke up? If she woke up? 

"This is grievous news." Hermione said, frowning. "If they didn't come back from the past in the allotted five minutes-" 

"But I thought the time-turner brought you back wherever you were in the past?" Draco questioned. "So if they moved from the Quidditch field to say. . . I don't know the potions classroom, would they not have appeared at the potions classroom instead?" 

"But when Albus and Scorpius came back from the past the first time, they appeared where we had seen them just moments before." Ron pointed out. 

"So it's not consistent?" Kingsley questioned. 

"We're not sure, there hasn't been enough testing." Hermione sighed, "And without it, it is obviously to hard to test. Nott will be questioned however and anyone else involved in the process with him." 

"What does Elizabeth Kane have to say about all of this?" Someone near the back shouted. 

'Snape.' Severus grouched in his head. 

"Elizabeth hasn't been feeling well and hasn't even been alerted to the situation yet, unless she has foreseen it." Hermione said, dodging around the questions. "The Snape family is asking for privacy while she recovers, it is still not an easy ailment to get over." 

That's an understatement. 

"However if Elizabeth ever does have anything to say about it, I'm sure she'll address you herself." Hermione continued. 

If she ever woke up. 

"The short fact is," Hermione continued, "No one knows where they are. I trust that the children will be doing all they can to stop her, but we don't know. We haven't give up. We've gone to the giants. The trolls. Everyone we can find. The Aurors are out flying, searching, talking to those who know secrets, following those who won't reveal secrets." 

"But there is one truth we can't escape. That somewhere in our past a witch is trying to rewrite everything we ever knew." Harry interjected seriously. "And all we can do is wait- wait for the moment she either succeeds or fails." 

"And if she succeeds?" Professor McGonagall asked. 

"Then- just like that- most of the people in this room will be gone. We'll no longer exist and Voldemort will rule again." 

Severus was going to be damned if he let that happen.

Harry Potter and The Cursed Child, ACT FOUR SCENE ELEVEN: GODRIC’S HOLLOW, CHURCH, 1981

I admit, I was about to cry with joy at this part! Finally my Otp recognized as canonical in everyone's eyes🥲

HP Cursed Child Au that either takes place at the time of the original Cursed Child or like a year after the end of the second wizarding war, but Audrey replaces Albus as the main focus. Since it would be an insult to Audrey to just put her in the canon version of the play, I decide I would make an au. Otherwise known as here's the bullet points for an au created by taking the alternate timelines from the original play and reworking them:

It's me so have the main group of the au are Audrey, Penelope, Percy, Oliver and Marcus. Audrey is around the age of the other four, which mean Hogwarts is mostly getting cut. RIP to the og Cursed Child cast, other gen charaters and the wierd ass dream sequences, I'm only going to miss Teddy tbh

The He-Who-Lacks-A-Nose child rumour, the prophecy and the existance of Delphi are getting removed. Could all three be changed in some way? Yes, but the most developed character between Percy, Oliver, Marcus, Penny and Audrey is Percy and I'm 90% percent sure that's just because he's a Weasley in the books, so I want more time to focus on them.

How Penny and Audrey meet is by a delayed train (esentially how the meeting of the two main characters goes in NANA minus the fact that neither have the same name). I know it might come across as convientiant but trains are a staple of the sieres that I wanted to include in some way even if the Hogwarts Express is off the table

I like the idea of the alternate realities but I don't like how the original play gets to them or how the og cast is changed in the alternate timelines. So the time turner stuff from the play is getting changed to a sort of demension hopping or reality warping device or artifact (Not quite sure on the details but if it changes reality, the reality goes to a more desired reality for the user using their memories as a base for past events. I imagine each reality created has about two different ways of getting reality back to how it was pre device usage). So while the train is delayed, someone (I'd say either Kingsley or one of the og trio would probably be best. No matter who it is they have at least a scene with Percy and not just a quick pass off of the device.) passes of the device to Percy. I imagine Percy being banned from destroying it at some point, so that probably works best being first brought up here. Cue Percy having the device for the rest if the au.

The train finally arrives and as such Penny introduces Audrey to Percy. This would the scene before the first time the device (I'm just going to call it device for the rest of this post) goes off by accident and is just with Percy, Penny and Audrey. Since, Audrey is the only one out that has the least character presence in the canon books and original cursed child, her appealing reality/dimension somehow linking to her first is the first dimension/reality that occurs. Of which after this I don't really currently know much after.

How Audrey meets Marcus and Oliver is via Percy and Penny introducing them to each other at a bar. It can be the Hog's Head if a cameo of Aberfoth works.

At some point in the dimension/reality linking to Percy, part of the canon bookshelf in Hermione's office scene occurs because I like how excited Scorpius gets and I think it fits Percy/Penny

I love how you went straight to Greek mythology because originally I was itching to talk about it but I held back since…well I always go to Greek mythology. BUT! you have given me reason.

Focusing on how you connected werewolves into this (I love it) I'm thinking of the myth of Lycaon where he sacrificed a child on an altar/ tried to feed Zeus human flesh (strangely common occurrence I'll add) and was punished by being turned into a wolf. This myth also then was MAYBE used to explain a festival/ceremony that involved sacrificing a wolf that was maybe thought to be a werwolf. What I'm saying is that theres defo a basis for the idea of werewolves steming from atleast a goddly curse whether that is a greek god or not.

Linking to that: I THINK its at that same festival I mentioned but it's written that people would turn into wolves after performing sacrifices towards Zeus. If the wolf managed to not consume human flesh whilst living as a wolf they would return to human form 9 years later, if not they'd remain that way forever. I think this idea of consuming other people being what keeps this beastly form is (yes symbolic of the idea of stepping beyond the lines of civilisation and into the 'barbaric' act of canibalism) very intresting when we view it as a link to vampires and how when they first taste human blood they shift from fledgling to propper vampire. Even though the wolves in mbav don't have that same "bite a man and your a wolf forever" it would make perfect sense for that to have been a sure thing somewhere within their genetic history. Alternatively maybe the wolves DO still have that ability but we just never saw it cuss Ethan was cured within days and the other guy…well he bit Ethan so it isn't looking good in terms of healing.

moving away from werewolves and focusing on Apollo (kind of) I think it's really interesting to see the vampires ability to wolf in sunlight as a blessing from Apollo. I haven't currently got any thoughts to add to that beyond its a great idea I just wanted you to know I loved it.

You also mentioned how if Ethan would take on the role as an Apollo 'child' (or follower) then Benny would be the Hermes/Dionysus pairing. I offer you this: Ethan as Apollo, Benny as Hermes, Rory as Dionysus. I put Rory with Dionysus since Dionysus is twice born, he's heavily linked with the idea of walking beyond the line of society which as a vampire works pretty well with Rory. Also wine and blood. Benny as Hermes is a slightly awkward fit (like putting a square into a rectangle hole on a baby toy. yes it works, but is the BEST choice?) but I think it works well from the idea that Hermes is like Apollo in how people just went "ahh shit we got another territory…let's just slap it on hermes and carry on with our day" so as such he has a collection of kinda random things, which I think works pretty well with how unorganised Bennys magic is and how random the spells he uses. Like theres no rhyme or reason as to what Benny learns he just goes "yeah I wanna do that today" and he does it. Also as a trickster (thinking of the myth were he steals cows by turning their hoves backwards) Hermes and benny work well. This paragraph has no reason to exist I just love rambling.

ANYWAY onto what I was actually going to add: I always have a bad habit of linking seers to Tiresias specifically (which….actually kind of sucks cuss the main Tiresias myth I see is his origin where it's ZEUS who gives him prophecy in response to Hera blinding him). This linkage for me always added to that vampire seer mixed genetic makeup since my introduction to him was through Oedipus and the Odyssey (I'm not gonna expand to much but Oedipus is actually usefull here aswell since it's Apollo who sent the plauge and also the prophecy and both Tiresius and Delphi. Plague, healing, society, prophecy, it all blends well and shows that shared connection). The odyssey is always the fun one cuss we meet him when he's already dead. Odysseus sacrifces a lamb when he's in Hades to allow the souls to drink the blood and for a moment regain both their human memorys and their feelings. WIthout that blood the ghosts walk as shadows of their formers selves, barely recognisable as human beyond their forms. This idea of humanity being regained through the consumption of blood is SO intresting and tricky from a symbolic pov but for this theory I'm just gonna say that this is where I link vampires in specifically since its perfect.

BUT! You mentioned Apollo, which to me my mind goes straight to Delphi. This addition isn't going to expand the genetic family tree but it is going to explain a bit on Seers specifically. Historically it's been understood that the oracles in Delphi were all experiencing brain damage and hallucinations from the volcanic gas under the area and also a nearby lake which released hallucinogenic vapour (they'd most likely wash in the lake either their whole bodies or their hands and feat as a religious cleansing. Some would also sleep outside near the lake to get dream visions). For the my babysiters a vampire universe I'll say that the Oracles were both real AND experiencing this damage since we know the supernatural exists. This idea of prophecy being directly linked to bodily harm from the outside world is brain itching when we assume that the seers of Ethans day have seem to evolved beyond having to evoke a God directly, almost as if they have evolved to do it off their own power OR the act of prophecy is the direct worship and evokation. Either way, it's evolved beyond Delphi, but if we watch Ethans reaction he almost seizes up and his eyes white out, it's a physical reaction. I would almost bet that as the visions became stronger or if Ethan found other powers the reaction of his body would worsen or even deteriorate. Which would then link to my earler thing of Seers functioning of the blood they create themselves which then leads to shorter lifespans than other supernatrual creatures or potential dysabilitys.

Also I love how mythology can be treated as an accurate source within mbav because of the mummy episode and the sun god episode. Though both those religions existing implies all religions potentially exist which makes for a very interesting and messy accurate religion which I will NEVER try to understand.

Even if we draw from Ancient Egyptian mythology (must admit, I am weaker in this than Greek since I'm not doing a degree in it so some of this might be a bit washy but we power through) theres a very interesting idea with Vampires (not as in literal vampires, just the thematic connections). Osiris is the god of death (after his own…not so peaceful death) with his son (who may have been conceived post-mortem….this has no baring to the theory I just need people to suffer this knowledge with me) Horus being seen as a god of healing, sun, and sky. You also then have Isis who was Osiris's wife and Horus's mother who was like…THE Goddess of healing. That connection just creates a very intresting cycle of life and death which vampires seem to be stuck in the middle off

This is gonna be a mish mash of cultures and ideas so bare with me. In eastern Europe (specificly slavic countrys) the vampire was an almost ghostly spirit rather than our common undead sexy friend. They were trixters to some extent, spread disease but in the way rats do rather than the specific bite we know. They also didn't consume blood. So this is the technical truth aspect of this idk 'theory' (but more headcannon I suppose). From this, I headcannon, it evolved into two specific paths: the vampire as we know and the seer. Both evolved to revolve around blood since blood is commonly seen as a holder of the human spirit and life force making it a very powerful energy source. Vampires evolved specifically as almost undead creatures, focusing on that ghostly aspect and almost making the souls haunt the dead body in such a way that it becomes 'imortal'. The sucking of blood is to create a constant source of energy to power the 'possession' and inturn their existence- like food for us. The 'infectious bite' then becomes a combination of corpse germs and supernatual infliction that continues to create vampires- something their ancestor obviously did not have due to the lack of biting and corperal form. on the otherhand, seers found their powersource in blood by creating their own. Specifically in having a functioning human body. The living body acts as a conduit for the supernatural power wich is displayed by divination and prophecy, what which ghosts being conected to the past and human life being seen as something of the future. This ghostly ancestor also explains why Ethan can see ghosts when touching their objects, he's channeling that energy. Of course if having a living body was such an easy way to have blood the vampire would have done it too, the problem with using your own body as a conduit continuously is that it starts to degrade over time either with natural circumstance like being old as shit and dying, or your body contracting ilnesses. It's has it's ups and downs. anyway the idea of a common ancestor is so intresting to me, especially since in the few mythologys I research prophecy and disease are strangely commonly linked. And I mean blood has ALWAYS been apart of seeing the future, think of literally any form of animal sacrifice amongst religions. Or how in some underworld storys the souls must consume the blood of a sacrifice (not necessarily human!) to be able to comunicate.

the other week i got to see the year 7 london cast of cursed child and i am AMAZED!!! such a strong cast of wonderful performers across the board and i was absolutely blown away with their performances! you can tell they really understand their characters and have really worked on the dynamics and relationships with each other to create a realistic interpretation of these beloved characters!!

as always, i’m always watching the scorbus duos to see the little things they do with each other and i just want to say that ellis and harry’s scorbus is such a delight!!! they’re definitely my fav pair now hands down! such a sweet youthful portrayal of albus and scorpius and their dynamic on stage is so so pure i adored them sooo much!!

like mentioned before, such an incredible cast and i am so sad i won’t get to see them again!!! they are truly wonderful and i hope a lot of you get to see them bc they are fantastic <3

I like your takes/analysis. They’re a lot of fun, and actually thoughtful to the character. I just read your Darth Vader analysis, and I immediately thought, “Wow, imagine Voldemort as a dad.” Then I remembered that JK accepted The Cursed Child as cannon which means Voldy actually is a dad. So, I suppose my question is what do you think Voldy would be as a father? And, if you have time, what kind of father would a young Tom Riddle have been if it had happened back in the day? Considering he had such a dour relationship—or lack thereof—with his own father, I always wondered what he thought of fatherhood.

That’s a tough question and honestly hard for me to land on an answer.

I see it going one of two ways:

Tom is very disinterested in his child/has no idea how to connect with them at all and is barely a father

Tom would be a very good father precisely because his own childhood was so very messed up.

I feel like I should probably drop October in here, as Tom is a father in that, but that’s in a world that ends up very different to the one we see in canon. So, it’s hard to say how much it applies.

Right, the first case. By the time he truly becomes Voldemort, in the early to mid 1970′s, I think Tom Riddle is an emotional mess. He’s angry, depressed, nihilistic, and is mindlessly pursuing a goal just to see society burn. This is not someone in a good position to be a father. 

I imagine he’d basically ignore the child he never wanted.

Being immortal, Tom Riddle has no need of legacy in the form of children and I think his never having taken a wife (despite all the purebloods getting married very young) is very telling. 

I can just see him having no idea what to do with this person. Especially, if, the mother is say Bellatrix LeStrange and warping the child beyond all imagination. If Tom meets the creepy hellion that would be Delphi raised by Bellatrix I imagine he would just choose to look the other way and pretend none of this is happening.

The second case, if this all happens before he gets in too deep with Voldemort and loses hope in everything (or, mumble grumble mumble, MY SHIP HAPPENS) then I imagine it might... give him some hope in this world. I can  see him wanting his progeny to have a much better family life than he himself did, to be everything his parents weren’t. 

Of course, he’d have to balance being a father with this ridiculous Voldemort persona he puts on, which would surely be a disaster and a half, but that’s another story.
