I am no longer doing the voice of Cirinel myself! After a lot of takes and workshopping, I've concluded that I just don't have the voice I envision her having as a full-fledged character. Casting her properly is very important to me, and I want to do her concept justice.

That being said:

Casting Call for Cirinel is now open! CLOSED! We found our voice! Thank you to everyone who submitted!

If you've never heard of her before, welcome! Cirinel is a custom-voiced follower I'm making for Skyrim SE. She's a high elf from the Isle of Balfiera, located in High Rock, and she's recently escaped Thalmor imprisonment and torture.

Reference pictures:

Voices I'm looking for:

Feminine American or British accents

A semi-sophisticated voice (she's nobility in her homeland, but very far removed from Summerset aristocracy)

A lot of pep and energy

The ability to convey grief

A smooth voice with some allure for when she's speaking normally

Other requirements:

Good microphone quality with no background interruptions (I can handle white noise reduction and compression myself, but please no loud background noises, popping, or peaking)

A discord or an email to contact you through

Commitment; this is a long project and she's the main character, so I need someone that can stick with her long-term as I get all the writing, coding, and debugging done

Note 1: This role is only open to people 18 or older. No exceptions, sorry!

Note 2: This is unpaid work, as this is a passion project I'm doing in my free time.

I don't want to be too soap-boxy about this, it's more of a personal vent than a PSA, I guess.

Creators/mod authors are not the characters they create.

I've done game dev & made art in video game spaces for years now, & something I've noticed happening more and more is that people form one-sided parasocial relationships with, and unrealistic/unhealthy expectations/perceptions of creators based on characters they happen to create.

The way people treat me when they only know my work vs. the way they treat me in person or when they know what I look like is INSANE. The assumption that you know anything about a person based off a character they made is honestly wild, & being treated poorly based on this in various ways is something that not only myself but many mod authors have dealt with, in one way or another.

It's not even limited to open cruelty, which does happen. It's little comments. The way people treat one mod author vs another. It often leans worse towards women, which is a whole other conversation I don't have time for here.

I just like...urge people who enjoy art, who interact w creators in public spaces and discuss their work, to evaluate whether or not your assumptions are healthy. Should you be assuming a creator's gender, disposition, personality, or otherwise based on a fictional character in a fantasy world? Or should you treat them as they are, as real separate people, and not just their characters that you enjoy (or dislike)?

Anyway, this is just a stream of consciousness, more than anything. Be kind to people. My mental health has been negatively affected more times than I can count by someone treating me as someone I am not based on only knowing my work, and I'm far from the most affected by these kinds of things. Just know that creating characters & stories & art in these spaces requires immense passion, patience, and time from our lives 🩷

She's an Altmer from High Rock who was captured and tortured by the Thalmor.

She's a spell-axe with a penchant for conjuration and lightning magic. No ice!

She owes the player big-time for a rescue; you find her outside the Reeking Cave, escaping from the Thalmor Embassy.

She will, eventually, be fully romanceable.

She's scared of horses. She'll get over it. Maybe.

Skyrim custom follower users of Tumblr

I’m currently in the process of making a High Elf follower mod, Cirinel Direnni. Basic facts:

She’s from High Rock (Balfiera)

She has a good relationship with her family

You find her as a Thalmor prisoner

She’s an adrenaline junkie

She’s a spellsword (uses a one-handed axe)

I plan to make her romanceable

I’m taking suggestions while her mod is still in the malleable stage; what would you guys want to see in a follower? Dialogue for specific things, things she can do, quests she’s part of?
