Dragonfly And Opal Automaton 2015. I created this piece for a dear friend using an emerald jewel wing damselfly adorned with genuine opal. Though dragonflies and damselflies are related they are not the same insect. Dragonflies tend to be larger and have different shaped wings whereas damselflies are smaller in shape and their wings (forewings and hindwings)are close to the same shape. I personally find damselflies to have prettier colors so when a client asks me to make a dragonfly piece I show them damselflies too and they tend to choose a damselfly.
