Top Signs You Need Better Dance Studio Software
Running a dance studio is more than just choreography and music. It's also about managing classes, schedules, payments, and student communication all at once. If your current tools or systems are making that difficult, it might be time for an upgrade.
One major red flag is spending too much time on manual tasks. Are you juggling spreadsheets for class rosters, using WhatsApp to send updates, and handling payments through a separate app? These disconnected tools slow you down and increase the chance of errors.
That’s exactly where smart, cloud-based dance studio software can make a big difference. With the right platform, you can automate scheduling, accept bookings online, and send notifications to students and parents all from one dashboard.
Another sign is poor client retention. If your students are missing updates or finding it hard to book classes, they’ll quickly move on to studios with better systems. A streamlined experience increases satisfaction and boosts loyalty.
If you’re also struggling with growth like opening new classes or managing multiple locations, modern dance studio software is designed to scale with you. The best tools adapt to your studio’s needs, not the other way around.
In short, outdated systems are holding you back. Upgrading your software isn’t just a tech decision, it's a smart business move.

there are two wolves inside of you. One of them is fretting that you went through all the effort of making a new art account just to pigeonhole yourself once more into a specific fandom, which holds you back from exploring original art concepts that you care about. The other one came up with three separate ace attorney comic ideas in the last hour alone and isn't stopping anytime soon
#laurellala talks#am i unwell? perhaps#i also drew like 5 more sketchy comics i haven't posted#and a full colored drawing i haven't posted bc i'm overthinking if i need to attach comics to it also or post on its own#i want to draw more muppets interactions and come up with an actual theoretical muppets ace attorney case!#they would get to explore the muppet studio as a location aaa it would be so cuteee#and i'm in the middle of drawing a comic of miles and nick video calling and teasing a young trucy (i love trucy)#and i NEED to draw nick and maya interactions from trials and tribulations case 3 it's so sibling coded agh my heart#also i want to draw lisa basil in general the roboty software company lady#i want to design an ace attorney self insert called Laurel Lyre (you're a liar) and draw sprite expressions and character interactions#she would be an art student that Nick knew from college and she was painting a still life of the scene of the crime#and her painting has something different than how the crime scene looked which is used as proof in court#ALSOOO i had an idea for a silly comic of nick visiting miles in germany (platonic coded)#and of either a comic or short story idea of them going out to dinner together. This one is hard to explain but it would be good#I WANT TO DRAW FRANZISKA TOO i have an angst comic idea for her! And i want to draw her as a kid in dance class#i feel like she has so much scrutiny of herself which is very “i was in dance as a kid” coded. Ballet probably#I ALSO have a comic idea of a holiday party that took place before miles' murder trial but after steel samurai case#where miles begrudgingly talks to phoenix to avoid small talk with strangers and they talk about college#specifically like. it is canon to me that phoenix was in an improv group in college. That's where he learned to bluff. he's so silly#i also want to make a comic of the parents at trucy's school trying to sus out how old nick is#since he's only like what 17 years older than her?#I also want to make a gilmore girls joke but i can't tell if this is too dated to be funny. Do people know this show still#i had never watched it before so i just watched like half a season of it just to make a joke. It's cute.#What Else. I have like 5 animatic ideas but i need to ask my friend what she uses to make hers bc in the past I've used imovie on my phone#do not recommend#and if i don't draw everything RIGHT NOW i'm going to lose interest and nothing will get made!!!!!!#andandand I STILL NEED TO FINISH TRIALS AND TRIBULATIONSSSSS#i got sooo far i'm doing so well in the waitress case#i need to finish it so i can finally understand apollo justice and know what the HECK happened in that time skip#ace attorney

Random dating Joost headcanons
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
SFW and NSFW. +18 only! rpf below, don't interact if you are not comfortable with that
SFW
loves when you come to watch his show, knowing your eyes are on him the whole time makes it even more exciting. Winks and smiles at you whenever he comes dancing closer to the backstage where you are standing.
watching the rest of the head-liners after his show at the festival together. To avoid getting recognised, you both wear facemasks or hoodies with the hood up, but it adds to the fun. You both get a drink, sing along and dance together.
if you were not traveling with him, you always stay up to wait for him to come home. He often comes back tired after multiple sets back to back late at night. He crawls in bed into your waiting arms, head falling into your lap. you run your fingers through his hair, rub his back, whispering sweet nothings to him. He tells you about the show and the after party, all the shenanigans he got up to with his friends, his voice gets quieter and quieter as you rub his back, it turns into soft breathing with him falling asleep in your lap.
loves laying on your chest holding you close to him. Makes him feel safe and loved.
lets you play with his hair, as you sit on his lap facing him, you messily style it into different hairstyles. You give him a middle part, or brush his hair completely behind his ears and take photos of him while giggling. He acts like he is not a big fan of it, but secretly loves the feeling of your fingers in his hair and just watches you have fun.
the photo of him you took with two tiny pig tales, pink bows on each side, does numbers on social media.
you want to see how he will look like with eyeliner? Say no more, he is up for it.
in general loves every activity that involves you being as close to him as possible. Watching tv? he is right next to you, big spooning you or putting your legs on his lap. He needs to be touching you at all times.
an insane amount of inside jokes between you two. Sometimes you only need a glance at him and you both already know what the other is thinking and without saying a word, you burst out laughing at the same time.
he is your biggest hypeman. No matter if it is a small or a big project, he is ready to hype you up and give you all the motivation and affirmation he can. Sometimes it's cheesy phrases, but it works nonetheless. Even if you are simply picking out an outfit for the day, he is there to cheer you on. Hugs you from behind as you are looking into the mirror, covers you in compliments and kisses.
he is a workaholic, spends most of his free time either working on his ipad or in the studio, his brain always going a hundred miles an hour thinking of new ideas for the album or the tour. But he always makes time to plan a date with you, even if you have been dating for a couple of years, each date brings a thrill and you both crave spending quality time together.
loves when you join him in the studio while he is working. He says having you close brings inspiration ho him. You let him do his thing, while you sit on a sofa reading a book or scrolling on your phone, once in a while you hear him hum a melody to himself, while recording it to remember it and potentially use later in a song. Or he plays around with different sounds on the software. When he asks you for a rhyme to a word, you are excited to help him brainstorm. After a few hours he joins you on the sofa, burying his face into your neck kissing softly, while you suggest ideas of what to order for dinner.
loves being taken care of. it can be something small, like you bringing him a plate of food while he is deep into his work, or lather up shampoo into his hair in the shower, gently washing his day away. as you step out of the shower, you wrap a towel around him, drying him off. You lead him into your bedroom, he's had a long day, his eyes are already heavy with sleep, all he wants is to wrap his hands around you, your scent filling his nose and close his eyes.
says "I love you" as often as he breaths and it never looses the heavy meaning behind those words. He means it every time and you always make sure to say it back.
you send him a photo of the belt with a fun chunky buckle you found at the thrift store with a message "do you want me to get this for you? thought it fits your style." A smile spreads across his face, he loves that you thought of him.
gets you matching bracelets. He has your initials and you have a J.K. engraved. Often brings your hand, the one you wear the bracelet on, closer to his chest, sometimes he doesn't even seem to notice he does it, just wants it closer to his heart on an instinct.
facetimes you when he is in a car on his way to a show, sometimes it's short just to see you and hear your voice, or longer calls when he is traveling to another country. He tells you all about his day, asks questions about you. If his friends are also in the car, it becomes a group yap session. You team up with one of them to jokingly make fun of Joost for something he said or did that day. Laughter fills the room through your phone.
the biggest tease in the world. If you are shorter than him, he will use it to an advantage every chance he gets, like holding things you need above your reach. He is a better dancer than you, so he often ends up lightheartedly laughing at your attempts to replicate his dance moves. He loves that you can match his energy and understand his humour.
you tease him back as much. With every shared joke he falls inlove with you even more.
NSFW
as often as he is tired after the show, as if on a flip of a coin, he can also be wired with energy. If on a usual day the sex is great, after the show, both of you high on adrenaline, it is a 100 times better.
sometimes you don't even bother getting home first, you do it in his little room backstage. As soon as you lock the door, his lips collide with yours, hands find your waist to bring you flush against him. Shameless moans fill the room, you both know it's only the people you trust also backstage and no one will walk in.
always tries to make sure you cum first, he gets off on your pleasure. When you came or he feels you are close, he looks into your eyes asking for consent, you nod and he lets loose, hugs you as tight to him as possible still holding your hips and chases his own release, letting out heavy breaths and groans.
loves seeing your face while having sex, his hairy chest and stomach flush against yours, necklace dangling in your face with each thrust.
but also becomes absolutely entranced watching his dick slip in and out of you. If you let him cum inside, he sits back on his heels to watch the cum drip out of you, a reminder of what you just did. He will try to collect it all and push it back in hearing your moan. He likes to think he is not possessive, but doing this can absolutely get him hard again.
if he isn't cumming inside, he loves to do it on your chest or stomach.
because he loves being close to you as much as possible, it often ends in him up getting horny.
his hand slowly sneaking under your t-shirt while you are watching tv together him being a big spoon. A whimper falls from your lips as you feel him palm your tit and lightly pinch your nipple. It gets you in a mood really fast. You will have to rewind the show you were watching, as it was long forgotten when you end up getting pounded from behind or riding him.
loves having you sit on his lap. You are at your friends place on a private patio, he is smoking a cigarette, both of you in a conversation with your friends. His hand slips from your waist to your upper thigh and rests there for a while until he starts rubbing soft circles and grabbing at the soft exposed skin because of a skirt you are wearing. You turn to face him, a smirk spreading on his face, you already know you are in for a fun time when you get back home.
if you are not on his lap, but sitting on a chair beside him, his hand always finds your thigh or he has to be holding your ankle. He is also fine with just holding your hand intertwining your fingers. It grounds him and serves as a reminder that you are his and next to him.
seeing how much he loves the bracelet with his initials you are wearing, you get a necklace with a small pendant that says "klein" in cursive and decide to surprise him with it. To say he loved it, is an understatement, he kept getting hard round after round while looking at it dangling on your neck. (got carried away and wrote the whole thing on this Necklace)

need android!noah to have an anxiety attack mode like mood sensors that immediately trigger him to go into human pillow mode. sensing your distress and calculating appropriate solutions like a hug, cuddles, food, music (sometimes it’s kind of jinky in a laughable way because you’ll be crying and he decides to play dancing queen full volume and it make you laugh so he’s like ‘it works’ nevermind that you’re laughing at his timing) - for not only that situation but anything else that significantly impacts your mood or physical or mental health
he’s just kind of goofy and I love him because he’ll find you laying practically comatose on the floor, come in, look at you, lay on his back next to you in silence for the next ten minutes and then ask ‘so what are we doing?’
ANOOOOON WE'RE HOLDING HANDS AND JUMPING AROUND IN CIRCLES YES!! LITERALLY ALL OF THIS YES!!!!
if i may...
♡ one time you two were resting your head on his chest while you talked and you began to vent/cry over something and you FELT his chest soften. like UNDER YOUR HEAD. and it made you laugh because you didn't know he could just sorta deflate like that
♡ he is a LOT goofier than he lets on let me tell you that. he's very class clown whenever he's around you, always finding new ways to make you laugh.
♡ like if you have a bad relationship with your mom but you have to call her for her birthday and noah knows you're gonna be so pissed off after it, he likes to already have the studio set up and ready to go for you.
♡ not just so you can scream as loud as you want, but so he can record the screams and then fuck with the audio recording in his studio software. he vocodes it to sound like the star spangled banner and shit and it sends you into fucking orbit every time.
♡ the longer you and him are together the more he learns about your emotions. as i said in a prev post, he can kind of do emotion detection? so overtime he starts to be able to pick up what you're feeling without you having to tell him. which makes him have faster reaction times to when you're feeling down!!!!
♡ which, that has malfunctioned sometimes. he somehow detects sadness when you're honestly doing fine and you're extremely confused on why he just SHOT UP OFF THE COUCH to go to your freezer to get you your ice cream????
♡ ALSO THAT LAST ONE YEAH JANSJAJSJA he does that often. like whenever he sees you doing something and he doesn't understand why he just goes "???? okay" and mirrors you.
♡ OR if you're just getting back from somewhere, work or something, he loves to listen to you vent or gossip. one time after a label meeting he couldnt come to, you came home, slammed the front door shut behind you and went "that BITCH" and noah was on it he was like "YEAH! FUCK HER!" despite not having ANY context.
♡ you have a fight with some of your friends (noah knows like surface level about most of your friends) you come home and you're like. "she ALWAYS does this shit she was doing this shit back in MIDDLE SCHOOL" noah's like "UGH. SHE JUST NEVER LEARNS." he will go from being your manly boyfriend to your gossip hypeman in an INSTANT.
♡ whatever you're mad about, whatever youre about to say? HE'S BEHIND IT. he's going to listen to you vent while he makes you a snack.
HE'S JUST A REALLY GOOD BOYFRIEND.

morales twins hcs
i'm absolutely in love with the idea of miles42 and miles1610 being twins, i'm so glad most of the fandom has basically adopted 42 lmao
some of my own twins headcanons, just random stuff to add onto other ppls hcs ive seen:
☆ 42 loves his mamí absolutely but def acts the most like his dad, and haaaates when anyone points it out. it's the most obvious when 42 gets mad, he sounds EXACTLY like his father then lol
☆ in fact, the twins polar opposite personalities is probs bc 1610 takes after his mom's temperament more, while 42 is as stoic, stubborn and slightly dorky as his dad is
☆ whenever the boys made each other cry (by accident or otherwise) they did the typical little kid thing and tried immediately comforting the other. now that they're older 1610 handles his emotions better and is mature when talking about them, but 42 is the one who comforts 1610 more often
more below ↓
☆ as well as staying on top of his academics, 42 also plays basketball and trains in a couple martial arts studios after school. 1610 is taller than 42 bc of the spider bite but 42 has always been slightly bigger and more muscular than 1610 since he's the athlete. whenever the family attends 42's boxing matches, jeff gets an overwhelming sense of deja vu from back when he attended his own brother's matches before
☆ they both got thru school p okay, not many incidents of bullying mostly bc if anyone did try, 42 would put a stop to that nonsense immediately. 42 loves his bro with his whole heart and was glad to pick a fight with anyone who gave him any trouble at all. the whole neighborhood knew it too bc the only person allowed to bully 1610 is 42 himself!
☆ in fact, 42 doesn't win the lottery to enter visions in the first place, which saddened both brothers when they found out. so because they're at separate schools now, 42 makes sure his twin knows that if any fuckery is afoot at visions that he'd be more than happy to roll up and dogwalk any fool who tries it. 1610 laughs him off but knows his bro has got his back for sure
☆ 42 likes to pretend 1610 is the nerdy one, but they are both very big anime and manga nerds. every time they hit up any bookstore, they both make a beeline for the manga section and argue over who's gonna read the newest one first (they have to share cuz those books cost some moneeyyyy, man)
☆ 1610 and 42 love their uncle to pieces, OFC. they both pick up separate traits from him, even. 42 was inspired to start martial arts and boxing from watching videos on old digital cameras that aaron hung onto thru the years. they were of a much younger aaron back in his boxing days, when his family went to his matches and recorded them from the seats. 1610 was inspired to pick up graffiti and then even started doodling in notebooks bc of aaron
☆ 1610 is def the social butterfly and easily the most popular kid on the block by virtue of how friendly and outgoing he is. 42 is more introverted and keeps a small circle of friends, but everyone is cool with him nonetheless since they fuck with his twin bro
☆ since 42 stays at home the most (lol he a homebody) he picks up cooking much better than 1610 thanks to him staying in the kitchen to help his mom make dinner while they watch telenovelas together. 42 also knows how to dance bachata and salsa much better than 1610 too
☆ both twins love physics and math but 42 is more hardware-inclined. 1610 is about software, data, and formulas. 42 is good at taking things apart, putting things together, building and engineering. he kinda takes after his uncle aaron that way, and drove his parents nuts as a lil kid when he got his hands on radios, computers, clocks, etc
☆ 1610 loves softer brighter music like JID, steve lacy, smino, frank ocean, kid cudi, post malone, and nujabes. 42 is always bumping harder shit like pop smoke, waka flocka, zillakami, three 6 mafia, benny the butcher and some oldies like paul wall, wu tang clan, biggie smalls, MF DOOM and big KRIT. they tease each other's music tastes a lot since they're polar opposites in almost every way
☆ they actually have a shared playlist where they add new music they like (probs on some e-1610 spotify or soundcloud equivalent since everything is slightly skewed on e-1610 tbh). both of them check it periodically, and 42 is the more frequent contributor
☆ they both make art but 1610 is the artsier kid for sure. 42 doodles occasionally but he's not as enthusiastic about it as his twin is. they both go around the city tagging walls whenever they have any free time, though. 1610 loves colors, expressive styles and is good at coming up with cool ways to draw text. 42's lines, accuracy and technical skill can never be beat
☆ 1610 has superpowers, sure, but his fighting skills are trash! 42 was always the scrappy one, not 1610, so he shows his twin how to properly throw punches and other useful fighting knowledge. it def comes in handy in the future
☆ jeff loves his sons to death but he often finds himself butting heads the most with 42 since they're so similar, it kinda drives them both nuts. it def gets worse once aaron starts gossiping abt what jeff used to be like when they were kids, giving 42 plenty of ammo. they love each other but their relationship is just as complicated as it is between jeff and 1610, and 42 would be lying if he said he wasn't affected by the rift between his dad and uncle himself
☆ the minute the twins turn 16, 42 goes out and gets his drivers license on the first try (computer quiz AND road test aced) and rubs it in 1610's face almost constantly. 1610 likes to throw back that there's no parking space for another car on their block, so he can't even get his own car even if he wanted to anyways
☆ whenever the boys really fight, the whole city seems to know. they squabble a lot obvi, they're brothers. but the very few times they've given each other the silent treatment like for real, everyone in the family tries to get them to make up since it's unsettling to see two peas in a pod be so hostile with each other
☆ and since they've always been attached at the hip, 1610 being enrolled into visions felt. weird. everyone thought 1610 was gonna take it the hardest but surprisingly 42 had a harder time adjusting since he always saw his bro in the hallways at school, and was so used to him knowing the latest gossip of anybody in their grade. without 1610 around as often, 42 becomes even more withdrawn than usual
rio looks up from the pot suddenly, glancing at the time. dinner was almost ready and she… hadn't seen not hide nor tail of her son this evening. he returned home from school a couple hours earlier, choosing to skip going to his boxing class to shut himself in his room.
fine. teenagers can be moody sometimes and rio would rather keep her moody son at home where she can keep an eye on him, rather than worry about what he's getting up to on the streets.
strange thing is, though... rio hadn't heard a single noise come out of that room all night. 42 usually liked to have at least some music playing, maybe video game noises out of his nintendo... oh, what was it called again? whatever, that nintendo thing he played on sometimes.
rio placed the lid on the pot and lowered the flame a bit before making her way over to her twin sons' bedroom door, hesitating a bit when she noticed no light was filtering out from the bottom either. okay... that was weird, too. neither of her sons ever went to bed before dinner. ever.
the one time rio dared to try and send her sons to bed without dinner years ago-- as punishment for fighting right there in the kitchen that time-- both twins hollered so loud they got concerned knocks on their front door from various different neighbors. never again, rio remembered thinking that time.
now, the bedroom door stands oddly quiet and completely hollow without any signs of life behind it. rio knocked anyways, hoping against hope itself that 42 didn't go ahead and sneak out of the house without her knowledge. if he did sneak out, he's grounded for 3 months, rio thinks to herself mostly as reassurance. she nervously picks at a nail and strains to hear anything behind the wood.
she thinks she hears a groan and decides to try her luck by slowly opening the door. hopefully he's not in there... y'know, doing teenage boy things, either. dios mío.
rio swings the door open to...
...a completely pitch-black room, save for the sliver of streetlight filtering in past a crack in the window curtains and casting an eerie yellow glow on anything it could touch. it is cold, and also deathly quiet.
rio is shocked.
she walks over to the right side of the room where 42's bed is pushed up against the corner, next to the windows. on that bed lies a big lump, buried under several layers of blankets. the lump stirs.
rio crosses her arms. "mijo, mi amor. are you sleeping? …pero qué te pasa, papí?"¹
42 rolls onto his back and glares sleepily at his concerned mother standing at his bedside. it's dark in the room, but rio's face is illuminated by the living room lights pouring in from the open door. she's wearing a tilted smile, but coupled with the worry lines on her forehead, it isn't fooling anyone.
42 slowly closes his eyes, chin still under the covers, and lets out the most world-weary sigh rio has ever heard coming out of someone as young as him. if it weren't coming from her own son, she might have even laughed.
she immediately sits down, lifting the cover off of 42's chin to check his temperature all over his face. he tries to wriggle away.
"maaaaaa, stop..." he grumbles, trying to pull the covers up higher over his head. "'m not sick, mamí, forreal… chill."
rio leans on a hand. "¿si no 'ta enfermó pues qué es?² what's wrong?"
42 doesn't answer for a bit and rio exhales through her nose. " 'moré, what are you doing in this pitch-black room all by yourself? no light, no music, no nothing. what's wrong? you look like you're on a death bed!"
42 finally opens his eyes again, and blinks a few times as he says, "nothing, ma. seriously, i'm just... tired. that's all. i'm fine."
"you don't look 'fine' 42, you look like 2 seconds away from flatlining."
another sigh from the boy. rio rolls her eyes and places her hand on his forehead again, then strokes his cheek.
"is it 1610? hmm?" rio asks 42. she asks so unbelievably gently, as if by only mentioning his brother's name she would shatter something in the room. a mirror or something.
42's heart clenches at the love and care his mother is showing around this particular topic. it was true, and he couldn't even deny it. having 1610 in the house less and less every week, not seeing him in the hallways at their local high school, receiving sparser and shorter replies to his texts... it was all building up in his chest and the dam was pretty close to bursting. especially now as his mom was lovingly stroking his cheek as she checked in with him. how embarassing. rio wouldn't see him cry, not right now. he closed his eyes and willed the tears away, for her sake.
miraculously, 42's voice didn't crack or waver when he said, "yeah. yeah, i miss 'im."
rio crooned something saccharine in spanish and placed a kiss on her son's forehead. she saw right through his cold tough guy act, as expected. with how much of a mama's boy 42 was, it would've been impossible not to. they spent way too much time together for her to miss how he dragged his feet getting ready for school in the mornings, how he's been skipping martial arts and basketball practice more often lately, and how unenthusiastic he's been in general.
rio chuckles as she lays her cheek on 42's forehead for a second before sitting back up. "ay, bendito. 42, you know your brother is just down a few blocks from here. why don't you go visit him soon?"
42 shuffles under the covers. he's unsure if he should even admit this, but he proceeds anyways. "uhm. he's not answering my texts lately, so." he feels strangely guilty about this, like he just snitched on his twin somehow even though he has no reason to suspect that at all.
rio sighs and looks off into the distance, bracing herself for what she's about to say. she looks back down. "yeah. i know. he doesn't answer mine, either. i was hoping he was talking to you, but... well. "
something in 42 stirs a bit. "i bet he thinks he's in some fancy private school, around rich kids, now he's too good for us," it's a weak attempt at a joke, but rio smiles down at him anyways.
"don't worry. the second he gets home this weekend, he's on house arrest. okay? he's gonna be chained to you the whoooole time. and i'm keepin' watch."
it's not much, but 42 still takes that little bit of hope and holds it gently in his mind.
"the second he walks through that door, i'm tackling him. i don't care." 42 smiles at the thought.
rio laughs, kisses his forehead again and stands up. "dinner is almost ready, by the way." she gives him a look. "you better eat with me tonight, because your brother is at school and your dad is doing overtime tonight. okay? okay."
42 sighs deeply to wake himself up a bit more as he sits up and scratches at his durag. "yeah, yeah. 'm comin', ma!"
¹ "but what is going on with you, papí?" (papí being a common term of affection for a boy in spanish, it doesn't always mean "dad" lol)
² "if you're not sick, then what is it?"
☆ until they get "too old" for halloween, the morales twins ALWAYS wear matching costumes. every year. every single year, no matter what. what they usually end up wearing changes every year and they aaaaaalways argue over it, of course. notable costumes so far: batman and superman (age 13), two ninja turtles (age 9) (im thinking mikey and donatello bc of personality but lbr rio most likely forbade either of them to be leonardo bc the twins would deadass get into a fist fight over it), tom and jerry (age 2), mario and luigi (age 7), woody and buzz (age 5), peter pan and captain hook (age 10), and-- rio's favorite-- thing 1 and thing 2 (age 4)
☆ 42 was surprisingly always very popular with the girls at school. in middle school, 1610 was the geeky one with braces and acne. 42 got off relatively easy in that regard and as a result was labeled "a heartbreaker" from the jump, which annoyed him. he has no interest in dating whatsoever and swore to never get into a relationship before graduating high school. he's got his mom and brother to take care of and he's going places after high school, damnit! 1610 on the other hand is a huge romantic and has a crush on a new person almost every year of school, easily
☆ the literal second 1610 set foot in the house after his spider bite, 42 was all over him asking a million questions since they both have that supernatural twintuition, and 42 sussed him out immediately. 1610 obviously had to come clean and tell his brother he was spiderman just like he told ganke, otherwise he was never gonna be able to change into his spider suit at home (plus they share a room, so. there's that)
1610 didn't even get to close their bedroom door all the way before his twin leaped up from his own bed and stalked over.
"óye, bro. what's up? what happened at visions?" 42 circled his brother, squinty-eyed in the exact same way their mom is when she's suspicious. 1610 dropped his bag next to his bed and plopped down on his sheets, trying to put some distance between them.
"uhhhh what're you talkin' about?" he tries casually, and immediately regrets it.
"uhhhhh what're you talkin' about?" 42 mocks. "don't play dumb with me. you KNOW what i'm talkin' about, stupid. first, you answer, like, none of my texts ever. then dad comes home sayin' you never let him talk face-to-face when he visited you a couple days ago. mamí has been texting and calling you nonstop, no answer either. you are a brand new person now, huh? qué te pasa, yo?"
1610 hunched his shoulders as he got up and slumped over to his desk. he was quietly weighing his options, nervously rearranging papers and sketches on the wooden table, wondering how he was going to break it to his brother that he was--
"lemme guess. you have superpowers now," 42 says easily. he crosses his arms triumphantly when big round amber eyes suddenly turn up to his face.
1610 searches his face for any hint of a joke. no... no way. did his brother just...?
"you're playin' with me. no way. how did you--?"
42's eyes widen. "wait, are you being deadass right now?" he threw his head back and crowed with laughter. "that was just a guess!"
1610 leaped forward and pushed his hand onto 42's mouth, shutting him up. "heeyyy hey hey hey hey shhhhh, man. damn, could you possibly be any louder? look," he took his twin by the shoulders and gave him a slight shake, lowering his voice to a near whisper. "mom and dad can never know anything about this. okay? anything. not a word, you understand?"
42 pushes his brother off. "ok-ay man, cool it. i promise. we can shake on it, even."
wordlessly, they did their super secret handshake they came up with and perfected in the 4th grade in lieu of hooking their pinkies together. it was the morales shake, a move that binds them to secrecy and keeping promises til death. this was serious business. 1610 relaxes a bit once they're done.
"... okay. and i mean it, pencil braids. if you even breathe a word about this, or even think about--!"
"if you don't just tell me already, goddamn."
with a meaningful look thrown at his brother's way, 1610 raises an arm silently. 42 looks back expectantly.
1610 shoots a web up. he jumps up, using the web as a bungee rope to help him flip and land feet-first onto the ceiling. once his sneakers touch their ceiling, he stands up... upside-down. he stares at his brother and his brother stares back, mouth agape.
"niiiiiiice," 42 leans back and grins up at his twin brother, spiderman.
☆ 1610 is glad he has someone besides ganke to talk to about spiderman stuff, though. his brother listens way more attentively than his roommate anyways, and even tries to help sometimes esp when 1610 needs a quick distraction so he can switch from spiderman back into his regular clothes before the parents notice
☆ 42 is surprisingly cool abt his twin bro being spiderman, actually. even when they're texting 42 is careful not to imply 1610 is spiderman, and often calls stuff in to the police station if 1610 webs anyone up and lets him know. he also gets very good at bandaging up wounds quickly
☆ 42 is a hardass on the outside and contains his emotions much better than his twin, but he's kinda different around his family, since he loves them a lot. he jokes around a lot with them, esp around 1610. they also love pranking their parents, and are p creative at coming up with ways to make everyone laugh
☆ i personally picture 42's personality being sort of like huey's from the boondocks, especially around other adults. he becomes withdrawn and speaks very clearly and directly, and is very shy around strangers. some ppl mistake that as him having an attitude problem but his friends and family know better. only difference between huey and 42 is that 42 isn't nearly as woke lmfao
☆ meanwhile, 1610 becomes a motormouth around strangers and is quick to hug and kiss random family members at family reunions. as a lil kid, he'd always be the one up at the counter ordering for the both of them and chatting with the cashiers, or bus drivers, or whoever. as he gets older and used to the spiderman thing, he chats and jokes with randoms a lil less. he has to save the good material for when the mask is on
☆ 42 is a better writer than he is an artist, actually. he has notebooks filled with poetry and lyrics he scribbles down on post-it notes just to stick them in there for safekeeping. he's also been working on a sci-fi story since he was in 6th grade in absolute secrecy; he doesn't want a single soul to see it. he'd be mortified if anyone saw the nerdy shit he comes up with
☆ even tho 1610 has never fought anyone or been scrappy with anyone else, he's very good at wrestling and dodging punches thanks to his brother.
☆ 42 is the more fashion-inclined twin, even tho they're both sneakerheads. 42 just pays more attention to accessories, the fit of his clothing, how to pair the right shoes with the right jacket. 1610 throws on anything comfortable and calls it a day, and it gets even worse after he becomes spiderman. 42 clowns his brother SO HARD after he finds him wearing yellow sweatpants with an oversized red adidas hoodie and a green puffer jacket once (it was when 1610 came home from fighting a shapeshifting lizard that tried to take over cypress hills. the sweatpants were on backwards)
☆ 1610's sense of humor is geeky and he always tries too hard with his quips and jokes. he usually gets "secondhand embarrassment" chuckles from ppl. 42's style of comedy is a mix of dry humor and unintentionally being funny. this dude will say something clever with the straightest face ever and have the ENTIRE room in stitches without even meaning to
☆ just to nail home how different they are, even tho they share a room, you can tell EXACTLY which half of their room begins and ends. 1610's half is cluttered, vibrant, covered in posters and action figures, collages and trinkets on every available surface. 42's is as clean as a hospital room, and he ALWAYS makes his bed every morning. 42 has a poster or 2 hung up but he's not much for decorating in general. he's more into alphabetizing his bookshelf and looking for more efficient storage to put under his bed
☆ when jeff looks at his sons, he sees aaron and himself and sometimes it scares him. when the boys were around 12 (the Evil Year) he made SURE to sign them up for camp trips that summer and keep them close together as much as possible. he hates to see his boys drift apart at all and is the 1st one to call it out if he sees it. he just doesn't want his boys to end up like he and his brother did…
☆ … and then other times? it genuinely makes him feel a combination of irritation and also fondness bc sometimes 1610 and 42 really really remind him of aaron and himself, esp when they were young. ESPECIALLY when they argue. in every playful slap on the shoulder, every arbitrary competition started out of nowhere, every sleepy brother slowly sliding onto the other's shoulder during nighttime car rides, he sees it. he sees them, and then he sees his past. and with every little difference between the boys slowly cracking open like a chasm with each passing day, sometimes he thinks he can even see his future.
☆ 42 is cool or whatever but i also hc he's kinda… weird sometimes. it gets worse when his twin bro goes off to visions, he keeps staring at walls while sitting in dark rooms and eating at weird hours of the day. rio caught him fast asleep practically hanging off the window sill one night, and another time jeff found him having an entire conversation with a brick wall once while on patrol. 42 refuses to answer any questions
☆ after 1610 gets into visions, becomes spiderman, tells his parents abt his plans to go to princeton, etc... 42 eventually starts feeling a type of way (a jealous way…) their parents also seem to pay attention to 1610 more whenever he's home just to add insult to injury. he knows he's not supposed to, but he often finds himself thinking about the prowler gloves and schematics aaron left behind. he managed to grab them and hide them in a gym bag one day while helping his parents clear out aaron's apartment. the tech currently lives under his bed…

soyeon didn’t remember when she fell in love with you. not the exact moment, at least.
in the months that followed, the group flourished with the addition of your unique talents. soyeon's initial intuition proved right—your voice blended seamlessly with the others, and your presence brought a new dimension to their performances. it not only transformed the group, but the company as well.
it also transformed the way soyeon looked at you.
wise men say
“unnie?”
the leader’s head whipped around at the sound. she had been too engrossed in her work to even register that you had entered the recording studio. her dyed blonde hair was in a loose low bun, with a few strands slipping in front of her face.
there were those soft irises again.
“it’s late,” you said, a gentle smile gracing your lips as you approached her. the dim light in the studio accentuated the determination in soyeon's eyes, and you couldn't help but admire her unwavering focus. she was always so ambitious. it was something you admired since day one.
“i thought you might need a break,” you continued, holding out a small bag with a few snacks from the convenience store down the street.
soyeon's eyes widened in pleasant surprise, and she couldn't hide the flicker of gratitude that passed through her gaze. “you didn't have to,” she replied, a hint of a smile playing on her lips.
“i know,” you chuckled softly before setting the plastic bag down on the desk. “but i thought it might help. you've been at this for hours.” your hands clasped together in front of you before you gave her a small smile.
the leader motioned for you to take a seat next to her, and you gladly obliged, settling into the chair with a comfortable sigh. the ambient hum of the recording equipment and the soft glow of the studio monitors created an atmosphere of both creativity and tranquility.
as soyeon reached into the bag, her fingers brushing against the assorted snacks, she couldn't help but appreciate the thoughtful gesture. “you’d think cube would help us out with things like this,” she remarked, a small smile forming on her face.
“they don’t care about the music,” you replied softly, eyes scanning the monitors in front of you. “they just care about the money.”
soyeon chuckled, her eyes meeting yours. “someone has to keep the lights on.” you glanced at her and mirrored the smile on her lips for a moment before returning your gaze to the screens.
“point proven.”
the two of you fell into a companionable silence, the only sounds being the occasional rustling of snack wrappers.
after a few minutes, she finally spoke up again.
“you know,” she paused to swallow a bite of a tangerine. “you’re way quieter than your cousin.”
a giggle escaped your lips, knowing very well how loud and rowdy yuqi could get.
“well, someone has to balance out the decibel levels in the group,” you quipped, earning another chuckle from the older girl. you may not be as loud, but you sure were just as witty as yuqi.
“it’s good to have a mix of energies,” soyeon mused, reaching for another snack. “keeps things interesting.”
“that it does,” you agreed, your eyes flickering to the monitors. the mesmerizing visuals of the recording software danced across the screens, reflecting the creative energy that permeated the studio.
“is this the new track?” you asked softly, motioning to the monitors and the different tabs open on your leader’s desktop computer.
soyeon leaned back in her chair, a contemplative expression on her face. “it’s supposed to be,” she mused as she tossed a wrapper into the nearby trash can. “but i don’t think it’s good enough.” “anything you make is good enough,” you answered with furrowed brows, leaning your head to lay in your palm. “even if it takes a bit, you always figure it out.”
after a few moments, you rose from your seat with a gentle smile. “i’ll let you get back to it.”
the leader’s gaze remained on your side profile for a few movements while you adjusted your jacket. maybe it was the late night ambience. or maybe it was the mood in the room.
but she couldn’t help but feel like she wanted to hear your words and stare at you for a bit longer.
“y/n,” soyeon called out just as you were about to leave, her voice holding a hint of vulnerability. you turned back to face her, eyebrows raised in curiosity and gentle irises focused on her face.
“stay a bit longer, if you don't mind,” she said, her gaze sincere. “i could use a fresh perspective.”
a warm smile crossed your face, and you returned to your seat without hesitation.
only fools rush in
you and soyeon made it your thing to work on title tracks together. it gave soyeon a better perspective and a new producing skill for you. there were ups and downs with each track, but for the most part the two of you worked very well together.
the only time you two were separate was when you’d go back to the dorm to shower or sleep. you roomed with your cousin and soyeon roomed with miyeon, while minnie, shuhua, and soojin shared a different room.
naturally, yuqi would tease you about your close friendship with your leader.
“is that soyeon unnie’s?” your cousin raised an eyebrow at you, inspecting the sleeve of your jacket the moment you walked into the door.
“i grabbed hers by accident when we left,” you playfully pushed her arm and rolled your eyes, slipping your shoes off at the doorway. “we were in a hurry to get out of there before it started raining.”
the dorm room was adorned with a cozy chaos of personal touches—a mix of vibrant posters, scattered makeup products, and the occasional piece of forgotten sheet music. the soft glow of fairy lights hung delicately around the room, casting a warm ambiance that contrasted with the cool exterior of the teasing rain.
yuqi, comfortably perched on her bed adorned with an eclectic collection of plush toys, observed the interaction with a grin that hinted at mischief. the room echoed with the lighthearted banter that often filled the air when the members gathered after a day of rehearsals and recordings.
“hurry to escape the rain, huh? how romantic,” yuqi teased, her eyes sparkling with amusement.
your cousin shot her a look, shaking your head. "it's not romantic. it's just practical. i don't want to catch a cold, and neither does soyeon unnie."
"practical, sure," your cousin echoed, drawing out the word as she wiggled her eyebrows in a teasing manner. “in a romance novel, that would be considered a meet-cute.”
you couldn't help but chuckle at her theatrical flair. as you settled into the room, the lingering scent of scented candles and the faint hum of music playing from yuqi’s small speaker added to the ambiance.
“so, spill the details,” the taller girl continued, leaning forward with a conspiratorial air. “did your hands accidentally touch when you reached for your jackets? did time slow down, and did you feel the spark of destiny in that moment?”
rolling your eyes, you tossed the jacket onto your bed on your side of the room. “you watch too many dramas. it was a simple jacket mix-up, nothing more.”
the next morning you decided to bring the jacket to your leader, freshly washed and cleaned for her. you tucked it into your small backpack and headed out, a small smile on your face.
until you were met with the downpour of the morning rain, without your own jacket.
a string of curses escaped from your mouth as you ran as fast as you could to the company, not wanting to use soyeon’s jacket and get it soaking wet.
by the time you reached the company, you were drenched from head to toe. the rain had mercilessly worked its way through your clothes, leaving you shivering in the chilly morning air. sighing, you shook off the excess water from your hair and clothes before making your way to the practice room where soyeon was likely immersed in her work.
as you entered the room, you found her hunched over a keyboard, engrossed in composing a melody. the soft hum of the rain against the windows provided a serene backdrop to the scene.
“soyeon unnie,” you called out, your voice a bit sheepish.
the mentioned leader looked up, her eyes widening at the sight of you dripping wet. “what happened?” she asked as she immediately rose from her chair with a light laugh.
“rain decided to be my personal shower this morning,” you replied with a wry smile. “and i brought your jacket back, but i didn't want to use it and get it wet again.” you added as you rubbed the back of your neck sheepishly.
soyeon's gaze softened as she took in your soaked appearance. without a word, she stood up and walked over to you. her fingers brushed against your arm, feeling the dampness of your clothes.
“you're freezing,” she said, concern lacing her words.
“i'll survive,” you shrugged, trying to downplay the discomfort. (your socks felt like puddles in your shoes).
but the smaller girl wasn't convinced in the slightest. without hesitation, she pulled off the oversized sweater she had been wearing. “here, take those off and at least wear this while your clothes dry.” soyeon insisted as she handed it to you.
a small blush appeared on your cheeks as you slowly grasped the hem of your shirt, only to turn and look at your leader. “um, could you…turn around, unnie?”
a soft chuckle escaped her lips, and she turned around, giving you the privacy you asked for. as you swiftly changed into soyeon's sweater, the warmth and scent enveloped you, creating an intimate connection between you and the fabric. the softness of the material and the lingering warmth from soyeon's body brought an unexpected comfort, mixed in with the lingering scent of her perfume.
“okay,” you announced, feeling a mixture of embarrassment and gratitude as you tugged the sweater into place. “you can turn around now.”
soyeon turned back, her gaze momentarily fixed on you. the sight of you wearing her oversized sweater, with wet hair clinging to your forehead and a flushed face, stirred something in her.
she couldn't quite pinpoint the emotion, but it was a curious blend of affection and something else.
“better?” the leader asked, her voice a touch softer than before. you nodded, the corners of your lips turning up into a grateful smile. “much better. thank you, soyeon unnie.”
oh, but i, but i, i can't help falling in love with you
ever since that day, soyeon started noticing her fixation with you.
from the way you laughed, the microexpressions on your face, and every one of your unconscious habits seemed to capture her attention in a way she didn’t notice like before.
on top of that, you two were hanging out a lot more, especially with the album deadlines so soon. soyeon didn’t know how to make a move either. the comeback was so soon, and the group was busier than ever.
as much as she wanted to see if you felt the same way, she knew that right now made it difficult to do so.
or so she thought.
it was 1 in the morning and you were still stuck recording your lines for the song “lion.” you ran a hand down your face as you watched soyeon give you the hand signal that meant for you to exit the booth.
you plopped down on the chair next to hers, swiveling side to side as you watched her editing the backtrack and with your vocals.
soyeon's fingers danced across the editing software, fine-tuning every nuance of the song. the glow of the computer screen illuminated her focused expression. you couldn't help but be mesmerized by the way her mind worked, the dedication etched into her every move.
finally satisfied with the adjustments, soyeon turned her chair to face you, eyes meeting your soft irises in the dim light. you were still wearing her sweater that you borrowed weeks ago.
she couldn’t deny the idea of you wearing all of her clothes made her heart flutter.
“you’re the best thing to happen to this team, y/n.”
without breaking eye contact, soyeon reached out, her fingers lightly brushing against yours. the touch was soft, an almost imperceptible caress that sent a shiver down your spine. a subtle smile played on her lips as she pulled your chair closer to hers, narrowing the distance between you.
the glow of the computer screen reflected in soyeon's eyes, intensifying the intimacy of the moment. in the quiet ambiance of the studio, the air seemed to thicken with shared emotions. you found yourself captivated by the vulnerability in soyeon's gaze, a vulnerability mirrored in your own.
as the chair drew nearer, the proximity between you and soyeon became palpable. you could feel the warmth radiating from her, a comforting presence that transcended the late-night recording session. the scent of her sweater enveloped you, creating an aura of familiarity and closeness.
soyeon's fingers lingered on the armrest, ignoring the way her heart was beating outside of her chest. there were no words exchanged between you, and in that moment, the boundaries between you two blurred.
it felt like the natural progression of a melody finding its perfect harmony.
your leader’s eyes never left your lips as she leaned in, with only a goal in mind that involved the only girl she’d ever fallen for. the room seemed to fade away, leaving only the two of you in the soft glow of the studio lights.
and in that quiet, intimate space, your lips met.
the kiss was slow and soft, gentle enough to give you room to push away. but you never did.
shall i stay?
you couldn’t get the kiss out of your head. you and soyeon hadn’t spoken since it happened.
truth be told, soyeon was terrified of what she had done. she, as your leader, should not have done that.
as days passed, you sensed soyeon's unease, a palpable tension that mirrored your own. it wasn't until you found yourselves alone in the practice room, the muted sounds of the city seeping through the windows, that the unspoken tension surfaced.
the other members had left over an hour ago, leaving the two of you to finish practicing the songs for your solo stages. however, the both of you hadn’t spoken a single word to each other.
soyeon's fingers fidgeted with the hem of her shirt, a telltale sign of the unease within her. the air between you crackled with unspoken words, and as your eyes met, it was clear that the time had come to address the uncharted territory.
“y/n,” she began hesitantly, her voice barely above a whisper. “i shouldn't have kissed you. i'm your leader. it's just not right.”
her admission hung in the air, a heavy weight that seemed to intensify the unease in the moment. the vulnerability in her eyes mirrored the apprehension within her. the fear of jeopardizing the harmony within the group, the potential for misunderstandings, and the consequences of crossing the boundaries within a professional setting weighed heavily on her.
she mentally cursed herself for allowing herself to cross the professional boundary.
you took a step closer, your eyes locked with hers. “we can't just pretend it didn't happen. and maybe it's not as wrong as you think. besides,” your inner cheek was bitten as your eyes remained on the wooden floor beneath you.
“i really like you.”
soyeon's gaze flickered between uncertainty and longing. “but what if it goes wrong? what if it affects the group dynamics?”
you reached out, gently taking her hand in yours. “we won't know until we try. and if it gets complicated, we'll navigate it together. we owe it to ourselves to see what this could be.”
a mixture of fear and hope flashed across soyeon's eyes. the weight on her shoulders seemed to lift, if only slightly, as she processed your words. the prospect of dating within the group was daunting, but your reassurance offered a glimmer of courage.
"y/n, i'm scared," she admitted, her vulnerability laid bare.
would it be a sin?
“i am too," you confessed, squeezing her hand. "but i believe in us. we can make this work if we're willing to try.”
soyeon's eyes softened, the apprehension slowly giving way to a flicker of hope. as you pulled her closer, her smaler frame settled comfortably against yours, the warmth of her presence enveloping you both. the air in the practice room seemed to change, charged with a newfound understanding and shared vulnerability.
your lips brushed against soyeon's forehead, a tender gesture that spoke volumes. it was an unspoken agreement lingering in the air as you both leaned into the moment, seeking solace in the confusion of your situation. her fingers found their way to the nape of your neck, a gentle touch that sent shivers down your spine.
in the glow of the practice room lights, the world outside seemed to vanish.
the only reality that mattered was the one unfolding between you and soyeon.
it didn’t take long until your lips met again, this time in a much more desperate kiss. soyeon's hands traced the contours of your face, her touch both gentle and possessive.
as the kiss deepened, you ended up sliding your hands underneath her baggy shirt, your fingers tracing the warm skin of her back. the boundaries that once held you both back became blurred, lost in the haze of shared emotions.
soyeon's breath hitched as your hands explored the canvas of her body, and she reciprocated with a fervor that included her fingers slowly grasping around your throat.
needless to say, yuqi (and the others) found out about what happened only when she was recording her lines for “oh my god.”
(“WHAT DO YOU MEAN THIS IS ABOUT Y/N?”)
if i can't help falling in love with you
the two of you kept your relationship hidden for years. but through it all, you two had each other. everything from soojin’s departure from the group to the eventual disbandment couldn’t pull you two apart.
and that meant everything to soyeon. you meant everything to soyeon.
in the year following g-idle’s disbandment, your relationship became public.
the revelation of your love was met with a mix of surprise and support from fans and colleagues alike. the news, however, didn't alter the profound connection you and soyeon shared. if anything, it strengthened your bond, allowing you both to navigate the challenges of newfound visibility together.
one weekend, you decided to escape seoul and spent a quiet week exploring new york together. from the iconic skyline to the serene parks, every moment was spent enjoying each other and the city.
as the last day of the week wound down, the two of you found yourselves back at the hotel, lying in bed and relishing the serenity that followed a day of exploration. the soft glow of the nighttime city lights streamed through the window, casting a cool ambiance over the room.
wrapped in the comfort of each other's presence, soyeon traced patterns on your arm with her fingertips. the city's rhythm hummed outside, a gentle backdrop to the intimacy you both cherished.
it had been quiet for a few minutes until your girlfriend decided to say something.
soyeon shifted to her side, propping herself up on her elbow to gaze at you. the tenderness in her eyes spoke volumes, echoing the unspoken promise that had woven your lives together.
“baby,” she began, her voice a gentle murmur, “i've spent years by your side, through every high and low. you've been my anchor, my confidant, and the love of my life.”
your heart fluttered at her words, anticipation building as she continued to express the depth of her feelings. soyeon's hand found yours, fingers intertwining in a silent pledge of devotion.
“i can't imagine my life without you,” she confessed, her eyes never leaving yours. “and i don't want to.”
the air seemed to hum with a quiet energy as her gaze held yours, the weight of words hanging in the space between you two. in that moment, like every moment with her, the world outside faded away, leaving only the two of you.
with a heartfelt sincerity, soyeon whispered, “song y/n, let’s get married.”
like a river flows
surely to the sea
the question lingered in the air, a testament to the journey you had embarked on together. the city's midnight heartbeat outside the window echoed the rhythm of your own as you processed the magnitude of the moment, the proposal marking a new chapter in the story that was uniquely yours.
“are you serious?” you whispered, disbelief in your soft eyes. soyeon's eyes held a mixture of vulnerability and sincerity as she nodded, her gaze never wavering from yours. “absolutely serious,” she affirmed, a soft smile playing on her lips. the weight of the question hung in the air, waiting for your response.
the room seemed to hold its breath as you processed the enormity of the moment. in the quiet intimacy of the hotel room, surrounded by the distant hum of the city, you felt a rush of emotions. memories of the years you spent together flooded your mind, painting a vivid picture of your shared journey.
as your eyes met your girlfriend’s, you could see the depth of her commitment, the unwavering certainty in her gaze. the love that had grown silently, resiliently, and now stood before you, asking for a promise that transcended the uncharted future.
a slow smile curved on your lips, and you felt warmth spreading through your chest. “well then,” you whispered, your voice a tender acknowledgment. “let’s get married.”
soyeon's eyes lit up with a mix of joy and relief, and the world outside seemed to respond to the shared happiness within the room. the city lights twinkled, casting a magical glow on the moment.
without hesitation, the older girl leaned in, capturing your lips in a sweet and tender kiss. the room, the city, and the years that led to this point all faded into the background as you both savored the significance of the promise made.
“you’re going to be related to yuqi now,” you whispered, ignoring the way your fiance’s fingers danced along your exposed stomach. soyeon chuckled, her warm breath brushing against your skin as she continued tracing gentle patterns on your stomach.
“i can handle yuqi,” she replied, a playful glint in her eyes. “but i can't handle the thought of anyone else being the one beside you on that day.”
the playful banter was met with a soft laugh from you. “well, we might have to endure some teasing, but i'm sure she'll come around. besides, it'll be our day.”
soyeon propped herself up on her elbow, looking down at you with a tender expression. “our day,” she repeated, the words holding a profound significance. you gently reached up and brushed a few loose strands out of her face.
“our day.” you repeated with a smile.
darling, so it goes
some things, you know, are meant to be
your wedding was planned on the shores of hawaii in april of the next year, overlooking the turquoise waters as the gentle breeze carried the scent of cherry blossoms. the ceremony was adorned with hues of pastel pinks and whites, echoing the natural beauty of the island. close friends and family gathered, sharing the joy that radiated from the two brides.
the aisle was lined with petals, creating a delicate pathway for soyeon and you to walk hand in hand towards your shared future. the soft strains of a string quartet played a melody that seemed to harmonize with the beating hearts of everyone present.
shuhua begged to officiate, and after much reluctance from soyeon, she eventually agreed. your former youngest member smiled from ear to ear at the sight of you two holding hands underneath the arch.
“and now for the vows,” she announced, turning her attention to soyeon first. “soyeon, you will go first.”
soyeon’s eyes fell to the piece of paper in her hands, already fighting the urge to cry in front of you and everyone she cared about. “my y/n,” she started off with a small smile. “from the moment our paths crossed, i knew my life was about to change. i never expected our meeting could lead to where we are today.”
you did a good job of holding back your tears until she spoke the next line.
“y/n, you are the melody in the soundtrack of my life, and the rhythm that keeps my heart beating in sync with yours.”
soyeon chose to ignore the way you looked up to avoid your tears from spilling over, and continued reading for her own sake.
“i don’t know when i fell in love with you, but i remember everything leading up to it. i marveled at the way you saw the beauty in the simplest things. your laughter became the sound that chased away my doubts and fears. you taught me the language of patience and understanding, and in your presence, i found a home. and as we weathered storms, i discovered the depth of your resilience. there were moments when life threw challenges our way, but you stood by me with unwavering support.”
you gave her hand a gentle squeeze, a silent encouragement to keep going.
“today, as we stand here, surrounded by the love of those who matter most, i make these vows to you. i promise to cherish and celebrate you for all that you are and all that you will become. i promise to be your anchor in the storms, and to create a life filled with a love that continues to deepen with each passing day.”
the older girl blinked back the tears at the corners of her own eyes, fingers trembling slightly as she neared the end of her written vows.
“your tears will never be shed alone, for in sorrow and in joy, we are one. and as we walk hand in hand into this new chapter, i promise to choose you every day, to be your confidante, your partner, and your greatest supporter.
this ring on your finger is more than a symbol; it's a testament to the promises i make today and every day thereafter. song y/n, my love, i am endlessly grateful to call you my wife. i love you.”
when the shorter girl finally looked up, her chest tightened at the sight of your soft irises filled with tears.
soyeon's voice trembled with emotion as she concluded her vows, and she delicately wiped away the tears that escaped the corners of her eyes. the love between you two, palpable in the air, resonated with everyone present. soojin glanced at minnie and whispered, ignoring the yuqi who was nearly in shambles at the sight of her cousin getting married.
“five bucks yuqi loses it before they kiss.”
shuhua then turned her attention to you, a loving smile on her lips. “y/n, it's your turn.”
you took a deep breath, steadying the emotions that threatened to spill over. your gaze locked with soyeon's, a silent exchange of love and commitment that spoke volumes. with a soft smile, you began your vows.
“jeon soyeon, my leader and my lover. when we met, i wasn’t expecting to fall in love with you. but falling for you was the best thing to ever happen to me.”
at this point, yuqi, the maid of honor, was already silently sobbing against miyeon's shoulder.
“you’ve shown me how to stick up for myself, and how to believe in the things that i have faith in. in your eyes, i find my strength, and in your heart, i've found a home. i promise to be your safe harbor, your confidante, and your eternal partner.”
soyeon’s vision blurred as she listened to the words you spoke across from her.
“i know we’ve been through heaven and hell, and i know that we’ve got bad days ahead of us as well, but i promise you that our bad days won’t make me love you any less. i pledge to cherish and honor you, to respect and support you, and to keep our love burning bright until the end of time.” with a watery smile, you gently squeezed her hand again as you looked into the eyes of the only girl you had ever loved.
“this ring on my finger signifies not just our union, but a promise to choose you every day, and to stand by you in both sunshine and rain. jeon soyeon, my heart is forever yours, and i am beyond grateful to call you my wife.”
take my hand
take my whole life too
“jeon soyeon, do you take song y/n to be your lawfully wedded wife, to love and cherish, to support and honor, in sickness and in health, forsaking all others, for as long as you both shall live?” shuhua asked, her voice resonating with warmth and sincerity.
soyeon's eyes never wavered from yours. with a serene smile, she replied, “i do.”
shuhua then turned to you, her gaze filled with contagious joy. “and song y/n, do you take jeon soyeon to be your lawfully wedded wife, to love and cherish, to support and honor, in sickness and in health, forsaking all others, for as long as you both shall live?”
you couldn't help but return her smile, your heart brimming with love. “i do.”
for i can"t help falling in love with you
“by the power vested in me and the state of hawaii, i now pronounce you wife and wife.” shuha said with a grin, but before she could get to the next part, yuqi shouted hysterically.
“NOW KISS!”
and as you two laughed along with your family and friends, you pulled the smaller girl in as she cupped your face and kissed you. the cheers and applause from your loved ones surrounded you, creating a symphony of joy. it was a kiss filled with promises, sealing the love you vowed to share for a lifetime.
as the moment lingered, soyeon pulled away with a content smile, her eyes locking with yours. “i’m so glad i fell in love with you.” you whispered with a genuine smile on your face.
your wife only smiled back, brushing a few petals out of your hair before whispering back.
“i couldn’t help falling in love with you.”
for i can"t help falling in love with you

I think about making my own studio pretty much every spring because this is the part of the year that there's typically some kind of fuckup at the office that could be fixed with an accurate and concise system of recordkeeping and redundancies, and I know how I would restructure the system to prevent problems like that with a series of file trees.
BUT I WOULD NOT BE DOING SCHOOL PHOTOS if I owned my own studio. I would be focusing more on dance, fantasy, and lifestyle portraiture- all of which do not need to be kept diligently for 9 months and even if they DID there would not be quite so many moving parts.
It would be easier, in general, because I do not need to have class rosters, student numbers, permission slips, order forms, contacts for school attendance offices and admins, would not need to deal with patch updates for the data alignment software...
All of the frustrations of my job are related directly to the VOLUME of photography I am doing and the customer logistics.
But starting my own studio is its own problem! Finding a space to use that has high ceilings, secure storage, and fairly low rent is rather difficult. I would need a separate computer specifically for photography because mine is filling up fast. I'd need new strobes because mine are just constants. Backdrops. Props.
There is a lot of up-front cost for this and that's before we get into branding and promotion and the general upkeep of a business to get customers consistently. Like if you have a space like that, you have to keep it in use to maximize your dollar out of it and I wish you could just like... own a space and use it however.
Anyways.
Plans for a potential future.

5 Signs Your Dance Studio Needs Better Management Software
Running a dance studio is a rewarding experience, but managing all the moving parts can quickly become overwhelming. From class scheduling to payment processing, student communication, and attendance tracking, keeping everything organized is a challenge. If you're struggling with inefficiencies, it may be time to upgrade to a more effective Dance Studio Management Software.
Here are five clear signs that your current system isn't working and that better management software could transform your studio operations.
Tumblr media
You’re Struggling with Class Scheduling
Scheduling dance classes, private lessons, and workshops can be a logistical nightmare, especially if you're doing it manually or using outdated software. If you frequently deal with:
Double bookings or scheduling conflicts
Missed or forgotten class registrations
Difficulty updating schedules in real-time
Then, it's time to consider Dance Studio Management Software with automated scheduling features. A good system will allow students to register online, update class schedules instantly, and send automated reminders to both students and instructors.
Billing and Payments Are a Headache
Are you spending hours chasing down payments, manually sending invoices, or dealing with inconsistent cash flow? A lack of efficient payment processing can disrupt your business and frustrate students and parents.
Upgrading your Dance Studio Management Software can help by offering:
Automated invoicing and payment reminders
Online payment processing with multiple payment options
Recurring billing for memberships and class packages
With better software, you can streamline your finances and ensure steady revenue without the stress of manual tracking.
You’re Losing Track of Student Attendance and Progress
If attendance sheets are getting lost, student progress isn’t being monitored, or tracking absences is difficult, it's a major sign that your studio needs a digital upgrade.
A robust Dance Studio Management Software should include:
Digital attendance tracking
Performance and progress monitoring
Automated alerts for frequent absences
This makes it easier to keep students engaged, identify trends, and offer personalized feedback to help them improve.
Communication with Students and Parents is Inefficient
Do you find yourself constantly answering phone calls, responding to emails, or struggling to send out updates to students and parents? Communication is key in running a successful dance studio, but doing it manually can be time-consuming.
A better Dance Studio Management Software will allow you to:
Send automated emails and text messages
Notify students about schedule changes, payment due dates, or upcoming events
Maintain a centralized communication platform
With these features, you can reduce miscommunication, save time, and ensure everyone stays informed effortlessly.
You’re Spending Too Much Time on Administrative Tasks
If you're spending more time managing spreadsheets, updating records, and handling paperwork than actually focusing on teaching and growing your studio, it’s a major red flag.
Investing in Dance Studio Management Software can help by automating many of these tasks, allowing you to:
Generate reports on financials, attendance, and student progress
Manage staff schedules and payroll with ease
Focus more on student engagement and studio expansion
Final Thoughts
If any of these signs sound familiar, it's time to upgrade your Dance Studio Management Software. The right system will streamline operations, reduce stress, and give you more time to focus on what truly matters—helping your students grow and succeed in their dance journey.
Take advantage of free trials or demos to find the best solution for your studio. The right software can make all the difference in transforming how you manage your dance business.

The three perfect things this year to keep me living much much more.
Armored Core VI Fires of Rubicon - From Software
I have a soft spot for games where “you” start so low: a corpse, an addict cop fell from grace, a drained bounty hunter sent to a planet alone to get her soul eaten by somehow gentle parasites.
Armored Core 6 puts you in a body bag and promises to give you a meaning.
The game makes you feel in pain, both physically and mentally, yet you dance the fastest legs exquisitely, while the voices in your brain implants seem to notice you, to worry about you, to tell you you're an artist that can crave for even more.
You choose a how to see if you’re still here. And so, you fly high the miserable sky.
Tumblr media
The Boy and the Heron - Studio Ghibli
I’ve read a lot of words about The Boy and the Heron by this point, looking to praise it by finding hidden sources, mysterious meanings and cultural roots behind its attributed “unorthodox” narrative. But I doubt this given depth was THAT intentional.
Tumblr media
To me, this film might be the peak of Hayao Miyazaki’s philosophy for process and creation which is well known that doesn’t allow a glimpse of restraint. First and foremost, dealing with a canonical script.
A choice that brings freedom and obsession. A way to live, instead a way to create, to be the stories we tell ourselves. I strongly believe this is what the film exhales. Depth and meaning by making brilliant collaborators invested with the nurtured concepts in his brain. Depth and meaning by making us fall for the intense personality of such a hard work overall.
To grasp a gap in the system you have to be so bold. And I can't wait for what comes next.
A Guest in the House - Emily Carroll
As dear homie Sloane Leong says in her quote, a Guest in the House is a very sophisticated character study coded as a horror tale, with exquisite art, prose and pacing. 100% Emily’s trademark.
Personally, I still can't stop smiling at how it philosophically reads as an essay about evasion. On how skipping reality can be empowering and healing, and more than anything, romantic; even if, you know, it takes you to the grou… Please don't mind me.
Tumblr media
Hide from hideous, grasp a glimpse of justice, make the self you want to be, legit. Toxic. The knight or the ghost. In Emily’s safe HUB, the guts spill into refined erotic scenarios that make the average the most dreadful place to be.
Anyway. You don't do a book on this scale alone, to save the day. The accurate craft still feels like a scream. It's the kind of work that saves the medium by making creators unsafe. Please consider reading it and support it. Emily’s writing truly is precious.
She also did a beautiful Bloodborne short out of love this year. For the fans!

RICK'S POV
The February wind outside howled like a pack of wolves as flurries danced past the frosty windowpane. The tour was great, but it's nice to be back where everything is familiar. I was lost in my thoughts at my desk, a mug of now cold coffee sitting off to my right when Vin’s name flashed on my screen. Sitting at my computer desk in my bedroom studio, I was deeply focused on reviewing and editing some music video footage I had recently shot. Our band just released a new album, and I was brainstorming more creative ways to promote it through visually striking music videos. As both the lead guitarist and an aspiring filmmaker, I was eager to take a hands-on role in the video production process. My mind was racing with ideas - perhaps I could assist the director, or even take full creative control and direct the video myself. Fueled by my passion for both music and film, I became completely engrossed in piecing together rough cuts on my editing software, trying out different sequences and visual effects. Just as I was fine-tuning a particularly complex montage sequence, the ringing notification jolted me out of my deep concentration.
I pushed the green button on my phone, putting it on speaker so I could keep working on my computer while I talked. "Hello," I answered absentmindedly, my eyes still focused on the screen in front of me as I edited videos.
"Hey man," came Vin's cheery but muffled voice through the phone, the sounds of his chewing making it obvious he had food in his mouth. I knew he must be bored or feeling lonely since he never called just to chat otherwise.
I reached over to take a sip from my mug of now tepid coffee, grimacing at the lukewarm liquid that was no longer hot enough to be enjoyable. As Vin rambled on about his day so far, I found my focus divided between his meandering story and the editing work I was trying to finish up. His tone was aimless and wandering, confirming my suspicion that this call was just his way of combating boredom on a lazy afternoon. I made occasional noises of acknowledgement, letting him continue his monologue as background noise while I clicked and dragged video clips into place.
“Hey, so I got a call from Seth this morning. I guess he’s supposed to do a podcast with Chris tomorrow and called to confirm but the dude didn’t answer. I tried calling him and his phone is dead.”
I stopped working, turning in my seat to look at my phone with a furrowed brow. "You haven't heard from him lately have you?" Vin asked.
"No," I racked my brain for the last time I spoke to him and to be honest in our time off- all three weeks of it- I hadn't heard a peep from him. He'd been radio silent, social media silent, he was like a ghost. This was highly unusual for Chris, who was normally very active on social media and kept in frequent contact with friends. The fact that Seth had called looking to confirm a podcast recording and gotten no response was troubling. Chris wasn't the type to miss appointments or fail to return calls. A knot of worry began forming in my stomach as I thought back to our last conversation right before the break. Chris had seemed distracted and evasive, not his normal upbeat self.
As I gazed at the ominous clouds through the large window in my home office, I could see the flurries hadn’t yet started to stick to the ground. The sky was filled with menacing, steel-colored clouds that appeared swollen with moisture, ready to burst open and release their wintry payload at any moment. Though I was unsure just how much snow we'd be getting, the clouds foretold that it would be a significant amount - likely enough to disrupt travel plans and force people indoors.
Vin continued rambling excitedly through the phone about his successful streaming channel, oblivious to the weather outside. As he chattered on, I grabbed my heavy winter jacket from the closet and slipped it on over my hoodie to brace for the cold. I jammed my feet into sturdy boots and interrupted Vin mid-sentence to let him know I was headed over to check on Chris before the storm hit. Vin understood and we exchanged quick goodbyes before hanging up. I snatched my keys and wallet and headed out the front door into the freezing air, making sure to lock up behind me.
The apartment was eerily quiet as I unlocked the door, my voice echoing off the high ceilings as I called his name. No response. Where could he be? I scanned the living room to my left, noticing his expensive gaming system had been left untouched, neatly tucked into its designated space under the TV stand, the controllers precisely lined up next to it. My eyebrow raised in surprise - he never left his gaming system so tidy. The bright flashing lights and sounds of racing cars or epic battles were typically blaring at this hour as he lounged on the couch. His absence was odd. I wandered slowly through the open concept space - past the leather couch and recliner, both somehow free of his usual piles of laundry and takeout containers. The dining table was spotless, cleared of the stacks of mail and bills that normally covered it. I peeked into the kitchen expecting to see dishes piled up and counters covered in crumbs. But it was impossibly clean. The spotless marble gleamed under the lights, not a single dirty mug or plate left in the sink. The entire place felt sterile, like a model apartment ready for showing. Where was the comfortable clutter and busy energy that was usually present when he was home? Where were the signs of life? The apartment was untouched, everything perfectly in its place. Too perfect. Too quiet. Too still.
The takeout boxes from that vegan joint down the block are piling up in his trash. I open the fridge hoping to grab a snack, but it's practically barren - just a few protein shakes lining the door and not much else. The empty shelves and lack of fresh food signal that he hasn't been grocery shopping in a while. I gaze at the sparse contents, disappointed by the lack of options. Over the wind howling outside, I hear soft footsteps approaching. I stand up and gently close the fridge door, careful not to make any noise. As I turn around, our eyes meet and she freezes, poised on her tiptoes across the living room. Her eyes are wide, and her body stiff with tension. She looks caught off guard to see me standing in the kitchen. I offer a faint, awkward smile, unsure what to say. We stare at each other for a long moment, the howling wind outside filling the heavy silence between us.
I can't take my eyes off her. She's wearing nothing but Chris’s horror mania shirt, her smooth legs on full display. Her dark hair cascades over her shoulders, looking slightly mussed in an alluring way. I know I've seen her before, but in this moment, I can't remember where. A deep blush spreads across her cheeks as she meets my gaze, making her even more irresistible. She starts fidgeting with the hem of his shirt, suddenly shy. But I'm drawn to her like a magnet. I want to be the one making her blush, making her nervous in that tantalizing way. I imagine what it would feel like to run my hands through that messy hair. She's a vision I can't look away from. I need to know who she is.
The apartment door opens and Chris comes in one hand holding a paper bag with what has to be food and coffee in his other. His brown eyes bug wide as he takes in me in his kitchen and her in his living room. The door closes slowly behind him as his lip curls into a smile, “Well, this is awkward.”
Setting the coffee and food on the table, Chris steps between me and his mystery girl, whispering something in her ear and she pads away back to his room.
He turns to me. "What are you doing here, man?"
He's not mad. I've seen Mad Chris before, and this ain't it. I shrug. I gesture around the room. "I expected to find you in your boxers, surrounded by vanilla Coke cans and takeout boxes, face glued to the TV as you school some noobs at Halo. I didn't expect..." I point toward the bedroom. "Who is she?"
Chris grins as he picks up his coffee. "Eve. Remember that concert in Denver almost a year ago?"
"The one night stand you wouldn't shut up about as you dragged your sorry ass out of the hotel?"
Chris has always had a knack for pulling gorgeous women. Hell, I didn't even bat an eye when he was dating Emily or Melanie - I was completely wrapped up in my own relationship at the time. But this new girl of his...man, she's something else. The moment I saw her, I couldn't peel my eyes away. Her nervous smile, her cute face as she blushes, the way she moves...Chris hit the jackpot with this one. I hate to admit it, but I'm crazy jealous. For the first time, I find myself wishing I was in his shoes.
He'd gone on for hours about how spectacular the sex was, how it had been like a heavenly experience. I couldn't really understand. Sex for me was so...different. I never got myself physically involved with someone without knowing them enough to be certain I could make them writhe. For me, intimacy required a deep connection and understanding of my partner. I needed to know what made them tick, what drove them wild with pleasure. But for him, it seemed the act itself was enough. The sheer thrill of the moment overpowered any need for a profound bond. As long as the passion burned hot, he lost himself completely. We all seek intimacy in different ways, I suppose.
Now that I was connecting the dots it made sense all the days he’d be texting on his phone. him smiling down at the screen, his thumbs busily typing away messages to someone. His facial expressions and body language implied that some of those conversations were more intimate or exciting in nature. At the time, I was preoccupied with my own relationship troubles after a difficult breakup, leaving me feeling lonely, insecure and admittedly a bit resentful of other people's happiness. I simply looked the other way, too absorbed in my own problems to care or investigate further.
Now that I know he is alive I feel like I am suddenly a third wheel. I straighten my jacket and head for the door, ready to make a quick and quiet exit before they notice I'm leaving. But just as my hand reaches the doorknob, her voice stops me.
“Leaving already?” She's still wearing his shirt, though now with leggings peeking out from underneath the hem. Her long hair cascades over her right shoulder as she runs a brush through it, working patiently through the tangles. I turn to face her, but find myself struck speechless. No words come, either to my mind or my lips. I'm frozen, unable to articulate the storm of emotions swirling inside me.
My hand is frozen on the doorknob as she steps closer, close enough I can see the beautiful color of her eyes. She throws the combed locks back over her shoulder giving me a reassuring smile. “It’s snowing like crazy, I’m sure Chris could have more food delivered. Stay for a while, please.”
I stand paralyzed, unable to turn the knob and exit into the blizzard outside. The howling wind rattles the windows as snow piles up, sealing us inside. But it's not the storm that roots me in place - it's her. As she approaches, her eyes lock onto mine, luminous pools of emerald that see right through me.
I don't like feeling so exposed, I like to be sure I know what I'm doing, saying, wearing before I go anywhere, talk to anyone. I take so much time planning how my outfit will look, although my wardrobe is all black it is complimentary black, each piece fitting perfectly with the next. I carefully coordinate every detail, from the textures and drapes of my fabrics, to the subtle sheens on my leather accessories. My style is precise, polished, intentional. Even my hair is meticulously styled, whether I decide to shave it close or let it grow out a bit. My shoes are both functional and stylish - sleek boots or oxfords that allow me to stride with purpose. Everything I do is calculated, I run through every step, every word, every motion that I will take when I go somewhere. I visualize each scenario, planning my actions and reactions. I examine every angle of how I will be perceived. The satisfaction I feel when my external presentation aligns perfectly with my internal sense of self is profound. The confidence I exude stems from the control I exert over each aspect of my persona. My wardrobe, my grooming, my mannerisms - they are an artful composition designed to eliminate any unease. I find freedom in the mastery of my image and interactions. What some may see as exhausting is for me energizing - it is deeply fulfilling to meticulously shape how I am viewed by the world.
In this unexpected moment, my mind goes blank and I find myself utterly unprepared. All the carefully crafted excuses and explanations I had ready vanish into thin air. A wave of fear washes over me as I fumble for words, stuttering and stammering incoherently. I grasp for any plausible justification, rambling about the treacherous drive and hazardous weather conditions, but the absurdity of cautioning you against venturing out in the very storm I'm about to confront myself quickly dawns on me. My mouth flaps uselessly, spewing disjointed fragments like a fish flung onto land and gasping for breath. I'm flailing helplessly, lost in this unforeseen situation. Finally, my brain catches up and I clamp my lips together, silencing the nonsensical babble. An uneasy silence settles between us and I shift uncomfortably, racking my mind for something - anything - sensible to say. But I come up empty. The carefully constructed facade I had prepared so meticulously has shattered, leaving me exposed and unprepared in this unexpected moment.
She smiles so softly tilting her head as she asks me to stay one more time. The snow provides the perfect excuse to linger a little longer in her intoxicating presence. She must feel it too, the magnetic pull between us that demands more time together. As the flakes continue to fall outside, blanketing the world in white, inside sparks a flame that melts my frozen hesitance.
I suddenly remember why I came, turning to Chris as I shove my hands in my pockets. “Seth called Vin, said you didn’t answer about your podcast scheduled for tomorrow.” Chris was busy shoving something in his mouth pausing mid bite with eyes wide. He swallowed hard mumbling curses under his breath as he dropped his food on the table to drag his phone out of his pocket.
I watched as he frantically scrolled through missed calls and unread texts, no doubt seeing the reminders about tomorrow's podcast that he had ignored earlier. A look of frustration and self-annoyance crossed over Chris' face. He was upset with himself for overlooking something so important. As he processed the situation, Chris seemed to sink into a state of stress and anxiety. His eyes held a faraway look, likely imagining the work he'd have to hustle to get done before tomorrow's recording.
"You said you wouldn't be busy while I was here," she sounded wounded. "Now I feel guilty." Chris turned to her with an apologetic look, realizing that his oversight had not only affected his work responsibilities but also his personal commitments. He opened his mouth as if to explain or make amends, but no words came out. I could see the remorse on his face and knew he felt terrible.
“Well, hey, i’m free tomorrow. I have some errands to run and maybe she could tag along…” I find myself offering to have her tag along to run errands, even though I know so little about this person. Typically, I prefer my solitude when taking care of mundane tasks and avoid having others accompany me. Yet, in this moment, I feel compelled to extend an invitation. She intrigues me, and I'm curious to learn more in a relaxed, casual setting as we check off items on our to-do lists. I want to observe how we interact outside structured conversation - note the cadence of our chatter, what makes her laugh, what irks her. The everyday offers a glimpse into personality. In the routine of errands, guards drop and authenticity emerges.
“I wouldn’t want to bother you,” Her eyes dart nervously between the scuffed hardwood floor and Chris's warm, reassuring gaze from across the room.
“If Rick is offering it’s not a bother, he wouldn’t offer if he didn’t mean it.” Chris reassures her with a smile as he puts his phone to his ear, “Seth, hey man, sorry about that…” his conversation trails off as he paces to the back of the apartment.
Of course that man knows me better than I know myself sometimes. I’m still standing there awkwardly in the door finding my eyes dropping to the handle as if it will be a quick escape from this uncomfortable situation. "I should go," I feel the words roll out of my mouth and almost instantly regret them, "I’ve got projects at home I need to finish before tomorrow. I’ll be back around 11, we’ll head out then." I don't let her respond or persuade me to stay again, instead taking the door knob in a vice grip and slipping out of the door and down the hall before she can say anything. My heart pounds as I make my hasty exit, feeling a mix of relief at avoiding further awkwardness but also regret that I couldn't bring myself to stay. All the way home I mentally kick myself for offering to take her out tomorrow in the first place. Now I can't cancel as that would be rude, but I can already feel my mind start to anxiously overthink the situation - what am I gonna do, what am I gonna say, what will I wear? My stomach ties itself in knots as I imagine all the ways I could embarrass myself, but also the possibility that maybe, just maybe, it will go well after all. I try to push the swirling thoughts from my mind, take a deep breath, and focus on finishing my work so I'll be ready for whatever tomorrow brings.

Tencent Hunyuan3D-PolyGen: A model for 'art-grade' 3D assets
New Post has been published on https://thedigitalinsider.com/tencent-hunyuan3d-polygen-a-model-for-art-grade-3d-assets/
Tencent Hunyuan3D-PolyGen: A model for 'art-grade' 3D assets
Tencent has released a model that could be quite literally game-changing for how developers create 3D assets.
The new Hunyuan3D-PolyGen model is Tencent’s first attempt at delivering what they’re calling “art-grade” 3D generation, specifically built for the professionals who craft the digital worlds we play in.
Creating high-quality 3D assets has always been a bottleneck for game developers, with artists spending countless hours perfecting wireframes and wrestling with complex geometry. Tencent reckons they’ve found a way to tackle these headaches head-on, potentially transforming how studios approach asset creation entirely.
Levelling up generating 3D assets
The secret sauce behind Hunyuan3D-PolyGen lies in what Tencent calls BPT technology. In layman’s terms, it means they’ve figured out how to compress massive amounts of 3D data without losing the detail that matters. In practice, that means it’s possible to generate 3D assets with tens of thousands of polygons that actually look professional enough to ship in a commercial game.
🚀Introducing Hunyuan3D-PolyGen, our newly upgraded and industry-first art-grade 3D generative model. It brings effortless intelligent retopology, making AI-generated models ready for professional art pipelines.
✅ Superior Mesh Topology: Our self-developed mesh autoregressive… pic.twitter.com/Lwy0dfGZkx
— Hunyuan (@TencentHunyuan) July 7, 2025
What’s particularly clever is how the system handles both triangular and quadrilateral faces. If you’ve ever tried to move 3D assets between different software packages, you’ll know why this matters. Different engines and tools have their preferences, and compatibility issues have historically been a nightmare for studios trying to streamline their workflows.
According to technical documentation, the system utilises an autoregressive mesh generation framework that performs spatial inference through explicit and discrete vertex and patch modelling. This approach ensures the production of high-quality 3D models that meet stringent artistic specifications demanded by commercial game development.
Hunyuan3D-PolyGen works through what’s essentially a three-step dance. First, it takes existing 3D meshes and converts them into a language the AI can understand.
Using point cloud data as a starting point, the system then generates new mesh instructions using techniques borrowed from natural language processing. It’s like teaching the AI to speak in 3D geometry, predicting what should come next based on what it’s already created.
Finally, the system translates these instructions back into actual 3D meshes, complete with all the vertices and faces that make up the final model. The whole process maintains geometric integrity while producing results that would make any technical artist nod in approval.
Tencent isn’t just talking about theoretical improvements that fall apart when tested in real studios; they’ve put this technology to work in their own game development studios. The results? Artists claim to report efficiency gains of over 70 percent.
The system has been baked into Tencent’s Hunyuan 3D AI creation engine and is already running across multiple game development pipelines. This means it’s being used to create actual 3D game assets that players will eventually interact with.
Teaching AI to think like an artist
One of the most impressive aspects of Hunyuan3D-PolyGen is how Tencent has approached quality control. They’ve developed a reinforcement learning system that essentially teaches the AI to recognise good work from bad work, much like how a mentor might guide a junior artist.
The system learns from feedback, gradually improving its ability to generate 3D assets that meet professional standards. This means fewer duds and more usable results straight out of the box. For studios already stretched thin on resources, this kind of reliability could be transformative.
The gaming industry has been grappling with a fundamental problem for years. While AI has made impressive strides in generating 3D models, most of the output has been, quite frankly, not good enough for commercial use. The gap between “looks impressive in a demo” and “ready for a AAA game” has been enormous.
Tencent’s approach with Hunyuan3D-PolyGen feels different because it’s clearly been designed by people who understand what actual game development looks like. Instead of chasing flashy demonstrations, they’ve focused on solving real workflow problems that have been frustrating developers for decades.
As development costs continue to spiral and timelines get ever more compressed, tools that can accelerate asset creation without compromising quality become incredibly valuable.
The release of Hunyuan3D-PolyGen hints at a future where the relationship between human creativity and AI assistance becomes far more nuanced. Rather than replacing artists, this technology appears designed to handle the grunt work of creating 3D assets, freeing up talented creators to focus on the conceptual and creative challenges that humans excel at.
This represents a mature approach to AI integration in creative industries. Instead of the usual “AI will replace everyone” narrative, we’re seeing tools that augment human capabilities rather than attempt to replicate them entirely. The 70 percent efficiency improvement reported by Tencent’s teams suggests this philosophy is working in practice.
The broader implications are fascinating to consider. As these systems become more sophisticated and reliable, we might see a fundamental shift in how game development studios are structured and how projects are scoped. The technology could democratise high-quality asset creation, potentially allowing smaller studios to compete with larger operations that traditionally had resource advantages.
The success of Hunyuan3D-PolyGen could well encourage other major players to accelerate their own AI-assisted creative tools beyond generating 3D assets, potentially leading to a new wave of productivity improvements across the industry. For game developers who’ve been watching AI developments with a mixture of excitement and scepticism, this might be the moment when the technology finally delivers on its promises.
