At this point in her life, Lois has a pretty high threshold for weird. She has an alien-slash-superhero for a husband, a half alien for a son, and her husband's clone for a... family of some sort. Honestly, she still doesn't quite know where she stands with Kon.
That's not the point. The point is this: Lois is walking home, mentally composing the beginning to her current story, when she sees a glowing green portal open up. It's late afternoon on a weekday, but this neighborhood is nearly deserted, and the few other people on the street turn and hurry in the other direction-- an entirely sensible reaction, especially in a city that has seen as much alien bullshit as Metropolis
Lois, however, has never been particularly sensible. She runs straight towards the green portal.
A figure stumbles out, just as she reaches the portal. The portal blinks out of existence and the figure collapses.
On instinct, Lois reaches out and catches the figure. They look like a teenage boy, with white hair and wearing what looks like a superhero costume of some kind. He's light, by human standards at least, though Lois has no idea if he's even human to begin with.
She carefully lowers the boy to the ground next to her and pulls out her cellphone.
"Clark," she says. "I think you need to come see this."
------
At this point in their lives, no one even tries to argue with Lois about whether she should be on the Watchtower. It's a little disappointing; she could use a good argument to distract herself.
Instead, she's standing in the medbay, looking through a reinforced window at the kid she found. She's not allowed in the room with him, in case he's dangerous, but she can't quite bring herself to leave.
She's never been able to ignore a mystery.
It's only because she's still watching that she sees it happen: a flash of light, and suddenly he's just a dark haired teenager in a slightly dirty hoodie.
The doctors in the room with him flurry about, presumably trying to figure out how this fits into what little they've figured out about his physiology.
She's not sure how much longer she stands there, watching. Long enough that her desire to stick around and find out more has begun to war with the practical side of herself that reminds her of all of her other responsibilities. She has work tomorrow, and Jon has school and there's no way he's done his homework without someone reminding him, and--
"Lois?"
She startles, surprised, and turns to see Clark, his face lined with worry.
"Doctor Lewis wants to talk to us," he says.
Lois lets Clark lead the way; she doesn't usually find herself on the Watchtower unless it's an emergency, and doesn't know her way around as well as he does. He leads her into a small office, where a tiny brunette woman is frowning at a tablet.
"I don't know how much help I'll be," Lois says. "I didn't even get the chance to talk to him."
Doctor Lewis's face does something complicated. Then she says, "I don't know how to say this, so I'm just going to say it. We ran some blood tests on the boy-- standard procedure in this kind of situation, you know, find out if he's human or something else we have record of--" Lewis cuts herself off and briefly closes her eyes. "We got a hit off of his DNA."
"Another clone?" Clark asks, frowning.
"No," Doctor Lewis says. "He's a perfect match for Dan-El."
Clark makes a sound like he's been punched-- except Clark is invulnerable; a punch would have hurt less than this. Lois-- she doesn't know what she's feeling.
"How sure are you?" she demands.
"Ninety-nine percent," the doctor says. "I can't guarantee he's the one that originated in this universe, but--"
Lois doesn't wait to hear what else she has to say. She turns in her heel and strides back toward the medbay. She's faintly aware of a few heroes and other personnel she pushes out of her way, but they don't really register. They don't matter. Nothing matters, except this: her oldest son is alive.
-----
They don't talk about Daniel.
There's nothing to talk about.
It's not the healthiest way to handle grief, Lois knows, but it's the only way they could manage. The few months after he was taken, she and Clark barely talked. Their few conversations turned into arguments turned into tears and recriminations. Clark blamed himself for not being able to save Daniel, and on her worst days, Lois did too.
For a while, it seemed like they were careening toward divorce. Clark took a leave of absence from the Planet, moved back in with his parents for a while, threw himself into being Superman. Lois, similarly, threw herself into her investigative work.
There was no moment where things were suddenly better. No dramatic reconciliation. Just quiet conversations, and the slow passage of time, and the gaping wound of their loss began scarring over.
Lois and Clark moved into a new apartment. They packed up Daniel's things and put them away.
Jon is born, and that wound heals a little more, but sometimes-- sometimes Lois looks at him and wonders what Daniel would have been like at his age, whether he and Jon would have gotten along.
Kon's existence tears that wound open again. He's only a little older than Daniel would have been, and it's not-- it's not fair, silly as that sounds. But he didn't ask to be made-- doesn't even know Daniel ever existed, as far as Lois knows-- and eventually she and Clark can both look at him without seeing the ghosts of what could have been.
And now, Lois stands in the Watchtower, pressing her hands against the glass, staring at her son who has come back from the dead.
Superman and Lois had a son before Jon. One that was ripped away from them far too soon in a scheme devised by Braniac. They tried desperately to get him back but by the time they had tracked Braniac down, their baby had already been sent away to somewhere unknown. This loss was devastating. So much in fact that they couldn't even bear to look at a picture of him or utter his name, convinced their son was lost forever.
Danny must flee his dimension as it's no longer safe for him. That's when Clockwork tells him it is time to return to his home world. Wait, what?

Prompt from @help-i-need-a-cool-username
Jason has once again snuck into Gotham University. Now, before any assumptions are made onto why the crime lord would break into a college, the reason is because he likes the library. That's it. The public library is trashed and small, barely taken care of, but Gotham U's? It's beautiful. Multiple floors, organized and in sections, taken care of, alphabetical order, it's magnificent. The chairs were a reason alone to sneak in, but the students here added an extra charm.Â
He had gone to the very back of the library on the second floor. This area was pretty well hidden and enclosed. He would come here to read without anyone questioning him, even hiding the books he wasnât finished with yet to continue on later. Jason wasnât expecting someone to be so close to his spot though. A few tables across stood a student, thin, tall, with pitch black hair, baggy cargo jeans, and a white t-shirt. The other hadnât noticed him yet, so he remained quiet and just watched. He was in front of a large white board on wheels, seemingly taken from the rooms he saw down the hall.Â
âThat doesnât work, goddammit.â
On the white board was lines upon lines of equations- at least he thought they were equations, with most of them being letters and symbols rather than numbers. It made the vigilanteâs brain hurt. The student - assumed STEM major - just kept mumbling to himself.
âStupid physics, wonât allow interdimensional travelâ
What? Jason may have been out of school since 15, but he knew no courses were asking for the answer to traveling between dimensions. It seemed the student had a habit of talking to himself when worked up or focused, possibly why he isolated himself from the rest of the library.Â
âIf your parents could do it, why canât you? Think Danny, think!â
That sentence wasnât concerning at all, but at least Jason learned the boyâs name. Danny seemed to have a strange background, what did he mean by âif your parents could do itâ? Had his parents managed to travel between dimensions? The other was chewing on the cap of the white board marker, his other hand resting on his hip as he swayed back and forth.
âOh! Oh! Oh! That! The thing! That thingy!â
Jason could practically see the lightbulb go on above Dannyâs head. Just then the other erased a solid portion of the whiteboard and dropped to his knees, ouch. He started frantically scribbling, fast and messy, barely cohesive. Though, Jason was sure that if it was Tim sitting where he was instead, the boy could probably understand everything on that board. Heâd stick to English literature, thank you very much.Â
âThatâs it! Oh my ancients! I got it!â
Danny practically jumped in the air, punching the air in triumph. Jason almost felt proud of him, this complete stranger heâs been watching, wow he was being creepy, huh? Danny shot both of his arms straight up, the marker gripped tightly in his right hand fist.Â
âI did it!â
He looked so happy, so excited. He began to buzz, even spinning, before stopping mid loop and turning around slowly. Shit, Jason had been caught. To be fair, Danny hadnât exactly turned around the whole time, meaning Jason was just watching his back the whole time as he worked through his⌠problem? Itâs such a shame, Jason was thoroughly entertained by this random kid.Â
âUhhh, hi? How long have you been there?â
Oh shit, Jason had to talk now, didnât he?
âNot very long, but long enough to know you were trying to solve interdimensional travel before apparently succeeding.âÂ
The color drained from Dannyâs face. Whoops?
âUhm, no I didnât.â
Now that he got a closer look, the student looked like someone Bruce would adopt. Black hair, clear blue eyes, tan skin, sharp features, the whole nine yards. He was actually fairly attractive, maybe even cute.Â
âReally? I could have sworn that you said âstupid physics wonât allow interdimensional travelââ
âI have no clue what youâre talking about.â
âYeah sure, and Iâm a student here.â
âWait, youâre not a student here?â
âThatâd only be true if you were lying.â
âWell Iâm not so-â
âUh huh, sure youâre not.â
âLook dude-â
âJason.â
âLook Jason, thereâs no way that I could solve interdimensional travel, the multiverse doesnât exist.â
âLook Danny-â
âHow do you know my name?â
âI wonât tell a single soul if you explain how you did it to meâ
Curiosity won his gambit. Would he regret what he was about to say? Perhaps.
âMaybe over a coffee?â
He knew it was worth it when the marker hit the floor and Danny moved his hand to cover his red face. Well, it wasnât the first time heâs done something he regrets, maybe this time itâd be a cute STEM major who knows the secrets to the multiverse.Â

Michele Stodart
St. Pancras Old Church, London, 30/11/23
Michele Stodart has a CV in the rock world second to none. Bassist and vocalist in the The Magic Numbers, festival curator and promoter, actress in Danny Boyle and Richard Curtisâ Yesterday and musical director at the UK Americana Awards.

But thereâs nothing aloof about her. Here she is baring her soul at the intimate St Pancras Old Church âinviting in the darknessâ as she says, by way of explaining the title of Invitation, her third and first album in seven years. The theory being that it is in the âlistening and learning that we can transformâ. Itâs fitting that Stodart extirpates some of her demons in a church named after the Roman Christian martyr, whose name in Greek means the one that holds everything.
She says itâs important to surround yourself with people who âlift you upâ, the implication being this principle guided the composition of her backing band, which features singer songwriter David Ford on guitar, Andy Bruce on piano, Holly Carter on pedal steel and Emma Holbrook on drums

The first set is a run through of the album that culminates in Drowning, expiating quietly, like a last breath at its end. There are the tranquil, comtemplative, healing melodies of Undone and Come Dance With Me and the strolling blues of These Bones. The highlight, as it is on vinyl, is the desperately poignant Tell Me.
The songs, whether acoustic, piano or violin-led do indeed feel transformational and often slow burn to a crescendo. After the interval Stodart introduces new compositions including collaborations with Ford and special guest and singer-songwriter Kathryn Williams, who quips âI was enjoying this amazing gig now youâve spolied it!â for a song called Lucky Ones. Brother Romeo, lead singer of the Numbers, is in the audience, and whoops flit appreciatively around the chapel like swallows on a serene, intermittently playful, night.

2017 Rap I Love so Far
Below is a list of tracks that have released in 2017 that I have enjoyed and a little understanding of why I enjoy these tracks and why you should check them for yourself.
1.5 XO Tour Lif3 â Lil Uzi Vert
I love this song. You really feel the bass hitting in this song, another thing about this beat that I think goes unacknowledged is the small âcheckâ like sound layered right above the bass in the beat. Lil Uziâs singing is actually decent in the song. Itâs very easy to just lose yourself in the spacey vibes this beat produces.
If anything hurts this song, itâs more likely the content of this song. The chorus of this song talks about a woman who is hurt or himself and it deviates from that as it goes on and barely backs it up through the rest. In the first verse he speaks on it a little with lines like, âMy Brittany got mad, I'm barely her man now.â Then directly follows with âEverybody got the same swag now.â
https://soundcloud.com/liluzivert/15-xo-tour-llif3
Kill Jay-Z â Jay Z
I think this is probably my favorite or second favorite track from this album. I have been debating whether I enjoy this, 4:44 or Marcy Me more. I enjoy all of them for almost the same reasons. What makes this track for me is Jay Z. What makes me love this track is Jayâs ability to make seem like he is not only talking to/about someone else but to himself as well. I also do not think this track is what many people believe it to be. Lastly, I love the subtle shot at Future, itâs as if it just snuck into a line of waiting people and no one noticed it at first. âIn the Future, other niggas playin' football with your sonâ
Equalizer â Denzel Curry
I think recently I have just been infatuated with the Florida scene and that leads to Denzel Curryâs recent Ep drop 13. Itâs almost as if they have their own metal rap or industrial rap, itâs not death grips though.
I like the way this track just starts itâs self almost as if itâs a riots starting especially with the first few lines Denzel says, âEqualizer, synthesizer, Ultimately, I will brutalize ya, I got the shit that could take out New York, I do not fuck with the populationâ I also really love the heavy bass it just puts that energy in your back. I would just check out this entire project tbh. I am indifferent about the Ronny J feature Iâd probably just like a second verse from Curry.
https://soundcloud.com/denzelcurryph/denzel-curry-equalizer-demo-produced-by-ronny-j
Lil Purrp â Different Color Molly
This is another rapper from the Florida scene doing good things right now. The vibe of this song is what makes me like it so much. Lil Purrp isnât really saying much in this song itâs clearly a flexing song with lines like, âLook at the diamond they dance (what)â but itâs way more on the mellow side of flexing itâs not really heavy and in your face. The chorus almost sounds like something Travis Scott would produce and let me tell you I am a La Flame Fiend (we will get to that soon.) Itâs a nice listen check it out.
https://soundcloud.com/smokepurpp/different-color-molly
A Man and Green & Purple ft Playboi Carti â Travis scott
Now I am a Travis Scott fiend. I can definitely say he is my favorite artist out right now. I just love his energy and beats and sometimes he even has great stuff to say in these tracks. Unfortunately, this is one of those times where I do not feel like he is saying much: A man is about him just being a man with a double entendre of the phrase A man to be used as Amen. Green & Purple is similar in which the first verse he is speaking about a Girl and helping her out with several things or getting her to do several things, the second verse I am unable to decipher. The Playboi Carti feature is dam near perfect he doesnât say much either. I love these songs very much because they are dark and itâs just what I need, they arenât as dark as an Antidote or Goosebumps but I will take it and am awaiting Travisâ next project patiently.
https://soundcloud.com/travisscott-2/a-man
https://soundcloud.com/travisscott-2/green-purple
Slide ft Frank Ocean and Migos â Calvin Harris
I was super skeptical when I heard that there was a Calvin Harris track with Frank Ocean and Migos on it. MIGOS? The Migos whom are known for making heavy and dark trap music but they fit on this track perfectly, I would even argue they just as good on the track as Frank Ocean. I will say that there are parts in Frank Oceanâs verse that I do not enjoy his singing.
I think Offset is the shining star of this song though, I love the way he enters the song âwhoop whoop whoop, OFFSET!â I also wish Takeoff got a verse on this song (another song where he is left off, and yes you look left off Bad and Boujee.) Itâs just a really nice funky/R&B groove layered with rapping. From this album also check out the Donât Quit and Cash Out track especially Cash Out wew lad such fire.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8Ee4QjCEHHc
XXX â Kendrick Lamar
I am simply in love with this track. Just a magnificent track if you ask me, there are some issues with it though. First off I love how Kendrick just sets up the rest of this track with the first few bars in the first verse. Identifying the mindset of black men and then all of a sudden it ramps up with him telling the story of how his friend found out they killed his son because of âinsufficient fundsâ then asks Kendrick for advice. Ooooo weeeee this track is just amazing in the first half the second half is where it kind of dies off I am indifferent of the U2 feature I can currently think of anyone better to fill that role it does seem a little forced. I also wish he would have just kept going harder for just as long as it dies down. Â

Submission ft Danny Brown and Kelela â Gorillaz
The Interlude right before this track and this track are set up perfectly. I also love the wacky sounds that come out of this beat it is very techno like. Itâs a sound that I would love to hear more of with the correct rappers on it and for this track I think Danny Brown was great. I do think his voice though overtakes this track he is very boisterous when he comes on, Kelela vibes well in her part then almost makes me wonder if you had a voice that was just as boisterousâ as Danny Browns like a BeyoncĂŠ on the track would It be even better. I will say that the guitar strums in the middle of the chorus are annoying along with the fading beat as soon as Danny browns verse starts.

Met Gala ft Offset â Gucci Mane
OOOOOooooo WEEEEEeeeee this track is a flex song of the summer for me, Not going to lie my jaw dropped when I first heard this. First off salute to Offset for absolutely killing this track for about 2 minutesâ straight, the chorus and verse are amazing for the purpose the serve. Second, salute to you MetroBoomin sit this beat is crazy and beautiful, that bass wew lawd. Unlike Lil Purrpâs Different Color Molly Gucci mane and Offset want you to know they are flex kings and better than you from the beginning to end, top to bottom, left to right. With lines Offset give that compare Pac and Biggie to himself and Gucci, âMe and the Wop, Biggie and Pac (Wop), But we so different, we keepin' the Glock (bow).â

âDanny!â A voice pierced through the blurry light of his vision. âYouâve finally decided to join me!â
Dan blinked the watery fog out of his eyes and sluggishly looked up to address the voice. He was just barely able to make out the black outline of a figure in front of him, coming closer. Dan blinked again, this time opening his eyes to a pair of dark chocolate brown eyes and a devilishly dimpled smile. Dan didnât know how to react to the intrusion of the boyâs face, instead deciding to take in his features - and couldnât help noticing that the boy looked very much like Dan himself.
The boy looked into Danâs eyes, as if he was trying to find something in there, but couldnât. Then he smirked with a sardonic lilt on his tongue, "do you remember me, Dan?â
