Took my bottle of @blackenedamericanwhiskey to my bar to crack open with my fellow bourbon chick/bartender, @q._sabreen. I had already about the process of this whiskey that Dave Pickerell had a hand in with @metallica using a process called “Black Noise” during the barreling process using the music to further the flavor of the blended bourbons, whiskies and ryes. Aroma is sweet and fruity. Very smooth taste were the spice hits the tongue and the finish is soft linger of heat down the throat. We both highly approve and enjoy this blended whiskey! It has taken us a week to internalize the loss. We first want to send our love and condolences to Dave’s family and his close friends. Dave was larger than life. His whiskey knowledge second to none. The cocktail and bar scene has forever been changed for his work and love of rye whiskey. We are honored to have known him and feel blessed to be able to help share some of his whiskey with our friends and family. Tonight we raise a glass in his honor. Rest easy Dave, thank you. 🥃BOSS: Icon, Dave Pickerell, sadly passed on Dia de los Muertos (November 1st, 2018) a day intended to celebrate those who passed but remain 'alive' through us and in the way we remember them. Thanks to Coco for the truncated lesson. I never got to meet this American whiskey icon, but I have enjoyed his unique expressions and can't wait to continue enjoy his new works (@blackenedamericanwhiskey). As a creator myself I admire so much of what these innovative craft distillers do. So much so, I felt the need to draw him in celebration of his legacy! Pickerell will be remembered as a pioneer, innovator and an authentic master craftsman. The whiskey landscape will surely miss his genius.
