Took my bottle of @blackenedamericanwhiskey to my bar to crack open with my fellow bourbon chick/bartender, @q._sabreen. I had already about the process of this whiskey that Dave Pickerell had a hand in with @metallica using a process called “Black Noise” during the barreling process using the music to further the flavor of the blended bourbons, whiskies and ryes. Aroma is sweet and fruity. Very smooth taste were the spice hits the tongue and the finish is soft linger of heat down the throat. We both highly approve and enjoy this blended whiskey! Fun night playing British Bingo and working my way through various bourbons I’ve not yet tried and discussing profiles with @q._sabreen. Not entirely sure I’ve had @fourrosesbourbon so she suggested the Single Barrel and then gave me Noah’s Mill, which I had no idea about. Tried a bourbon whiskey I hadn’t heard of before named after John Wayne, better yet, “Duke”. It was actually pretty good and smooth drinking on its own. I had a few margaritas prior to trying it so my palate was a bit off but it was a tasty drink for sipping. From what I’ve found it’s about a $40 bottle. Little more digging, turns out Duke’s son, Ethan Wayne, is one of the founders of the spirits company and worked to make a modern spirit that reflected the spirit of his dad.
