BerryGood - The 1st Full Album “Free Travel” {Review}
Tumblr media
I was so excited to write this review since they announced their comeback for two reasons: first, is the first full album review I’m writing, and second I’ve been waiting a lot for this comeback. However I’ve been busy and lazy and just now, almost two weeks later, I’m finally writing it.
01. Green Apple (풋사과) - TITLE
I usually like a lot BerryGood’s title songs, but I’ve to say this is an exception. I have no doubt this is a good song, but it just didn’t grow on me like their other songs. Also, the MV is not so good, even though I like the summer vibes.
Rate: 3,5/5
youtube
02. Mellow Mellow - TITLE
I actually was more excited about this title song than Green Apple, so I was really sad when the MV got deleted (and I didn’t even watched it). However, even without the MV the song is reallyy good, what I wanted and expected from BerryGood. I really like it and I think it would be amazing if this was the main title, and I really hope they re-upload the MV someday, it’s pretty good too.
Rate: 4,5/5
youtube
*this is the original MV, however, this is not an official channel.
03. 빨주노초파남보 (Rainbow)
I don’t know how to define this song. It’s an amazing song, but somehow it gives me... winter vibes? It sounds cuter than the title songs, I really like it. Also the lyrics (that aren’t that easy to find) are more innocent.
Rate: 4/5
04. Give It Away
This is the typical b-side song. A little bit retro, but with some hip-hop elements. I wouldn’t say I don’t like it, but I woudn’t say I like it either. Something really positive about this song is that it’s really catchy and always ends up stuck in my head.
Rate: 3,5/5
05. 미안해 언니 (Sorry Sister)
I loved this song from the first second. I was like “this sound like chinese music!” (I’m not chinese, but that’s the vibe the intro gives me). Then, they start to sing and their voices sound really good, and sound like ASMR at some points (I don’t like ASMR but BerryGood changed my mind for a second). The bridge is so good as well, I can’t express how much I LOVE this song. The name of the song made me curious, and (after using a tool to get the goddamn lyrics from the mp3 archive I downloaded ‘cuz it seems it’s impossible to find ‘em on Internet, and a few minutes trying to understand the result of google translate) they seem to be really intense, just what I expected and I actually that made me love the song even more.
Rate: 5/5
06. 나와나의날 (My Day)
I can’t help to feel sad listening to this song. Even before knowing what it was about, it made feel nostalgic. I think that they did a great job here, somehting I really love is when a singer can convey the feelings of a song even if you don’t know the lyrics or the language and that’s exactly what happens here.
Rate: 4,5/5
07. Fly (Flying Kiwi)
After two slow songs, this one comes perfectly. It’s a mid-tempo with EDM elements song that would suggest some autotuned voices, but is not like that (thankfully, since they have a great vocal line) and sticky chorus. It breaks the dramatic moment in a very good way.
Rate: 4/5
08. 다시 꿈꿀 수 있을까 (Can I Dream Again)
Once again, a really sad song greatly performed. I think I read somwehere that this is Johyun’s solo but I’m not pretty sure about that. Anyway, whoever is performing this song, has an amazing voice, and made this a beautiful ballad.
Rate: 4,5/5
09. 그놈의 사랑 (A God Damn Love)
If you listen to this album in order, you will definitely cry at this point. The previous song was a really sad ballad and this one starts in the same way. However, this has several rhythm changes that made of this song a beautful experience, and a perfect ending for the album. By the way, it gives me big OST vibes.
Rate: 4,5/5
Overall Rate: 4,5/5
I’m actually very pleased with this album. As I said the title song is not my favroite song (something that happens a lot). This album should get more recognition, not only because it’s very versatile and has amazing songs but because they show that they are a pure vocal group. I’m really sad because they said this could be their last album and they’ve been preparing it since last year, and after listening to this album it’s pretty obvious that they are really talented. I hope they don’t disband, instead I hope they get the recognition and love they deserve. I hope everyone support this album as much as possible, they really deserve it.

TAYLOR READS 2022: BE THE SERPENT BY SEANAN MCGUIRE
Tumblr media
Title: Be The Serpent (October Daye #16)
Author: Seanan McGuire
Genre/Tags: Fantasy, Urban Fantasy, First-Person, Female Protagonist
Rating: 10/10
Date Began: 09/23/2022
Date Finished: 10/25/2022
Things are going great for October “Toby” Daye; she’s just gotten married to the love of her life, and the future looks positive. But her entire world changes when Jessica Brown, daughter of her best friend Stacy, is brutally murdered. As Toby puts the pieces together, she is betrayed by someone she thought she could trust— and an ancient enemy returns to terrorize Faerie.
“Hello, October,” she said, and her voice was hers and not hers at the same time, the echoing, terrible voice of a goddess, and oh, I was so completely screwed.
For live reading notes, check the reblogs (warning for heavy spoilers).
Content warnings and review (spoiler-free and spoiler versions) under the cut.
Content Warnings: Depicted — Eye trauma/gore (it’s the chapter header art), death, filicide, child death, violence, gore, mind control, drug use (kinda), drug addiction, warfare (kinda), kidnapping. Mentioned — Torture, child abuse, genocide, human sacrifice, domestic abuse.
**SPOILER FREE REVIEW**
Oh, October Daye, a series near and dear to my heart. Obviously it has some appeal for me, considering I’ve made it to book 16. It’s a Faerie-based urban fantasy series (though less urban in recent years) with memorable twists, great character development, and a concerted effort toward broad LGBT representation. That being said, it is hard for me to wholeheartedly recommend this series to others; it’s long, and while some entries are incredible, others… aren’t. The previous book, When Sorrows Come, is the worst in the series due to egregious filler and bizarre editorial issues. By contrast, Be The Serpent is fantastic, featuring a satisfying, emotional payoff built up from the very first book.
October Daye focuses heavily on the long game. While I’m sure some characters and plots are invented whole-cloth, it’s clear many story beats and developments have been planned from inception. A core component of the series revolves around hidden identities. Almost every major character (and there are a lot of them) is either secretly someone else or has something to hide. In a series full of crazy setups and payoffs, Be The Serpent contains the most shocking one yet; no small feat. According to the opening acknowledgments, this was planned a good fifteen books ago. From most authors, I’d be skeptical of such a claim, but I completely believe it here; so many weird details suddenly make sense.
If you’re not familiar with October Daye but have some interest in the series, I recommend reading to at least An Artificial Night (#3, the first major turning point) and seeing if you wish to continue from there. As I said, the series is a little hit or miss, but the hits are fantastic. My personal favorite entries are An Artificial Night (#3), The Winter Long (#8), The Brightest Fell (#11), and now this bombshell, Be The Serpent (#16).
**SPOILER REVIEW**
Jesus fucking Christ, STACY was Titania? Quite literally the last character I’d ever expect. But by God does it explain the weird shit going on with her bloodline and children. It looks like a lot of people suspected this, but I genuinely had no idea. I didn’t expect the casual “Stacy’s kids are kind of weird, huh” detail to explode in such a gut-wrenching way. Yeah, when the pre-release blurb mentioned the betrayal of a long-time ally, my sister and I immediately thought of the two most suspicious characters (Marcia and Stacy) but my brain never made the Titania connection. So like… half-guessed the twist, I guess? Even if Stacy was our second choice?
Anyway, this entry is highly reminiscent of The Winter Long, which is nothing but a compliment. I’ll have to ruminate on whether this beats that book and/or The Brightest Fell in terms of personal enjoyment. I had many complaints about When Sorrows Come and distinctly remember saying the series NEEDS a Winter Long-type shakeup. Well god damn did Be The Serpent deliver. I’m so pumped for where the series is going; I hope the days of filler plots and forgettable villains are behind us now.
Be The Serpent pulls no punches. Its inciting incident is the brutal murder of Jessica Brown, a recurring child character. There’s an overwhelming sense of unease as her mother Stacy becomes more and more suspicious. The reveal that Stacy is (unwittingly) Titania, who’s trapped in an eternal loop of cursed reincarnation and child murder, is… quite something. “Stacy” even MEANS “resurrection”, an infuriating bit of foreshadowing. Titania has been built up as a major antagonist throughout the series, and there’s a stark contrast between her and Stacy, a stalwart ally since book one. I think one thing McGuire did especially well in this novel is portray the transition between the two characters; the sense of wrongness when “Stacy” says something off-color just ramps up the tension until it explodes.
I’ve mentioned this a lot already, but this book solidifies my suspicion that Marcia is Maeve. Be The Serpent all but looks the reader in the eye to say that reveal is coming next, and that she’s someone we know. And there’s a ton of evidence both in this book and previous entries that line up with Marcia– her name, Firstborn acting strange around her, her ambiguous history and heritage, her association with water, the whole “can see through reality” line Toby drops and then refuses to elaborate on, the lack of suspicion around her, and so on. She is the only character in the huge cast that makes sense. I kinda hope the next book is the one to drop the reveal, especially after so much specific buildup for it in this entry.
Be The Serpent also ends on a cliffhanger, which I believe is a series first. Even though A Killing Frost drops the Oberon twist at the end, it still wraps up its conflict. Things are ambiguous here though. Toby has been kidnapped and brainwashed? Is she in a dream, a manufactured reality, or has Titania actually bent the world to her own whims? Is the August Toby encounters actually her half-sister, an illusion, or someone else? Is “Father” Simon and “Mother” Amandine? There’s also the unanswered question re: how Simon managed to resist Titania’s mind control toward the end of the book; he is “of her blood”, and his genetically identical twin Sylvester fell under her thrall. Until this point, Simon has been the poster child for “easily mind controlled” – by Titania’s daughter Eira no less– so I’ve got nothing on why that happened. Whatever is next, I’m looking forward to it. While recent entries have been a little hit or miss, the final chapter of Be The Serpent establishes an intriguing premise in the next book, at least.

heyyyyyyyy what's up i'm returning to tumblr bc I need more nerds to talk about my literary/fandom/human experience ideas with and I know y'all weirdos are where to find it, 'cause I've BEEN here for... Time. Back in ye olden dayes when tits were legal, at the very least. It's been a Hot Second since I've been active, though, so if y'all could do me some patience if I take a sec to get back up to speed on current norms that'd be a kindness!
Reasons for a Brand New Blog: I'm justifying the time spent on this to myself as "might publish stuff under my Real Name someday (like academically)" so I'm keeping that FAR away from my old tarnished & stained fannish identity, for the mutual protection of both.
About the name: I dunno, don't YOU feel weird about someone engaging in meta discourse with the possible intention to write academic papers about it?? 'cause I DO. I'm interested in the project of balancing privacy and credit to appropriately source academic explorations of ideas developed collectively in fandom, but I still feel weird. Oh but don't get me wrong-- I do actually fucking love vultures and if I ever see a California Condor in the wild I will die happy.
Important statements, based on my Tumblr Experience: BlPOC lives matter. Respect & defend trans people. Aro/acespec folks belong in the LGBTQIA+ community. Lastly, I will call myself fucking queer if I choose.
So that's me. Hello again. --AV

Tag Game
Tagged by @thebreakfastgenie
1. Why did you choose your url?  I changed my anonymous online presence to be nimuetheseawitch pretty much everywhere in the last few years. I chose the name Nimuë because I got into online gaming during the early quarantine and was really into the Lady of the Lake at the time. Also inspired by the connections between the Lady of the Lake and the sea witch (like Ursula from Little Mermaid) that Seanan McGuire makes in her October Daye books. Basically I’m a giant nerd and I wanted something witchy and oceany.
2. Any side blogs? Not anymore!
3. How long have you been on tumblr? since 2012
4. Do you have a queue tag? Nope. I barely queue.
5. Why did you start your blog in the first place? Senior year of college my roommate and I decided to start a blog of ridiculous shit we said to each other. So I made a blog in order to have access to our shared blog. I mostly lurked in November 2021 when I found mashblr.
6. Why did you choose your icon/pfp? Just a picrew I did.
7. Why did you choose your header? That’s a photo I took of Ellesmere Island from the deck of the icebreaker I was doing research from in 2012. I think it’s pretty
8. What’s your post with the most notes? My screenshot of the script of Margaret’s rant at BJ in Wheelers and Dealers
9. How many mutuals do you have? 14. I hand counted. And several of them are from when I made my blog back in 2012...
10. How many followers do you have? 47. I’m a tiny blog.
11. How many people do you follow? 152, many of whom aren’t posting anymore.
12. Have you ever made a shit post? Yes?
13. How often do you use tumblr a day? 2-4 times a day. Mostly I scroll on my phone while watching tv
14. Did you ever have a fight/argument with another blog? I don’t think so? Someone got mad at me, but I don’t think I’d go so far as to call it a fight.
15. How do you feel about the ‘you need to reblog’ posts? I’m rebelling by never reblogging.
16. Do you like tag games? They’re fun, but I feel awkward tagging people, since I have only 14 mutuals...
17. Do you like ask games? Very much!
18. Which of your mutuals do you think is tumblr famous? I dunno. A few of you are mashblr famous, but I don’t think you’re really tumblr famous. Unless you are, in which case I just don’t know things and congrats!
19. Do you have a crush on a mutual? Always have crushes on all of my mutuals. Love you all.
20. Tags! Nah, not going to bother. But if you want to do this tag game, I’d love to see your answers and you can feel free to tag me as the person who tagged you <3

[TASK 181: BARBADOS]
There’s a masterlist below compiled of over 300+ Barbadian faceclaims categorised by gender with their occupation and ethnicity denoted if there was a reliable source. If you want an extra challenge use random.org to pick a random number! Of course everything listed below are just suggestions and you can pick whichever faceclaim or whichever project you desire.
Any questions can be sent here and all tutorials have been linked below the cut for ease of access! REMEMBER to tag your resources with #TASKSWEEKLY and we will reblog them onto the main! This task can be tagged with whatever you want but if you want us to see it please be sure that our tag is the first five tags, @ mention us or send us a messaging linking us to your post!
THE TASK - scroll down for FC’s!
STEP 1: Decide on a FC you wish to create resources for! You can always do more than one but who are you starting with? There are links to masterlists you can use in order to find them and if you want help, just send us a message and we can pick one for you at random!
STEP 2: Pick what you want to create! You can obviously do more than one thing, but what do you want to start off with? Screencaps, RP icons, GIF packs, masterlists, PNG’s, fancasts, alternative FC’s - LITERALLY anything you desire!
STEP 3: Look back on tasks that we have created previously for tutorials on the thing you are creating unless you have whatever it is you are doing mastered - then of course feel free to just get on and do it. :)
STEP 4: Upload and tag with #TASKSWEEKLY! If you didn’t use your own screencaps/images make sure to credit where you got them from as we will not reblog packs which do not credit caps or original gifs from the original maker.
THINGS YOU CAN MAKE FOR THIS TASK -  examples are linked!

In celebration of December 13th being Saint Lucian National Day, here’s a masterlist below compiled of over 210+ Saint Lucian faceclaims categorised by gender with their occupation and ethnicity denoted if there was a reliable source.
