I made a website template!

It's based on my own website's design. Feel free to use it for your neocities website, or any other website. Let me know if you do!

Features:

Fully responsive, mobile-friendly design that looks good and comfortable on all devices

Easily customisable colours, fonts, background images, and layout using CSS variables

Elegant paragraph/image layouts

'Preview frame' for linking subpages or other 'fancy' links

i've got a new website! it's still a work in progress but at least the design and base-level code is In. now to put all of my tf2 and rgg art and fics in it...

also i'll post that majima drawing separately later because i love it so much. been sitting on that one for months LOL

ive been thinking about making a website for archiving my own work (art and fics) all in one place and tonight i did some basic Laying The Groundwork coding and testing ideas

i’ve already implemented a really simple dark/light mode button for the pages where i’ll put my fanfiction lmfao and im also going to look into elegant ways of displaying work with multiple chapters… exciting stuff.

anyway i reckon i could share the code/make some kind of template with a tutorial for the pages with the fics on them for people who want to independently host their fics themselves on a neocities-type website (folks who dont want to post on ao3 and alternatives)? is that something people would be interested in lol?

hey, do you know any other neocities websites with the kind of style your website has? i wanna get a bit more inspiration so i just dont straight up rip you off lol

WELL because of this message im writing a template based off my website design for anyone to rip it off and easily make it theirs...

with web design i fully don't mind anyone taking inspiration and like, literal code from me. feels like the ethos of making personal websites is about sharing the knowledge and all that. mostly a matter of crediting properly i guess?

anyway i should be done with this template in a few days... i'll be making a release post and tagging it #debtdeath coding adventures!

here’s a quick preview of the dark mode toggle button i made last night... the idea is that if i make this into a “template” style thing you’d be able to change the colours, margins, fonts, font sizes, of everything here, because your ideal light/dark mode may look different to mine.

but i’ll still put in tips for accessiblity (preferring low-contrast, not having your font be too small or your lines too long for better reading, etc.. that latter point is my main gripe with ao3′s layout btw the text on desktop looks TERRIBLE so hard to read. i also want to make my own user/work skin for ao3 LMFAO)

unless you know what youre doing and want to change/add something very specific, css tweaking in this template should be done entirely within the root element
