Managing Memory Changes In the Elderly
Memory changes in the elderly can strain relationships and affect cognition. The Sound Mind Hub suggests proactive strategies to help manage these changes effectively.
As individuals age, the functionality of their memory gradually diminishes. This can prove challenging for elderly individuals who possess a clear understanding of their cognitive abilities. Furthermore, the shifts in memory that occur within the elderly population can be subtle, making them harder to identify. Consequently, this may create tension within parent-adult child relationships, as the…

There’s a replica of a military tank in the center of the park.
Around the tank is a fence and around the fence, there are multiple signs telling you not to climb on it. The purpose of the tank is to memorialize the soldiers of WWII but currently, Steve Harrington is standing on top of it.
The (only) great thing about a trainee is that Hopper can send Callahan over to handle the trespassing first grader.
He looks away to scan the park and when he looks back, Steve is trying to kick Callahan in the head. Hopper whistles, “Knock it off, Harrington. The sign says no trespassing. Get down.”
Steve explodes, “I. Don’t. Know. How. To. Read!!”
He emphasizes this outburst by ripping off one of his shoes and throwing it at Hopper. It bouncing off his chest and Hopper gives him a flat look, “Get down.”
Steve goes for his other shoe but Hopper is already pass Callahan, grabbing him by the leg and yanking him off the tank. He gets kicked in the gut for his trouble.
He keeps ahold of him, carrying Steve kicking and screaming over to the truck and sitting him on the hood. The whole time thinking, this is new.
Steve’s troublesome but mostly polite. Half the time, Hopper’s just got to tell him to stop doing stuff and he will. He’s never seen a tantrum before.
“You know it’s against the law to hit a cop. What you just did would be called assaulting a police officer,” Hopper say because Steve likes to show off what he knows about law. “Could spend some time in jail.”
“Good,” Steve sniffles. He weakly kicks out again, just barely missing Callahan. “I want to go to jail.”
“That’s good,” Hopper says flatly. “Because that’s where you’re going.”
He picks the kid up again and unceremoniously dumps him in the backseat. He gets in the front. Callahan gets in the passenger seat, asks, “Boss, you’re not really going to..”
Steve’s still crying when Hopper starts the car. He’s eerily quiet about it but Hopper can see the tears in the rearview and he can hear the sniffles. He doesn’t say anything but drive.
He doesn’t go to the precinct despite what he says. He drives out to Benny’s Burgers, parks the kid in a booth, and then plays the cop, “I have some questions.”
Steve has his head down, pillowed by his arms. His shoulders are shaking with tears but his voice is painfully steady when he sniffles, “Need’a lawyer.”
“Callahan is not pressing charges,” Hopper says. “I need to know what happened for my incident report. I gotta explain why you tried to kick his head off his shoulders.”
“Cause he’s a butthead and I hate him.”
Hopper hums, “And what made you angry enough to do that?”
Steve looks up at him.
His watery brown eyes meeting his, and then Steve cries, “Tommy doesn’t want to be my friend anymore!”
Hopper thinks, Jesus Christ.

pondering that falon'din is associated with an owl, and those are also messengers of andruil. and he's referred to as "winged death" which is also mentioned to be something that elgar'nan deploys against enemies. and both falon'din and andruil are referred to as venturing into dark places, where no one else can survive/wanted to go.
and ghilan'nain was not initially an evanuris, but was antagonistic towards them and making a bunch of weird creatures. she was given the offer to join them in return for getting rid of the creatures, and accepted. but with "pride stopping her hand" from destroying a few. and when asked about trusting people to share power, solas says "I know that mistake well enough to carve the angles of her face from memory."
solas also has nothing good at all to say about falon'din, mostly calling him a bloodthirsty tyrant who went so far in encroaching onto other evanuris territory that mythal had to besiege his temple and beat him up to stop him.
but he says nothing about dirthamen at all.
dirthamen is described as having gone missing unexpectedly, scaring all his followers, because they were now unprotected. and caught between their own high priest wanting to lock them into the temple forever like a cask of amontillado, and other forces outside that wanted to take their secrets by force. there is one note that a dirthamen follower defied the evanuris and took on a forbidden (probably a dragon) type of form, and was judged by elgar'nan harshly. he apparently also invented the varterral to protect his town from a high dragon? wack, but also could indicate that he had worked with ghilan'nain on making it, since she's the only one who's otherwise mentioned to be bioengineering stuff.
dirthamen has very very few surviving statues or depictions, and is more associated with falon'din than as his own independent figure in the dalish myths. even his own temple includes mosaics of falon'din. there's a few statues that are probably dirthamen, but the most striking is in mythal's section of the fade behind the eluvian, which is a statue of a hooded figure, doubled over with a giant sword sticking out of his back.
#dragon age#dragon age meta#txt#dirthamen#i love the idea of ghilan'nain initially being friends with solas but then betraying the rebellion in favour of becoming an evanuris#ALSO it makes the ''he was a wolf and she was a halla 🥺'' Heterosexual Motif very funny if the halla was an absolute menace to society.#halla (threatening). the halla is committing atrocities like you would not Believe.#solas wandering up to a dalish clan and locking eyes with this mild looking white deer thing and just hearing kill bill sirens#andruil/ghil could even be like a somewhat cursed celene/briala parallel if briala had actually agreed to sell out her people#in favour of being's celene's lover/right hand instead.#so she narced on dirthamen who then gets killed/partially absorbed by falon'din#with most of his followers scattered/killed/forcibly converted to his service as falon'din goes on a rampage#until mythal steps in to make him knock it off#which then makes the others nervous that she was capable of stopping him + might start actively doing her job as Justice again#so they get together and set up an ides of march type of event that takes her out#and then are like ''yay! we can finally roll around in the blight even more like we wanted to :)''#so solas decides to just wall them off entirely#who knows what sylaise or june are up to in this theory#i assume they were just playing minecraft creative mode or the sims and didn't notice anything. just vibing.#anyway i wish this had come up bc i was deeply curious about my boy dirthamen....#he's the god of secrets! this dude should still be kicking around in some form. get back in there.#at the very least he should have a weird little cult or something remaining#personally i'm declaring that dirthamen was a spirit like cole.#who had the capability to remove memories#and that's a) how mythal managed to force andruil to ''forget'' how to access the void#and b) why the others killed him - perhaps to get it back? and why his followers were terrified without his protection#bc they had way too much classified information about all this world-endingly bad stuff

BAFTA TV award Most Memorable Moment nominee:
Bridgerton: “THE” carriage scene where Colin admits his true feelings for Penelope.
To borrow @clairi-yos’ words because it sums up how I see feel about this nomination as well:
“this is the first Bridgerton s3 nomination that highlights Luke, who outside of the Polin fandom has so far been getting overlooked despite his acting this season being incredible.” 👇👇👇👇
👏👏👏👏 And now here are gifs (made by me) of Luke being his incredible self as Colin professing his love to Pen, a scene we all have burned into our memory.
Not one of us had any issue reciting his love declaration even when Netflix tested us with their “first initial of each word” post last year.
Luke deserves this recognition, and Nicola too as they absolutely brought the best out of each other this season.

something about how every time a targ tries to enact real genuine reform to westeros/the dynasty as a whole everything crumples in on itself. viserys naming rhaenyra heir leading to the dance, ensuring that no woman will ever inherit the throne in her own right out of fear of it happening again. daeron 2 establishing a final peace with dorne, (ending the cycle of attempted war of conquest to tense peace to attempted war of conquest) but the inclusion of dornishmen in court being a catalyst for the blackfyre rebellions, igniting a new cycle of attempted conquest every generation or so. egg genuinely being a ruler for the people with the best intentions and then accidently causing the tragedy at summerhall (not even mentioning the fact that daeron 2 literally built summerhall...), his attempts to end the incest foiled by his own children who romanticize the old targs. bc no matter how much they want to change for the better, they are still targaryens of old valyria. they can't help but look back.

I need to marinate more thoughts for this but. okay so gravity falls au. partially inspired by this. fiddleford has the memory gun and he's This Close to using it on himself to erase what he saw in the portal. he pauses. he thinks, just because I forget doesn't mean stanford will stop building the portal. he thinks it's all or nothing. he goes to stanford's shack in the woods. he sneaks in through the side door and sees stanford sleeping on the couch. it's dark outside. the lights are out. fiddleford can barely make out the shape of his former-friend's body. fiddleford looks at Stanford one last time. he types into the memory gun, Stanford Pines. he points the gun. half a second before he fires, Stanford stirs, as if sensing the danger he is in. he manages to get out "who-" before fiddleford, panicking, pulls the trigger before he can chicken out completely.
stanley wakes up on a couch he doesn't remember falling asleep in, with a terrified looking man standing over him, holding a glowing gun, and thinks this is one hell of a situation i've gotten myself into
#mads posts#gravity falls#gravity falls au#fiddleford mcgucket#fiddleford h mcgucket#stanley pines#stan pines#grunkle stan#LISTENNNNNN#THE POSSIBILITIES THAT ARISE FROM EXISTENCE OF THE MEMORY GUN#UNLIMITED#what if ! stan didnt know he had to get ford back#what if fiddleford fucks up soooooo so bad#will he use the gun on himself to wipe his own memory and abandon everything?#will he try to fix what he's done to stanley?#will he try to fix the PORTAL?#who knows? not me. idfk#personally im leaning towards fiddleford FREAKS OUT and just books it#as soon as he realizes that this guy isnt stanford#and then the next day he sees this really confused dude in town and everyone is asking him if he's that scientist in the woods#and stan ofc is like 'the who what in the where? also where am i'#bc through the power of handwaving i am declaring the memory gun erased EVERTYTHING related to stanford#and bc the journey and the town are so closely tied to ford stan forgot everything#eventually someone offers stan the money for a tour and he says yes bc free money#and takes this dude (who tf is stanford)'s identity#clearly this stanford guy is gone and not coming back because there are literally no signs that anyone has been alive in the goddamn house#(this is because ford is bad at taking care of himself and stan has been busy dying of an infected burn)#and fiddleford is like. fuck. i fucked up.#uses the memory gun on himself to forget what he's done#and then bc he doesnt remember what he's done he then uses it on himself to forget the portal

Sometimes when people say "innerworlds aren't real" they really mean "stop talking about your innerworld, you're making us look cringe"

Leon was still annoyed that his boyfriend had gone and stolen three Pokemon just so that Hop and himself could have starters, but he could never stay mad at Wes for long. Especially not with that damn smile.
When thinking about or drafting the Pokemon fan game idea I had, the tutorial/beginning sequence involved Wes stealing the Galar starters so that he could give them to Hop and Leon (and Gloria), and Hop meets him as he's running from the Pokemon breeder.

That Mothers Might Live is a 1938 American short drama film directed by Fred Zinnemann. In 1939, at the 11th Academy Awards, it won an Oscar for Best Short Subject (One-Reel).
The short is a brief account of Hungarian physician Ignaz Semmelweis and his discovery of the need for cleanliness in 19th-century maternity wards, thereby significantly decreasing maternal mortality, and of his struggle to gain acceptance of his idea. Although Semmelweis ultimately failed in his lifetime, later scientific luminaries advanced his work in spirit like microbiologistLouis Pasteur, who provided a scientific theoretical explanation of Semmelweis' observations by helping develop the germ theory of disease, and Dr. Joseph Lister, who revolutionized medicine by putting Pasteur's research to practical use. 11th Academy Awards - Wikipedia

as a kid i didn't know that maaji and babaji aren't the words for grandmother and grandfather in punjabi, they mean mother and father but everyone in my family regardless of age or genetic distance calls them maaji and babaji, they are/were the matriarch and patriarch of the family extended to the entire clan, like even now long after both are gone they are maaji and babaji no one else is we all call our parents other names because those names belong to Them.. paintings of them hanging in the house, their belongings still kept in the home, the whole house a sort of informal shrine to them and their legacy (whatever that means) with the knowledge that they were complicated people but so deeply loved that even 10-30 years on no one can fill their shoes. it's so fascinating, i want to dissect us all
