Why do we lie in empty bathtubs when we feel cold?

Because empty bathtubs are cold.

Because empty bathtubs are there to gather our tears.

Why do we lie in empty bathtubs when we feel lonely?

Because empty bathtubs know the silence we fear.

Why do we lie in empty bathtubs when we feel empty.

Because empty bathtubs are empty.

A Letter;

You have seen my soul before

I have bared it to you.

It's strangely easy

To spill my guts out onto this A4 paper

With a blue inked pen

And imagine you reading it.

Why will this time be different

When every time prior you sliced my heart in two

I never gave up on you

Much as I tried.

You feel mandatory to love

Though you are not

But it's not who I am

To feel empty towards the one

Who first held my hand.

My first love

I write to you now

On this ink stained paper

Damp from hot tears

And smudged with words

That cause an ache to see

Outside of me.

On this ink stained paper

I continue to bare my stained soul

Because my soul is also stained

With memories of you that won't wash away

Both joyful and dreadful

They are within me

They will stay.

I fold up the letter containing my deepest confessions

Of how I feel towards you

But was never brave enough to say

I mail you the envelope

Containing my ink stained soul

I hope you read it and understand

That though you hurt me

I do love you, Dad.
