Basic Trope: A character has more than one relationship at a time.

Straight: Alice and Bob and Charlie are all openly dating each other.

Exaggerated:

Alice and Bob are married to or dating a dozen other people. They have a ridiculously large number of these marriages.

Everyone in the work, even the background characters and the characters that only appear once, are involved in one huge relationship.

Downplayed:

Alice and Bob are described as being in or agreeing to an open relationship, but none of their other lovers are ever seen.

Alice is dating multiple people, but said people aren't dating each other.

Alice and Bob are in a committed marriage while allowing each to have hookups outside it.

A group of couples are openly affectionate around each other up to including sex.

Justified:

Alice, Bob, and Charlie live in a time or place where (for largely pragmatic reasons) this is the norm.

Neither Alice nor Bob get jealous easily, playing on the more positive end of I Want My Beloved to Be Happy mentally, and so don't mind if the other has another relationship.

They're all in love with each other, like that sort of thing and in the Free-Love Future setting, that's okay.

Most people don’t use up all their sick days. That means they are allowing themselves to be paid less. You should not feel guilty. America is weird and encourages you to work until your body falls apart.

of course then I got into work today and realized that a) I’d forgotten the phone call I was supposed to be on with the author from hell b) I’d gotten an email about arranging a recording I’d also forgotten was yesterday and c) I had almost 70 unread emails in my inbox so I’m not sure it was worth it

(I mean, it was. but also it wasn’t. also why is my life just like this right now, I know why, it’s because it’s the busy season right now and also I’m just kind of a nervous wreck for unrelated reasons)

I didn’t pick up on that but NGL that was when I realized the whole movie was going to be about mirroring, which @sidewaystime and I have discussed so much it’s ridiculous, so I was slightly distracted.

Ooh I always thought “fly or die” meant Bran HAD to warg into a dragon or winter would win. I never thought of him being the successor to Bloodraven though. That is neat! I thought Bronn was from the Vale?

yeah of course the Bloodraven connection makes sense IF (big if!) only Targs/Valyrians can ride dragons, which might or might not be true! I am just highly skeptical and also a bit annoyed by secret Targ theories for a number of reason, so if it HAS to be a Targ I’d rather it was a psychic/spiritual connection like Bran and Bloodraven than “only Targ blood gets you on a dragon”, which is a tired trope and also a bit icky.

I expanded on Bronn’s mysterious origins here! In my opinion we shouldn’t put much weight on where we meet him in the story because I’m under the impression that sellswords wander around a lot.

Why do we have to make villains sympathetic now? We already had a Thanos movie.

On twitter I was complaining about the lack of villains who approach the world like “love what you do and you’ll never work a day in your life,” and @katrinastratford pointed out the ideal villain is Doom.

Doom revels in his role. Doom is the villain we deserve. Everyone else could learn from Doom.
