Wow, I had no idea of the emotions I'd feel looking back over this prototype. During the creative process I was oozing strength 💪🏼, I felt empowered to explore function vs form. My inner goddess was in abundance🌋. On reflection wow what a difference a few days make. I still sense the strength, perhaps more so though because of it's bold, raw, dominated unedited appearance however I now also see and feel escapism. Did I create the bars to block out my surrounds & to protect my studio bubble & mind OR because I felt trapped??? Hindsight possibly a little of both 💥. Creativity, creators and design (part 1)

I have seen creatives sticking on to their creations protecting it justifying it and ulitimately denying it the evolution that could happen. Here's what I think.

A creator should take care of the product till it is meaningful and ready and then set it out. Detach from the creation and watch from afar learn how people interact with it, understand them and how the creation can help them...By this I mean evolution.

The first telephone isn't todays smart phone, neither is the first car nor the first TV.

A creator must at times abandon his creation, let it evolve let it be accepted and rejected, work constantly to make a meaning however.

A product that can't be used by a complete stranger without seeing its manual is the same as a bird that was abandoned with its wings chopped off...it wouldn't survive, well miracles do happen and if one sweet soul decides to re-design the product to make it such that it doesn't need a manual...then yes the chick lives...

More creations will eventually lead to more jobs.

Trains came and so did Locopilots, aeroplanes came and so did pilots. Good design should create an opportunity, an opportunity that is socially good, an opportunity that is financially viable....

Any product or system that you make if encourages a digital life away from the physical world is a curse, it could make humans indifferent to one another.

Design isn't just to make life easier or faster, it is to make life meaningful, unending news feeds don't necessarily add meaning to life, on the otherhand it slows down interaction between humans and the real world.

Products that make life easier need not be a box that teleports humans to places but could also be a system that shows them the best possible way they could travel, or maybe pick the perfect time to start so they don't have to get caught in traffic or maybe finding the perfect combination of public transport which could take you to your destination

Life could be made easier and meaningful by innovative a product by understanding the basic and initial purpose.

For example, a mobile phone's basic and initial purpose was not to call but to contact, which is perfectly being addressed today.

An Ode to the Airport

As a young boy, my parents brought my brother and I to the airport rather frequently. I remember the endless running. There, a place of commerce/travel meant different for a little boy with a wide imagination. It’s a wonderland with few discomfort. We couldn’t afford much but what could we afford? We enjoyed the same air of luxury as leisure travellers, but mostly breathed deeply into the freedom that was available. Free playgrounds in free air-conditioning, affordable food at the staff canteen and an endless space to run and place to imagine.
