Hello!
I was just reading your pinned, and wondering, if you're willing to share, what dictation software you've had good experience with? Its something that would occasionally help me, but it ends up with so many typos or mistakes needing correction that Im overusing my hands anyway. /Do you have any other tips, diction, maybe speed, idk, that helps? Maybe theres a specific method to it?
Im trying to imagine what a blahaj costume looks like, it sounds cozy I think. Hope you have a great time with it :)
Hi!
I used two types of dictation software, I use dragon dictate on my laptop and the inbuilt Apple voice control on my phone and iPad. There are some differences between them but I find them about the same in terms of accuracy. The main difference is that Dragon is incredibly expensive
Using them is definitely one of these things that gets easier over time, When I first started using them five or six years ago it was really hard with a steep Learning curve. There were a lot of commands to memorise and you have to learn to talk very differently than you would if you're talking to a person. I find it's most accurate when you speak with absolutely no emotion or Tone, like you're reading out loud the most boring text you can think of. I found this easier for academic texts, but it's still weird when I'm writing social media posts using contractions and slang.
On my phone I recommend using voice control (in the accessibility settings) rather than the dictation option on the keyboard, even if you're only using it for dictation, because it's a lot easier to go back to correct mistakes with your voice using voice control over the dictate button.
I'm not entirely sure what the voice control situation is like on android phones. I used to have one, but moved to Apple because at the time it was a lot better. I also think that there might be in built voice control options for Windows computers now, but I don't have any experience with these at all.
I hope this is helpful, and if you have any more questions feel free to ask.:-)

This might be a long shot, but does anyone anyone know a free writing software that's compatible with Dragon Naturally Speaking, the dictation software? By compatible, I mean a software where you can dictate directly onto the thr page without having to use that extra dictation box.
I've been thinking of starting to write stories (or trying to, at least), but I can't do so without using Dragon. I can type some, but I lack both speed and stamina. Half a page is pretty much my limit, and even that takes really long for me.
I'm using MS Word for uni/work, but I can't use it for non-uni/non-work stuff as the computer it's on doesn't belong to me. On my personal laptop, I've installed LibreOffice. However, in LibreOffice, you can only dictate using the dictation box and once you've transferred the text from the box to the page, you can't edit the text via speech or add anything to it smoothly. So, it's really not suited for writing something in more than one sitting.
Does anyone have a suggestion?

Skeletour spoilers below! (mostly ghoul stuff)
Pittsburgh - GA floor
Pre-show: arrived around 1:15 and hopped in line, was like, only 15 people back or so? then when more queues opened, my line buddies and I booked it and ended up first in front of our door, this was helpful for me. While waiting, saw Vanessa! my face will likely be in GBB since they did most of the filming right in front of us. While between takes I gave her a sticker of a ghost wearing a raincoat since it was so rainy out; she gave me a mummy dust 🥹
Despite being GA, AND my ticket initially not scanning (thank you kind people at the box office for a fast and easy remedy) I ended up 2-3 people off barrier, depending on who moved where at what time. I had a great view of everyone, except Cirrus, which feels illegal. I had many a ghoul interaction (ghinteraction??): and I will never be the same again.
AND! Met some amazing, wonderful people 🤍🤍🤍 Truly a night of all time for me.
Peacefield: immaculate vibes. the curtain is beautiful. the cut outs for the lights and things are gorgeous, it looks so soft, I cried. It was at the moment of the drop I realized I'd be in direct eyeline with New Air Ghoul (are we calling him Storm, like how Rain got his name? it fits him after seeing him, I think personally, even if I was rooting for Caelus, anyways) and Aurora for the ritual. Also much Dew, Phantom, and Rain, and of course Papa.
And I'm sorry Papa but I do see all the special appearances and clips and everything so tonight was about my ghouls 🤍 (love you though, don't get me wrong)
All the songs were amazing, Pookie sounded incredible the whole time. At one point, might have been Faith? I think it was Faith, at the very end. Yes. Faith, is, mine: BUTTMUNCHES.
Now, I know these ghouls are The Twink Squad (even Mountain, boy you count as a Long Twink) so having Storm is a nice addition to the fauna. But also, I did not fully appreciate just how fucking SMALL they all are. Twinks of all time. I love them. I could absolutely take them all, in a fight or not lmao
ugh easiest way to do this okay maybe one by one
Also, lets talk about New Ghoulette (Haze? she, like Phantom, a ghoul of many names) - she's STUNNING and she boogies HARD. Y'all are sleeping on her for real for real. I only have that one little drabble so far with her and V and let me tell you, I must write more immediately. She had a little dance party with Rain (who is living up to the pack whore allegations). Also, when Cirrus finished her Mummy Dust keytar moment, she was bowing to her, and they danced a lot! Precious. Her poor veil (wimple??) kept being blown around by the smoke tho
Next on the line-up, Cirrus. Like I said I couldn't really see her, but I could tell she was dancing with Haze. Keys sounded overall amazing of course, what else would we expect! She was amazing on her keytar, seeing that solo in person. God. The volume at which I screamed mother should probably be concerning. I'm excited to see more of her tonight since I'm in seats and will have a higher view of the whole stage!
Mountain: BOY. Augh. so many drum cam moments, looks amazing in his uniform, I love that the tallest ghoul is also at the top of the riser it's just so funny to me. Phantom, Rain, and Dew all played towards him at one point or another. Very Big, Very Nice, came ZOOMING out to toss sticks and quickly dipped (mood)
Next we have Storm! It's hitting for me idk what to tell you. CUTIE. PATTOOTIE. Plays with his jacket a lot. Also at various points was air guitaring behind Dew on his solos, or playing air drums. Excellent heart hand catcher and thrower. He seemed to be having a really good time! OH! Snaps, snaps into the mic for DATHOML! They all did it. That was fun, sounded very cool acoustically. His vocals are SO GOOD. Also threw up some devil horns a few times. Phantom was by him a bit, especially during KTGG. Because he was straight ahead of me, I couldn't really see if there was Smooch, but I'll see better tonight! At one point I pointed right at him and gave him a heart and he pointed and gave it back, he's precious and I already love him! OH WAIT! When Rory had her cowbell, he was knocking his head in time with her hitting it. Did I mention he's adorable? Oh another!!! some of the notes he hits????? WOOF
Then Aurora: TINY QUEEN. Impeccable vocals, of course. When you're in direct eye line the whole night its hard to not feel like theyre not singing directly to you but you know what, I'm the god of my own experiences so I choose to believe she was 😌  lots of tambourine, had a princess dance party with Rainy, her nails are also so long and I loved how they looked with the costumes. So many sparkles ahhhhh.
To the front of the stage!
Phantom: I swear to you, this bug has no joints and endless energy. Did his crowd work running back and forth getting people to scream, someone on our side kept being loud when he was asking us to be quiet so we did get to see a Creechur head snap and a VERY pointed 🤫.  But he's so fucking talented, they all are. Played the acoustic parts of course, danced with Storm and Rory. Many cute Rainy cuddles. I couldn't see how he was responding to Rain at the start of Umbra (more on that in a second) but that was the only time he really rested. He puts his whole pussy into the show. He's amazing, and his crowd work is unparalleled. Also a bit of a menace on stage sneaking up on Dew and Rain ahah, and Dew smacked his ass at one point! Fuck me if I remember which damn song tho
NY BELOVED PRINCESS, RAIN: seemed to be having a tough time with his monitor because he kept having to sneakily adjust it. Bass was CRISPY. Felt that shit pounding in my chest and my pu-*shotgun noises*. Very Princess, many flamingo poses, a few very graceful arm waves to hype everyone and keep us all singing. While sitting during Umbra watching Dew and Cirrus do their little battle, he kept making jerk off motions and giving an unimpressed hand wave. Danced with literally everyone with lots of Bug and Dew cuddles - as I said, never beating the pack whore allegations. IDK what they inject him with during Cirice, because mans goes WILD. Jacked his bass off, 10/10, seeing that 10 feet from my face is an experience I will hold onto forever. He was also wild during Mummy Dust, licked his bass at least twice that I could see, and his palm a few times during the show
AND FUCKING THEN.
I was perceived by Dewdrop. We shared a few silly 'sup chin nods. I didn't get a pick, BUT. I  got a full Dewdrop blessing. Little guy was feeling very pious tonight, but that blessing.... its gonna live in my heart forever.
Papa did point out his boot, said he broke his foot in two places just by kicking so much ass. Shared a bug fistbump in Faith! It was cute watching him do his steps to his stage because he kind of has to hop a little gingerly, it was precious. He's an insane guitarist, like honestly bro, how dare you. Mummy Dust cannon jack-off was incredible. Did I mime it back with additional sustained eye contact? Absolutely. You don't get to bless me and get out unscathed. Dew and Rain were RIGHT IN FRONT OF MY SALAD for Year Zero. There was no choke, bite, or smooch, but Dew and Rain were very close that whole part and looked like a kiss was incoming. Teases. Dew and Rain were also super cute during Dance Macabre! They were faced away from us kind of leaning into each other and nodding and gesturing at all the audience members on the screen before turning around, it was really sweet. They looked like proud dads lmao. Man also fucking LAUNCHES picks like holy shit. The first one he tossed made me jump because of fast it came. At bows he was launching them into the seats too. He's unsettling and he knows it. I love that for him. Beat off his guitar when Papa said security was there to keep us safe from them
Oh speaking of Cirice, it happened to the person like 1-2 people in front of me. So again, DIRECT EYE LINE makes it feel like its you when you're that close and I just. God.
I cried during Peacefield, The Future is a Foreign Land, and He Is.
Ah He Is. That's when Dew did his blessing for me, he was cheesing so hard under that mask, you could see it. The backdrop was all stars and it was so fucking pretty. AND THE SKELETON CASSOCK. Don't get me started, that's just unreasonable. It's also so nice to see everyone's facial expressions  especially Papa!
Of course at the end we got Squammer, with a Papa and Dew first bump! And Papa said the last place Dew would put his boot is up all of our asses. Papa also said he'd fuck us all if he had time, but we all could have kisses instead. Also made the old material joke about how we might not like old stuff, and Dew kept pointing at himself (also pointed at himself during the dudes that wouldn't dad line) and we all cheered for him because yes Dew, we do love old men here.
God there's something I'm missing with Phantom fuck.
I'VE REMEMBERED!
During Year Zero, Rain and Dew wouldn't move for Papa, so Papa walked around Rain with a frustrated head shake and pretended to smack Dew could've been another gesture? But looked like an affectionate smack. And while Bug was originally standing in line with the two of them he stepped to the side with a "here you go" type hand gesture. Phantom and Bug aren't beating the vamp4vamp allegations either
Oh, wait, back to Cirice again. Remember when I said Rain was jacking that bass off real good - yes. While Dew and Phantom were fucking through their guitars right in front of him (metaphorical, but intent clocked) and then proceeded to WIPE HIS HAND OVER HIS FACE. fucks sake.
At the end, I was so overwhelmed I just stood there for a solid 5 minutes absorbing and recalibrating. 15/10 experience, I will absolutely be doing pit again, and I can't wait for Philly tonight for another perspective on the stage! Begging them to pull out con clavi after hearing them sound check it while I was in the bathroom, pray to Luci for me lmao
OH AND A NOTE ABOUT THE POUCHES!!! We got our phones unlocked OUTSIDE the venue, which was great because there wasn't a mass bottleneck of people. but apparently that's where it is now, outside!

Dis-like-Dysentery
I have a lot of very specific headcanons about Auradon Prep, and one of them is the fact that Jay is both a Smart Guy, and also chronically incapable of turning in assignments on time. For. Reasons.
this might be about one of those reasons.
+
Carlos looks up from his plate as Jay wanders over. “Dude, where were you? We started eating without you.”
“Talking to a teacher. I submitted an assignment wrong, or something.”
Carlos nods. He’s got a fork dangling from one hand, and there’s a leaf stuck in his hair. Sunlit from behind, Jay’s pretty sure that he’s the prettiest boy on this side of the barrier. “Oh, man. Was it Demorra? She’s super strict about the rules, especially for the online stuff. I could’ve helped you figure it out bro, you don’t have to get through her bureaucratic shit on your own.”
Jay sets his tray down on the opposite side of the table. “Nah. It was Williams.”
Carlos frowns. “The international lit teacher? Really?”
They’ve been reading through Jay’s lit assignments together. Auradon expects them to type up all of their homework, so he’s been getting by with the hacked dictation program on his laptop and locking himself in the bathroom to read his essays out loud into the program with the minimum of background noise.
There’s a peer writing tutor who does proofreading two nights a week for free, but Jay’s not gonna take his shitty essays in to her when he’s pretty sure he’ll just get laughed right back out of the student study room for the giant default font Carlos set on his computer.
It doesn’t exactly make reading his own assignments easier, but it doesn’t make it worse either, so they’re calling it functional for now. Auradon Prep is all about “helping students embrace their unique academic talents”, so Carlos and Evie are both being pulled for more advanced classes, which is great for them, and terrible for Jay’s essays because it’s seriously starting to cut into their free time.
That, and the trouble they’ve been getting up to after hours.
The assistant gym teacher still hasn’t figured out who to blame for French braiding all the climbing ropes together.
“She couldn’t read my handwriting.”
“Fuck.”
That’s about the shape of it. Handwritten assignments are few and far between, but Jay can’t bullshit his way through all of them. “Haha, yeah.”
Carlos thunks his head down onto the table. “Ugh. Fuck. I can make you a handwriting font on the computer, but that’ll make in-class assignments worse if you can’t keep it up.”
“Yup.”
He sits up. There’s a dent on his forehead from pressing it into the table. “Eat.”
“Not hungry,” Jay says as cheerfully as he can manage. It’s not gonna fool Carlos, but he’s not gonna show weakness in front of the royal rabble. “Anyway, we’re not going to the honor board. She’s willing to settle it with some sorta evaluation. Have you heard of dyslexia before?”
Carlos blinks. “Dyslexia? No. I mean. It’s gotta be dis from like, disinterested, disintegrating, some sort of anti? Or else it’s dys from like, dysentery. Some sort of illness, maybe. Lex has gotta be from lexicon, lexicography. Something to do with either anti-words or a words illness? Does she think you’re sick of words?”
Jay shrugs. “She said it’s why I’m bad at reading. Wants me to do an assessment so she can know what’s going on.”
Carlos already has his phone out. He’s typing with one hand, the other one curled around his plate in a defensive hunch that’s almost casual. “Huh. How’s that going for her so far?”
Jay snorts. “Fab. Nah, she didn’t do it yet. It’s a whole special test that she’s gotta send me down to the psych for.”
“Can you reject it?”
“If I wanna meet with the honor board and explain why I apparently have great handwriting, but only when they can’t see me do the assignments.”
“Fuck.”
“Yeah. At least she was cool about it.”
Carlos groans. “Your handwriting sucks, dude. You’re not sick of writing, you’re just— your handwriting sucks.”
“Yeah, and my fucking reading comprehension. I—“ Jay cuts himself off abruptly as the shadow of more people falls across their lunch table. “Hey, guys.”
Mal sets her lunch tray down on Jay’s left side, leaving Ben the spot on his right. Evie’s not eating with them today. They have other friends in theory, but between Doug’s science club buddies and Carlos’s general disinterest in socializing with other humans, they didn’t bother picking a table large enough for anyone else.
“Sorry,” Ben apologizes, even as he’s nudging his shoulder against Jay’s. It’s nice not being the only tall one sometimes. “I couldn’t help overhearing.”
Jay leans back into the contact. “We were talking out loud, dude. It happens. You got any hot tips for the stupid assessment I’ve gotta do later?”
“Have you tried being better?” Mal suggests. “I find that cheating works great. I could find you a spell to let one of us borrow your hands for a few hours, and so long as you can tell us what you want to write, we can control the muscles and get better handwriting than your usual chicken scratch special.”
“Hey.”
“Would that work if you can’t see the paper?” Ben asks curiously.
Mal frowns. “No. Not unless I modify the spell to possess your eyes too.”
Jay represses a shudder. “Thanks, but no thanks, M. I like my eyes in one piece.”
Carlos is scrolling rapidly on his phone, hanging half-over the table in an attempt to get closer to the three of them. “Dude, dyslexia is a brain thing that affects how you process visual input of words— aw, shit.”
Bad. That’s the bad-news tone. Jay’s heart drops traitorously into his stomach, which suddenly isn’t feeling the tater tots on his lunch tray. “What?”
Carlos shakes his head. “Nothing too bad. Just, I think Williams is right. You’ve said you’re shit at reading fast cause the words all look the same, right? Like, you can’t scan to identify them, you’ve gotta sound each one out.”
Jay smashes a tater tot with the side of his fork. The destruction doesn’t make his gut feel any better. It’s not that he’s mad, it’s just— he doesn’t want to do this. Analyzing his brain sucks. He did the whole week of required therapy that the student disciplinary council required after the stuff with Mal’s mom, and he’s so fucking done with Auradon grown-ups pretending to understand why his head’s fucked up. “Yeah, so?”
Carlos waves the phone at him. “So that’s what this is. You’ve got a brain disorder.”
“We can fix it, right?”
He wiggles a hand back and forth. “Ehh. Kinda. There’s techniques to make it easier, but it’s sorta like— your brain is wired for AC power input, and words are DC. It’s a misalignment. We can make an adaptor, but we can’t rip out your brain wiring.”
“I could,” Mal offers. “I love doing illegal magic.”

Hi! I'm a big fan of ur art, I'm not sure if this has been asked before or you've already said but what do you use to draw, digital and traditional? I'm thinking of getting an ipad air M1 (currently working on a Galaxy tab a8) but want to maybe hear ur thoughts first, thanks x
Awk omg thank you!! I don’t think I have been asked actually lmao at least not recently so 👀
For digital art I draw on an iPad Pro and use procreate!! But before that, I was drawing on a huion kamvas 22 plus, and used krita ;v; also had a wacom before that but don’t remember the model, it was one that didn’t have a screen and was my first art tablet. Still have the huion but it has kinda just become an extra monitor for me to watch YouTube on as I draw since I personally prefer procreate ;^^
For traditional the paper completely depends on what is sitting nearby lol, but I have been using promarkers since I was literally 11 years old and faber-castell colouring pencils were my saving grace during my art gcse years
If you’re considering an iPad, if possible I’d recommend going to an apple store and testing the display models!! Procreate (and a load of other stuff) is generally pre-downloaded on them, so you can see how the apps feel. I was having a lotta trouble deciding on the screen size and testing them out physically helped me decide on getting a bigger one in the end

Definitely the pain is the worst thing about whatever the fuck is up with me ("probably fibro" is the conclusion from the doctors) but honestly, I'm also not a fan of my hands (where it's worst) just not working
Because of my sensory issues, I tend to drink room temp stuff at home, but I was in the office today, and I went to the shop to get a bottle of pop, which was in the fridge, and after holding the cold bottle on the walk back, my right hand just started spasming non-stop and still isn't 100% back to normal
Like, my mouse was just constantly flying around the screen, and I had to type almost entirely with my left hand...
I don't even know what the solution would be, both of my hands can be bad, and my thumb twitches on track-balls as well, and I'm sick of paying for expensive keyboards and mice to figure out slight advantages here and there

Sometimes being disabled gives you unexpected skills.
For example, because of my limited hand function I am excellent at using the phonetic alphabet to spell words.

What Is Medical Dictation Software? A Beginner’s Guide
Documentation is a vital part of medical practice—but it doesn’t have to be a burden. With physicians spending hours each day typing clinical notes, many are turning to medical dictation software to speed up the process and reduce burnout.
But what exactly is medical dictation software? How does it work? And how can it benefit your workflow?
This guide answers all those questions and introduces the essential tools transforming healthcare documentation in 2025.
Tumblr media
What Is Medical Dictation Software?
Medical dictation software is a speech-to-text tool designed specifically for healthcare professionals. It allows users to speak naturally, and the software automatically transcribes their words into clinical notes, prescriptions, referrals, and more.
Unlike general-purpose voice recognition tools, medical dictation software understands medical jargon, diagnoses, drug names, and procedure terms, making it highly accurate for use in a clinical environment.
How Does It Work?
The process is simple:
The clinician speaks into a microphone or mobile app.
The software processes the audio using advanced AI and Natural Language Processing (NLP).
The spoken input is instantly converted into written text.
Many tools also support EHR integration, inserting text directly into patient records.
Some apps also include voice commands, so doctors can navigate templates or enter data fields without touching a keyboard.
Key Benefits of Medical Dictation Software
⏱ Saves Time: Dictation is up to 4x faster than typing.
🧠 Reduces Burnout: Less manual entry means more time for patient care.
📋 Improves Accuracy: Designed to understand medical terminology.
📱 Mobile Access: Dictate from your phone or tablet anytime, anywhere.
🔒 HIPAA-Compliant: Secure documentation that protects patient data.
Who Uses Medical Dictation Tools?
Medical dictation is widely used by:
Physicians in all specialties
Nurse practitioners and PAs
Medical scribes
Telehealth providers
Physical therapists and home care professionals
Whether you work in a hospital, clinic, or remote setting, these tools streamline your documentation process.
Popular Use Cases
Clinical Notes: Dictate SOAP notes or patient histories directly into the EHR.
Referrals & Orders: Generate accurate documents without manual typing.
Telemedicine: Dictate while on virtual consults.
Medical Scribes: Use dictation to quickly record physician-patient interactions.
Looking for the Right Tool?
There are many options available in 2025—each with different features, pricing, and specialties. If you're unsure where to start, check out our curated list of the Top 5 Medical Dictation Software to help you choose the best tool for your needs.
Conclusion
Medical dictation software is no longer a luxury—it’s a necessity for modern clinicians who want to spend less time typing and more time treating patients. By understanding what it is, how it works, and how it can fit into your daily workflow, you're one step closer to a more efficient, less stressful workday.
Whether you're just getting started or looking to upgrade your current tool, voice-powered documentation is changing how healthcare gets done—one word at a time.

Microsoft bought Nuance, who created the Dragon dictation software I used in my MacBook when my chronic hand issues flared up.
Now that software is no longer supported on my Mac, even though I paid full price and trained it to recognise words it didn’t know and my accent.
There is nothing to replace it that works to include punctuation and corrections except if I only use Microsoft Word. The original software worked with Scrivener and text docs. I almost never use Word because it forces me to think about editing and grammar when I’m only doing a draft. Also I prefer Scrivener because it lets me snapshot pieces of writing as I go and easily find and compare them.
Basically this sucks, because I used this software for work when my hands didn’t work, and I’d use it now - if it still fucking worked, which it doesn’t.
Thanks Microsoft for not honouring those who used the product before you bought it.
