#hello again everyone. how's it going #isat loop #in stars and time #isat fanart #in stars and time fanart #isat #lucabyteart #isat spoilers #so. had this idea Before getting my hands on the artbook and being validated. literally have a voice note from 4:30am on the 8th where #i frantically noted down this just horrid horrid horrid caption because i'd been musing on the sasasap Dress line all day i suppose #just kind of rotating in my brain the way any kind of first time trying on new clothes for them would be .#just absolutely mental breakdown material and not one i think would be recovered from quickly. they hate being in their own skin #like. a lot? like a lot. the collateral of any kind of transfemme read was barely in my mind until it ended up relevant again while i was #actively working on this. because christ that's a bad combo. 2x different forms of body dysphoria in one. maybe even 3x somehow #plus any scenario where they get clothes is... likely gifted. something they react viciously negatively to in game and i doubt #would improve thereafter. just a veritable katamari of disgust and self-loathing #like i was mostly just thinking abt how a lot of our collective depictions of loop being alienated from their body are rather abstract #in a body horror way mostly. on account of loop being more of a metaphor than a person half the time. so i think i wanted to depict #something closer to just. a human level of body dysphoria. no focus on the whole duplicate thing just... raw disgust for the self #but with the addition of recent discussion and playing ball more with the she/her loop and transfem loop angle...#scenario of leaning into femininity to try throw off suspicion on who they are PLUS realising they might want that PLUS the party #trying to use this to bond with them PLUS body dysphoria PLUS new!gender dysphoria PLUS the usual revulsion for wanting and desire #like. that is a catastrophic combination . not coming out of that one without it getting worse for a few weeks thereafter #that's a real lash out at everyone around them and then recede in shame type breakdown. which im sure looks interesting from #the party's pov because jesus christ that touched a nerve something awful (<- they only have half the context AT BEST)#. so . there's your free scenario to ponder on if you'd want to. seeing as ive done a picture without a shitload of words on it for once #ALSO don't get smart with me in the tags about the mirror test being an absolutely ass test in most regards re: self-awareness #or that things like minnows pass it. i'm a fellow pedant dont worry. it's just that minnow doesn't really have the same ring as dog yknow?#this is supposed to be like an absolutely excruciatingly self loathing thought spoken aloud of a caption. it's pithy and cruel on purpose #and more than a little inspired by (reblogged yesterday) liminal space's 'there is no other dog. it's just you'

My less popular opinion (and what I believe to be implied by the art in Lost Days) is that rather than waking up in a fully grown body Jason didn’t actually complete his puberty until after his Lazarus pit dip while he was on his murder tour. Imagine you’re tied up in a basement in Berlin getting interrogated by a teenager and his voice is cracking the entire time and if you laugh he’s going to shoot you

#Late puberty Jason truthers rise #Egon calling up Talia like ‘did you send me a middle schooler what is this’. ‘He’s technically high school aged actually’#he would’ve been like 18 when he finally regained consciousness but the way he’s drawn could easily be mistaken for 15 #I know people love the body dysmorphia angst of Jason waking up big but I offer you this: Jason wakes up looking basically the same to a #world that has moved on without him and is unrecognizable. His death/injuries stunted him he existed for years in a state of suspension #while the world passed him by. He was on pause while everyone kept moving on and he didn’t get unpaused until the Lazarus pit and he has #to scramble to catch up. He’s actually 18 but the last thing he remembers is being 15 and his body reflects this state #and then once his mind is finally back online puberty hits him like a truck. Just look at the difference between how Jason is drawn #immediately after his dip in the Lazarus pit vs the end of lost days when his training arc is over #It implies it could’ve been multiple years but in order to fit with the timeline of other comics I personally don’t think it #would’ve been that long. I think he just sprouted up like a weed #Jason Todd #dc #I think Jason is technically still growing by the time he’s red hood. #arcane #arcaneedit #gifmaking #reminder that if ur not a fan of the coloring and sharpening then i dont need to hear ur opinion so fuck off and make your own gifs :)#sooo yeah!!! just sharing this very old coloring comparison i use from time to time to make sure i follow a certain peg for my gifs #but i dont really follow it to the T of course #and now i will use the tags to rant/comment about my coloring process lmao #ok so.... arcane s2 is SOOOOO much brighter than s1 i am so so so thankful we have such bright scenes instead of all the dark ones in s1 #because it makes my life so much easier #that being said my coloring isnt really perfect i still cant handle more complex tones like the mel gif......#i used to have a more stylized coloring wayyy back in s1 (esp when u look at my old gifs) but i kinda realized i had to change it #so i scrapped all my old psds and now coloredit EVERYTHING MANUALLY #hence why sometimes i gif the same scene but theyre colored different since i never use a preset PSD now #however it became way more tedious to make gifs... so yeah.... lmao #but in the end i like it more!!! i like that my new coloring just basically matches the show more but is just brighter and more saturated #unless ofc i dont like the tones of the original show i.e. the vi gif you see there where its super green gray???? idk i dont like it so #i recolored the entire thing #anyways thats really it coloring will always be something i continue to try to improve on but recently ive just been v busy so i just #speed color and edit everything and dont rlly take all adjustments into account so no more complex tones and #i just stick to basic things #oh right sharpening! so for sharpening i use a very basic setting: just 500 px and 0.4 radius which is what i use for almost everything #i also dont add noise bc the landscape photographer in me does NOT like it LMFAOOOOOOOOOO #but yeah thats really it for sharpening oh i also use 4k sources as much as possible bc it gives the best quality and if #i cant find any source i just upscale everything by myself then crop stuff again back to 540 px and imo it really just does look better #personal tag

can I say something controversial. shen jiu and shen yuan are both characters who are very much shaped by the environments in which they were raised, and those environments are fundamentally opposites. shen jiu is the way he is because he grew up as an orphan on the streets and suffered horrific abuse as a slave. shen yuan is the way he is because he was raised in relative comfort and privilege, with all the benefits that come with being the third son of a wealthy family in the modern era. I say this because in aus where they're brothers, one of them inevitably is going to end up in a fundamentally different upbringing, which is going to drastically change how they behave

this is not to discourage aus but rather to encourage using them as a way to analyze what changing something like this does to these characters. if you take out shen jiu's tragic backstory and give him a wealthy, privileged family, how does he act? how much of what we associate with shen jiu is inherent to his personality, and how much of it is because of his trauma? if you take shen yuan out of his comfortable life and make him an abused slave child, what will that do to him? will his kindness still be second nature? will he find new ways to act like a complete lunatic?

So, I wanted to combine the absolutely insane shenanigans fandom has yj getting into in space for months at a time with the fact that actually none of their guardians are as terrible/neglectful as they seem based on their absence from the narrative. (It's just that there are No Adults Allowed in the kids' book. They couldn't make them all orphans in the grand tradition of kids' fiction everywhere, so they just ignored the adults when convenient.)

Which means I need a way for them to spend months in space without anyone knowing, but also not have them absent long enough to ring any alarm bells.

Solution: take full advantage of the fact that time is Messed Up in comics. (7+ Christmases in 3-4 years anyone? One year time skip where not everyone ages a full year?) YJ can be in space for 8 months and it's only, let's go with two weeks, for their guardians.

Mind you: THEY STILL DON'T TELL ANYONE!

So you can get the scene years later where it's like:

JL: How do you know that alien race/language/solar system/interstellar legal code? Why are you citizens/married/ambassadors/boogiemen/deities on this random planet?

YJ: We spent 8 months hitchhiking. Stuff went down.

JL: ...there are no 8 month gaps unaccounted for. The longest we can come up with was two weeks, four if you're all really good at faking things.

YJ: Oh yeah, time's broken.

JL: Time's... broken...?

YJ: Time's broken.
