Thinking about how in Gideon's narration she employs 206 anatomical names for bones but Harrow doesn't know the difference between a hilt and a pommel. Something something cavaliers being expected to respect/understand/integrate into necromancy while necromancers are not expected to do the same for caveliership. Is this anything.
#ik that idea is supported in the text plenty elsewhere but i was just thinking about language#someone (tiktok book reader) was complaining about gtn using 'too many big words'#and 1) i dont particularly remember any big words being used? at least nothing that i had to look up.#2) the big words that are used (anatomical names for bones) are important to the text and the character.#they help establish the world and gideons place in it.#its not like muir is just stuffing her prose with 'big' words for no good reason. shes very intentional with her writing.#this is not really a dig at anyone who thought there were big words in gtn (is that the general consensus?) it just got me thinking.#tlt#gtn#htn#the locked tomb

no actor interpretation will ever fuck me up as badly as mr. rexstrew's "he starts to crave it", i think. "he's touch-starved" is very general and also fitting to charles, probably. but edwin, craving charles' touch specifically is— like. do you know what happens to people who are craving. how they cannot focus on anything else besides the singular point of need so bad it writhes and itches under their skin and wants to crawl over to their source of affection. and the slow-stretching, maddening timeframe which encapsulates the graduation from "this is not hurtful" to "this is... nice?" to "oh. oh" to "i need it i need him i need him i need him" like he can feel it in his teeth and fingernails and how charles once nuzzled his neck briefly during a hug so he makes sure to bare his whole throat the next time he has a chance to have a heart-to-heart. hoping, wishing for, yes, craving as much as charles will give him. perhaps, if the confession goes well, edwin will get to feel charles' phantom breath on the side of his neck or even the tip of his nose— if he's lucky. and it won't be enough, but a few moves with a shovel to cover a deeply dug grave is not either, so. what can you do

what sort of twisted powerplay is this
#who's holding the remote? the devs? or YOU? 🫵#very likely You.#because the devs certainly did not knock on my door (inbox) and shove this image in my face#i only noticed upon repeated viewings (and after my blinding rage subsided) that yakublob doesn't have legs like the other blobs#makes sense. snake blob. legs melted into the floor from anxiety and stress. sounds about right.#but to then give the tail blob a mermaid lingerie version??#is this the mermaid yakumo we were robbed of#when i said i wanted him in beast form or slutty fish form or at least in a summery dress (as is appropriate for the island's climate)#and they gave him a... complicated bone tank top (acceptable. the sluttiest he's been in a while tbh)#but months later they barge into my home with THIS/#?! THE TRUE MERMAID YAKUMO IS IN THE ORB UNIVERSE?#WTF!!!! HIS SEASHELL BIKINI??????#a clam had to die for that. SOME SORT of mollusc died for that#or maybe the poor shelled creature was already dead#and yakumo scavenged bra cups off the ocean floor#in which case would it make more sense to have 2 mismatched shells because oftentimes when the predators get a munchin#the shells become detached from all the violence and get scattered by currents? or am i making that up#yakumo panicking in his new mermaid form and scrambling to find a reasonably matching pair of shells#like digging in the orphaned merch discount bin...........#because priority is covering up the Nops. i guess#brother. i am surprised he is simply not just an eel#why am i trying to make sense of the orb april fools trailer..... it's not that deep.......#because i'm just wondering what shells would possibly stay on yaku's flat chest#do i have to find the flimsiest babiest shells. the most calcium deficient there ever were (for maximum flexibility)#stick them on him. then wedge a vacuum hose in between to slorp all the air out#thus creating a suction strong enough to adhere shells to an ironing board???#OK SO WHEN DO I GET TO SEE FULL SIZE YAKUMERMAID?#THE SAME TIME I'LL GET TO SEE FULL SIZE MAGICAL GIRL BLADE AND GARU?#if this man wants to be mermaid tied that badly then [clatters and scrapes as i dig around for the ropes]

DD and GA: Archaeology and Jane Austen
Anderson: I wanted to be a marine biologist when I was young, which may not have been compatible with that fear.
Duchovny: Really? I wanted to be an archaeologist.
INTERVIEWER: Did you have any other childhood ambitions?
Duchovny: A bath tub, apparently, was the first thing I wanted to be.
Anderson: Are you serious? (Laughs)
Duchovny: Yeah, my father said I wanted to be a bath tub. After that came the archaeology – I was in love with the dinosaurs. And then I wanted to be an astronaut at some point. Then a basketball player.
INTERVIEWER: Would you like to work together in something unrelated to The X-Files?
Duchovny: Well, Gillian's got that strong English accent she likes to bust out all the time, so maybe we could do a Jane Austen movie or something. I could learn from the master of the Americanised English accent. (Laughs)
Anderson: We could always get back to the archaeology thing and go on a dig together. Although we kind of did that already, on the series. We've had to dig a lot of stuff up over the years.

Gotta love how Alina fans become psychoanalysts about how anti-Alina fans are at their core misogynistic and sexists who don't want to see a female character choosing happiness or who prefer to love Aleksander rather than her so that means we hate female characters.
Just accept the fact that not all people are going to love the same characters as you, that just because they hate 1-2 female characters in a book does NOT mean they hate all the female population of the world and that they see your blorbo in a much different light in comparison to you.
This discussion that always has the phrase "root of misogyny" in it, is just a short-sighted attempt to "decode" the reason why people hate Alina or Zoya.
#it's so funny how they try to be our therapists#it's really not that deep#I just don't really dig into her character cause she's short-sighted and selfish. that's it#there's one account in particular that does this#alina starkov#grishaverse#shadow and bone#feminism

I’ve read a lot of worm fanfic and In a lot of them an alt power Taylor does the most min maxing things with her powers. Squeezing it for every drop of different use her power could have. Now I enjoy reading this but then I think and I wonder if it’s only like this cause cannon Taylor had to get creative cause she just had a baton and bugs. Do y’all think if she got a stronger power that you don’t have to squeeze dry for any use she’d be more boring. Like give her an Alexandria package like she wants, with some creative little twist or something cause it’s worm and some trauma. Does she min max this strong power or does she be a bit more normal, or as normal as a Parahuman can get
#wormblr#parahumans#worm thoughts#taylor hebert#bugs bugs and more bugs#give her some weird power like a bone master and does she start to dig up bodies?

I loved how almost purposefully anticlimactic Pentiment's ending is. There's no dramatic usurpal or anything like in Act Two, just a coward killing himself instead of trying to face and take responsibility. It's no wonder Magda and Andreas' only real reactions to it are "now what?" because. Yeah. Now what? Change will come to Tassing in time as the seasons do, but it will be slow. She will always be a town out of time.
#Pentiment#Pentiment spoilers#Andreas maler#Magdalen druckeryn#in a few centuries there will be an archaeological dig in that town and they will incorrectly identify Thomas' bones as Roman#a fitting end I guess

Thoughts on Primarchs as women, by a woman with sisters : oh-ho ho, Malcador darling. I appreciate the thought.
It would have been a disaster. XD
So the thought was to attempt to limitate dick-measuring contests, yes? Get things more "civilized", with enormous air quotes? Let's think about that for a second.
Firstly, there aren't that many differences between the two. You would still have the same traits of character between the Primarchs : Curze would not start combing her hair just because she is a girl. Angron would still punch anyone through a wall. Lion would have the exact same array of deadly forbidden weapons. Magnus would still think she knows better. Horus would still feel crushed and abandonned by her dad as a Warmaster. (Warmistress if we want to lean in further, but for now let's keep it as it is.)
Now when in comes to society, we could look at it from our current patriarchal lense and go ooooohh.... ouuuh they would not have had it easy... Perturabo has been disregarded and disrespected enough as is, man add to that being told she's be hood for political marriage and nothing more? YIKES. Others like Fulgrim or Angron, raised in worlds where it doesn't matter, would have it easier, but others like Lion?? In a world of knights? It's the Joan of Arc route or nothing! Would Lorgar even be able to serve in religious settings? And we are not even talking about potential abuse here. Over all, add that frustration to growing up, if the general 40k civilizations tends towards patriarchy.
And then the Great Crusade, and oh my god.
Horus already crumbled under the pressure of the expectations and the scrutiny. Can you IMAGINE having to care about your dress and every accessory too?? And who you talk to and who you are seen with and how every time you have a private conversation rumors sprout out??
The expectations of kids! Some idiot suggesting you birthed all of your Astartes! I would go insane. Now granted, except for a few that do care strategically for their appearances (Guilliman for example, would be pragmatic in her choices, for branding. Fulgrim would dominate that scene!), it can be shrugged off... but well. The fascination for the female form is a bit of a clingy thing, and it tends to fester. :/
I also humbly raise periods. Not in a haha bleeding, in the emotional toll it inflicts on you. This sense that everything is crushing and hard and painful, that the world is against you, that all you can do in your hopeless situation is to lash out. Can you imagine the decisions this pressure you can't control would make them do? Ouch. :/ It's counted in numbers of nukes launched.
Now, would it ACTUALLY have made the Primarchs cooperate better between them? Uhhh... possibly. From what I have observed, women have a slight tendency towards the cerebral over the physical. Throwing pointless punches is rare... but I can assure you that I have hunted my sisters down and put the fear of death in them for relatively small things that mattered to me. XD So yes, less pointless physical confrontation... but a lot more measuring. And things would have gone VICIOUS. Leman and Lion dueling? First there would have been one dead, for real, and then the remaining legion would have been hunted down to extinction. If things come to blows, you better hope someone is there to pull two primarchs apart because it will not end before one is bleeding out! We are talking about demigods under additional pressure here.
When things explode, oh they explode HARD. We don't do fists here. We do fangs and claws. And that is past all the scheming and political games to even get there!
Malcador darling women are not always civil. Or kind and soft and agreeable. We suffer from the same flaws, expressed differently. But let me tell you... the Imperium would have gone WEIRD with female primarchs. The kill count would have been much higher, not that they didn’t give it a good try, but... sisterhood is either an unbreaking bond, or the fuel of hell itself between sisters.
Maybe it's better to have 20 sons. Not for the repairs around the house, but to at least have a house at all after someone snaps.
#warhammer 40k#had thoughts at work#and I wanted to dig a bit deeper than just#'the Emperor laughed it off'#as a canon shapeshifter I bet he knows#in my opinion sons are easier to manage#there is an independance with female Primarchs that I feel in my bones#that would run contrary to his vision on so many levels!#disclaimer my sisters are fantastic and I love them dearly#but if we were Primarchs oh my god#nukes everywhere. xD#most of them mine weirdly enough I think. xD

hello. thoughts won't leave me alone this day and it's probably due to how cold it is outside. i got a bit curious, so, what do you think about the cold in relation to c!wilbur?
sincerely, 🐁
he is intimate to it, like the relation the cold has to an abandoned house? that's not quite right, i'll come back to that someday
it's a bit like the dread nipping at his heels. have you ever seen him with less than two to three layers of cloth? He's a cold man, I'd imagine his hands are the type that's always clammy and that's what the gloves are for. The uniform staved it off fine at first, the coat's a thick wool and the undershirt's a nice layer of cotton. The cloak-coat-shirt-beanie combo for Pogtopia was fine for the cave's muggy chill. Uncomfortable as hell, i'd imagine, but whatever keeps the cold away. Whatever keeps the dread from eating him alive.
Dying was cold as hell, so to speak.
(Did you know that Dante Alighieri says the layer of hell reserved for treachery is the coldest? Traitors to friends, families, and countries are all trapped in ice.)
Dying was falling into the ocean and sinking from the weight of the sword on his chest. Losing blood made him even colder. Dying was freezing to death despite cPhil, a bastion of warmth—trembling, teeth grit, like he is the one that's cold—holding him closer than he'd ever been held before. Dying is slowly losing the dear warmth wrapped around him. Dying is giving into the cold because it was his joy in unrelenting pain.
The subway isn't exactly cold—it's cold like the idea of being trapped in a fridge in a dream. You acknowledge the low temperature, but you don't feel it on your skin. You acknowledge the dread, the fear, the trembling air as the train rushes in for its next flood of colder shades, but you're out of it enough that all you can focus on is the bite of guitar strings on your skin or how smooth the laminated deck of cards is in your hands. You acknowledge it in every tomorrow creeping in its petty pace.
His revival was the first time that he was warm again. Shirt-sweater-coat, you'd think he's scared of the cold from the ten miles of cloth he's hiding under.
The sunrise was warm. The way everyone treats him thereafter?
#no. of course not. the first reaction spoken about his revival is 'oh no'#bit aimless pardon. this excludes c!bursonas because argbur has his own can of worms regarding the cold as something haunting him#which i would argue has an even closer relationship with the cold. wraps around him digs into his bones and tears him from the inside#it's the hand that grips his throat and the hand that keeps him upright and the hand that keeps his paranoia taut as a guitar string#it's his antagonist the way the cold is his companion in canon#hymnhums#hymnswords#anonhymns#sorry that took a while!#🐁 anon
