thinking about harrowhark nonagesimus again today and her puppeting her parents as a child as a metaphor for growing up in an abusive household and feeling/being responsible for the emotional states and wellbeing of adults

crowley used the metal tool in season 1 to start time, and we learn that he's used it first to start space. to create the stars -- he still remembers how. he still remembers all of heaven's passwords: in the book crowley is described as an optimist because he has the "utter surety... that the universe would look after him". not god, but the universe. and of course he does: he helped create it and he's looking after it, too.

think about it: aziraphale had a sword, but crowley is about to face satan who wants to destroy the world, and crowley's only weapon is a tool of creation

I think the reason Doctor Odyssey is so great is because all of the plotlines (both the personal melodrama of the characters and the actual medical emergencies) feel like the kind of plotlines that a show would usually only pull out like ten seasons after the show has already run it's natural course but Doctor Odyssey has had that manic, this-might-as-well-happen energy since episode 1 like what do you mean we're getting zombie apocalypse, appendectomy in a hurricane, shark attacks, syphillis epidemic, threesome in the suicide episode, John Stamos with auto-brewery syndrome, pregnancy, exploratory surgery with no blood antibiotics or power, accidental straight couple on the gay cruise, butch lesbian assists in an impromptu double amputation, and Angela Bassett and we're barely halfway through SEASON 1.

Amazing. Beautiful. 10/10. Usually we have to wait like ten years of actual real life to get this kind of quality bullshit.

Neil is canonically pretty and absolutely a liar, so I definitely think that Andrew thought he was hot and interesting from the beginning, but I don’t think he really saw Neil, bone-deep like-knows-like until the Kathy Ferdinand show. This paranoid, lying, run-away sees Kevin shutdown and just goes apeshit. Neil didn’t want to be on air; he could’ve used this to go completely unnoticed. How could Andrew “Make a Deal With Me” Minyard not see, recognize, that he and Neil may be different flavors but they are the same fucked-up cake. Two boys that have seen and gone through too much, but Andrew’s burning rage is under the skin and Neil’s is like a pot of water boiling over.

The first time Peter returns from a solo campaign, Susan can’t help but see monsters in his shadow. Their eyes are ruby-red and silver-sharp, their fangs grazing the back of Peter’s neck. Their claws raze the ground where he steps.

She is happy he is home, back where she can see him, but the smell of blood lingers in the Cair for weeks after Peter returns to his place in their row of thrones. It worries Susan how little he seems to care, even when Lucy and Edmund wrinkle their noses.

He smiles indulgently at her the third time she asks to wash the hair that looks caked with reddish mud out of the corner of her eye. He lets her check his back for unseen slashes, brushes a gentle hand over her hair, and tells her everything is fine and will remain just so.

Susan looks at him, at his eyes, and can see the next northern campaign rushing at her through his dilated pupils. There is joy in his cracked-lips smile, conquest and bloodshed sitting behind his teeth for every laugh over the dinner table. Susan’s dreams fill with distant shadows of massive beings flying overhead and dropping something of blinding pain.

It’s easier to call him Wolfsbane. Wolfsbane, a knight of the court of Narnia, a young man with great potential.

It’s easier than looking at the cresting wave of violence bearing down on him from behind and knowing there is little she can do to stop it from drowning him. Easier than accepting that this is how things will be.

Wolfsbane, not Peter Pevensie formerly of Finchley. Wolfsbane, not Peter, the boy who spun her in circles in a garden far away from here. Wolfsbane, not Pete, the eldest brother with a stubborn streak and soft smiles.

Wolfsbane grins at her siblings from across the table and Susan presses her tongue against her teeth. It’ll pass, she tells herself.

It must.
