Terrible for each other affectionate/derogatory: I don't even know where the affectionate/derogatory split occurs. I multiship BroCal as both Bro/normal puppet Lil Cal and as Bro/evil juju puppet Lil Cal, and whatever combination in between or outside of that. Terrible in that Bro is so obsessed with Cal that he doesn't have normal relationship/social skills and uses Lil Cal as both a crutch and motivator alternately, in a terrible cycle, or maybe rather... spiral. And also terrible in that Bro is caught in the allure of playing the role of puppeteer while also being a puppet for the darker parts of Lil Cal, whether he actively knows it or not. They need to get weirder with it: YES YES. 1000% YES. I need entirely shameless Bro doing entirely shamless things to Lil Cal. I want them inseparable and doing unspeakable things to each other. I made a post a long, long time ago (not gonna link that one bc it was personal and I was being very obviously mentally ill ["C'mon, like you're not being obviously mentally ill while typing paragraph upon paragraph about BroCal still in 2024 like 10 years later??" Fair.]) But the gist of it was that, like, having objectophilia or objectum sexuality is like, from an outsider pov, it's a way to express love to yourself. You filter all your self-hate through the object you love, and you get back unconditional love in return.

Lil Cal is never gonna hate Bro, no matter what Bro does. As a regular puppet, Lil Cal doesn't have the capacity for hate. And so that only brings them closer, since Cal is never gonna reject Bro for any reason. (Back to being a crutch. RSD is real, and Dave is probably a big trigger for that since he's not on the same wavelength of weird as Bro [not blaming Dave, obviously, this is a post about BroCal].) Bro can experience receiving positive attention from Lil Cal, without feeling 'fake' or uncool by expressing that same attention or affection directly to his own self. (Things are always done through multiple layers with the Striders, aren't they?) ((And I'm not saying Lil Cal doesn't love Bro, or that their relationship is just pretend - it's real, I'm just like, 'What's going on behind the curtain in the mundane situation?/ How is the relationship appealing?' Example: maybe Bro is dealing with a bout of body/gender dysphoria and is trying to take out his frustration with working out, and it's not helping, even if he's powered through a set better than normal. Then, he notices the way Lil Cal is watching him, and he can feel the excitement seeping off Cal. He can sense the echoes of a wolf-whistle ring out through his mind, and it's like. Okay, none of that shit from before matters, he's got all the validation he needs right there in Lil Cal. Maybe flex in Cal's direction, Bro?

Oh, so back to being cute: isn't it wonderful how the template maker phrased it as 'playing dolls'? But yeah, I want all the mush and everything. Bro has a whole wardrobe for Lil Cal for every minor event that occurs in the Strider household. I want them going on genuine dates. Maybe even... holding hands. Bro blushes for the first time since he was 16. He even gets to take Lil Cal with him when he goes out to DJ or put on a show. Not to mention the whole website business. (I've talked about Cal's role in that before, but I'll mention it in a moment...)

To sum it up, whenever Bro makes a new smuppet design, he then gives it a video debut on his website, where uh, Lil Cal births the smuppet like it's a horror movie scene, fake blood and poly-fil gore all over the place as the smuppet crawls out from the viscera. Bro then gets to play aftercare by lovingly and gently cleaning up and restuffing Lil Cal as they get to admire their new creation and rake in the dough lol.

So it's technically not a 'you should see the other guy' kinda situation, but it does involve one of them being... idk what word would describe it. Injured by the other? Usually a character loses a fight and says this to act like they got out of it better than the other guy, but... We could have someone knock on the door during the filming of a scene like that, and Bro has to answer it with fake blood up to his elbows, and be like 'You should see the other guy.' (But obviously, that's a terrible idea and would cause more trouble than it's worth... Maybe worth it for a persistent door to door salesperson, though.)

Though, I guess I should also say, I'm not opposed to Bro beating on Lil Cal in or out of the bedroom. Or in the case of animate Lil Cal, Cal choking out Bro. In or out of the bedroom, lol. Depends on the situation, like I said I will ship this ship any which way. But my preference for animate Lil Cal is to be like a totally normal puppet around Bro (or mushy in-love with Bro) and then evil-murder-puppet towards anyone else in Bro's life, like a... toxic yaoi guard puppet. (New Phrase Achievement Unlocked!) Bro brings home another guy to have sex, who tries to stay the night due to the late hour, but the guy wakes up shortly after to see Lil Cal standing there with a knife in the dark, eyes glowing red. Panic ensues when the guest screams and freaks out, and by the time Bro's got a light on, grabbing his sword, ready for a ninja vs ninja fight (bc an intruder would've had to bypass all the traps), Lil Cal is just innocently splayed across the desk chair, no knife in sight. Thinking about them always and forever: Listen. My Tumblr as proof, I've had BroCal on the brain for at least 11 years at this point. Definitely longer, since I first started reading Homestuck. I fucking love puppets and dolls and plushies and I always have. Man, if I hadn't deleted Tweets (automated app I used to do, and I couldn't choose what to save) from when I was in high school, you could've seen me @ ing my fave band when they were taking lyric suggestions on a fan-inspired album, where I was telling them 'make a song where the theme is puppets' and, while I don't know if they saw that or took the suggestion (they had responded to me before bc they weren't huge yet), there is indeed a song titled "Puppets" on that album, and it was my favourite song on there. Committing atrocities as their silly little activities: I think we all know what this means, but I am going to ignore that elephant with my special x-ray vision. Because this is a BroCal post. One could place emphasis on the 'guard' part of the, ahem ahem, toxic yaoi guard puppet. also can i say that the springtrap jumpscare in 3 is so funny to me sfdtdfd id forgotten how goofy it is he looks like hes leaning in for a kiss. he looks like hes gonna slide a hand up ur leg like heeey and coupled w the scream it takes me out. also the peeking around the door... why are you silly

like i know this guy also has his objectively scary moments but hes just kind of chilling in that game. idk if it's an intentional animation choice, like if it was unintentionally not very scary or if it was on purpose. makes me consider that maybe he's just kind of shuffling around because he's still regaining more of his mobility and control in the suit, having yet to mold it to what he wants it to be. i know nothing we will see but.

for the moment i like to think it's something that he grows more capable of using with time which would put it into context, because to my understanding he can be pretty theatrical, whereas in 3, he doesn't speak, he just seems to be kind of stalking you, studying you perhaps idk i get a calculating sense from him, toying with you but in a more quiet, sinister way than a violent, expressive one, which as far as i know the latter is more like his usual style and he's very enthusiastic about killing. in line w this idea that he needs to develop more ability to use it well and channel his energy in a way it responds to him, maybe he can't speak yet. idk how that works but i think he does have voice lines in other titles so perhaps that's another aspect of the possession he hasn't grasped in the events so far. this probably sounds stupid as fuck im sorry but i thought maybe u might find my thoughts entertaining hhdhfyfy

yeah a little hehe, one must imagine it not as smooth as it may seem to opertate a suit whilst dead and after years of inactivity lol. also note the fact that the Spring Bonnie suit is in fact in animatronic mode when he reanimates, so theres obvious limitations in movement and whatever not even to mention the fact that its been molding and rusting and collecting dust for the time hes been inactive. i dont think it was a like thing where scott intentionally made it Not-Scary but probably focused on other characterizing details in Springtraps animation and the end result just so happened to not be scary to a particular group of people. yeah, like what ive said before and its been a minute since hes done literally anything. guy running on instincts, like hes LITERALLY chasing echoes of children (his victims) around the pizzeria to presumably rip em to shreds gruesomely lol hes like an animal........

yeah, he definitely has his moments, many people are under the impression or make it out to be this way that his personality dramatically shifted from William Afton, the man, to Springtrap, the zombie rabbit. whereas i think its more of a two sides of the same coin thing, hes a multifaceted guy naturally he doesnt exclusively abide by one set of behaviours 100% of the time, people have literally said that he has no personality in the games before sister location and onwards which is a horribly gross statement that reveals a lot more about the person saying this than effectively having a jab at William. anyways, we HAVE in fact seen him being more enthusiastic and active before his time as Springtrap, like literally just look at the fnaf2 minigames. they play out and are framed in a specifc way that is telling to his personality albeit naturally much more subtle than what we do see later on, given the limitations and whatnot of the medium. okay this is funny because i loooove to reference the fnaf2 'foxy go! go! go!' minigame alll of the time, but i do think it is a pretty good example of this, pre Sprintrap stuff. i do not for a second believe that it isnt intentional the way the minigame is set up, and the way it is to be played, the scenario that is being played out, etc. i do think it is meaningful that Williams sprite looks like that, i do think it is meaningful, even if the scenario isnt protraying LITERAL events as they transpired exactly, and says something tangible about William. it really really isnt as cut and dry as people might want to make it out to be, all of these elements come together to craft a narrative and all that comes with even if its ignored for more literal 'Lore Crafting' moments and whatever. yknow what i mean? continuing with your line of thoughts though: yeah, i see where you get all this from. and its really interesting to see it from your perspective, with moderately new eyes on the series, as you go on i promise♡ bsjdbbdjdndb its not stupid at all! your journey is very fascinating and beautiful 2 mee :3c,,,

hey I love your edits and I was just wondering what you use/do to edit your photos? Not to copy, just in awe!

omggg thank you anon!!! the fact u want to know at all means so much 😭💓 especially when theres so many people posting edits that have a much better understanding of how to edit photos than me!!! (may i direct you to the amazing @yesloulou and her gifs..) ask me anything im happy to share and for u to copy my techniques (??) send me any other questions u have if i dont answer them i cud talk abt this all day .. 🫶🫶

so! i use the mobile version of lightroom when im editing photos quickly e.g. on race day, and tbf, its my main editing app. if that doesnt click with u, theres also snapseed which is a google editing app that i also used for a while until i realised lightroom was free (a blessing 😭). I also sometimes use photopea as a rip-off photoshop if i want to do more crazy stuff 🤪🤪🤪

first thing is crop the image if it needs it. i have a preference for portrait photos, just bc i prefer the way they look when posted. i use all sorts of ratios, but my favourites are 3:4 and 5:4 just bc i think they work best with driver portraits! (hot tip: the rule of thirds is soooo helpful!! find a metaphorical 'line' through the photo and line that up with one of the thirds) (lightroom produces the grid automatically when u crop xxx)

the next thing i do with a photo is correct the lighting and colouring. there are plenty of tutorials online and i can go more indepth if u want, but i tend to favour lower contrast with low highlights (bc i hate when u lose detail in highlights. the bane of my existence). its usually the first thing i try, but if it looks horrible i'll try different things. to correct colouring, i use the tint/temperature sliders (im still learning how to intuitively use these rather than messing around and going hm. too purple right before i post). since most of the photos i edit r taken by super talented F1 photographers i rarely have to use curves, but sometimes i do! so i do that as well before i get into the meat of it if needed 😌

then i adjust the tint/temperature & vibrance and saturation until i'm getting the vibe i want (e.g. i love making max photos cooler toned). then i use colour mix to change anything specific about colours in the image (i most commonly use this to make daniel/charles' skin less yellow and more red toned, to soften any redness or to make max's blush pink). then i colour grade!

after that i decide whether the image needs sharpening, extra texture or dehazing, and then i add grain! i prefer a rough, understated grain so that you dont lose loads of the detail from the photo. here's some examples of before and afters of some of my more complex edits:

-> this one was lighting correction and colour correction! i also used curves im pretty sure 😭

-> exposure and contrast changes and colour changes/grading (can we appreciate this photo.. wow)

-> made photo brighter (pretty sure i lowered the highlights..) n changed the temperature of the photo

Extensive though process and deconstruction under the cut here.

(Take all of these with salt of course, this is based on a 1/1 connection for the crossover instead of it being close enough.)

The Marauder's hunched form kind of resembles a scythes blade and the presence of the spinal-mounted autocannon in most forms fills the roll of a ranged sniper. Paint it red and put a rose emblem on the side and you're golden. Some models take jumpjets too as well.

Yangs a given. Also; the Nova has fists. The position of the energy weaponry around them on the arms resembles Yang's Huntress weaponry.

Personally I feel Blake would pilot a Shadow Cat for the memery but an Ebon Jaguar's not entirely a bad take either. The irony of her having a gauss rifle in either mech so she can headclip people who annoy her is always nice. You are going to have to stick a hatchet in there somewhere tho to represent Gambol Shroud's melee form.

Alternatively you could put her in a Ebony, a Magistracy of Canopus light scout mech.

(Note the ears and the single weapon more fitting to her pistol sidearm. Also it has TSM. Paint it black and watch her rampage across the battlefield at 160 kph. Did I mention it can also take stealth armor to literally make itself a shadow?)

Weiss...here we disagree. Weiss is a caster; shes RWBY's team mage. She would be better suited in a lighter and more mobile machine with a lot of missile and ranged weaponry as well as electronic support equipment, rather than the Atlas, which (while it CAN be a support platform) is not designed explicitly as a fires support machine. Its got way too much armor and too many close in weapons for that role. It was built to get in and break face. Yes, it shares her name with her home kingdom. But it doesnt...really fit her. Its too big and heavy for a dancer and singer, you know? No, the heiress gets to ride in something smaller and lighter with support weapons so she can stand behind her team and support.

The Magistracy's Calliopie would work nicely, I think. The Plasma Rifle will make short work of any infantry support and mess nicely with mechs as well. (Also its from Canopus, a famoulsy matriarchal society, as a bonus)

Jaune should have a retrofitted Clanbuster that keeps the hatchet blade but drops three of the lasers to mount an arm-carried ablative sheild similar to the Centurion. The rest of the lasers should either be downscaled to be basically worthless in combat (referencing his lack of a ranged weapon) or be stripped completely for TAG, BAP or something similar. Maybe an ECM or Anti-Missile system?

Nora...once again, we falter. Mainly, in the fact that "Thor" was the inner sphere name for it. The proper clan title is the Summoner, and its connections to the god of Thunder (and therefor Nora herself) end there. Its distinct lack of a melee weapon, and also of RL pods to represent Nora's grenade launcher, simply wont do. Also, as is an issue with a lot of these mechs, it doesnt sell the proper mobility of a Hunter. Summoners dont JUMP. Nor, really, do they run. They're sturdy fire support platforms. Also; Nikolai Malfus. ENOUGH SAID.

Thankfully there's other mechs that fill the role just fine.

This is the Valkyrie. Far closer to her actual reference in terms of namesake, and also, note the open hand, allowing for the presence of a melee weapon.

There's also the Mjlonir.

Hammer. Lasers. Jumpjets. Yeah, this works real good. Slap some pink on it, rip out one of the lasers for an SRM-2 Commando style, that could work.

Pyrrha has a similar issue; Which Gladiator do you mean? The original one made by the Draconis Combine, one of their original Mech models

(in which case; why are you putting the best fighter in JNPR in a machine older than the First Star League? I understand she doesnt wear enough armor in the show but this is a little hamfisted) or the Clan Executioner, which was named the Gladiator by the Spheroids?

Which...has its...own problems... (Eugh, I forgot how UGLY this thing was. WHY THE FACE GOD NO).

No, once again we must look instead to the Magistracy again...

Behold, the Agrotera. A medium mech based on the Word of Blake's Phoenix Hawk design. While it lacks the shield Pyrrha usually carries, the partial wing and jumpjets make up for it in fufilling Pyrrha's movement style. The long rifle can also represent her spear rather nicely. AND, as a hilarious little touch, the Agrotera includes a full head ejection system, improving pilot survivability by a factor of 3. (Mind you, in this universe Cinders going to be piloting some absolute DOGSHIT rustpile from the Rim Worlds Republic because shes Fat Genghis Khan's great-great-great-great-granddaughter or something and she's loosing that eye to a near-miss from a Gauss Rifle I swear to fucking GOD BUT...yeah. Good luck killing Pyrrha in this thing biiiiittch)

That said if you MUST go with the original Gladiator, simply remove a ton of armor and make it into a shield on the open left arm.

And now for Ren...

The Horned Owl is a good choice. The only difference I would suggest would be stripping the lasers in the arms out for twin Clan AP Gauss Rifles, and mounting 1-ton hatchets on the underside.

If you ever get around to doing other teams, you need to put Coco in an Atlas 3. Give that bitch an RAC-5.

So a very rough approximation of their wingspans in my winged AU. It's not the real shape or size of the wings but a very rough approximation of how long their wings are relaxed but stretched (but not stretched out straight)

Also some ideas I have about them, like Foxy and Spring both have light scarring on the wings that mildly affect how they fly, Spring's wings are messy and in a sort of constant molt, and Goldie's wings are heavily scarred, rendering him unable to fly (The feathers wont grow back). Mangle's wings are prosthetics, made of a light and hollow, but strong, metal sort of mimicing real wings. The bears naturally have the largest wings in their individual groups.

Not pictured here, due to time, are the Shadows. I plan to finish them up when i get home...

Of course i plan on actually finishing this tonight and tomorrow instead of just having the skeletons lol

2. Do they have any titles? How did they get them?

Echo doesn’t have any official titles, and isn’t really planning on getting any, unless Champion of Sune counts?

4. What is their relationship with their parents? What’s a good and bad memory with them? Did they know both parents?

Echo has a very good relationship with her moms! To their knowledge, things were a bit tense after leaving Ivydome, but plenty of letters and visiting when they could helped with smoothing over their relationship. A good memory would be when her moms taught Echo how to bake! They can really only bake cupcakes and cookies but theyre like. Hella good ones. They dont really have any bad memories with/of their parents, since like. They will forcibly forget or repress anything that upsets them, as long as it only affected them. If the memory is something bad that affected others it will linger for however long Echo deems necessary(read: an extremely long time)

6. What were they like at school? Did they enjoy it? Did they finish? What level of higher education did they reach? What subjects did they enjoy? Which did they hate?

They were there and graduated fantasy high school what more do you want from them jkdxxjndk.  They started working at the local sweets shop after school, so no higher level of education here! They like history a bit, but that’s about it tbh!

8. Did they have pets as a child? Do they have pets as an adult? Do they like animals?

Yes! Echo had a pet cat back at Ivydome with her moms, and before the campaign she didn’t really have the money to keep another, so they settled for feeding and playing with the stray cats in Summervale.

10. Do they like children? Do children like them? Do they have or want any children? What would they be like as a parent? Or as a godparent/babysitter/ect?

Hmmm, Echo doesn’t mind children?? but there’s only so long they can be around them before she gets overwhelmed. Children like them well enough since Echo is always up for playing songs or messing around with cantrips. Echo would be the fun parent/godparent/babysitter, but. Please dont make them look after children they dont want any.

12. What is their favourite food?

Give my child spicy noodles or give him death

14. Do they have any specific memories of food/a restaurant/meal?

Their first cake made without supervision was. A disaster to put it lightly since someone was feeling ambitious.(it turned out like rubber and after that he was too flustered n frustrated to focus so everything else turned out badly too) So they dont bother with that anymore! Cake mistakes who i dont know her sdkjjkdbs. So half the time they pass by anything with some type of airy sponge cake they cringe lololol

16. Do they collect anything? What do they do with it? Where do they keep it?

She had a rock and shiny things collection back at Summervale! They’re mostly for decoration, although some with certain textures are used for stimming. Some rocks are kept on shelves, but most are stored in cool jars to save space

18. What’s their favourite genre of: books, music, tv shows, films, video games and anything else

Echo is a sucker for romance novels and fun, upbeat music! Idk if video games, films, or video games exist in-universe, but if they did, they’d like dramas and baking shows, rpgs, and more character focused games like nitw

20. Do they like musicals? Music in general? What do they do when they’re favourite song comes?

They love music, and they’d like musicals too! They will grab their lute and play along if their favorite song came on, and if nobody was around then maybe they’d sing too. Maybe. 

22. What are their favourite insults to use? What do they insult people for? Or do they prefer to bitch behind someone’s back?

tbh their go-to insult is calling someone a prick or a bastard, and it’s usually for whenever someone’s done something particularly scummy. Or if someone is just. The Absolute Worst. It’s a leftover habit from when they used to live in Ivydome, but Echo usually sticks to talking shit when the target is. Very far away/not in the area.

24. What is their sleeping pattern like? Do they snore? What do they like to sleep on? A soft or hard mattress?

They try and get around six hours, to varying success, and to their knowledge they dont snore! Echo loves soft things and would prefer to sleep on a soft mattress with So Many blankets and pillows and maybe a cuddle buddy

26. How do they act when they’re happy? Do they sing? Dance? Hum? Or do they hide their emotions?

Fun fact echo does a tounge blep when she’s happy!! They tend to do lil happy claps and bounce up and down in place when they’re really excited, but when it’s a more calm-type of happy he purrs loudly and smiles a lot more than usual! 

28. What is their biggest fear? What in general scares them? How do they act when they’re scared?

He’s claustrophobic and is terrified of being alone again or having to leave people behind even when the situation calls for it. So like. He aint copin too well after the last session! They get very flustered and panicked and freeze when theyre scared

30. Do they exercise? Regularly? Or only when forced? What do they act like pre-work out and post-work out?

Does going on champion quests and running from his problems count as exercise or???

32. What do they dress like? What sorta shops do they buy clothes from? Do they wear the fashion that they like? What do they wear to sleep? Do they wear makeup? What’s their hair like?

Crop tops with long sleeves, shorts, and boots make up most of their wardrobe and they love it. Theyd go to like the fantasy equivalent of marshalls i think? Somewhere with good deals and a lot of options. Overlarge shirts, tank top crop tops, and more shorts make up their pjs. They dont really wear makeup, mostly bc they touch their face a lot and it feels weird the whole time, but they wouldnt be opposed to wear a lil bit every now and then! Their hair is floofy and a bit of a controlled mess since they cut it themselves

34. What is their body type? How tall are they? Do they like their body?

Echo is 5’9”/ 175.26 cm! Theyre on the average side i think? Like theyre not super skinny but not fat either so just. Avergae. And yeah, Echo likes their body, theyre so bright! And their horns are so cute and having a tail is very handy and claw maintenance can be a bit of a pain but like. Aesthetic am i right folks

36. What are they good at? What hobbies do they like? Can they sing?

Hes good at playing the lute and generally being very cute and giving out good vibes, and he likes baking and playing music! They can sing, but really only do that when theyre playing their lute ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

38. What do they admire in others? What talents do they wish they had?

Echo admires passion and creativity the most, and dont let anyone from the party know but he wishes he could be just. A bit smarter and know what to say + ask. Theyd also really like to be able to make a decent genoise sponge too like theyre not picky

40. Do they like energy drinks? Coffee? Sugary food? Or can they naturally stay awake and alert?

Theyre a tea drinker all the way, and arent the biggest fan of sweet things. He used to use more tart or mellow flavors when baking. They def arent alert after being tired for a while, and will space out a bit

No secret ambitions here, Echo is an open book(unless they roll high on deception dvdjxb)! Becoming Sune’s champion, making a decent sponge cake, and protecting his friends with his life/in any way they can are all their current goals. Echo doesn’t care too much if they get hurt, so physical well-being and maybe mental are things they wouldn't mind sacrificing, but as a whole they don’t really want to think about what they’d have to give up. He’ll burn that bridge when he gets to it. 

44. What is their favourite season? Type of weather? Are they good in the cold or the heat? What weather do they complain in the most?

If its cold, wet, or humid echo is not a happy camper lol. They prefer summer and the beginning of fall the most, and sunny days with lots of puffy white clouds are the best! They think its fun watching the clouds shadows on the ground. They’re better in hot weather than cold, since clothes for that type of weather are easier to dress for and they dont have to account for their tail or horns as much

46. Do they make a good first impression? Does their first impression reflect them accurately? How do they introduce themselves?

God i hope they make a good first impression im dying over here xjkxdk but honestly it depends! They try to make a good first impression and i think they usually do? But if theyve just finished with a job w the gang or theyre just. So tired they wont really introduce themselves at all.  Its pretty accurate of how they are, and their go-to greeting is “I’m Echo Barquiel, a pleasure to meet you dearie~” 

48. Do they enjoy any parties? If so what kind? Do they organise the party or just turn up? How do they act? What if they didn’t want to go but were dragged along by a friend?

In theory they’d like parties but being around so many people with that much noise for an unknown amount of time would not be. Ideal so smaller get-togethers with friends would be the most enjoyable! Echo doesnt really have the uh, space to host anything so theyd just turn up to other’s parties. Theyd be in a constant state of switching between ‘holy shit im so gay’ and ‘oh my god theres so many people/internal screaming’. If they were dragged to a party, theyd mingle for a leelte bit before stepping out

50. If they could only take one bag of stuff somewhere with them: what would they pack? What do they consider their essentials?

A bedroll, waterskin, food supplies, rope, knives, a lute, matches, money- yknow regular survival stuff!
