Oh wow this took me absolutely forever, but my first itty bitty fanart for Reye!
I guess you could say this is an alternate thumbnail of Alien Abduction Part 13? I just really wanted to give Hib and Ovoo some designs (as well as giving Zedj and Acktreal my own little spin.) Also Acktreal isn't even in this scene in the og audio, but I make my own rules.
(Blood Warning)
Tumblr media
This was so fun to draw, and I'll probably post individual designs later because I absolutely want to ramble about Hib's design.

Could you write headcanons about invincible united's reaction to Skarra having a gf/bf ?
Honestly, the reactions would depend on each player
They would all be surprised when they see a woman/ man at the parking lot waiting next to Skarra's car. Skarra wouldn't say anything to them until the next day he gets bombarded by Vince and Dooma.
Dooma would be "nice" and "gentlemanly", introduce himself nicely while smirking at Skarra. He knows that Skrra has probably warned you about him and tried to shrug off any suspicion coming from your boyfriend. He would be his usual cunning self while making up small excuses on behalf of Skarra when Vince tried to complain about Skarra finding new distractions. (he won't admit that he is acting like Skarra's big bro)
Vince would be bitching. He would complain and use you as an excuse for every possible mistake that Skarra makes on the field
Dingaan would love you!!!!! Especially if you are kind and patient, he will rant about all his Croccie the Smile-Dile figurines and merch. He may or may not accidentally spill some embarrassing info on Skarra by accident 😇. Dingaan would be like your little brother and the biggest 3rd wheel
Automatic and the others are formal. they wont jump to get to know you and wont ever plan to. To be fair, they don't trust you entirely, but will talk to you (Domma told them to behave) if you engage the conversation first.

I have been thinking how it's about time for CN to get a new vignette event, and that made me remember To Be Continued. Currently, there are two chapters that didn't receive any follow up, the Lazurites' and Jesselton's.
I'm actually reasonably sure that Mountain will get a continuation of his story. Both his module and OpRec 2 tease it, we never got Domma as a playable operator despite her officially joining with the rest of Mansfield crew (so she is likely another Leto), and Jesselton's chapter might be connected to that.
Meanwhile, the Lazurites chapter can link to a whole bunch of stories. Return to Kazimierz (there is also a conspicuous lack of OpRecs for almost all Pinus Sylvestris girls which might point at that), the mythical Minos event (may or may not connect to Pallas's story from Preluding Lights), or maybe even the greater Sarkaz plot (Darksteel is a Sarkaz and there is obvious Toland). Hell, a summer event isn't out of question either!
And speaking of Preluding Lights (another omnibus that seems to be a teaser for later events), Castle of Dreams and Carnelian are also still in limbo, though I feel that at least Carnelian's subplot was abandoned.

I have been trying to find an answer online but I can't quite find what I'm looking for, if you don't mind can you help provide some insight?
Basically my question is did the medival people of Ireland honest to god believe in pseudo historical texts like the Book of invasions and related traditions. Like they believed in 6 waves of people coming to ireland under Christian cosmology.
Or was this more of a literary tradition for generally understood to be fictional or not quite accurate stories?
So it's been. Months. But if it's any consolation, this DID thoroughly haunt me!
I also cleared it with a colleague of mine who does work on like. Medieval Irish conceptions of history, so it's been vetted by Someone Who Is Not Me, at least the rough outline (I am NOT showing them my Tumblr, god forbid.)
And...for the most part? Yeah. They did. They sometimes argued FIERCELY over little details, like the Tuatha Dé coming in a cloud of mist or whether or not they burned their ships, or whether they were doing it to get away from Lugh. They cited texts that they thought were particularly authoritative, like the Holiest of the Holies, the now-lost Cín Domma Snechtai, they refuted other scribe's suggestions, sometimes very aggressively. I mean, you have scholars into the 20th century believing in this, at least to some extent or another, like Eoin MacNeill in his Phases of Irish History (1919) or T.F. O'Rahilly in his Early Irish History and Mythology (1946). Obviously not in terms of like. The Tuatha Dé as a supernatural race of people, but in the sense of what might best be described as extreme euhemerization, using these medieval texts as a way of trying to unveil a lost Irish pre-history. (It goes without saying this is NOT my approach and not how most of us approach the field, but it was quite common decades ago.)
Geoffrey Keating, in the 17th century, would write his History of Ireland, which used LGE as one of its key pieces of evidence in his attempt to hit back against less than savory accounts by anglophone scholars, of Irish history. "LOOK at our history, LOOK at our glorious past, LOOK at what we can do." It's imminently sympathetic, honestly. (Though Geoffrey shouldn't be taken to be credulous -- he explicitly says that Cath Fínntragha, for example, was not to be taken as a true historical account.) There's a bit, perhaps slightly amusing by modern standards, in his prologue where he says, "Cambrensis [Gerald of Wales], who undertook to give a correct account of everything, appears to have received a medley of fables from some dunce or blind man, for he has said nothing of the conquest of the Tuatha-De-Dananns, who possessed Ireland one hundred and ninety-seven years, during which time nine kings of their nation rules the island."
This is a man who does, firmly, believe in what he's saying and in the veracity of the sources that he has. We also see LGE and the pseudohistorical scheme in general being adopted by Keating's contemporaries, such as Dubhaltach mac Fhirbhisigh (Leabhar na nGenealach) and Roderic O'Flaherty (Ogygia), some of the best scholars of their day and men who...this is my bias speaking, but I trust them. Especially Dubhaltach. I don't have my copy to hand, but the way he speaks about his sources, the way that he's willing to argue with them even as he includes them in his work...I believe him. Or. Let me rephrase that. I believe that HE believed in what he was saying, and I believe in his integrity as a scholar. They're men who absolutely have an angle! But they're men who are using the sources that they have to defend their country from some truly awful slander using the best materials they have at the time, as methodically as possible.
Charles O'Conor, one of the, in my opinion, crucially overlooked scholars of the 18th century, a man who the field owes a massive debt to for his activism and his large collection of manuscripts (some of which, through a story I'll tell sometime if anyone's interested, become the Stowe Collection), was skeptical, saying that Keating's work, "Is a most injudicious Collection; the historical part is degraded by the fabulous, with which it abounds. Keating was one of those laborious Readers, who, in making Extracts, do it without Selection or Discernment; and suchWorks (as the judicious Mac-Firbis observes -- ought never to be published." Personally, while I appreciate boosting Dubhaltach and his work, I think he's too harsh on Keating. It's very easy to judge someone's scholarship when you're living a century ahead of them. He is much more skeptical than Keating, trying to compare native sources up against other contemporary histories of Europe, but he DOES still use LGE as a vital source -- he doesn't discount it or its invasion scheme entirely. He is still very much treating it as a historical document, albeit one that he doesn't fully believe in. (Especially since he's kind of fighting with James MacPherson, of Ossian fame. Because apparently getting into massive public debates with people whose work is enjoying a lot of popularity and that we think involves shoddy research is a time honored tradition in the field.)
But there is a reason why it gets picked up, even into the 20th century, because when you've had your history continually belittled and marginalized, when your language has been driven to the point of near extinction, when you are constantly told that you don't HAVE anything worth being proud of, not compared to the Grand History of England or the classical tradition, that you're a nation of barbarians and beggars...of course you want to believe in it. Of course you want to believe that you can salvage SOMETHING. Especially since these are your ancestors saying it. Your ancestors, reaching across this seemingly insurmountable chasm of time, telling you "look, this is your history." Do I think everyone in medieval Ireland agreed with it? Probably not. There was probably at least one person who was like "well...do we KNOW, though?" In the same way as there were very likely people who thought "King Arthur...did he exist?" Or those oddballs in the modern day who claim the Roman Empire didn't exist. There are always going to be people who are a little skeptical, even of what are the generally accepted truths of a certain time period, but I would say that in general? The trend we see is broad belief, because this is the best historical source that people had for centuries -- they had no reason to strongly doubt it, even if they argued over the details.

We need a continuation of Mountain's story because Domma is still in NPC jail.
Haha, fair enough, but theoretically she could get out of NPC jail without actually being part of a new event. That's happened to Jaye and, uh, Kazemaru?

New AK ask. What region (Columbia, Sargon, Kazdel, etc) do you want to learn more about the most? Who do you think we should be following in an event that explores it?
Ooh this is a neat one, yeah. Let's start with considering those 3 first as there's certainly things to say there.
Columbia - We still have Lonetrail yet to drop and any further storyline following that for the Rhine Lab arc, plus there's now the upcoming Blacksteel Worldwide event Come Catastrophes or Wakes of Vultures to give us further exploration.
I want them to free Domma from NPC jail but that might require a Mountain Alter-worthy event :/ Orchid, Frostleaf or Vigna might have more potential there.
Sargon - We have the Acahualla storyline that may get a third event, and now Reclamation Algorithm: Fire Within the Sand has provided an expansion of the Sand Soldier/Old Isin section of Walk in the Dust story. Manticore gets some story time from that one too, which was nice to see.
A look at Beeswax getting to do her own thing more confidently might be fun, but then personally I'd be more down for something following adorably-precious Estelle who has been given snippets so far of her getting through her anxieties and dealing with that 'being seen as a battle goddess' moment. That IS2 mapping with the Archosauria trio was perfect, we need more.
Kazdel - This would be interesting since they only ever showcased it as cold, snow-covered ruins until that one scene in Episode 11 of the capital that repeatedly got destroyed and rebuilt. Most of the related cast are major players of the main story Act 2, whether as NPCs unlikely to join or Operators resolving certain threads and fates.
(Playable Closure is so close yet just out of reach...) Hoederer might be a good solo event candidate as a What the F... style interlude if we regroup with him in Episode 13. Or hey, Meteorite Alter please? She needs something after the whole 'traumatised by autopilot!Specter fighting' gag and her story with Firewatch... W Alter could be an Episode-related moment if that has any possibility.
Sami is going to be covered by IS4 and its coinciding vignette event for Typhon, Skógrinn Svartr Vill Einn Draumr. Aegir will likely be explored through the next installment of the Abyssal Hunters storyline.
We need events for Durin, Higashi, Rim Billiton and Minos for further explorations/catching up to other locales.
Seeing Croque and Deculture again would be great but not anything new Durin-wise so maybe we could have sleepyhead Durin visiting elsewhere. We don't particularly need a Myrtle Alter unless she's gonna be the Ultra-Super Flagbearer to show up Saileach...
So far Higashi has effectively been vaguely explained as doing their own thing and one additional loadscreen lore tidbit established how they curbstomped Ursus trying to invade. The recent Leaves Chasing Fire/A Flurry to the Flame Monster Hunter collab featured a rather isolated mountain village, as MonHun is wont to do. My picks for a lead would be: Matoimaru, Tsukinogi and Utage. Overlooked launch unit, niche Supporter, and cute gyaru needs justice for that damn module 'Talent'.
For a Rim Billiton event it could center on April and/or Savage; Ansel; Asbestos on her solo travels. Getting to the bottom of either the incident in Kroos the Keen Glint's past or Popukar's Lumberyard would be neat too.
And Minos - Sideroca or Perfumer Lena, I'd like. They need some appreciation. Rather little to work with compared to others, so yeah we really need some kind of story there.

although skating started out as a vanity hobby, a way for fitz to entice the baddies with the whole he was a skater boy vibe, it quickly turned into one of fitz’s fool-proof stress managers. not academic stress, of course (fitz didn’t believe in all that), but the kind of stress that comes along with losing a brother or, in light of recent events, a professor with whom you shared a complicated relationship. he weaves across campus, skirting against bannisters and curbs when the opportunity strikes, his 5-grand headphones blasting tunes all the while. i like them girls with big butts and golds in they mouth / i come from the back road and a dirty house. admittedly, it was hard to relate to certain hip-hop lyrics as a billionaire’s baby.
at the sight of dominic sitting on a nearby block, fitz slows his swerves until he’s at a halt in front of the other man. “yo domma momma, what’s popping?” he asks. “you’re looking awfully contemplative, something gotcha down? besides, you know…” he trails off. “the obvious.” he reaches into his pocket and pulls out whatever snack is lingering in there, which happens to be a pack of sour gummy worms today. “can i offer you a gummy a la worm for your troubles?” before he gets a response, he dangles three over his mouth and drops them unceremoniously. “i nabbed them from chan the man’s kitchen,” he says between undignified chomps. he follows it with a chaser of a water bottle squirt straight down his throat. “have you ever seen him eat a protein source? or like, a fruit? he knows everything except the essentials of the food pyramid - somebody needs to get boy genius an acai bowl intervention, stat.”

26!! for th ask game
26 - Something you want added to the game: A concrete timeline was prolly number one on that list but they actually added a chronological list of events to CN recently so hai mao is listening to me... I think I would like it if they reran limited banners on their event rerun, the characters could still be only limited to that banner but it feels so weird to have a rerun event that just doesn't have a banner at all. Also playable Domma and Giovanna!!
