{I haven't talked about it yet, but I'm actually a little feral over what Ana and Byron's relationship must be like?}
{Because they definitely definitely have one, right? It's been a really long time since I watched the playthrough, but I remember there being a line where Byron tells Clive an Jill that Ana changed a lot after the duchy fell. Something about her seeming completely changed from her former personality. And like, we do see her being really friggin' rude to Clive, so we as the audience have this idea of what she was like but like??? Byron clearly did not watch this woman verbally harrass Clive and then be like, "Yeah, she's sweet" right? So like, what happened??? Did she get way way worse after Elwin died? Did he think she was a little rude but mostly alright and then she acted horrible policies? Was she normally a very nice woman with most things excepting Clive back then? In what way did she change, and what kind of relationship did they have that what we see in the later parts of the game seem so different to Byron than what she was in the beginning? Were they actually really close before that, just like Byron was with everyone else? Was there something going on there?}
{It's one of those things I wanna put under a microscope and inspect like I'm discovering a new bacteria.}

{God, y'all, I'm sorry, it's been a time. And I know if you're not following my Hanekoma account you have no idea where I've been all this time yikes yikes yikes.}
{So, long story short, my computer got packed away and buried during the holidays, so I haven't had it for basically a whole month. I've been stuck on mobile and I really really don't like having to sign out and sign back in every single time I want to do something on a different account so I just... Didn't?}
{And I still have some things in my drafts to answer, but I'm really hesitant to come back to this blog right now because I haven't seen any of the DLC and I just know there is pertinent information that I need in there.}
{So I'm not entirely sure what's going to happen here in the future. I will come back at some point, I will. I just need to try to find some place to watch the DLC and see what I can dig up on extra info and lore and all that. And I'm not super sure when that's going to happen because I have my other blogs I also want to work on plus I want to make a blog for a Pokemon character from that new DLC. Which is a whole thing in of itself. OTL In any case, the activity is going to be real low, but you can still get ahold of me if you need to. You can DM me and I'll find it at some point or if you want a more immediate answer and we're mutuals you can find me on my disc at Kohitsuji4805.}

{Am I making a headcanon post before I've even made the tags? Yes. Yes I am.}
I just really want to talk about the scene in which Bryon first comes into contact with Clive again after living for so long without his family. He lost his brother and nephews all in one fell swoop, all of which he had a very good and loving relationship with. And immediately after, Anabella turned her back on the Duchy as well, and he was forced to watch Rosaria fall to the Empire.
I want to specifically talk about how when he comes in he's full of hot air and righteous anger like, "Who is coming in here pretending to be my nephew!?" and then he looks at him and has that little hiccup where he has to look away and shake his head. It's such a small gesture, but they way he acts there gives you the impression that this probably isn't the first time he's seen Clive in something. Like he actively has to stop himself and remind himself that no, that isn't Clive. That isn't his nephew that he misses so much.
How many times do you think he saw a stranger on the street, and they were just similar enough that he dared to think for just a moment that Clive or Joshua or Elwin had come home? How many times do you think someone dressed up a look-alike in order to slip into the good graces of the great businessman and incredibly wealthy Lord Rosfield in order to get ahold of his wealth? How many times do you think someone tried to play the long lost nephew or brother card in order to take advantage of him or try to gain status? How many times did he come this close to believing it only to have what little hope was left in him dashed against the ground?
So when he shakes his head and looks back up. When he raises his chin and says in a cold, seething voice, "Clive Rosfield is dead."
I think he's not even talking to Clive in that moment. He's talking to himself. And he has to do that constantly.
No wonder Byron is always in such good spirits. How miserable his life must have been before finding Clive again.

❂⭃ A texture they hate & A texture they love ⥷❂
Sensory Headcanons
⤛⌠❂⌡⤜

One texture Byron absolutely cannot stand is perfectly polished smooth stone. It doesn't kill him to touch it with his fingers, per say, but if his nails come into contact with a smooth, polished surface it has the same effect as a nails on chalkboard sound. His whole nervous system absolutely recoils. Pat the smooth stone, do not scratch it.
A texture that he loves, however, is fine leatherwork. Especially stitching details. It has the exact opposite effect to his senses that scratching smooth stone does. He has a tendency to carefully study any armor or garments he intends to purchase just to give himself an opportunity to feel the leather in his hands and run his thumbs along the stitching.

{Okay, I have a few of you now, so I think I should clear the air of some things before going forward, and I hope everyone gets a chance to see this because I def don't want to disappoint anyone!}
{So, TLDR: I don't know a lot about FFVII and I don't have an FFVII verse for any of my muses, therefore if you need me to have any specific information going forward I'll have to take some spoilers. I won't be playing the newer games at all, most likely.}
{I've noticed I've gotten a few FFVII muses following me lately, and I am so happy that so many of you want to write with me! However, my knowledge on FFVII, especially as it exists now, is preeetty limited. I own but have not played the original game. I got it some time ago and tucked it away for when I finished my other FF games, then never got around to it. When the first FFVII Remake came out on PS4, we got that one, and we were very excited to play it. We also own and have seen Advent Children maybe a dozen times now. And the only game I've ever played to completion was Dirge of Cerberus.}
{But even with all of this, aalll of the information from any amount of media I had concerning FFVII. Gone. Completely. I don't remember the first thing about it, legitimately. Even the first part of the Remake. Gone. I don't know, y'all. I barely even remember FFXVI at this point. And while I do want to eventually get around to playing the original game and the other games that I already own again at some point, Sibling and I have been keeping it in the backlog for a time when we have time to play a Final Fantasy marathon like we did with the Kingdom Hearts and Zelda games, and that's going to take a while. I probably won't be freshening my knowledge of the games up for a good long while.}
{In addition, I won't be buying or playing any Final Fantasy or other Square Enix games going forward. Even if I do ever manage to get my hands on a PS5, I'm not doing it. I just don't feel comfortable with SE's current business practices, and I don't want to support them, even knowing how many folks probably still will. I just don't want to do it knowing now that they used Midjourney on one of their games. So I won't be learning anything about the revised version of FFVII, and I hear that there are some things that are quite different. If y'all need me to know about that stuff, you'll just have to spoil me about it, unfortunately. As much as I would like to play for myself and learn about it, I just don't know that it's safe to do so. I don't know if I could get away with buying the games on the aftermarket or if SE uses the initial launch updates in their analytics. If anyone knows something about that, feel free to let me know, but this is the state of things until I know that SE is going to let AI go and stop using it.}
{This was an awful lot just to say that my knowledge on FFVII is pretty limited, but I hope you guys are still okay with writing with me anyway. I'm going to do my best to give you guys a good experience even with my limited knowledge, I just wanted to give you a heads up on how fairly unlikely it is that I'll be able to keep up with FFVII lore for the meantime.}

❂⭃ @deusmater asked: ⥷❂ ❂⭃ CHANGED! ⥷❂
Glimpses of the Past send CHANGED for a scene from my muse's past that represented a turning point in their life
⤛⌠❂⌡⤜
Byron sat at his desk long into the night, just staring down at smooth, flat surface. That flat piece of wood had felt far too long like a sheet of glass upon which he was precariously perched, playing the part of a jester for the hands of Sanbreque. How he toiled away over stacks and stacks of papers, unraveling everything his brother had ever stood for, only just managing to slip by a bit of coin or two to those names which he supported. So many years where he had been using that place as an instrument of ruin and ignoring the cries beneath him.
But that night had changed everything. Seeing Clive and Jill after such a large span of death and silence, it had completely toppled his world and every single stack of those damn papers. He had never played the part of a villain well, and he could no longer sit idly by and watch the duchy crumble under his hands. Watch the world fall to pieces between the mortar and pestle that was the war between Waloed and Sanbreque. Knowing that Clive was alive, knowing what he was fighting for, how could he possibly continue to waste his days staring at this barren environment at his desk?
Oh, it should have been a very serious moment, but Byron could not fight the corners of his mouth pulling into a grin, couldn't fight for a moment the laughter that started small and began to grow. With a rolling laugh fit for some jolly old king, Byron stood and took his arm to sweep across the surface of his desk to knock every single object into the floor. A shower of paper and trinkets that crashed with a terrible sound, sending its echo through the halls like a banshee crying out in the night.
Byron's servants rushed to the door of his study, crowding around in fear and concern. A stray voice called out among the rest: "My lord, whatever is the matter!? What are you doing?"
Byron turned to face them, hands on his hips and a smile beaming larger and brighter than any who worked at the estate had seen in a great many years, "Ready a ferry for me, my man. I am joining Cid the Outlaw!"
A cacophony of confusion and concern erupted from the staff, and with the chaos a great many rebuttals to deny such a short-sighted idea, but Byron merely laughed, hard and loud, and sauntered out of the room to his bedchamber. It was time for him to ready himself for a great adventure.

{I just wanted to pop over here to say that I really am trying to get more active here. If you're not around my Hanekoma blog you should know that I've been nothing but dial-up tones all day long and this continues to be the case. Can't even keep up with what I've finished and I've tried writing on drafts here so many times today. aksksso I know y'all will always have patience for me, but I just wanted to let you know what was up because I know it must seem like I just poof if you're not following ol' decaf.}

{None of you would happen to have an idea of where I could find all of Byron's dialogue, would you? I wanted to use dialogue as tags but I'm having trouble. Short of just... Scrubbing that 51 hour video I watched and hoping it has everything I'm not sure what other way to get ahold of it.}

What famous author do you write like?
Tumblr media
{Leo Tolstoy wrote War and Peace, as a reference. This is incredibly interesting to me because I have never read any work by this author and have no way of having been influenced by him. I wondered if it might have been because I was using a sample from Byron. Since a lot of my work deals with internal monologues and descriptive aesthetics of the muse in question, I wondered if using a drastically different muse would make a difference.}
{So I put in an excerpt from the main verse of my Hanekoma muse over at @strawberry-barista and I got this:}
Tumblr media
{Or, author of Interview with the Vampire. Which I have also never read, but you know. I think it used Tolstoy in this instance because of the language and the setting. I'm not sure what parts of my writing were similar to these two artists, but it was really interesting to check out anyway!}
