#for legal purposes this is a joke#also for illegal purposes#but i AM a little bit serious about it: we have native names for these plants! it is very confusing to import other people's names!#also i don't trust international foraging information? not because it's bad or wrong just.#there are too many plants that look the same and have the same names in different countries but are Not the same#(ESPECIALLY in north america where a lot of things are named after “stuff british colonists thought it looked like”)#it's confusing enough trying to wrangle the 1032543 names any given common plant will have in british english#without adding american english into the mix#(also it is my understanding that this is not necessarily yankee-doodle-dumbassery. i think the canadians call it fireweed too.)#(but my core point stands)#also this is the same group who didn't know what a deadnettle was called#i actually DO think they know a lot about foraging but just. not about plant names? which is kind of odd tbh.#also i am realising that *i* know a lot about plant names which somewhat challenges my self-image
