happy epicus day!! we have a special question for the occasion:
does your oc/self-insert believe in witchcraft? (or, if they're in a universe that does have magic/witchcraft, what do they think of it?) do they practice it at all?

Black Stone Wielder - Candlemass
A procession of dark coats followed the star Foretold to come since ages In silence, they walked on, crossing the lands On their way to Bethlehem to break the chains of the spell

You're probably sick of seeing haveyouheard or doyouknowthis blog trend by now, but the person behind this blog was impulsive and decided to hop on the trend.
As the url indicates, it is a blog dedicated to asking if you've heard a certain metal band.

Candlemass: Candlemass (2005)
None more ... white?
Is it really possible that 20 years have already passed since Swedish doom giants Candlemass reunited with vocalist Messiah Marcolin for what proved to be a one-off, self-titled reunion album?
I guess we should have known it wouldn't last, and I even initiated my old All-Music Guide review by pointing out that the "arduous three-year process of reuniting Candlemass' 'classic' lineup had all the makings of a psychodrama."
Allegedly, it all started with a spontaneous wedding-day jam that led to sporadic concerts, noncommittal songwriting and demo sessions, and, after everything fell apart at least once due to the usual "irreconcilable differences" an equally unexpected about-face that birthed this eponymous LP.
And, aside from its blank-slate, white cover art simplicity, perhaps the most surprising thing about this long-awaited comeback was that Candlemass endeavored, not just to rekindle their very successful formula, but to build upon it, as well.
That mixture of nostalgic purity and newfound vitality was immediately felt in hard-charging opener "Black Dwarf," the descending melodic figures of the lumbering "Seven Silver Keys," and the hypnotic riffs and grandiose keyboards of "Assassin of the Light."
Varying degrees of the known and unknown follow, and for every new angle like the space-themed "Copernicus" or the apocalyptic "Born in a Tank," there were prototypical Candlemass doom anthems cut from the Nightfall and Ancient Dreams mold like "Witches" and "Spellbreaker."
The instrumental "The Man Who Fell from the Sky" didn't do much for longtime fans, hungry to hear as much of Marcolin's histrionic, operatic wails as they could get, but trust me when I say there was plenty of that through to the suitably epic finale of "The Day and the Night."
Obviously, none of this would have been possible without bassist Leif Edling's undiminished songwriting talents and endless stores of monolithic, Sabbath-y riffs, but lead guitarist Lars Johansson also stood out with his especially inspired solos (see "Assassin ..." and "... Tank," in particular).
Rhythm guitarist Mats Bjorkman and drummer Jan Lindh also fulfilled their less prominent but vital roles to perfection, so it was unfortunate, if not unexpected, when the mercurial Marcolin soon fell out with Edling yet again.
But not before Candlemass' eighth studio effort had won the Swedish Grammy for 'Best Heavy Metal Album' and presented thousands of doom-loving metal-heads with a final taste of this formidable group's volatile but alchemical line-up.
As I wrote in my AMG review, when attempting to entice as many fans as possible to give the album a chance: "The power of Candlemass compels you!"
p.s. -- This 2019 Back on Black vinyl reissue included the fast-paced, esoteric bonus track, "Mars and Volcanoes," on its two-LP, white with black and red splatter wax.
More Candlemass: Epicus Doomicus Metallicus, Nightfall, Ancient Dreams, Tales of Creation, Live; plus Krux: Krux II, Krux III: He Who Sleeps Amongst the Stars.

Metal #2
I love listening to metal records that were released decades ago. I'm not a fan of edgy metal sound like Bring Me The Horizon, The Black Dahlia Murder or 3 Inches of Blood. My taste for Death Metal or Extreme Metal has faded, too.
After listening to Hangman's Chair's Saddiction and Pantera's albums so many times, my interest of metal regained me a bit of interest in this year.
Metal albums I dig that were released years ago:
Hangman's Chair - Saddiction Hangman's Chair - A Loner King Woman - Celestial Blues Emma Ruth Rundle / Thou - May Our Chambers be Full ======== Alcest - Les voyages de l'ame (2012) Ghost - Meliora (2015) Ghost - Prequelle (2018) Hangman's Chair - Banlieue triste (2018) Hangman's Chair - This is Not Supposed to be Positive (2015) Mastodon - The Hunter (2011) ======== Atreyu - Lead Sails Paper Anchor (2007) Bullet For My Valentine - The Poison (2005) Disturbed - Ten Thousand Fists (2005) Evanescence - Fallen (2003) Killswitch Engage - Alive or Just Breathing (2002) Killswitch Engage - As Daylight Dies (2006) Killswitch Engage - The End of Heartache (2004) Mastodon - Leviathan (2004) Nadja - Touched (2003) Opeth - Blackwater Park (2001) Pulse Ultra - Headspace (2002) Rob Zombie - The Sinister Urge (2001) The Angelic Process - Weighing Souls with Sand (2007) The Angelic Process - Coma Waering (2003) ========= Burzum - Hvis Lyset Tar Oss (1994) Metallica - Metallica (1991) Opeth - My Arms, Your Hearse (1997) Pantera - Vulgar of Display Power (1992) Pantera - Cowboys from Hell (1990) Pantera - Far Beyond Driven (1994) Theatre of Tragedy - Aegis (1998) Type O Negative - October Rust (1996) ======== Candlemass - Epicus Doomicus Metallicus (1986) Candlemass - Nightfall (1987) Def Leppard - Hysteria (1987) Dokken - Under Lock and Key (1985) Guns N' Roses - Appetite For Destruction (1987) Judas Priest - Defenders of the Faith (1984) Judas Priest - Screaming For Vengeance (1982) Judas Priest - Turbo (1986) Metallica - Master of Puppets (1986) Motorhead - Another Perfect Day (1983) Motley Crue - Shout At the Devil (1983) Ozzy Osbourne - Blizzard of Ozz (1980) Ozzy Osbourne - Diary of a Madman (1981) Ozzy Osbourne - The Ultimate Sin (1986) Ratt - Invasion of Your Privacy (1985) = Black Sabbath - Sabotage (1975)
