Brotherhood of Steel Knight Elle Douglas: formerly of the US Military, recipient of a now-useless Law degree, recent Vault 111-dweller, mother of Shaun “Father” Douglas, and widow of the late Nate Douglas was now absolutely none of those things.
The woman in question simply didn’t exist.
Her former body stood, gripping the edge of the stainless steel table in front of it with every ounce of strength left in the hands. The body leaned hard to port because its knees had given way almost completely. The eyes rested on the brusque salt-and-pepper-haired woman across from it, and the mouth was fixed in a pleasant smile. Not that any of that mattered.
Elle wasn’t home.
Dr Li stood across the table from the upright body that once housed Elle, delicately using a minuscule screwdriver to install a chip into Elle’s PipBoy, she was speaking, but Elle couldn’t hear her.
“...map, and then the relay will-”
A whine, suggestive of microphone feedback, superseded the Doctor’s speech. Suddenly Elle was back inside her body, looking across the table at the woman instead of down at both of them from a spot on the ceiling.
Feeling the stainless steel under her hands and the temperature controlled air on her sweating face, Elle had officially returned to her body in full. She was surprised both that she existed again, and that the screeching buzz from a moment ago hadn’t interrupted Li’s monologue. The woman droned on, and finally Elle was able to hear and understand some of her words.
“What?” Elle nearly barked, trying not to pant. “What about a map?”
“I said,'' Dr Li had already been harried and rude when Elle had entered the room ten minutes prior, and the interruption to her explanation had pushed her well past the point of any remaining politeness. “If you select a location on your map, see here,” Li held out the PipBoy so that Elle could see the sickly green and black screen. “Then press the side button here, while flicking up on the selector, then the relay should deposit you at that location.”
Elle swallowed hard, feeling as if something large and solid was lodged in her neck. “That’s incredible, thank you,” she managed to choke the words past the blockage.
Elle reached for the PipBoy, and both she and Doctor Li noticed at the same time that her hand was shaking like that of a person having some sort of serious medical event.
“Are you okay?” Li asked, looking directly at Elle for the first time since they met.
Li sounded tremendously annoyed to even have to ask.

Something Dicey (At The Precipice Of Something New Chapter XLIII)
Having made it past the Rust Devils, Paladin Danse, Scribe Haylen, and Knight Rhys enter the Fort Hagen Hangar with the unusual robot to track the Mechanist and their minions? Dr. Amari, Curie, and the Lone Wanderer receive an escaped synth at the Memory Den who wants to tell what he knows about the Institute before having his memory erased? Nora and Cait take in the progress being made in constructing the signal interceptor while ferocity in Nora's will continue to crack her? Having been admitted into the facility wherein Dima stored his memories by the Children Of Atom, the General, the detective, the secretary, and the General's right hand man and his daughter begin to retrieve the memories of Acadia's leader? Shaun and Nate look over what they have been informed of regarding the luring of Nora to them and the Institute and discuss a potential new member of the Institute with Dr. Alana Secord and Dr. Madison Li, who present them with further push back to what had been kept from them and the rest of the Directorate for far too long?
A lot is moving. Read it on AO3, ff.net, and/or wattpad!!!

“It’s good to see you again, Leon. I wish we’d stop meeting like this.”
short comic about dr. li and leon’s reunion after ten years apart. finally meeting again in the commonwealth and feeling like no time has passed…for better or for worse.
the dynamic between madison and leon in both my fo3 and fo4 canon is so…complicated. and the passage of time doesn’t help things. i think they can be incredibly similar people without realizing it and it causes an unintentional friction, among the other points of contention they may have. but underneath it all there is a very real sense of genuine devotion to the other. they’re a point of connection to their respective pasts and neither would be alive without the other. how do you convey that love to someone who’s always felt a million miles away?
when leon left the brotherhood a little over a year after the events of fo3, madison had already left long ago as well. unfortunately she was discovered by the brotherhood prior to the start of fo4 and forced back into working for them. when leon arrives in the commonwealth post-fo4 and is arrested by the brotherhood for accidentally trespassing in an area they’d cordoned off, it’s madison who verifies his identity and gets him out—not before leon is strong-armed into doing one more favor for maxson, of course. madison and leon had seen each other in passing as he was being escorted away, but this moment is when they actually speak to each other for the first time in over a decade.
what are you supposed to say after all this time? meeting like this, back to square one? i’m glad you’re still alive. you look so much like your father. i’m sorry.

happy oc-tober everypony 💖 finally took the time to draw out my three main fallout characters! i was going to draw all of my ocs out before posting but i couldn't wait to share these i love them so so so much they are my besties truly i made them i live for them and i would and will die for them
some info about each of them under the cut:
jesse: sosu; you know him, you love him, i never shut up about him. early 30s. my vaguely self-insert projection character who's taken on a life of his own at this point (but in my heart he will always be an extension of me to some extent). anyway. science guy, pacifist-adjacent. pre-war he was a radiologist w/ a concentration in epidemiology and was one of the last researchers trying to cure the new plague. his story in-game is less about shaun and more about the question of whether or not he's a synth (he's not but he's manipulated into thinking he is for a long long time). works with the railroad but has a falling-out with them post-game and takes up post as a doctor in diamond city. soft-spoken but capable. has a few grey hairs because i think it's cute and no other reason (poliosis). he's bi and dating nick. also poly but that's not super important.
bec: lw; i drew her here as she looks at age 29, when she's hanging out in the commonwealth with jesse. i'm not a fan of fo3 so she's truly a fo4 npc who just so happens to have also been the protagonist of fo3. she was injured pretty badly while activating the purifier and suffered severe radiation burns on the right side of her body; it was bad enough that the bos, who took her in, had no other option than to amputate her right arm (she's left-handed). she was coerced into working with the bos in exchange for saving her life and giving her a fully-functioning prosthetic arm but eventually parted ways on less than stellar terms once maxson started worming his way into power. she made he way north on the trail of dr. li and her father, who she had discovered had close ties to the institute (and she herself had a bit of a stake in the synth equation because of how much the replicated man quest affected her). after coming up empty she decided to hunker down in an old red rocket outside of sanctuary hills and turned the garage there into her home. she's a mechanic and loves tinkering with old tech, power armor in particular. she's a lesbian and dating another npc of mine, peaches (aka the general of the minutemen in jess' story).
simon: c6; late-20s. chaotic neutral but not chaotic stupid. dumbass but not dumb. they're related to the chosen one (it's a long and complicated family history that i haven't completely fleshed out yet) and they grew up in arroyo. they were always eager for adventure and set out at a young age for new reno, taking whatever odd jobs they could find. they eventually settled on being a package courier, as it gave him the opportunity to see more of the wasteland they loved so much. they set up a trading post on the long 15 years later and weren't able to escape the blast when it was destroyed; they carry a long scar across the length of their back as a reminder. he's mainly out for himself, but he's also deeply loyal to those few he considers trustworthy. has a soft heart under his silly and slightly abrasive exterior. collects teddy bears and dyes their own hair with a dye they makes themself with a mixture of bleach, clay, and mutfruit. never one to hunker down, they basically vanish back west after hoover dam. unsure if anyone ever sees him again. he's gay and 'dating' arcade (it's very very very very very complicated).

i’m kind of thinking that the… culmination, you could say, of various characters (edith, little shaun, dr li, maybe charlie and gretchen) stories for me will be in new york. i know i wanted charlie and gretchen to only know each other pre-fo4 but alas sometimes the story requires a change. just…. edith tracking down li to find out more about how shaun, as a synth, works. gretchen finding out her sister survived the war. charlie meeting someone who knew his dad for the first time since leaving the capital wasteland. the two worst written fallout heroes meeting each other, etc etc. do you see my vision??? do you understand???

“I’m sure she’d have some not-so-lovely things to say about me, though,” Eliana says with a wry smile. She’s assumed for years that Dr. Li was probably dead as a result of her search for the Institute, but she supposes the older woman thought the same of her. She shrugs, listening as Laura brings up her transition from the vault to the wasteland.
“No training, but my dad taught me how to shoot a BB gun when I was ten. Turned out to be surprisingly useful. Once I got used to the recoil of a real gun, my aim wasn’t half bad,” she replies. “And there was so much happening when I left the vault that I guess I never really thought about how different it was until I was in the thick of it, you know? I adapted before I even realized I needed to.”

Got the oc back at it again, was too lazy to draw her but I made these in the Saints Row Boss Factory a couple weeks back
The previous post abt her never stated her name so Ima give a few basics including updating her that she's been repurposed for Fallout now
I would have screenshots of her in my game save but I can't make her look nice in FO4
Her name is Avalon Wisdom Laydengardr, her codename is Ragnarök, given to her as recognition of her ruthless nature and great strength
She's 26 during the events of Fallout 4, and she stands at roughly 6'4, or alternatively 193.3cm in height
As seen above, she has a pretty hefty build, she's also intended to have curly hair but when does anyone make curly hair
Curly hair in games? In this economy?
She and her mother and sister migrated from Australia when she was a teen, she came from a region widely untouched by the bombs
Her mother is Norwegian, thus despite Ava's obviously Australian accent, she ends up with hints of her mother's here and there
She is VERY loyal to her family and should any harm befall them she'll find out who did it and make them suffer
Avalon is rather aggressive when aggravated and even more so when injured
In fact she's frankly terrifying when injured
Avalon is usually an intellectual so she finds herself in the company of Dr. Li and possibly even Jack Cabot on a good day
Officially I've written her to romance MacCready, since she has a soft spot for him due to what's happened to him and how much he's trying to help his son with his illness
Literally though, she'd kill for him
Alternatively, she's romanced with Danse cos I can't say no to him
Fr I wanna give Danse a hug this isn't a part of the character thing I just- I love him and he needs love and he deserves the world
Srsly his story is so sad ;-;
Idk what else to say

i wish the lone wanderer was mentioned at all in fo4. I get that they dont want to give TLW many canon qualities since its an RPG but theres so many fo3 characters in 4 that could have at least mentioned something objectively true about them.
for instance it would have been cool if you said something to danse like "I'm surprised your organization is open to recruiting outsiders like me" he could say something like "Don't sell yourself short- one of the more influential members the brotherhood has ever had was a civilian fresh from the vault, like you."
if you do the BoS questline maxson could say that you remind him of another vault dweller that aided the BoS when he was a kid.
It seems like at some point Dr Li would mention her research back west with James which would be something at least.
sierra petrovita could mention another person that helped her with her nuka cola collecting endeavors a long time ago.
maccready might be trickier to get a reference in since you can handle that part of the story in a lot of different ways but if good karma TLW is canon he could mention how he didnt trust adults at all as a kid but an adult saving some of the little lamplight kids from slavers one time helped him realize that not everyone is bad, even though good people are still far and few between.
deacon claims he's been to the capital. a few ambiguous little references could have been thrown into his dialogue, implying deacon was disguised as an NPC then too and TLW unknowingly ran into him at some point.
maybe all of these would have been too much altogether but just one or two little lines of dialogue like this would have been nice.

Something Complicated (At The Precipice Of Something New Chapter XLII)
Completely furious, the Institute Directorate confront the Director and his father about what they've learnt of Dr. Virgil and a particular woman from Vault 111? The General of the Minutemen and detective Nick Valentine discuss and consider Kasumi's request they investigate Dima and find what his memories could be hiding? Returning to Sanctuary Hills, Nora struggles with reconciling the past and present? In her new body, Curie, Amari, and Annette prepare for a new synth to come through the Memory Den? Paladin Danse, Scribe Haylen, and Knight Rhys continue tracking the Mechanist?
Happy one year to At The Precipice Of Something New! This is one of my favourite fics to write, and I'm proud of all I've done so far! Read it on AO3, ff.net, and/or wattpad!!!

with dr. li already being back w the brotherhood in my canon by the time fo4 happens, i’m curious what her thoughts on danse are. if they had any interactions before the events of the game, and going into my post-canon. on the other side of that i wonder what danse’s thoughts on her are, and how much he was told about her in regards to her leaving the BoS.

I do! It is quite bit jankier than FO4 and even New Vegas (which introduced some quality-of-life improvements that Bethesda would end up keeping, such as sighted guns) but not unplayably so, it just takes some getting used to. It's quite a bit more pure RPG than FO4 and still utilizes the skill point system, which is utilized in interesting ways, and it has a lot of creative problem solving that is far less present in FO4 (and admittedly, something I miss in that game.)
Like for an example, very early in the game when you head into the town of Megaton, you will learn that the town was constructed around the remains of a plane crash, and at the center of the crater is a big, unexploded nuclear warhead- that is live and active and could theoretically blow at any time. If you mention this to the sheriff, he says nobody in town is skilled enough to disarm it, but he would compensate you if you would. Meanwhile, a shady agent offers you money to blow up the bomb and destroy the town (a cartoonishly evil and kind of stupid choice, imho, but you get a lot of different options on how to deal with this next, based on the skills and perks you have chosen:
- if you have 25 Explosives skill (not difficult to get, even early game) you can disarm the bomb, and are rewarded with caps and a free house.
- if you are female and have the Black Widow perk, you can seduce the shady agent and he will fall instantly in love with you, and you use your wiles to convince him to talk his boss out of blowing up the town (he then sends you creepy love letters.)
- if you alert the sheriff to the agent's presence, he will go confront the agent, who will then murder the sheriff- unless you're fast or strong enough to stop him mid-attempt.
- you can go speak to the agent's boss, a shitty rich guy, and blow up the bomb for what is in essence a stupidly low amount of money to lose an entire town full of NPCs and a free house
- you can speech check most of these people to get a higher reward from them.
- you can also just do nothing, or wait til a later time when you have the skills you want for the quest ending you prefer.
The game is full of quests where you get a lot of fun and interesting choices for how to resolve them, and you often get rewarded for having high skills in certain areas. (Having high Perception and Intelligence has already netted me several unique dialogue prompts, and I know for sure high Medicine skill comes in handy later.)
The graphics are certainly aged, the environment of the Capital Wasteland is bleak and butt ugly to look at, and the (only briefly obligatory) metro tunnels are the fucking worst, but I think it still holds up if you're a fan of the Fallout world and would enjoy a new adventure as a terrified 19-year-old looking for your dad, Liam Neeson. Also some fun lore tidbits and even characters that got callbacks in FO4 (MacCready most notably, but Dr. Li and Sierra Petrovita too, among others I'm probably forgetting.) Also Three Dog is the best of the series DJs. Yeah, you heard me.
Also if you're playing it on Windows 10 there's a whole fucking compatibility problem that I had to troubleshoot my way through, but it can be done fairly simply. Otherwise, the console versions work just fine if you've still got a 360 or PS3 to play with.

okay i have to admit fo4 is so insanely cool about like picking up little bits of lore from fo3 and running with them. can you imagine like playing fo3 when it first releases ur a big fan and then you wait and wait and fo4 comes out. i would go fucking insaaaaane. hearing about the railroad again following the freedom trail to find them. the institute being arguably the most important group to the story. dr li making another appearance this time working against you (depending onyour route). FINDING MACCREADY?? i would lose my fucking shit
