I like to imagine Dogday was co-leader alongside Doey after Poppy went missing, and Dogday was his first true friend and confidant aside from Poppy.
For Dogday to survive being bisected must mean that he was captured at most a month before the Player arrived in the factory. Maybe that’s why Doey looked so out of sorts when we found him; he went from having someone else to rely on for leadership to having to be the leader himself.
