Personality adjustments. I thought it might be interesting to get a glimpse of how Perceptor’s friends and colleagues reacted to him erasing his personality. This is super simple and there’s a lot more to do with this, but for now, this is what I have. Why was there no season 4.

This is from last month and I finally decided to finish this this week because why the hell not! I hope this comic is somewhat understandable ;w;

“I miss being kissed the most.”, said Perceptor quietly, when asked by Getaway what he missed from life as a Wrecker, “Without a doubt, I miss being kissed the most.”

Getaway leered closer, but before he could say a single word- Perceptor glared at him, letting his optic scope flicker a targeting light on. The scientist simply shook his head, and Getaway swallowed awkwardly before taking a half step away.

And Perceptor worked on. As cycles faded in and out of focus, as voices faded in and out of hearing range and as memories faded in and out of his processor, still he worked on. And when the sounds of snarls and gunfire reached him- when the sounds of rebellion and retrieval penetrated the walls of the lab that was the closest to home and happiness he had left-

Perceptor ran. Streaking down the halls in a blur as his pistols materialized in his hands and he bulled through the heavy doors and fired on the first unfriendly face he saw.

Not one of the lost lights of the Lost Light, no.

But one of the crewmembers he’d been suffering everyday since Rodimus and his group had left. 

Targets fell like singed effigies from frayed rope and Perceptor felt his spark lighten with every fallen mech as he heard Rodimus bellow over the makeshift battlefield As he heard Magnus’s seismic crash of a voice, as he heard Ratchet’s bitter swearing...?

He paused, listening closer for a moment- only for a red arm to hook around his neck. A hard jerk, and a gunbarrel was pressed to the side of his helm.

“Drop ‘em, Percy. Or this’ll be one shot you DON’T come back from.”, snarled Blaster against his audial.

“Don’t be stupid, Blaster.”, he whispered back, “Let me go, and I will let you live.”

“Like hell I’m letting you go.”, growled Blaster, “You’re too valuable an asset to let go of, now drop your-”

Blaster’s voice abruptly stopped, and he gagged hoarsely as his arm loosened and clattered to the floor. His weapon followed it and he staggered to the side to collapse. His arm had been sliced cleanly from his frame, and he yowled in sudden pain from fraying lines and shorn steel.

“Chalk up another save on my tab, yeah?”

Perceptor turned, to see Drift grinning back at him. Sword drawn and dripping energon as he laughed quietly.

“Hey Percy.”

Perceptor’s reticule dropped to the floor with a clatter as his optic grew wide, wider, until he felt coolant bead in the corner.

“Speechless, new record.”, said Drift, “And... about saying things, important ones...”

Drift reached out, grabbing the edge of Perceptor’s chestplate and dragging the stunned scientist into a hard kiss that tasted like ‘I Missed You’ and felt like coming home.

Perceptor’s knees nearly gave out beneath him as Drift’s arm went around his slim waist; and when they finally separated,breathless with warm faceplates, Rodimus broke the moment down the center.

“LISTEN YOU TWO, I WILL HAPPILY GIVE YOU HONEYMOON LEAVE LATER ON BUT RIGHT NOW WE NEED TO NOT DO THE DYING THING PLEASE?!”

2: Drift x Perceptor

~Slow and steady…but for how long?~

The words still rung in Perceptor’s audials as if they had just been said.

“I like you. But I don’t expect anything, I just wanted you to know.”

They had come from a most unexpected bot; Drift. Love and attraction was so….complicated. It wasn’t so easily explained like science, you couldn’t just map out equations and suddenly it all made sense. It freaked Perceptor out in ways nothing else could. It was just so raw and unexplainable and he still couldn’t wrap his head around that Drift had approached him with such feelings.

He expected Brainstorm. He’d been expecting that for several cycles now, but not Drift. He’d doubly shut down and if the situation had lasted long he might have found some way to excuse himself, but Drift was brief and gentle with his words. And he hasn’t done or said anything about it since. That was even more perplexing. Normally when someone stated they liked you it usually… lead to things. But Drift has kept uncharacteristically distant, nodding in recognition and giving kind but passing words.

It’s actually kind of perfect, in a weird way. This way Perceptor can really think about how he feels, without feeling the pressure of someone desiring an answer. And after a few days he feels like he has an answer.

So he goes looking.

He finds Drift with Rodimus, again trying to teach their Captain how to wield his blades. Perceptor falters for a moment, not sure of himself suddenly, and not really wanting to interrupt. Unfortunately he’s already been noticed. Rodimus quirks an optic ridge at him and Drift just looks at him with vague surprise.

“Do you need something Perceptor?” Rodimus asks, sounding vaguely miffed.

Straightening a bit more he clears his throat, “I was wondering if I could borrow Drift for a moment?”

Now they both look surprised, but there’s something else bubbling up behind Drift’s optics. Even Perceptor, from this distance, can see the shift in his mood. Nervous excitement.

“Fine, just don’t be long.” Rodimus says with an exaggerated sigh.

Drift looks like he’s trying very hard not to simply bound across the room, and the smile is clearly being restrained from its full glory. Perceptor steps back into the empty hall and Drift follows, but the silence lingers for a moment.

“So, what did you need?” Drift asks gently.

“I’ve thought about it. About you. I’m not….opposed.” It doesn’t escape him how serious and odd that sounds and he fumbles for different words for a few moments, but a gentle servo on his shoulder makes him still.

Drift is just smiling at him, beaming really, and Perceptor thinks for a moment how adorable Drift looks when he smiles like that. Then his voice comes out, soft and gentle, like always.

“It’s okay, you know. We’ll go your pace with, whatever this is. I don’t want you to feel uncomfortable or cornered. I know you’re a bit skittish with this sort of thing.”

Perceptor blinks owlishly at Drift and it only seems to warm the glow in the other bot’s optics further. His gaze wanders to the servo on his shoulder and it he takes it in his own, looking it over thoughtfully.

“P-Perceptor?”

“I’m not really that skittish….I just need time to think about things when it comes to…affection.”

He casts his gaze up at Drift’s face as he lowers his helm, simultaneously bringing Drift’s servo up to meet his lips. Knuckles against soft plating and the look on Drift’s face; he’s completely baffled and it’s possibly even more adorable than the smile he was wearing just a moment before.

Perceptor pulls away and smiles warmly at Drift.

“Thank you for giving me space, but I think I know where I stand.”

Three Chapter Update!

Things Get Broken gets a triple chapter update thanks to last night’s stream!

Hey so I've been wondering about the whole Perceptor/Drift thing. I've just read MTMTE up to issue 46 and I haven't seen them interact yet. Are they gonna appear in RID together, or did they appear in another comic? Ps: love your art. Hope you have a good day!

Ohhh shit alright it’s taking every part of my body not to get into a long monologue about how much I fucking love this ship, but yes, they’re from a different comic!

They first meet in Spotlight:Drift and also interact together in All Hail Megatron! I’ll be honest, there’s not a lot of interaction between them in AHM (but Spotlight:Drift is super important for the two of them) and it’s the kind of ship where their absence from the main action in general is kind of the fodder for the ship. Not that it doesn’t have basis, don’t get me wrong, there’s enough fun to be had! 

So much fun

But yeah I am kinda sad that they don’t interact in MTMTE anymore. Drift says Percy’s name like… once. In the first chapter. That’s basically it.They do have a history together and I would love for them to do things together again. I’m not saying this from a shipping point of view by the way, I don’t live in denial, I know they’re not canon, but I mean, I just want them to do something. Sit together in a lab. Say hi to each other in the hallway. Just something ;w;

But yes, that’s where they meet and interact! I hope this helps!
