The following tips and advice for running D&D games comes from years of research, hundreds of interviews, and thousands of surveys from both new and experienced DMs. Be careful at 1st level. 1st level characters are extremely vulnerable, more than at any other level in the game. Consider giving 1st level characters five extra hit points. Don't run more creatures in a battle than there are characters and run only monsters with a challenge rating of 1/4 or below. Level the characters up to 2nd level quickly. The Starter Set and Essentials Kit adventures can be lethal if a DM isn't careful.

Soo, I wanted to get into art for a while now, and finally decided to try some stuff (mostly faces and expressions thus far and experimenting with different kind of brushes).

While doing this the idea to recreate Kiwi, the little bard from Wandersong (on the left), as my own little bard (he's 155 cm small xD) Ravion, got stuck in my head.

I simplified a lot of his design because I'm still intimidated by a lot of stuff, but I tried my hand at the hat he doesn't like (but I do, it's dashing, he really should wear the thing).

i think every aspiring beginner DM should listen to the spy oneshots (unfortunately only on patreon/members-only) or any early jrwi episodes because they just significantly reduced my expectations for myself as a DM. DnD is really just friends gathering to goof around and occasionally go off the rails

I made a simplified character sheet to teach new players DnD in a way that’s less overwhelming :3

Thought I’d post it here in case anybody wanted to use it since everything I can find online still has a good amount of stuff that isn’t strictly necessary to play

Should work for all classes up to 4th level, once you get to 5th leave though most casters will need a separate sheet entirely dedicated to spellcasting

im a super duper new DM who's gonna run a first level oneshot for my family who are also absolute beginners to D&D. im learning lots thru wathcing JRWI and googling stuff, even thru character creation with my players, but if anybody that sees this has advise for a first time DM running a game with first time players, im all ears!
