like this menu for the farm type workshops is just a disaster. none of the icons for any of the stuff there show because they don't exist in ascii, so you're left with these huge empty boxes everywhere. you could even just put the hotkey in there for what you want and it'd be a huge improvement over this.

This menu is just plainly dysfunctional with the custom ascii. tempted to just move back to v47 but my dustbox of a pc runs so much better with the latest v50 and the native linux support is always nice.

Finally decided to try play more dwarf fortress v50 with ascii because the game feels so much more clean and fresh but I can't get over how much the UI sucks with it. I could barely get the 18x18 tileset I use on v47 to work without it trying to squash the font down so I switched to a 16x16 one and it just isn't the same. I'm sure I'll get used to it, and there might be better support later down the line for modifying it but it is such a shame.
