Chapters: 9/? Fandom: The Hobbit - All Media Types, The Hobbit (Jackson Movies) Rating: Mature Warnings: Creator Chose Not To Use Archive Warnings, Major Character Death Relationships: Fíli & Kíli (Tolkien) Characters: Fíli (Tolkien), Kíli (Tolkien), Dís (Tolkien), Dís's Husband (Tolkien), Thorin Oakenshield, Balin (Tolkien), Dwalin (Tolkien), Óin (Tolkien), Glóin (Tolkien), Glóin's Wife (Tolkien), Gimli (Tolkien) Additional Tags: Durin Family Feels (Tolkien), Hurt/Comfort, Angst, Trans Character, Trans Fíli (Tolkien), Dwarf Culture & Customs, Fíli-centric (Tolkien), Protective Siblings, Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder - PTSD, Other Additional Tags to Be Added, Grief/Mourning, Angst and Humor, Fíli's and Kíli's childhood, Asexual Character
Summary:
Fíli does the only thing he can think of. The one thing, that has worked two times thus far. He bends down and leans his face to Kíli’s left ear. “Don’t die. Don’t die, little brother,” he whispers, his voice breaking, and pulls back to look into Kíli’s ashen face. “Don’t die. Please don’t die.” Kíli’s face is calm, the fear is gone. He is deathly pale.
This time it does not work.
(Thorin and Kíli die on Ravenhill and Fíli becomes the King of Erebor, though this is not where this story starts. It begins in 2859 in Ered Luin, when a little Dwarfling is born, whose most important title will always be Fíli, big brother of Kíli.)
Chapter summary:
Dís wipes a few stray hairs out of Thorin's face and fusses over his braids. “Oh brother,” she says and clucks her tongue. “You have to stop greying. You make me feel ancient just looking at you.”
Thorin sputters in outrage. “I– ancient? How– this is unbelievable!”

Just before Christmas, here's another chapter I just posted!!! An early Christmas gift for anyone who wants to read. We are hitting close to the end of this ACT (or volume, I should have called it that since this is not a play, lol) so only one or two more chapters left before I start writing ACT VI! I can't believe Reforged and Strengthened is essentially five books long, six if you count Reforged, story one, and still going. I just keeping going, don't I? lol.
Anyway, Happy Holidays Everyone!!!

I was going through references for dwarven clothes and stumbled upon those little hats dwarflings wear and i couldn't help myself but imagine Dwobbit Frodo wearing one. Then i ended up with a whole outfit lol. I wanted to make two variants. One for winter, explaining why Frodo is wearing boots, and another one for less colder seasons. I also wanted to depict the duality of his character, where he's a very sweet and a little bit shy boy and where he's acting more boisterous and adventurous! His design is still under development and i plan on adding more details!
Also i just cant not draw Thorin ugly crying whenever he sees his son (he understands Gloin more now)

Dwalin finds his brother on a little crest of hill overlooking the camp one night, about two months into their quest. This isn't unusual, Balin has always sought peace and quiet in which to gather his thoughts. It's one of few, yet crucial similarities the brothers have always shared, even when they were young, their temperaments and tempers mixing like oil and water, they'd always shared a mutual understanding that sometimes - often, when Dwalin was still a tempestuous little Dwarfling - the best way to forgive one another, was to get the hell away from each other.
Which is why it's odd now, grown and come around the bend on their youthful misalignment, to know he's welcome in his brother's quiet reverie. Odder still to know he's not the cause.
Balin doesn't greet him as he sinks into place beside him, but he does scooch ever so slightly to the side to give him some more room and that's good enough for Dwalin. He doesn't smoke much anymore, but he takes a minute to watch Balin's pipe glow in the dark, a cherry little coal kept alive by the Dwarf's angry puffing.
He's not entirely certain what's transpired, but knows that look well enough by now.
"He'll come around," Dwalin says eventually, and contents himself to receive no answer. There's no need for one anyway, not when they both know who he means; not when they both know the truth of it, their king's temper growing shorter the closer they came to achieving - or missing - their goal, his forgiveness following just as quickly. It's made for a real ball buster of a quest, but it is heartening to know Thorin can accept criticism, even if it takes him a few days and many surly looks to do so.
Which is why he's surprised when Balin bothers to acknowledge his words at all, his lips curling in a wry smile around the stem of his pipe. "Believe he already has," he says, nodding at the circle of their encampment below, and Dwalin's gaze follows.
"By my beard," he mutters, eyes locked on the figure of their stoic young king. "Are both seeing this?"
"If what you're seeing is a lovesick fool of a Dwarf trying his damndest to braid a courting lock into a Hobbit's sleek little mop of hair, then aye, we see the same thing."
Silence stretches for long moments, so deep that Dwalin can hear the popping of the fire below, and it takes him a moment to recognize that the whole camp has fallen quiet, even the droning of Fili and Kili's inane chattering now ceased. Indeed, the only one fool enough to break it is the Hobbit himself, Bilbo's high, squeaking voice calling across the space easily enough. Dwalin catches something about a rabbit and a head of lettuce and needs hear no more to know it's not what commands such stillness.
"Do ye think he knows?"
Balin scoffs. "That timid creature? If he knew he'd be no more than a boiling puddle right now. Can't imagine this is exactly proper by his standards."
"It's barely proper by ours," Dwalin amends, and Balin hups in agreement. "I hadn't even realized Thorin had figured it out himself, yet."
"Aye, the stubborn lad. Thought he'd be burying our burglar in the royal tombs before he realized the epitaph should maybe read consort,'" Balin muses.
Dwalin takes a moment to picture it, the sadfuture that may have been, and the king who would have found no joy in the home which he had fought to reclaim. And yet, ass he watches, Thorin ties off his pitiful little braid and inspects it, no doubt resigning himself to a new daily schedule judging by the way he frowns at Bilbo's fine hair. Dwalin smiles ruefully. "Well, let's hope our Hobbit realizes sooner than that as well."
"Oh, I should think so," Balin assures, tamping out his bowl. Though his eyes remain glued to the pair below, assessing. "Bilbo is not nearly so stubbornly blinded as his other half."
Except just then, as if specifically meant to contradict the old Dwarf, Bilbo's clever fingers itch over his scalp, seeking out the thong that holds the braid in place, dithering all the while. "You know actually, now that it's in, I rather don't like how it pulls. Think I'll just manage with my hair in my face, thank you."
The eruption of movement that follows is impressive in it's coordination, all thirteen members of Thorin's original company all springing to attention as they beg him no wait! stop!

Thorin: *following Balin around the corner* I still do not see why -
Fili (who could aptly be described as ‘covered in paint’ by anyone who has not seen Kili): It was an accident.
Thorin: *raises the eyebrow*
Fili: We just found a bucket of paint, and it was nearly all gone, so we thought we would tidy it up.
Balin: They climbed the fence, opened that shed and poured paint on each other.
A dwarfling-sized paint blob: It was an a-
Balin: Dwalin saw the whole thing.
Dwalin: *folds arms*
Paint blob: -axy- axy-
Fili: Accident.
Paint blob: Yes, def’nitly an axydent.

"Golden Slumbers" a found-family dwarflings & Elrond fic✨️
SWOERIDHSS I posted this on ao3 a bit ago and dumbass (me) forgot to Tumblr it out of my drafts💀I'm sorry, I'm burntout and under the influence of a Monster, BUT I give to you WHOLESOMENESS.
Is that a word? If not, is is now :D
Ti's for TROP Fluff Week 2025, organised by @rivendellwatch !!
This is also my tenth work in the rop fandom??? Actually, seeing as I vehemently ignore the marvel fic I wrote when I was fifteen and published when I was seventeen...I'm counting this as my tenth published fic ever lmao🥳
Summary:
"Gamli can't sleep, especially when he overhears that a certain half-elven uncle might be here to visit. With Gerda on his side, they'll have to find a way to curl up beside their favourite found-family member."
La bah. Fic.

A faunt, two dwarflings and their Uncles
No warnings. Just pure family friendly Halloween fun! As wel as to prove I can write fluff, see Bagginshield besties 😂😂
Summary: Bilbo takes his nephew and ward Frodo to a haloween party at the community center. There he meets two little boys dressed as dwarflings and their handsome Uncle who was also a fellow casualty of the Tolkien fandom.
And of course and excerpt:
Bilbo was looking around at the other children’s costume, noticing that Frodo was in fact the only hobbit. But he wasn’t surprised. Most of the kids were superheros of some sort. He saw no less than 3 Wonder woman costumes and at least 5 Captain America’s. He was pleased that Frodo still wanted to be a hobbit. He could blame it on the literary snob inside of himself, but after all, with a name like Frodo, he was just glad the boy embraced his namesake. As he was looking around, his attention was caught by two boys also near the food table. They were dressed as little dwarves, complete with toy weapons: one had a sword slung at his side, and the other carried a bow and quiver of fake arrows. Both had matching toy daggers that appeared to be carved from wood tucked into their belts, and what belts they were. Bilbo was sure they weren’t really gold, but they sure looked like it, decorated with fake jewels that shimmered in the lights. They also had large, clunky boots on that fit the look they were going for, and Bilbo couldn’t help but gasp at their fake beards. They must have cost a pretty penny with how wonderful they looked, and along with the boys’ naturally long hair, they were braided and beaded. The effect was stunning, and Bilbo was amazed at the sight of the two pint-sized warriors who looked like they could have just stepped out of Arda.

Uncle Thorin headcanons nobody can dissuade me from, part 2: young uncle Thorin
(part 1), (Dwalin)
during Dís' pregnancies he acts like a rock for her and her nervous husband, while he is secretly terrified when she goes into labour
he weeps the first time he gets to hold his nephews (and the 10 times afterwards)
he handles Fíli like a bomb in the beginning, because he is scared of accidently dropping or hurting him
after Fíli is weaned and Kíli is born, Dís and her husband have a hard time, since Kíli is a very restless baby. To give them some more breathing room, little Fíli spends the next few years in a sling tied around Thorin's chest and accompanies him everywhere. Thorin is more than a little sad, when this time ends, but fortunately soon Kíli is weaned and then Thorin gets to carry him around everywhere
he gives them cute nicknames. Fíli is his jewel and Kíli his gem.
he goes into crisis mode whenever one of the lads coughs more than once (fortunately Óin is very patient)
when Fíli and Kíli are small, they often climb into his bed at night, for example when they are cold or scared. It usually ends with Thorin waking up with at least one of Kíli's feet in his face or an elbow in his gut
he cuddles the two all the time and after little Gimli is born, he gets the same treatment
whenever all of them get together, Thorin usually ends up with three Dwarflings on his lap. (he found a way to stack them. Dís doesn't know what to think about that)
the only reason Fíli and Kíli don't call him adad is the fact, that Thorin would never claim that title out of respect for his late brother-in-law
when they are all of a sudden grown-ups, he sorely misses the time when they were small enough to sit on his knee or come running for a hug
he has a box hidden under his bed with his nephews' old things. He gets a little misty-eyed whenever he looks at their tiny baby boots. (one time he shows them to Dwalin, which ends with both of them sobbing. They don't speak of this afternoon)
he is in general a lot more affectionate and caring with them than on the quest, which is one of the reasons Fíli and Kíli are disturbed by his behaviour starting in mirkwood

Need help finding a fic 😭😭😭
It's an ao3 fanfic, bilbo/thorin ship. It involves young fili, kili, and ori as well as toddler gimli. The plot was bilbo attended a dance that every eligible hobbit was supposed to attend to until they found a partner, then instead found the young dwarflings under the table. He invited them at home because he couldn't just leave them there then the next morning there were angry dwarves on his doorstep because they thought bilbo kidnapped them.
I couldn't remember the title nor the tags and I want to reread it so bad 😭😭😭 please help!

A very very sloppy coloured version of a doodle I've had in my sketchbook for months now. The idea was that when Bilbo decided to stay in Erebor after BOAF, a rumour (not really) started to spread that Bilbo being a hobbit and all has Yavanna's blessing to have many children. And since dwarrows have a very low birth rate, everybody thinks Bilbo can somehow "bless" them with Yavanna's "magic" to have healthy dwarflings/give women a quick and painless birth (hope that makes sense). I basically just love the endless misunderstandings with cultural differences between hobbits and dwarrows, I find then really funny lol. I also love the idea of Bilbo being very bad with children (he gets better after Frodo comes along, with the help of Thorin ofc).

What I would do with Each Member from Thorin and Co for a Day
Tumblr media
Hello dwarflings (and wandering travellers)! Today's post is influenced by a few imagines/oneshots I've come across. Enjoy :) (sorry for any spelling/grammar mistakes in advance)
Balin - Deep conversations with history of each other's worlds. I would love to hear the history of dwarves and personal stories from Balin, and I would love to tell him history of the ancient world and the golden age of piracy.
Dwalin - OMG I would be so shy to be in a room with him haha. Definitely make cookies and brownies with him, although most of the dough and batter would be eaten by him before it goes into the oven. A tough, tattooed warrior-dwarf baking cookies is something I can see.
Thorin - Take him to therapy, the guy needs it. Jks, but he does need a lot of therapy. I'm not too sure of him as he isn't the best to have a conversation with. I think, I would like to show him my gecko, and talk about reptiles, especially dragons (this will sound mean). I really like dragons, to his confusion, so it would be a nice icebreaker to 'bond' together with.
Oin - Honestly, Oin low-key scares me. But as he is a healer, I would love to learn natural medicine and herbology. Middle-aged peasants would want me BURNED!
Gloin - I think he will just be yapping and me listening; mostly talking about his wife and Gimli which I would find super sweet. I read somewhere that Gloin fought in a war when he was super young, like 14 year old in human age. So, again war stories til the 'morrow.
Bifur - Despite a language barrier, we would be able to communicate through art as cringy as it sounds. I would like to do a workshop with him with making wooden trinkets.
Bombur - Anything to do with food haha. Have a cooking day were we cook our favourite foods for each other and rate them. Same with desserts as well. He's got to try my family's death by chocolate pie.
Bofur - KARAOKE! I'd be singing abba songs while Bofur is playing some filthy flute riffs haha. And after go to one of those public play area, but for adults, and get absolutely smashed while trying to climb through the rope webs.
Dori - I think naturally being a bit of a fashionista would come hand in hand with it for him. If we're not going to go clothes shopping I would like to go fabric shopping with him, and design and make a dwarven outfit.
Nori - I read on a oneshot/imagine (I can remember where, I'm sorry) that Nori loves cats, and I can see that. We can go to a cat cafe and play with the cats. As Nori is a bit of a *bad boi* and steals from time to time, I may or may not pay him to steal a cat or two for me. No ones going to know.
Ori - definitely a drawing day - perhaps a sketch day out somewhere. I feel like taking him to a nature reserve or a conservation zoo would be nice as he would get to see animals that wouldn't exist in Middle-Earth. The others won't believe him at - like a giraffe??? That's got to be made up.
Fili - cheeky flirt 1.0. Either binge watching forged in fire, or chilling in the woods. Yes, I'm 21 years old, but if I see a good stick or two, I will duel someone in a sword fight. And I feel like Fili would willingly participate.
Kili - cheeky flirt 2.0. Movie marathon - every Shrek movie and me having to explain every fairy tale beforehand so he would get the references. Shrek AND pizza! Icould see Fili, Ori and Bofur could join as well.
Bilbo - eat, read and eat some more. I feel like Bilbo would love the hear what you are reading/ have read, and recommend books for you. I think it would be great to explain genres that he hasn't heard of in the shire. Just keep him away from the smut booktok, he won't handle it at all!
Gandalf - He's such an instigator for drama and lives for it, so I'd be scared to bring him out in public haha. I think he would defo love to hear about online drama like stuff in gorl world. So, I would bring out a massive white board, print of photos and cut string as if its a detective board and explain the history of gorl world while Gandalf drinks tea (for red wine with a fruity bouquet).
That's all for now, love you all!
