thinking about little zoro tugging on mihawk's pant leg to ask for help calling his friend on the phone.
mihawk dials a certain restaurant and hears chef zeff answer on the other end. "your little chef has a customer" he says and passes the phone to zoro's small hands.
zeff laughs and hollers for sanji, "you got a customer kid, come get the phone!"
sanji jumps down from his little stool where he was peeling apples and grabs the phone with excitement. he clears his throat and with all the professionalism he has, says "thank you for calling baratie how can i help you?"
"curly cook?"
sanji beams, "marimo! my favorite customer. do you want food today?" he blabs at him for a good 20 minutes about what's going on in the kitchen and the dessert he's helping with.
on zoro's end, mihawk only hears "uh-huh. sounds yummy. hm" before he eventually hangs up.
"did you have a good talk with your friend?" mihawk asks, knowing zoro did very little talking at all.
zoro smiles quick and bright, turns bright red, and runs off to play in the garden. par for the course, mihawk anticipates sanji and his father will be visiting with dinner soon enough. he thinks about his silly son, only ever shy when being doted on by his little yapper friend, and smiles to himself. the kids are alright.

Looking for a sign?
a pick-a-card reading
Take a deep breath and let your intuition guide you. In the end, only you know what is truly best for you.

P I L E 1 P I L E 2 P I L E 3
pile 1
"You are a badass being, full of life, love & possibilities. Through this deck, may you find a path to your best self." Modern Witch Tarot Deck, Lisa Sterle
Page of Swords, Queen of Pentacles, Eight of Pentacles, Ten of Cups, The Emperor, Seven of Swords
It seems you are looking for the joy in life and you have been working really hard to find it. The thing is, you might be looking in the wrong places. You're looking right when you should be looking left. You aren't seeing your potential and how powerful, beautiful and magnificent you are. The things that you are trying to manifest want to come to you but you first have to look within.
Card from the Angel Answers Oracle Deck: Don't Stop!
I am reading this as your angels telling you that you are doing so well, even if things are uncomfortable right now. You have made amazing progress, and you should acknowledge that. If you look back on who you used to be and where you used to be, you will notice that you have made some amazing strides forward. Don't give up on you. There is a reality that you want to live in and it's calling for you, but it can get to you if you don't meet it in the middle.
I hope you enjoyed this reading, if you would like to get a more person look into your situation, see this post.
pile 2
Six of Swords, Three of Swords, Five of Wands, Death, The World, Ace of Swords
Change is inevitable. There is a change that you have been resistant to because you don't want to be uncomfortable. You're so used to one side of the river, you're afraid to even think about going to the other side. This thing you are avoiding, it's not what you think it is. Change, good or bad, can be uncomfortable. It's still going to happen, though. You will not be able to please everyone but you will be happier, in the end. It's not your problem if there are people that don't understand what you're doing or what you want. They are either along for the ride or they can stay home. You know what the right choice is.
Card from the Angel Answers Oracle Deck: YES
There's your answer. The answer is yes. I'm hearing Say Yes by Floetry; all you gotta do is say yes, don't deny what you feel. Once again you know what you need to do, what you want to do. You just wanted someone else to say it so I'm saying it. Don't think of all the reasons why you think it's a flute. Your angels/guides/the universe doesn't do flukes. If it's for you, it will find you. The answer is yes. Yes.
I hope you enjoyed this reading, if you would like to get a more person look into your situation, see this post.
Pile 3
Queen of Wands, Ace of Wands, The Devil, Temperance, King of Wands, Justice
First thing I heard was, "leave him alone." Now, this is a general reading so apply the pronouns and genders this will apply to. You are doing something that you know is wrong but it feels damn good. It makes you feel powerful. You're aware that something is off. Maybe a power imbalance. If you don't cut this out now, it will bite you in the ass very quickly and painfully. It's time for you to take control of the narrative again and do right by yourself.
Card from the Angel Answers Oracle Deck: NOT THE RIGHT TIME and NO!
This has HEEEEELL NO energy to be quite frank. Whatever you are doing or planning to do, just don't. Just avoid the mess and drama while/if you can.
I hope you enjoyed this reading, if you would like to get a more person look into your situation, see this post

Raphael Saadiq

Raphael Saadiq (born Charles Ray Wiggins; May 14, 1966) is an American singer, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, and record producer. He rose to fame as a member of the multiplatinum group Tony! Toni! Toné! In addition to his solo and group career, he has also produced songs for such artists as Joss Stone, D'Angelo, TLC, En Vogue, Kelis, Mary J. Blige, Ledisi, Whitney Houston, Solange Knowles and John Legend.
He and D'Angelo were occasional members of The Ummah, a music production collective, composed of members Q-Tip and Ali Shaheed Muhammad of A Tribe Called Quest, and J Dilla of the Detroit-based group Slum Village. He is a co-founder of independent video game developer IllFonic, which developed Friday the 13th: The Game.
Saadiq's critically acclaimed album The Way I See It, released on September 16, 2008, featuring artists Stevie Wonder, Joss Stone, and Jay-Z, received three Grammy Award nominations. His fourth studio album, Stone Rollin', was released on March 25, 2011. For the album, Saadiq worked with steel guitarist Robert Randolph; former Earth, Wind & Fire keyboardist Larry Dunn; Swedish-Japanese indie rock singer Yukimi Nagano (of Little Dragon fame); funk artist Larry Graham (on the bonus song "Perfect Storm") and Taura 'Aura Jackson' Stinson.
Music critic Robert Christgau has called Saadiq the "preeminent R&B artist of the '90s".
Early life
Saadiq was born in Oakland, California, the second-youngest of 14 siblings. His early life was marked by tragedy; he experienced the deaths of several of his siblings as a young child. When Saadiq was seven years old, one brother was murdered. One of his brothers overdosed on heroin and another committed suicide because he was unable to deal with his addiction to the drug. His sister died as a result of a car crash during a police chase in a residential neighborhood. Saadiq states that he does not want his music to be reflective of the tragedies he experienced, saying that "And through all of that I was makin' records, but it wasn't comin' out in the music. I did it to kinda show people you can have some real tough things happen in your life, but you don't have to wear it on your sleeve."
He has been playing the bass guitar since the age of six, and first began singing at age nine in a local gospel group. At the age of 12, he joined a group called "The Gospel Humminbirds". In 1984, shortly before his 18th birthday, Saadiq heard about tryouts in San Francisco for Sheila E.'s backing band on Prince's Parade Tour. At the audition, he chose the name "Raphael", and had difficulty remembering to respond to the name when he heard that he got the part to play bass in the band. He says of the experience, "Next thing I was in Tokyo, in a stadium, singin' Erotic City. We were in huge venues with the biggest sound systems in the world; all these roadies throwin' me basses, and a bunch of models hangin' round Prince to party. For almost two years. That was my university."
Career
1987–1999: Tony! Toni! Toné! and The Ummah
After returning to Oakland from touring with Prince, Saadiq began his professional career as the lead vocalist and bassist in the rhythm and blues and dance trio Tony! Toni! Toné! He used the name Raphael Wiggins while in Tony! Toni! Toné!, along with his brother Dwayne Wiggins, and his cousin Timothy Christian. In the mid-1990s, he adopted the last name Saadiq, which means "man of his word" in Arabic. His change of surname led many to speculate that he had converted to Islam at that point; in reality, Saadiq is not a Muslim, but rather just liked the way "Saadiq" sounded and changed his last name simply to distinguish himself from and avoid potential confusion with his brother, Dwayne Wiggins. As he confirmed by telling noted R&B writer Pete Lewis of the award-winning 'Blues & Soul' in May 2009, "I just wanted to have my own identity!"
In 1995, Saadiq had his biggest solo hit to date, when "Ask of You", featured on the Higher Learning Soundtrack peaked at #19 on the Billboard Hot 100 and #2 on the R&B chart. In 1995, Saadiq produced and performed on Otis & Shug's debut album, We Can Do Whatever.
Tony! Toni! Toné! would become major R&B superstars throughout the late 1980s and 1990s. However, after the 1996 album entitled House of Music failed to duplicate the group's previous success, Tony! Toni! Toné! went their separate ways in 1997.
1999–2004: Lucy Pearl and first string of solo albums
In 1999, Saadiq's next big project became the R&B supergroup Lucy Pearl. He recorded the self-titled album with Dawn Robinson (En Vogue) and Ali Shaheed Muhammad (A Tribe Called Quest). The group only lasted for one album.
Also in 1999, he collaborated with rapper Q-Tip on the single "Get Involved", from the animated television series The PJs. It samples The Intruders' 1973 song "I'll Always Love My Mama" and charted at number 21 on the US Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Singles & Tracks.
His 2000 song collaboration "Untitled (How Does It Feel)" won D'Angelo a Grammy Award for Best Male R&B Vocal Performance; it was also nominated for Grammy Award for Best R&B Song. The song was ranked #4 on Rolling Stone's "End of Year Critics & Readers Poll" of the top singles of 2000. D'Angelo's album Voodoo won a Grammy Award for Best R&B Album at the 2001 Grammy Awards.
In 2002, Saadiq founded his own record label, Pookie Entertainment. Among the artists on the label are Joi and Truth Hurts. In 2002, he released his first solo album Instant Vintage, which earned him three Grammy Award nominations in addition to another two Grammy nominations for his writing work on “Love of My Life (An Ode to Hip-Hop)” the following year. He released a two-disc live album All the Hits at the House of Blues in 2003, and his second studio album Ray Ray in 2004, both on Pookie Entertainment.
2004–2010: Expanded output and second string of albums
In 2004, Saadiq produced a remix of the song "Crooked Nigga Too" by Tupac Shakur which is featured on the album Loyal to the Game. Other artists he has collaborated with include Whitney Houston, Mary J. Blige, The Isley Brothers, A Tribe Called Quest, Teedra Moses, The Roots, Erykah Badu, Jill Scott, Macy Gray, Angie Stone, Snoop Dogg, Mac Dre, Devin the Dude, DJ Quik, Kelis, Q-Tip, Lil' Skeeter, Ludacris, The Bee Gees, Musiq Soulchild, Jaguar Wright, Chanté Moore, Lionel Richie, Marcus Miller, Noel Gourdin, Nappy Roots, Calvin Richardson, T-Boz from TLC, Jody Watley, Floetry, Leela James, Amp Fiddler, John Legend, Joss Stone, Young Bellz, Anthony Hamilton, Babyface, Ledisi, Goapele, Ghostface Killah, —Ginuwine, The Grouch Stevie Wonder, Earth, Wind & Fire, Bilal, Chali 2na, Larry Graham, Luniz as well as many others. In 2007, Saadiq produced Introducing Joss Stone, the third album of British soul singer Joss Stone. According to J. Gabriel Boylan of The New York Observer, "he's produced artists including Macy Gray, the Roots, D'Angelo, John Legend, Whitney Houston, Mary J. Blige, and more. With all of them he's pushed a classic aesthetic, heavy on organic sounds and light on studio magic, deeply indebted to the past and distrustful of easy formulas."
Saadiq's third solo album, The Way I See It, released on Columbia Records on September 16, 2008, available in a collector's edition box set of 7" 45 rpm singles as well as on traditional CD, was critically well-received, made several critics' 2008 best albums lists, and garnered three Grammy nominations including Best R&B Performance by a Duo Or Group With Vocals (for "Never Give You Up", featuring Stevie Wonder & CJ Hilton); Best Traditional R&B Vocal Performance (for "Love That Girl") and Best R&B Album for The Way I See It. Music from The Way I See It was featured in the following motion pictures: Madea Goes To Jail, Bride Wars, Cadillac Records, Secret Life of Bees, In Fighting (Rogue), and It's Complicated.
Touring with a nine piece band, Saadiq hit the 2009 summer music festival circuit with performances at Bonnaroo, Hollywood Bowl, Outside Lands, Pori Jazz, Stockholm Jazz Festival, North Sea Jazz, Essence Music Festival, Summer Spirit Festival, and Nice Jazz Festival, Bumbershoot Music Festival and Austin City Limits. Saadiq has been touring Europe extensively, and held a five-night residency at the House of Blues in Tokyo, Japan, in June 2009. In 2008, Saadiq formed a new label called Velma Records, a place where he promises "people can express themselves like I did with The Way I See It... where they can dream something up and just go with it".
He produced songs for LeToya Luckett's forthcoming second album Lady Love, released August 2009. In 2009, Saadiq produced "Please Stay" and "Love Never Changes" for Ledisi's August 2009 release "Turn Me Loose". Saadiq also was the executive producer for an emerging group called Tha Boogie. Tha Boogie's first EP was released on iTunes and is titled Love Tha Boogie, Vol. 1 (Steal This Sh*t).
In 2009, Saadiq announced his video game development company called IllFonic. The first video game in development by IllFonic is titled Ghetto Golf, with an expected release late in 2010. In 2009, Saadiq teamed up Bentley Kyle Evans, Jeff Franklin, Martin Lawrence, and Trenten Gumbs to create a new sitcom called Love That Girl! starring Tatyana Ali. Raphael is an executive producer and composer for Love That Girl!. The show airs on TV One and debuted on January 19, 2010. That same year, Saadiq performed The Spinners hit "It's A Shame" in a legendary Levi's commercial and sang as part of the chorus in the 2010 remake of "We Are the World" for Haiti.
2011–present: Stone Rollin'
In 2011, Saadiq was the guitarist/bandleader for the group backing Mick Jagger for Jagger's tribute performance of the Solomon Burke R&B classic, "Everybody Needs Somebody to Love" at the 53rd Grammy Awards in Los Angeles and on CBS. The band that accompanied the performance was Saadiq's touring band called Stone Rollin. In 2011 he and his band performed as the ESPY's house band for the night, where he performed his latest compositions.
Saadiq's 2011 album Stone Rollin' was released to great critical acclaim. "He's always had a boyish enthusiasm for performing, and a flexible, naturally joyous voice that suggests a young Stevie Wonder," wrote Greg Kot of the Chicago Tribune, "but with his latest album, Saadiq finds a new gear. The album and his current tour demonstrate that there's a big difference between retro and classic, and the artist consistently finds himself on the right side of that divide." Kot ranked the album number seven in his year-end list, in which he dubbed it Saadiq's "finest achievement" and stated, "He's always written songs steeped in soul and R&B, but now he gives them a progressive edge with roaming bass lines and haunted keyboard textures. He's no longer a retro stylist – he's writing new classics." Critic Jim Derogatis called it "a stone cold gas of a party disc."
In fall 2011, he performed on the fourth results show of Dancing with the Stars season 13. In December 2011, he performed a cover compilation of several Neil Diamond songs at the Kennedy Center Honors award ceremony.
In 2012 he signed a deal with Toyota to do a TV commercial for the Toyota Prius. In 2013 Raphael partnered with Bay Area/ Atlanta Production company EL Seven Entertainment/ Republic Records and new R&B Superstar Adrian Marcel and released his 1st promotional mixtape "Raphael Saadiq Presents Adrian Marcel 7 Days of Weak".
Saadiq is a featured bass guitar player on Elton John's 2013 album, The Diving Board.
In 2016 he executive produced Solange Knowles album, A Seat At The Table which debuted at #1 on music charts in the United States. He also guest starred in Luke Cage, where he performs his songs "Good Man" and "Angel" at Harlem's Paradise.
In 2017 he appeared in the award-winning documentary film The American Epic Sessions, directed by Bernard MacMahon, where he recorded the Memphis Jug Band’s 1928 song “Stealin’ Stealin’” live on the restored first electrical sound recording system from the 1920s. Of recording on the system he said, “it’s amazing to just look at how it’s built, you know just look at the machine itself. It just has this like magical sound the way that it’s built. It’s true. It’s just the truest sound you could ever get.”
In 2017, Saadiq collaborated with Mary J. Blige as a songwriter for the movie Mudbound (2017), for which they both received Academy Award nominations for Best Original Song.
In 2018, he produced the John Legend holiday themed album, A Legendary Christmas.
During the 2020 coronavirus pandemic he released a song on his website called Rony! Roni! Roné!”

things i am weak to include:
sanji has always been a romantic, and as a young lad he read stories about princes marrying princesses and knights proposing to maidens. he always wanted to have that moment, to dazzle someone with his offer of marriage.
since he got with zoro, a few of his childhood dreams have shifted.
he gave up on a fancy, rose-petaled proposal, knowing zoro wouldn't appreciate receiving such a thing, and decided to just be happy with his relationship as it was. it did make him very happy, no sense in worrying about trivialities.
zoro, however, knew exactly what he was getting into when he started dating sanji. he's always been a goal-oriented person, he knew sanji was going to be it for him if they clicked. so zoro, knowing the importance of a dream and how much of a romantic sanji is, decides to give him his dream proposal. or at least, his closest version of it.
zoro steals the rose petals, barters for brook's candles, yoinks one of sanji's nice table cloths, and demands the cook make them a picnic. luffy keeps him on his toes enough that he doesn't have time to question the request, and before long they're walking along the shore of the spring island they've landed on.
they set everything up on the sandy beach. sanji is enjoying the moon on the horizon, wine in his right hand, and zoro's in his left. and then he feels something on his finger. he glances down to see a golden band of three braided strands on his finger.
when he looks up, his hand is still in zoro's, but the man is kneeling, his boots making a mess of his nice cloth. "marry me." zoro says, not one for excess words where they aren't necessary. "captain said he'll do it, but i need you to agree first."
"you're such an idiot" sanji says, his hand gripping zoro's fingers. he sets down his wine and crushes petals under his knees as he pulls zoro in. the moon's reflection catches on the ring and he feels like his heart is about to burst. "you owe me a new tablecloth"
"whatever. it was for a good cause," zoro smiles, wide and boyish like he hasn't seen in so long. "and i'm taking that as a Yes by the way. no take backs."
and sanji laughs because even though he's obtuse, no one can read him quite like zoro can. no one would give him his stupid, romantic little proposal on a ruined tablecloth on a windy beach. it's everything and nothing like what he dreamed of, and it's perfect all the same.

Erik Stevens and OC: Could’ve Been - say yes (chap. 3)

Characters: Erik Stevens and Essence Jones
Warnings: smut and language
Word Count: 2,484
Based on the song: Say Yes by Floetry
Prelude - Chapter 1 - Chapter 2
So sorry this took so long! I’ll try to get the next chapter out a bit sooner. :)
Essence should have stopped them. She had no experience, this was her best friend and they would regret this later. Even with her mind telling her to stop, her body and her heart wouldn’t allow it.
Erik shifted them until Essence was on her back and he could comfortably rest between her legs. He wanted this and it quickly became obvious from the tent building in his sweats. Slowly pushing his tongue into her mouth, Erik deepened the kiss. A low moan slipped from Essence’s lips, the slow, tender kiss causing moisture to pool between her thighs. It was erotic. Leaving Essence panting when he finally pulled away.
Erik focused his attention on Essence’s neck, sucking the sensitive spot near her shoulder. The way her body responded made it seem like she wanted him to continue but he asked to make sure, “Want me to stop,” Erik quizzed, knowing he had left his mark already.
“No,” Essence replied softly. Following her request, Erik kissed her again. This time, nastier than the last one. That gentleness was gone and had been replaced with a feeling Essence wasn’t used to experiencing. For once, she felt like she could go all the way. Erik began to grind into her center, the size of his length making Essence’s stomach uneasy when Erik reached between her thighs, she placed a hand on his chest prompting him to stop. If she was going to go through with this, Essence thought it was only fair to let Erik know the truth.
“You alright? What’s wrong,” he asked, pulling away.
There was one secret that Essence did not share with her best friend and she didn’t intend to share until tonight.
“Um...I’ve never…. I’ve never done this,” she stuttered, unable to look Erik in the eye. At 22, she hadn’t planned on still being a virgin but she hadn’t met anyone deserving to share that moment with. Most guys she met were trying to smash on the first night or their entire plan was to hit it and quit it. Essence wasn’t naive when it came to men and she let that be known when they tried to get in her pants with a few sweet words and lip bites.
“Shit, E. Why didn’t you say anything,” Erik exclaimed, moving back to his side of the bed. “I wouldn’t have gone that far.”
“I said I was virgin, not that I had never kissed anybody,” Essence argued, rolling her eyes.
“Nah, it’s not that. I just assumed… you know…”
“That I been out here fucking any and everything,” Essence countered when Erik stared at her as if she had grown two heads.
“I didn’t say that,” he came back.
“Sounds like you’re assuming it. I know it’s rare in this day and age but…”
“Essence that’s not what I was saying, damn. There’s nothing wrong with you being a virgin. I just...I’m trying to figure out why you would want me to be the one to take it. You sure about that?”
Essence played with her fingers, which was a nervous habit Erik had picked up on when they were kids. “Yeah. I’m sure, I guess,”
“You guess? You’re acting like this shit isn’t a big deal. You can’t get your first time back, so at least make it with someone worth a shit,” Erik explained. The thought of being anyone’s first time freaked him out but being Essence’s first was a different story. He didn’t want to take her virginity and then not live up to being the guy she wanted him to be, that’s if she even wanted him in that way.
“But you’re worth a shit. Barely, but you are,” Essence joked, in an attempt to lighten the uptight mood. “They say you know when you’re ready, right? Well, I feel like I am.”
That still wasn’t enough to convince Erik that he was the right guy to take her virginity. “Nah, I don’t think you know what you want. You stopped to tell me you were a virgin for a reason.I’m respecting that. It’s cool.”
“I swear you’re the most annoying dude I know. I told you so you would go gentle on me,” Essence added, feeling like she was begging at this point. If they were seriously about to argue about who would take her virginity she would eventually dry up like the Sahara.
“Are you hearing yourself? You want me, a dude you aren’t even with, to take your virginity. See how crazy that shit sounds,” Erik argued.
“Oh my-would you fuck me! Is that what you want me to say, Erik,” she yelled, even shocking Erik who had been on the other end of her verbal attacks in the past.
They had been friends for years and knew almost everything about each other. Even during their beefs, Erik kept an eye on Essence without her knowledge. Simply, because he cared about her. Which was why he was uncertain about taking such a prized possession from her when it meant so much.
“You’re deadass, huh,” he said softly. Essence nodded calmly. “Alright, but if I hurt you we are stopping, got it?”
“Just don’t ram that thing in me like you do other bitches,” Essence replied, eyeing the erection growing in his sweats. She gulped, thinking about him stretching her out and what that might feel like.
“How you know how I have sex with other women? You been watching me,” Erik laughed before turning serious. “I’ll be gentle, I promise.” He went back in for a kiss, softly pushing Essence back on the pillow. He captured her lips again, gently. As much as Erik could barely contain himself, he knew he had to go slow.
Reading Essence’s body language, he began to undress her. Starting with her t-shirt and sports bra, each article of clothing mixing with his as he threw them to the floor. Suddenly, Essence felt self-conscious with her body on full display. Flashes from the television decorated her skin, leaving her open to Erik’s wandering eyes. She attempted to cover her chest as Erik bit his bottom lip.
“You don’t have to be shy, it’s just me,” Erik said, pulling Essence’s hands to the side. “Plus you’re so damn beautiful. Don’t hide.” He planned to explore her body in order to get acquainted with her likes and needs. They had all night and morning. He settled between her thighs, latching on to one perked nipple. The sensation of him drawing her into his mouth and massaging the other breast was overwhelming. Erik skillfully teased her until he was ready for the next task.
Heat rose to Essence’s cheeks when Erik moved towards her stomach, planting kisses as he made a path between her thighs. Essence didn’t even realize she was holding her breath until Erik hummed and peered up at her with that annoying ass smirk. Her center moistened when Erik’s beard grazed her clit. A hushed moan left Essence’s lips when he flicked the tip of his tongue against her.
No man had ever been this close to her in such an intimate way. Essence opted for pleasuring herself, which left out the wonderful sensation head could offer. Another flick of his tongue and then he gave her a little more, teasing around her clit before burying himself deeper. There was a bit of discomfort but the feeling was quickly dissipated.
“That hurt,” Erik asked, his voice thick with lust. The last thing he wanted to do was make this experience painful.
“I’m good,” Essence muttered, nodding her head.
“You taste good,” he added, dipping his tongue between her folds again. Over and over, he used the flat of his tongue to massage Essence’s sweetness. Her nectar coated his tongue only making him want a better taste. So he widened her legs, holding her thighs down with his elbows while he enjoyed his meal.
The Essence’s body began to react without her consent. Her legs shook under the weight of Erik’s bulky arms, her ass cheeks clinched with every suck and kiss. Gaining some control, Essence rested her hands on Erik’s shoulders.
Erik hummed, sending a slight vibration through Essence’s body, “Ohh shiiiit...Erik,” she squealed, not sure where she mustered up the words to express how good he felt. He drew her clit between his lips and sucked it gently until Essence came undone for the first time that night.
“There you go, baby,” he hummed, using his thumb to spread her juices. “Damn, your shit is wet as fuck.”
Aftershocks pulsed inside Essence’s body, causing her legs to close around Erik’s head when he continued to eat. She moaned loudly and exposed herself more when she arched off the bed. “I’m gonna cum,” Essence cried, pushing back against Erik’s forehead until he slammed her hand to the sheets and held it in place.
Squirming and cussing did nothing but make Erik suck harder, sending Essence into a sexual bliss that had her seeing stars. He figured he’d stop for now to give her a break before the main course.
“Oh my God, that felt amazing,” Essence panted, frozen in place as the climax paralyzed her body for a short moment before it wore off.
“Yeah? Well, I got something else that feels even better,” Erik bragged, holding himself in his hand. It was hard to read Essence’s expression but he promised her he’d be gentle. Not wanting to rush it, Erik continued foreplay to relax her body. They kissed, exploring each other’s bodies until Essence was comfortable with Erik’s fingers teasing her insides. He marked her neck as he slowly moved his fingers in and out, pulling guttural moans from his best friend.
“You ready for this dick, baby girl,” he questioned, holding his soaked fingers to his mouth before sucking them clean.
Essence nodded, her nerves returning even though she knew she was ready for this. Erik was just...large. “Go slow, please,” she begged when she felt his dick lined up with her center. Her eyes remained closed as Erik slowly began to push his length inside her tightness. “Ah!”
“We can stop… I don’t want to hurt you,” Erik offered.
“Nah, I’m good. It just burns a bit,” Essence bit her lip, hoping the burning sensation would be replaced with pleasure.
“Relax,” Erik coached her, pushing in bit by bit as she sucked a deep breath in and let it out through her mouth. “There you go. Just breathe.” When his length finally disappeared, Erik sat still, giving Essence time to adjust to his size. “How’s that feel? Still hurt?”
Imprints of Essence’s fingers would probably be left on Erik’s forearms with how tight she was holding on. “I don’t know, I can’t feel my legs,” she said, sending Erik into a fit of laughter. “Nigga, the shit ain’t funny!”
“I ain’t even done anything and your legs already jello,” he laughed, peppering her face and neck with kisses to make up for his joke.
“Erik shut the fuck up,” Essence giggled, happy that he wasn’t making this terribly awkward.
“But for real, I’m not trying to wreck your shit on your first time. So if I start hurting you, we can stop. Aight,” Erik repeated, kissing the tip of her nose. The discomfort began to fade when he gently moved his hips. That slight pain was replaced with a satisfaction Essence had never felt.
Stroke by stroke, her walls began to fall and the feeling of Erik inside of her felt better. For a moment, Essence allowed Erik to take her to another realm. With deep thrusts, he made love to Essence. Their bodies seemed to fit seamlessly as if this was how it was meant to be the whole time.
“Fuck,” Erik cursed under his breath and into Essence’s neck. It was hard not to cum too fast, but he held strong. When Essence’s nails dug into the skin of his back, he changed his pattern. Circling his hips, Erik was met with Essence’s sweet moans. “Talk to me.”
All Essence could respond with was a slew of expletives. Either Erik was good in bed or she has just been missing out on the blessing of sex. She sensed it throughout her limbs but mostly in the deep pits of her stomach.
“How’s it feel, baby,” he asked again, pinning Essence’s arms above her head. The sound of their flesh colliding filled the rooms, created an erotic song.
“Good,” Essence cried. “So fuckin’ good!” An even stronger climax was beginning to build but Essence wanted to hold on as long as possible. She wanted to hang onto this moment with Erik.
Everything they had been through began to flood Essence’s head, causing tears to escape and cascade down her cheeks. Seeing Erik in this way was different. He let his guard down with her but not in this way. She could actually see him and it was beautiful.
Erik leaned forward and kissed away her tears. He linked their fingers, pounding into her harder.
“You wanna cum,” he questioned, sucking her earlobe between his teeth. “How hard you wanna cum?”
“Erik, please,” Essence moaned in response, gripping his hands as a rush of sexual euphoria hit her like a ton of bricks. “Fuuuuuuck….”
“Answer me,” he demanded, his own thrusts becoming jagged everytime Essence’s pussy pulled him back.
That last thrust sent Essence spinning. Her body floated away from her while she shook involuntarily under Erik’s weight. The smallest whimpers filled his ears as he filled Essence’s womb.
There was a mess between her legs, but they didn’t move for the next fifteen minutes. Erik ran a bubble bath when Essence complained about being sore. For the rest of the night, he tended to her until they fell asleep.
………..
One Month Later
After Essence had returned to Texas, things had gotten weird with Erik. They were fine with the idea of giving a relationship a try after college, but for now they remained friends. That was until Erik made a visit to Chicago. One of his boys was murdered by a gang member from the opposite side of town. Coincidentally, the accused murderer was killed in a shooting and Chicago police couldn’t find the suspect.
Essence tried to get into contact with Erik with no luck. Weeks had gone by without contact and she began to worry. Calling wasn’t getting her any answers, so she decided to make a trip to California.
To her surprise, Erik was no longer living in the apartment she had visited a month ago. There was a young couple moving in and they hadn’t seen the last tenant that occupied the space. Erik had disappeared once before but he seemed to be in a different head space now. Had he moved back to Chicago?
Essence tried calling Erik’s cellphone one more time before it went to voicemail.

Mischief in her eyes, such a playful spirit. She's a sight to be seen, yet isn't. Words in her head never come out right yet rhymes on paper, always look like a delight. She's rhythmic, floetry, say yes and maybe I'll undress and you'll finally see, as I express my wounds and deepest scars, that are layered in my being, showing the true she. But you're too far from me. So as I catch my reflection and decide to loop it for retention, I process that our relation has been ended by the presentation of your true colours and apparently, my lack of appreciation. Yet we move, as we all do trying to find “l-o-v-e”. Which is laughable because really, in this economy? Bye bye “love”, keep the fake version of thee far away from me. You see the mischief in my eyes? That's because I'm headed for the skies and only I know the true prize. Me

Raphael Saadiq

Raphael Saadiq /səˈdiːk/ (born Charles Ray Wiggins; May 14, 1966) is an American singer, songwriter, musician, guitarist, and record producer. Saadiq has been a standard bearer for "old school" R&B since his early days as a member of the multiplatinum group Tony! Toni! Toné! He has also produced songs for such artists as Joss Stone, D'Angelo, TLC, Kelis, Mary J. Blige, Whitney Houston, Solange Knowles and John Legend.
He and D'Angelo were occasional members of The Ummah, a music production collective, composed of members Q-Tip and Ali Shaheed Muhammad of A Tribe Called Quest, and J Dilla of the Detroit-based group Slum Village. He is also a co-founder of independent video game developer IllFonic.
Saadiq's critically acclaimed album, The Way I See It, released on September 16, 2008, featuring artists Stevie Wonder, Joss Stone, and Jay-Z, received three Grammy Award nominations and was voted Best Album on iTunes of 2008. His fourth studio album, Stone Rollin', was released on March 25, 2011. For the album, Saadiq worked with steel guitarist Robert Randolph; former Earth, Wind & Fire keyboardist Larry Dunn; Swedish-Japanese indie rock singer Yukimi Nagano (of Little Dragon fame); funk artist Larry Graham (on the bonus cut "Perfect Storm") and soul newcomer Taura 'Aura Jackson' Stinson.
Music critic Robert Christgau has called Saadiq the "preeminent R&B artist of the '90s".
Early life
Saadiq was born in Oakland, California, the second-youngest of 14 siblings and half-siblings. His early life was marked by tragedy; he experienced the deaths of several of his siblings as a young child. When Saadiq was seven years old, his brother was murdered.
Tony! Toni! Toné! would become major R&B superstars throughout the late-1980s and 1990s.
In 2002, he released his first solo album Instant Vintage, which earned him five Grammy Award nominations.
In 2016 he executive produced Solange Knowles Project, A Seat At The Table which debuted at #1 on music charts in the United States. He also guest starred in Luke Cage, where he performs his songs "Good Man" and "Angel" at Harlem's Paradise.

Give a Beat to Launch “Prose of a Con” Radio Series with Father’s Day Special
On June 16th, Give a Beat and DanceGruv Radio Kick Off New Radio Series Called Prose of a Con, Featuring the Work of Russell Wardlow, a resident at Omaha Correctional Facility

Give a Beat partners with DanceGruv radio for a new radio series called Prose of a Con, featuring the work of Russell Wardlow. Launching with a special Father’s Day episode, each episode will showcase Wardlow’s prose and poetry, which will be spoken aloud by DJs across the electronic music community. Wardlow, resident #78756 of the Omaha Correctional Center, composes his work entirely behind bars. His poignant and insightful readings speak to the destructive nature of the prison system as much as they do the healing power of artistic expression, sentiments he and Give a Beat both share. Visit Wardlow’s site to read up on his work.
Confirmed DJs for this project include Blackliquid, Mr. V, Myxzlplix, Nickodemus, Oscar P, Pontchartrain, Stacey Hotwaxx Hale, Eli (from Soul Clap), DJ E-Clyps, and Briddy. After their readings, each musician gives an interview about the impact of Wardlow’s work and their own feelings towards ourl system of mass incarceration. With 2.7 million Americans who have a parent in prison, Give a Beat felt it pertinent to air Prose of a Con’s first episode on Father’s Day. This installment, entitled “Dear Josiah” after Wardlow’s son, is read by Pontchartrain and includes an interview with Wardlow himself. Other installments include Surviving Prison, I Was Down, and Ignorance, Not Bliss, each of these pieces a different part of Prose of a Con.
“I want to speak to those too ashamed to voice that they feel alone, unseen and forgotten/misunderstood. To give a voice to those that struggle to voice and identify their pain, while helping them rise from its depths. To those that feel judged, scorned and ashamed by their worst moments, and help them realize it’s just a moment regardless how few or many. I hope to open people’s eyes to prison to keep them from coming or coming back.” — Russell Wardlow
Prose of a Con, a project started by Wardlow in 2017, tells his story as an artist trapped in the prison system. Prose discovered Give a Beat by chance when Wardlow’s partner in the project, Katie Andrews, met Marshall Jones, a Give a Beat member. As the other half of Prose, Andrews uploads all of Wardlow’s “floetry” to the project’s website and Instagram. Both Wardlow and Andrews appear on the radio series to speak about the challenges and rewards of fostering creative freedom when physical freedom remains out of reach.
Tune in June 16th at dancegruv.net for the Father’s Day Special!
