It's time for the final reveal of the new, improved Arion Neptune! But first, a look back at how he's changed since I first drew him way back around 2013-14. Image 1: the intro featuring his new silhouette. Image 2: the very first drawing I ever made of Arion, waayyy back in my sophomore or junior year of high school. He was my second ever after high oc and one of my first LGBT+ characters (though he played heavily into the Tragic Gay™ stereotype which I'm not proud of; his new story should fix most of that). For a long while this was my main drawing of him; he didn't gain color for at least 6 months if not a year after Image 3: one of his first color drawings, made when I'd just gotten a tablet and Autodesk express. The colors are off but this was essentially what I'd made him to look like Image 4: his original color reference; this was his concrete color scheme for a long while Image 5: while there are still some errors I notice now, this right here is the single best pencil drawing I've ever made and shows well the melancholy my salt son holds within him Image 6: the start of his change into Modern Arion, this was when I realized my cast of characters wasn't all that diverse racially and strove to change that. Since Arion barely had a color scheme, he was a good candidate for a change. This was sometime in 2016/17. Image 7: Arion's New Wave outfit, which was initially meant to be an alternate look but has become his new Signature Look. Gone is the preppy soft boy uwu, instead we have a vaguely pastel-punk young man who gives ZERO f$&ks. It fits his salty personality much better Image 8: his official color and merman-form reference. The style isn't completely accurate now cause I drew this 6 months or so ago but this is essentially Modern Arion and a guide for his Merman form.
