Who: Open and Rory (8/8) @easthavenstarters CAPPED Where: Founder's Square When: Sometime early 2024
Rory had only been in town for a few weeks, and she still couldn't figure out how to get around without getting lost. Back home she was a pro at getting around LA, practically able to travel the entire city with her eyes closed. But East Haven? Nope, she got lost going around the corner, trying to find her hotel from each store. It seemed as if the gps on her phone only helped a little. She tried not to rely on it, since she was planning on staying here for a long time and figured it'd be best to get to know her way around. "Damn, didn't I just pass this store?" She asked, probably louder than she anticipated. She was trying to get back to the Silver Moon Hotel, after doing some shopping at Book Haven for some books to read at night. "Excuse me, can you help me by any chance?" She asked to the person beside her.

location: east haven memorial the day after the storm status: open to all medical personnel! (sorry to anyone that doesn't apply to...but i will write with anyone so hmu and you can have a starter just for you!) @easthavenstarters
Asher was finally feeling better than he had the entire night of the wind storm. Part of it was his anxiety was lifted, that was for sure, but mostly it was because of the medication he'd been given for his pain. There was a tube still in his side, draining air and fluid from the space his lung usually filled, and he was vaguely aware of an IV in his hand. He still wasn't moving much, too woozy and sore, but he wasn't in excruciating pain anymore, which was kind of nice. Or, at the very least, the drugs were nice.
"Good morning, gorgeous," he said, grinning at the individual who had walked into his room. "I know I'm not wearing a shirt right now, but if I was, you should know it'd be made of boyfriend material," he added, winking in their direction.

where: Christmas Tree Lot who: @easthavenstarters
The scent of pine filled the crisp winter air as Gavin wandered through the Christmas tree lot, his breath visible in the chill. The lot was a festive maze of evergreens, each tree adorned with twinkling lights and the promise of holiday joy. Gavin was on a mission—to find the perfect Christmas tree for his home, a tree that would stand tall and proud in the center of his living room.
His eyes roamed over the assortment of trees, each one seemingly more splendid than the last, but none quite meeting his vision of the ideal Christmas centerpiece. Pondering his choices, he found himself standing beside a stranger who seemed to exude an air of tree-picking expertise.
"Excuse me," Gavin began, offering a friendly smile, "I'm on a quest for the ultimate Christmas tree, and I can't seem to make up my mind. Any chance you have a recommendation for the perfect one?"

Who: @easthavenstarters Where: Tequila Cowboy
The low hum of country music filled the air as Romeo stepped into Tequila Cowboy, the familiar scent of trashy bar food instantly bringing a sense of comfort. The weekend had been a whirlwind of grading essays and administering tests at the high school, and the weight of it all lingered in the lines on his forehead.
Heading to the bar, he found a vacant stool and settled in, eager for the prospect of a relaxing evening. "Margarita, please," he requested from the bartender, flashing a tired but appreciative smile. As he waited for his drink, he glanced over the menu, contemplating what would pair well with the promise of a refreshing cocktail. "IF you were looking for something horrible to eat right now what would you choose off this menu?" Looking over to the person seated next to him.

where: Food Haven who: @easthavenstarters
Kat pulls her sweater closer to her body, taking her time as she walks through the streets. It's been a month since she's moved in, but she's barely had any time to explore the town, too busy unpacking and getting used to her new job. She lets out a sigh, relieved to finally be able to take a break.
Reaching for her camera, she lifts it to her eyes and peers through the viewfinder, wanting to take a shot of Founder's Square when she spots something that catches her eye. There's a string of lights set up somewhere down the road, people heading towards it in groups. She lowers her camera, curiously walking towards the lights.
Her face brightens when she realizes it's a food park. After three consecutive nights of instant noodles, she tells herself she deserves a delicious meal that night. As she walks around Food Haven, she can't help but miss her friends in California, as well as her mom and sister. Starting over in a new place isn't new to her, she had to do it when she was younger. But making friends now is different than it was when you were 11.
"Still, you'll have to make new friends eventually."
If only she were more extroverted, like her little sister.
She spots a food truck selling tacos and she lines up, rubbing her hands together before stuffing them in her jacket. She takes the chance to look around while waiting in line.

where: downtown who: @easthavenstarters
Malik strolled through the charming streets of downtown, taking in the sights and sounds of the bustling town. The warm sunlight painted the storefronts in a golden hue as people hurried past, engaged in their daily routines. A small paper bag dangled from his fingertips, the remnants of a quick coffee stop at the local café.
As he meandered, Malik realized he needed to pick up a few groceries. He checked his phone for directions and, with a vague sense of direction, started navigating towards the grocery store. The vibrant energy of the town surrounded him, and he couldn't help but smile as he discovered new corners and storefronts.
Turning a corner, Malik found himself on a quaint street that seemed promising. His eyes scanned the storefronts, searching for the telltale signs of a grocery store. Spotting a few locals engaged in conversation, he decided to ask for directions.
Approaching the person stopped on the sidewalk, he flashed a warm smile. "Hey there, I'm on the hunt for the grocery store. Any chance you could point me in the right direction?" he asked, his tone easygoing.

where: Sunny Side Up Truck @ Food Haven with: OPEN ( @easthavenstarters )
Now the roads were clearing, Roman had made his way back into town to check on the food truck. He'd heard some rumours that there had been serious damage to one of the trucks, and his heart went out to who it belonged to when he saw it. Thankfully, Sunny Side Up Truck was safe, with only a scattered of small branches across its roof, and some tree debris in the local area.
Roman was armed with winter clothing, thick gloves, a shovel and a sturdy outdoor brush to sweep and clean up as best he could. He didn't mind helping with the clean-up - it gave him something to do, and at times when he felt helpless, he needed something to do. He brought his truck to collect the wood, intending to take it home.
He was inside the truck with the window open, looking over the stock inside and deciding what to throw and if anything could be kept when someone approached the window. "Oh... Hey. Sorry. We're not open. I'm just checking up after the storm."

Archie wasn't entirely sure why he was set up at the bar, but a couple drinks in, and his opinions were loud. The drunker he got, the posher he became, and his English accent, though just a touch slurred, was ever-present. "No! George is the best Beatle, and I don't want to hear another word! Don't spout that nonsense. John was a bully, Ringo's a love but he's certainly not the champion, luckiest Beatle and all... and Paul?" He paused, another sip. "Well Paul is gorgeous and wonderful, really. But there's something about George. I mean christ... have you ever heard While My Guitar Gently Weeps? Or his solo work? Man's a genius, really."

where: the sitting room
"Alri, no. I'm not asking it right, let me go again," Darragh says, mentally aligning his words for his second attempt at asking the same question a whimsical barfly with a Scottish accent had asked him once in Australia.
"You've won the Lotto, yeah. Lottery, sorry. You've won it, that's the point here. It's life-changing money, way into the millions and you've come into it overnight. What are you doing with it? Honest answers only."

where: snowcaps karaoke bar who: @easthavenstarters
It had been a long night, a lot of badly sung ABBA songs and although Sasika was having a nice enough time with her friend from work, after a swift trip to the bathroom, she was nowhere to be found. Checking everywhere throughout the crowded bar, Sasika was half-worried, half-pissed off but most of all, not surprised. Constantly the type to pull a Houdini and bail, it was more annoying that she'd had left her stuff with her friend, if she could still call her that. The brunette knew she should have kept a closer eye.
“Hey!” she called out to the person perched nearby, someone who might have seen her. “You haven’t seen a blonde woman, sleeve of tattoos, about this height” her hand went up to indicate the height to be taller than her “—come this way, have you?”

where: gas and go who: @easthavenstarters
Kanyon leaned against his car, patiently waiting for his turn at the gas pump. The soft hum of activity surrounded him as other vehicles came and went. He glanced around, his eyes casually meeting those of fellow patrons waiting in line to pay for their fuel.
As he stood there, Kanyon couldn't help but feel a sense of openness to the people around him. With a friendly smile, he nodded towards the small gathering waiting to complete their transactions. "Can't beat the classic waiting game at the gas station, right?" he remarked, hoping to spark a bit of conversation and camaraderie with whoever might be up for a chat. After all, these brief encounters often held the potential for interesting connections, and Kanyon was ready for whatever conversation might come his way.

location: book haven status: open @easthavenstarters
Asher sighed as he grabbed three books at once, immediately looking for a comfy chair to sit down in. Not that he thought he could read all three books in one sitting, but he wasn't sure which one he wanted to start with. Two of them looked like typical steamy romances, and he kept those low as he sat down, not trying to show off to the world the types of books he was trying to get into. The third book was just some historical fiction, nothing too crazy. "How do you pick which book to start? Like, when they all kind of look like good reads?" He asked aloud without even looking up, noticing someone walking nearby.

status: open location: Nancy's Bar and Grill.
Working at her mom's bar was forever a bittersweet. Ren loved growing up in the bar, and wouldn't change it for the world. The bar was such a integral part of her life, her family's life. She loved it. But being called every time there was a shift that needed to be covered? It irked her to no end. Once more, she was the reliable one. The responsible one. The one who people called because she would drop everything and help. All because she felt like it was her duty. So there she was, taking orders on her day off. "Oh uh", she replied with a grimace to the patron's order. "Just between you an me, I'm not sure you want to order that."

who: @easthavenstarters where: The Clark Center for Performing Arts CAPPING AT 3 (2/3)
Theater was something that Haven had always hoped Lake would take a liking to. She was never one that would even consider forcing him to do it if he didn't want to, but, she could remember a lot about her own childhood and how she's always loved theater in general, but had never been able to act for anything. So when she had her son, Lake, she'd hoped he'd like it, but so far he had yet to find himself interested in anything theater, so often times Haven would buy tickets for shows, etc. and go with whoever she could manage to go with her. That's why she was here today; not that she was expecting to buy tickets just yet, but she certainly wanted to at least get a schedule if she could manage it. Though, now that she was here she was a little confused, and she mentally told herself this was why she always just ordered tickets online and never in person. As she stood there, trying to find the best place to go she sighed, though, thankfully was joined by a passerby a few moments later and she took a step forward, now talking to the back of their head. "Excuse me." she started, trying to get their attention. "Do you happen to know where I can go to get a schedule of productions for the theater?"

where: Heart and Seoul BBQ who: @easthavenstarters CAPPING AT 3 (2/3)
Heart and Seoul wasn't a place that Chantel got to frequent but she was someone who had also love an extensive variety of food. So, despite the fact that it was downtown, which Chantel rarely ever made it to, she had managed to make it there today, all thanks to Charlie who was still chauffeuring her around for the next few weeks. She'd had full intention to come in, order food and then leave, but she was having the hardest time deciding on what sounded good. Because while it was best to order food when you were hungry - what was the point in ordering it if you weren't going to eat it? - sometimes the downfall of that was being so hungry everything sounded delicious, and she was honestly struggling with not potentially ordering the entire menu. As she stood there, she scanned the menu and her eyes landed on a couple of options - a pork dish and a beef dish - both of which were not on her note to already order for Charlie. Though she sighed and she looked back at the menu for a second. "Pork or beef? They both sound delicious and I have no idea which one to order. What do you suggest? " she questioned, looking to the person standing to her left, who also appeared to be glancing at the menu themselves.

where: Paw Prints & Groomers who: @easthavenstarters CAPPING AT 3 (2/3)

Ever since he'd moved here Josiah had been trying to find a groomer for his dog Xena. He usually took her every six weeks, and despite the fact he'd taken her to her old groomer in New York, she was due for another hair cut, good scrub and a nail trim and while Josiah wasn't incapable but Xena had always done better with someone else. Something about being with 'dad' had always just made her hyper and spunky, making it a little more difficult to actually do much. So when he'd heard several recommendations about Paw Prints and Groomers, he made an appointment and so far he was loving the atmosphere of the place. As he waited with Xena in tow, he sat, encouraging the dog to sit, though in her barely one year of age, she was still very much a puppy at heart and it showed as she eagerly stood, doing her best to walk away from Josiah and towards the person that had just entered. Placing his phone in his pocket just as Xena jumped on the other person, Josiah sighed shaking his head. "Xena, down." he scolded and his eyes met the other. "I promise she doesn't bite, she's just an eager thing that thinks everyone loves her. Did she hurt you?" Josiah knew that her size sometimes could be a bit much for anyone, and he wanted to be sure he hadn't just been neglectful and let his dog jump on someone.
