Uh a did a little comic thing for me and @zthesheep's total eclipse au (Z designed the Eclipse with the goggles, V4 aka Nova. This scene was also their idea, and last night i had the sudden picture of the scene that I just had to draw)

Thats not really the name of the au we don't have one yet thats jsut what I've been calling it cause its an eclispe³ au (v1 x v2 x v4)

The orange text is v2, or Dusk, who is still trapped in a computer at this time. The red is v1, or just Eclipse. And the pink, as I said before, is v4, or Nova. This is when they were trying to give him a name to distinguish him.

...All of them??? pfft okay I'm gonna not do the more controversial ones for the sake of my Sanity BUT here's still a decently long list I think

Nexus x Solar: 1000/10, My blorbos forever, I can hear the wedding bells, they changed me as a person frfr, if I actually started ranting about why I like them so much we'd be here for 12 hours.

Nexus x Eclipse (V1): They never met, but I think V1 meeting pre-Nexus New Moon would fix him sfjhsds 7/10.

Nexus x Eclipse (V2): THEY WERE TOXIC. BUT I THINK NEW MOON COULD'VE FIXED HIM IF HE HAD MORE TIME. but also if V2 met current Nexus- omg evil overlord boyfriends..... 9/10

Nexus x Eclipse (V3/V4): Smushing V3/V4 together because they're almost the same person- inhales. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASEEE ESPECIALLY WHEN NEXUS WAS STILL NEW MOON THEY WERE SO GOOD. the episode of Nexus shoving Eclipse into therapy still lives rent free in my mindddd. if only what happened to Nexus DIDN'T HAPPEN they could've HEALED TOGETHER. 20/10.

Nexus x Lord Eclipse: ...toxic yaoi... :) 8/10

Nexus x Moon: actually this is even MORE toxic yaoi. personally I actually prefer to imagine a twins (or triplets, if you include Sun) dynamic between Nexus and Moon, but canon Nexus and Moon can romantically rot together lol. they're both bad people <3 6.5/10

Nexus x Ruin: OKAY LISTEN. Nexus x Ruin fluctuates from a 6/10-8/10 depending on how it's portrayed, but NEW MOON and Ruin before he did the dimensional collapse??? High-key 10/10, they were cute as fuck.

Nexus x Dark Sun: Sighs. my friends got me into it. toxic yaoi (that COULD be cute in the right au/context). 9/10.

Nexus x Monty: 0/10. I hate you, Monty.

Nexus x Bloodmoon: Uhhh. hm. 4/10??? not really my thing, nothing wrong with it tho.

Nexus x Killcode: UHHH 5/10, same reasons as Bm x Nexus, but it gets the extra point because KC is like the only one taller than Nex and I find that funny.

Heavy Hydrogen

Heavy Hydrogen v4.5.1, Tritium Games, 2015

This is not the Tritium Games who does reviews on Steam. Different person. It also has nothing to do with any 1488 shit. Pull that here and get reported and blocked.

Heavy Hydrogen went through a lot of iterations in its design. It started as a Traveller 3rd retro-clone (v1) in 2008, then shifted to an earlier version of Traveller (v1.5), then switched to Diaspora (v2), then had its own system (v3), then swapped to something that looked kinda like Eclipse Phase (v4) before trimming that down a lot for the version I'm reviewing. Tritium Games clearly knows each ruleset well, because there's not a lot that's carried forward from older rules. There's no real trace of Diaspora in the Eclipse Phase version, for example. If you know the first version of Eclipse Phase, you'll be able to play this fairly well, though you'll find that both the level of detail and the number of unnecessary fiddly bits has been reduced.

The setting is fairly standard sci-fi stuff. There's a lot of Niven and Asimov influence. Interstellar Empire in decline, wormholes, inexpensive interplanetary travel, newer and sexier civilizations arising on the galactic rim, plenty of planets still unexplored, multiple sentient aliens, most of them bipedal with two arms, etc. Psionics no, laser swords yes. Some Eclipse Phase concepts are removed, most notably sleeving. If you've seen Traveller, Stars Without Number, and Starfinder, you've seen this one too.

What's different is the level of detail. It reads like someone not only took extensive notes during a two-decade homebrew game, but then continued on to flesh that out until every planet had equal representation. Most games would have these as supplements. Heavy Hydrogen folds it into a somewhat dry 950-page book.

You read that right. 950 pages. With not much art. (Most of it is black-and-white line art of planets, guns, and buildings.) Layout is pedestrian. The index is thankfully copious, though things aren't always listed where you'd think. The earlier editions were smaller, but even v1.5 was 400+ pages. The hydrogen is indeed quite heavy.

Heavy Hydrogen's setting has been fairly constant, evolving only as new technologies are discovered in our own world. For instance, the appearance of CRISPR genetic editing in the real world resulted in biotech receiving a larger role in the Empire. By 2008 the internet was well-established, so the Empire had ubiquitous computing, but it wasn't until v4 that social media really got incorporated in a serious way. I feel like the changes contribute to the game's playability in a positive way - you don't need to assume that Thing X was never invented in order for the game to make sense. Kudos to the design team for making sure the whole monstrosity of a setting is updated in this way.

There's not a ton more to say about Heavy Hydrogen. There's a version 5 in the works, of course, currently planned for 2026. I appreciate that they're realistic about the release date. If you like the setting, you'll find plenty here to run an entire decade-long campaign in. The game is available in PDF through a janky e-commerce system on Tritium Games' website. The physical copies are sold out, and I imagine that's because it's awful hard to find a printing company that can handle a 950-page book.

Nexus x Servant Eclipse? He could treat him like a dog. Servant eclipse would hate it, they'd banter, and then they'd kiss. Next question (or nexus would treat him like a king like he would Solar, and honestly I think S!Eclipse would LOVE that. Some respect finally after being denied it)

Nexus x Lord Eclipse? One of them need to knock the other down a peg and honestly I dont know who is who.

Nexus x Canon sb eclipse?? Eclipse would wrap him up in a blanket and coo to him and ask him whats wrong

Nexus x V2 Eclipse? They'd banter. Theyd kiss. Theyd hate each other but also love each other. Probaly more of Nexhs treating him like a dog (Nexus seriously what's with that). Im doing this assuming Eclipse turns good btw-

Nexus x v1 Eclipse? Nexus would help him. Hed help him unlike Moon, he'd give him a chance and a home. He wouldn't have done all that shit in the first place. He gave Ruin a chance, he'd absolutley have given v1 eclipse a chance

Don't even get me started on how dark sun is kind of an eclipse because of how he absorbed his Moon's intelligence- nsjsnsjs

Eclipse x Nexus x Solar (lullabychips, Eclipse², and Solarnexus): obviously my main ship i talk about a lot. Im not asss obsessed over it as I used to be (that is Zees fault, they got me obsessed over other ships <3) but when I rant about characters I think out of all the poly couples, they're best suited for each other. From Eclipse and Solar's moon trauma, to Eclipse and Nexus both being copies of someone else, to Eclipse and Solar both being eclispes. They could all understand each other very well, as well as compliment each other. Plus, cmon, Eclipse has been borderline defending Nexus-

Obviously just because they're on this list doesn't me I ship ship it (and if it isn't on this list that doesn't mean I dont relaly like it, it just doesn't mean I'm not obsessing over it rn.
