Because I am too pretentious to just say "Intro Post"

Hello! I am the Taran Wood Beast! GRRRRAGGHHHWWWBLBLBLAAAGGHHHHGRAGGGAGAGHHH!

I'm guessing if you're here, you probably have a lot of thoughts about the British science-fiction adventure programme, Doctor Who! Me too! Here are some hopefully helpful things to know about me:

A. I am American.

2. No...B. I am somewhereabouts in my 30s and have been enjoying Doctor Who since I was like, 13.

3. or C. bisexual

4. or D. or that little iv in brackets they use in footnotes. Don't ask me my favorite Doctor, I don't have one. It's whichever one I'm watching at a given moment. Or it's just the current incumbent. Or it's whichever one I wake up in the morning feeling like I want to watch an episode from.

I do however have a favorite actor who has played the Doctor. It's Christopher "Rid the Universe of Your Filth" Eccleston. (see header image.)

He/him is fine.

Steven Moffat is a good writer most of the time. If you are looking for anti-Moffat content, go elsewhere.

Chris Chibnall is not a good writer most of the time. However as far as the Doctor Who era is concerned I'm broadly Chib-neutral. If you are looking for committed anti-Chib content, go elsewhere.

I have very deep and thorough knowledge of all televised Doctor Who.

I have middling knowledge of spinoff-novel Doctor Who. Have read about half the NAs, a handful of the EDAs and MAs. For the NAs I like the Cornell, Orman, and Aaronovitch stuff best. For the EDAs I've read I like the Paul Magrs and Lawrence Miles stuff best.

Fairly familiar with the first 100 or so Big Finish Main Range stories and the Charley and Lucie-era McGann stuff. My overall opinion on Big Finish these days is that is devolved into derivative and uninteresting Whoniverse content mill that long ago swallowed its own tail.

The Valeyard is undercooked and not interesting to me.

I have favorite stories and episodes too but there's no point listing them all here.

I can and will shitpost and meme about this show.

Doctor Who is fun and camp and silly and yes it's spooky and cerebral and dramatic at times too and that stuff is great and I love it but at the end of the day let's try not to take ourselves too seriously, huh? :)

Unless I’m accidentally plagiarising, that’s an original from me. It explains my username: “estel” is a Tolkienian word meaning “hope” or “trust” with the connotation of holding onto hope in the face of seemingly insurmountable odds, while “agape” is an Ancient Greek word for love which has been co-opted to mean an all-encompassing love for humanity.

Concurrently, in Charleston...

The Charleston Challenger then wrapped up with a final involving 2 young players, where Nishesh Basavareddy, who stunned first seed Christopher Eubanks 6-4, 7-6(5) in the semifinals, faced lucky loser Edas Butvilas, who also knocked out Tristan Boyer 6-4, 6-3 thanks to his solid showing to complete the double-header. The setup could determine the rest of the match, considering the nerves in play outside of their range consistency throughout the match in general.

After a forehand down-the-line winner struck Nishesh's baseline game right at the second point, E. Butvilas scored the same shot for his earliest break point, but Nishesh fumbled it before holding his serves to 1-0. Subsequently, even if the American scored a backhand pass to lead by one point in the next game, E. Butvilas still held his serves to 1-1 before he broke to 2-1 due to Nishesh's forehand errors. E. Butvilas then followed it up with a service game hold to 3-1.

In the next game, Nishesh tried to assert more pressure on E. Butvilas' service game, having a rare volley that turned out to be out for the Lithuanian's break point, before another defensive measure created another break point. However, Nishesh still held his serves to 3-2 after surviving the break points, almost breaking again thanks to his forehands before E. Butvilas held his serves to 5-3. It took two more games before the latter earned his chance to serve for the first set, which he succeeded (6-4) to be (technically) a set away from the title.

Some are dead and this would be considered their afterlife, and some are not, either pulls from the middle of the action of their canon or from somewhere post-canon. Most follow game canon pretty closely, but are very unique and canon-divergent in their pre-game backstories.
