He never thought this could happen to him. Anybody but not him. Loki, prince of Asgard, Odinson, burdened with glorious purpose. He was above everyone in this pesky tower. No filthy Midgardian could reach him in his glory, intelligence or Witt.

And still he stood there, head over heels in love with her. It was just so different with Y/N. He had an instant connection when he first met her at the Stark Tower.

EDIT I MADE A MISTAKE: For some mysterious, not at all my own fanfiction related reason, I confused Treviso's location for Seleny, which is a river city, while Treviso sits on the delta of a river near the coast. Still. It's one major trade city out of two major trade cities. It's just a trade city. However, this renders the 'save treviso to prevent blight from flowing downstream' point moot.... ooff. Sorry, Treviso, your ace in the hole just went.

EDIT 2 it doesn't even seem to sit on a river. New question:if Treviso has no plumbing, tell me, where does the wastewater go?!!?!? Say it. Say it with words. I'm laughing at myself though, Seleny has absolutely dominated my 'antivan lore' mind lol. But seriously, if Treviso doesn't even sit in a delta... what realpolitik reason in a world-ending threat is there to choose it over Minrathous. It's an isola, even though it sits on the continent. it affects no other cities around it. Boats will have to make a longer trip to Antiva City, but that's it. The blight doesn't spread through waterways, it gets no more washed out to the sea than it would in Minrathous.

I think it should. The problem with 'sustained war' is that you're never at 100%. Minrathous has been under siege for a very long time, it has never really had the time to build up to fight off dragons and gods and Venatori who know the city inside out. Treviso, on the other hand, yeah, has no standing military.

But in the end, like this person said, one of the cities is a capital city, a major hub of commerce, and the other's a riverside town, 2nd largest, sure, but strategically the loss of Treviso is both more inevitable because of its home country's fucked up governing and military system (DAV crows are all rah rah we rule treviso until an actual war comes to its doorstep), and it's just not as strategically important. The only real issue is that the river carries the Blight down its course, and infects other river settlements. That's really the only reason why, when you have two 'maybes', you should choose treviso. otherwise i'd always choose minrathous because it's not just strategically more important, but because you can be almost 99.8% certain of it getting saved, as opposed to reducing the survival of both cities to like 50%. because in the end you're still just rook and two arseholes with some sad, struggling local forces who are barely coordinating anything.

treviso is a victim of its own government, and the MASSIVE hubris and flaws of the Crows who see themselves as an armed force while being completely ineffectual when it comes to repelling actual assault.

minrathous was easy to take because it was 'taken' by its own citizens, with the aid of gods. and that means the entire tevinter is now vulnerable, whereas taking treviso doesn't render all of antiva vulnerable. antiva's seashore capital still stands.

moreover, antiva itself is kind of a loser country. it's half-devastated desert from previous blights, and its economy relies entirely on commerce. it's a nation sized hanseatic league. antiva is a facilitator, a middle man because antiva almost exclusively produces LUXURY GOODS. not (survival) food (only fine, fancy, expensive gourmet shit), not arms, not resource. luxury goods. antiva simply isn't important in a total war. it produces nothing that's conducive towards survival. it has the right to exist, and gods willing, it will be saved, but when gods come knocking and you have choices to make, then with a broken heart and a choice that weighs between 'bad and worse', antiva will be sacrificed. except again, it isn't, it's only one river city. i'd be more worried if antiva city was under siege.

i am shaking your hand. after two management changes, at least three iterations / rewrites, laying off the 50 playtesters who joined a union, and three games and lots of supplemental material that never answered any of the core mysteries introduced in their main premise? it feels like the story is just going to keep circling itself.

i am going to get it like a month after release based on mutual feedback; but while i'm interested. i'm not excited. not like i was before.

Couldn't agree more, and after that yesterday's trailer...ooff. I still want to stay positive and give the game a chance. I think tomorrow's gamplay reveal will be decisive.

I have been in this fandom from the beginning, by no means were the DA games perfect but they ignite my love for video games and I have such fond memories of those days, the days here on tumblr when people shared their amazing fanarts, fics, edits and other works of this incredible franchise, it truely made me feel alive and full of inspiration and creativity ;d It may sound a bit strange, but I even have a few mutals from those times that I still think about from time to time, even though we only talked to each other via tags under posts or not at all :) It just breaks my heart to see this universe go down in flames, that's all.

Sorry, I'm starting to ramble. I'm just a sentimental, old fool who miss those early days and the exciment DA brought me ;)

I really really hope that the upcoming game will be good and I will be pleasantly surprised.

I feel a little queasy and anxious this evening, could it be from...

A) The realization that I only have 2 weeks to finish a fic for the exchange

B) Some dudes showed up soliciting their third party energy company and it took too long to realize what they were doing (thankfully I stopped them before they got personal info and a signature). I really don't think they were scamming or checking out my place to rob from but the whole thing left me feeling stupid for not catching on immediately. ETA: It sorta is a scam -- long story short - don't give your info away guys!

C) Everything I used to make tacos tonight was of questionable age.

D) I have to be up early tomorrow and I'm already thinking about the fact that I haven't finished the one scene I wanted to write nor have I read any books before heading to bed.

E) My episode of Kevin and Jenna's podcast is coming in two days, and I have a slight fear that I've been edited out.

Ooff. I do not like this feeling.

✅ What's something that appears in your fics over and over and over again, even if you don't mean to?

I'm not observant enough for this!

⌛ How long does it take you to write a fic, or a chapter?

OOFF. Depends.

Fic: 1 Day-whenever depending on my energy level and level of inspiration for the fic in question. Sometimes I'll type it up and then forget about it for months, only to rediscover it and post it.

Chapter: LMAO. Weeks-months. In order to post a chapter for anything in Harbinger, I have to:

A.) Open the game.

B.) Open notebook.

C. ) Write down the chapter as I play the game, describing the scene/items found/any puzzles as I plod along. Notes are scribbled down for cut scenes.

Chapters last for however long an in-game "chapter" lasts (such as Dark Parables), or (if I game doesn't have chapters) when I reach a stopping point I indicated in a sloppy outline detailing where to start/stop at the game (such as Ravenhearst/MCF).

I then have to close the game and open Google Drive, and create a new document in the folder for the fanfic. I type everything up that I wrote down, editing/adding content/subtracting content as I go, and I'll take the time to rewatch cut scenes on YouTube to make sure I've got the dialogue right or what I need to fudge to make the scene work in the fanfic.

Of course, this depends if I have the time to even do this most days/nights, due to a full time job that I commute to every day, and still live with my parents, who either A.) request help with housework or B.) need help getting to medical appointments or C.) talk to me about how my day was while eating dinner. Sometimes we grocery shop.

So. That's why everything takes so long! xD

Saying "fics don’t need to be treated as special because there is always another I could read" is such a wild take too, like, fanfiction is such a beautiful and valid art form, what do you mean??

Folks, it's worth remembering that written works, like fanfiction, often require just as much, if not more, time and patience than a single illustration or painting. While visual art tends to circulate more visibly and quickly online, writing demands its own kind of sustained effort: planning, pacing, editing, rewriting.

When you really think about it, art and fanfiction are BOTH incredibly abundant forms of creative expression, and that's not a bad thing. The sheer volume doesn't diminish their value. One isn't worth less than the other simply because there's more of it. If anything, their abundance is a testament to how deeply people care about the stories and characters they engage with, and that should always be respected and cherished!

Stories are just as deserving of appreciation as any gallery of stunning illustrations.

I have sifted through all the replies, reblogs, dms, and responses I've gotten to that poll I shared asking "why people choose not to share art/writing they have liked" and i have collated some of the (admittedly very honest) reasons people have given me for not reblogging writing in particular:

I find fanfiction embarrassing and I dont want to let other people know that I read it.

I dont think it fits the aesthetic of my blog.

I find that all "x reader" fics are always the same so there's no point in sharing them when they're good but not amazing.

I'm finding that there's so much content available that fics don't need to be treated as special because there's always others I can also read.

I wasn't aware that sharing things on tumblr was that important to creators.

I don't think writers deserve having their work shared when it's only a smut piece and not something more meaningful.

I use likes to make a note of writings I like and I often forget to reblog them.

I find that "shitty reader fics" fill up every tag for any character who is even a little bit interesting and I don't want to encourage more, even if I like some of them.

I don't see art and writing as having the same value and will only reblog art.

I have minors who follow me and I don't want to share nsfw, even if I've been the one to put in a request for it.

I don't owe anyone anything online and I'm free to enjoy things the way I want to.

I find that my own works don't any attention and it makes me not really want to share others because I'm spiteful about it.

While my own thoughts on these takes are very varied, ranging from understanding to something disheartening, I appreciate how candid people were with their honesty. I just thought it was interesting how fandom and attitudes like these have shifted.
