These Tips Will Make You Crack Any Competitive Exam | IES Sagar Dodeja | Civil Beings | Josh Talks
Tumblr media
These Tips Will Make You Crack Any Competitive Exam: By IES Sagar Dodeja | Civil Beings
Below is the full speech transcript of Sagar Dodeja,  a former Deputy Superintendent Engineer at Indian Engineering Services (2016-17) at Josh Talks: "Myself Sagar Dodeja, and I have cleared every engineering examination prestigious ones like GATE, ESE and all other examinations, regional examinations.  And from my experience, I am going to share with you some smart tips which you should do while you're preparing for your examinations.  Everyone is putting in their hard work.  But our aim is, turning hard work into success, not just working hard.  So turning hard work into success, there is something, we call smart work which you will realize by the end of this.  Sometimes, in our home, we are asked to do something affirmatively and you are forced to do it.  And to do that we try and find shortcuts some smart ways so that the work is done with minimal effort.  I have come to talk to you about that.  Right now, through this platform I am going to tell you some important points, especially for GATE and Engineering Service Examinations, which I am going to discuss with you all.  For that, that X Factor, that extra something so that when you have it, you definitely achieve success.  Let's start with it: The first point, what if I tell you that your efforts are actually 50% of what you're thinking. Whenever we prepare for an examination the biggest mistake we make is we’re thinking more about the syllabus and not the examination.  We are not thinking about the need of the examination.  Syllabus, talking about engineering of any stream….Related to any stream of engineering be it Civil, Electrical, Mechanical, Electronics and Communications...  whatever it may be, the syllabus will be the same for almost every examination. The technical syllabus will almost be the same for every examination.  But the approach with which you are solving the approach with which you are studying subjects, will be different from one examination to another.  In reality what happens is, if you look closely 70-80 % of the technical questions are from 50% of the syllabus.  Whereas our focus is on the syllabus and completing each and every subject.  Sometimes it happens is, we leave certain  topics, certain subjects altogether just to make sure that  one subject is thoroughly completed.  And to do that we spend a lot of time on those extra things which are not coming in the examination, and the trends and past year papers will show that.  It is important to analyse past year papers, and figure out trends.  Talking about the GATE exam:  it is numerical and concept oriented.  Being oriented towards numeric and concepts, it is very essential to practice them hardly and frequently.  Rather than focusing on the theory part, you need to focus on the application of the theory part.  If we talk about some other exam, maybe there will only be theory, there will be no scope for application.  If you know the theory there, then you will score the maximum marks. The theory that you know here, how you should apply it during the GATE, ESE or mains, that is more important. So we need to understand the need of the examination rather than the syllabus of the examination. Syllabus is more or less the same, but the need is different.  The technical questions in GATE for 70 marks.  When you analyze the paper, for maybe any subject in Civil Engineering 50% of the syllabus accounts for 70-80% of the questions.  First finish those, it's not like you don't have to complete the others.  First of all, try and complete that syllabus which is coming very frequently. First complete that, after finishing that what will happen is you will be in touch with every subject. After analyzing that, for the remaining 50% syllabus, focus on it after the completion of the first 50%. What this will ensure is selection.  And the extra 50% that you are preparing, will be like a cherry on the top.  Your rank will improve with that.  This is the first point. The second point is even more important, and that is intuition is not an option, it doesn't rank as an option.  When I used to give the exam, my personal experience is that  while giving the tests  my answers would be incorrect, there were so many mistakes I was making…  some mathematical, some silly, some conceptual.  At that time I decided and promised myself, I would not use intuition, and would not answer questions on the basis of intuition.  It could happen that for questions with 4 options, and I know that 2 of them are surely incorrect and am confused between the other two there is some chance there.  But just out of intuition selecting any option at random that should not be done.  I had rote learned a line, and I would suggest that those of you reading this should also memorize that:  “whenever I try by fluke, it is assured to be wrong”.  This will ensure that you do not make mistakes.  If you do not rely on mistakes and flukes, then you will study well also, that I do not have to attempt answers by fluke.  I have to study something well.  This will give you a clear mindset of what you are studying. You're not relying on any form of fluke or any kind of arrangement for the examination, just focus on your own concepts.  So don't fall for any answers by chance. Third point again an important one.  You can call whatever I am saying as smart work.  This is the way to smart work.  This doesn't mean that you don't have to do the hard work.  But we just have to perform it in a smart way.  The third one is that all of these are stressful examinations.  Your year round hard work is dependent on this one exam. Three hours will decide what you have done throughout the year.  The stress level, I can imagine, I have been through that.  And I am telling you there’s a mindset required to deal with this stress.  Someone who has prepared really well, will also deal with this stress.  But if due to this stress, his performance gets affected, his preparations are a waste.  Which is why, there will be stressful situations, but the first thing, easy for all, tough for all. We're not trying to analyze the paper here, whether it is easy or tough  I am not analyzing the paper here, I am in a psychological mindset  That  If it is easy, it is easy for all..  If it is tough, this is tough for everybody.  Nobody has come from mars to give the exam, everyone is here only.  Everybody is attempting the exam from here.  And if, let’s say somebody is sweating after seeing the examination paper, then it can to me also.  If someone is being able to attempt it easily, even I can. If there is a person who is thinking that maybe I won't get selected even I am feeling that, so the situation is the same for everyone.   So it is necessary to accept this stress so that we are able to perform better in the exam.  Because the case is the same with everybody, so accept this stress, that yes, this is a stressful situation, granted….  But still we are going to give our best.  Two things happen here, there is one student who after coming in a stressful situation, let’s go of the preparation completely, don't be that.  Another person, after coming in a stressful situation, puts in more effort, thinking that if doesn't happen, let's study more.  What did the first one do, if doesn't happen, let's leave it .The second one, if it doesn't happen, let's study some more… so that maybe I clear the exam.  And that is the approach which very much needs to be followed. After that, the fourth point is that, at any point we are not running in the race alone… which is why we need to analyze that where we actually lie.  Many people, what they are doing is  they are ignoring the competition which is going on in the world throughout India, and they are simply ignoring that  and remaining in their own zone...  thinking that if they see someone else's performance, they will get scared.  But no, you have to learn from someone else.  Imagine that it's a race, and some horses are running.  You are running your own race.  You are running alone.  How will you know whether you're running slow or fast?  You'll only get to know once you participate in that race. The best way to participate is to join a test series.  So that we are able to analyze our performance and are able to learn from it, very important is to learn.  That's how I learnt, when I was continuously doing mistakes in units.  While I was doing the units, I was doing continuous mistakes that we sometimes had to convert grams to milligrams, tonnes to kilograms, we make silly mistakes.  And then I pledged that for these mistakes, that I will never ever write any step of the solution without any unit, Unit of the solution will come in every step. Without the unit, you can't write the step, the final answer is farfetched from that.  So from there we are able to learn, such that we don't make mistakes.  Because silly mistakes happen.  And everyone's nature of mistakes are different.  It is necessary to analyze them. The last and very important point is this that at any point, do not follow any person. You follow basic principle. By persons I mean, there are many toppers who have excelled in this examination.  While they are telling you that this was our approach or that was our approach, you get inspired by that approach, not simple copy and paste that approach.  Remember no plan is perfect.  It is the implementation part of that exam which makes it perfect, for any case I have analyzed a lot of toppers and myself.  Never have I copied anyone's approach as it is.  Someone said study for 7 hours, someone else for 8 hours.  Never have I copied someone that even I'll study like this. Someone told me study at night, it's quieter.  But my house used to be near the highway and in the night, trucks used to be going on and on continuously and it was very difficult for me. So every situation will vary from one person to another.  So you use your brain wisely… decide what is good for you, what is not… So what I have discussed today are basic principles. I have told you the basic principles of study.  Apply those principles. Somehow, never ask what your schedule is.  It is your dream, you are the one who are going to get to that dream  and nobody should tell you  these many hours you should study to achieve your dream.  It is your dream.  Whatever be the examination especially GATE, ESE, or any exam, It might be… any exam follow the basic principles...  you will definitely get success…  Work hard and that too smartly, thank you…       Source: Josh Talks Read the full article

Get into Real Exam Mode with ESE 2020 Online Test Series
Tumblr media
Preparation for top engineering competitive exams like Engineering Services Examination (ESE) becomes easier with proper planning and following a well-prepared preparation strategy. While preparing for ESE which is conducted by the UPSC annually, it is very important to practice not only objective questions but also conventional papers. If you are aspiring for ESE 2020, the best way to practice writing conventional tests is by taking ESE 2020 Classroom Test Series.
Here let us have a look at some of the reasons for taking ESE Classroom Test Series before appearing for the real ESE 2020.
Getting a feel of the real exam environment
ESE Prelims and Mains are conducted offline. Therefore, writing mock tests through ESE 2020 Online Test Series will enable students aspiring for ESE 2020 to get used to the actual test-taking environment. By answering conventional questions in a format similar to the real exam will allow students to get an idea about the nuances associated with ESE that is conducted by the UPSC every year. Similarly, students who cannot take the classroom test series can write ESE 2020 Online Test Series from anywhere, no matter where they are located in India. The only difference between ESE classroom test series and ESE 2020 Online Test series is that in the online test series the student needs to draw the diagram or figure shown on the screen onto the rough paper sheet before working out the solution.
Tumblr media
Chalking out preparation strategy
The complete syllabus of ESE is divided into various sections or topics. To give your best in the real ESE exam, students need to chalk out their preparation strategy as per the syllabus of ESE. While preparing the strategy, the order should be according to the sections that would be attempt first, and the time allocation for covering those various sections. By taking multiple rounds of mock tests for ESE, you would be in a position to make an effective preparation strategy.
Determining the level of preparation
The classroom test series, as well as online test series, include questions that have appeared in exams conducted in the past. Therefore, by attempting test series, a student reinforces his learning by practising a variety of questions. The scores obtained in these mock tests enable a student to determine the level of his preparedness, know his strengths, and work upon the subjects/topics that need improvement.
Hope by now, you must have got a clear picture about the importance of mock tests before taking any real competitive exam. So engineering students from civil, mechanical, electrical, or electronics, who are aspiring for ESE 2020 can take the ESE Offline Test Series to determine their level of preparation as well as understand the ESE exam pattern. Contact IES Master Delhi help desk at 0 80100 09955, or write a mail at [email protected] to know about the upcoming batch, and other details.

Is B.tech a better option in this pandemic situation?
Students often get confused about their career options about whether to opt for a bachelor of technology as their graduation or not. So, here OmDayalGroup of Institutions (OGI) answer all the questions the students have in their mind related to the scope of bachelor of technology, the career choices they have after completion of B.Tech and the salary package they can avail after finishing the same, but before we discuss further on this topic, the students should have a brief knowledge about B.Tech.
Bachelor of technology, commonly known as B.Tech, is the most popular and in-demand undergraduate course which is picked by students after completion of 12th with science. It is an undergraduate degree received by students after completion of four years of academic study in the field of engineering.
B.Tech is an undergraduate level professional Engineering program, therefore the eligibility required to seek this program is clearing class XII from the Science stream. To get admitted on the Best engineering colleges in West Bengal, OmDayalGroup of Institutions (OGI) fill up the form at: https://www.omdayal.com/admissions/
Engineering is the most popular course, which is why there is cut-throat competition to get admission in the Top engineering colleges in West Bengal, OmDayalGroup of Institutions (OGI). Therefore, to screen the capabilities of students, admission to B.Tech programs is granted based on their performance in the engineering entrance exam. Entrance exams like JEE Main, WBJEE test students on the basics of engineering in line with class XII syllabus. Later, based on their performance in entrance exams students are shortlisted for counselling before admission to B.Tech programs.
There are different types of engineering entrance exams that the students need to appear for getting admission in the Best engineering colleges in West Bengal, OmDayalGroup of Institutions (OGI): National Level Engineering Entrance Exams National level entrance exams are conducted to screen engineering aspirants for admission. OmDayalGroup of Institutions accepts the score and rank of the said exam i.e. Joint Entrance Examination – Main as part of their admission process. State Level Engineering Entrance Exams State-level engineering entrance exams are conducted for admission of students in B. Tech courses. OmDayalGroup of Institutions accepts the score and rank of the said exam i.e. WBJEE hosted by West Bengal government as part of their admission process.
OmDayalGroup of Institutions (OGI), the Best engineering colleges in West Bengal specifies some points on what is so special in the B.Tech course that makes it the most popular course. B.Tech degree offers the students a lot of freedom in getting their dream job. It is all about having a practical approach to different kind of problems. Here are some key points, explaining why one should opt for B.Tech course:
·         B.Tech courses are currently among the most consistently expanding areas of demand for employees
·         Decision-making skills get enhanced.
·         The engineering course is all about analytical work, new inventions, and research. Employers these days look for candidates who are techno-savvy.
·         Variety of career choices.
·         In B.Tech the students won’t just learn the theoretical part but also get the opportunity to do practical.
·         It gives the students exposure and understanding of the outside world and how to deal with various situations.
Engineering emphasizes on practical learning along with the theoretical study of the subject. Once a student has decided to pursue B.Tech engineering in the Top engineering colleges in West Bengal, OmDayalGroup of Institutions (OGI) after completing class XII, the most significant question arises in their mind is about engineering specialization. “Which is the best engineering branch?” is the most common query that arises from the majority of engineering aspirants.  List of various engineering specializations offered in the Top engineering colleges in West Bengal, OmDayalGroup of Institutions (OGI) is as follows:
·         Civil Engineering

In the third or fourth year of engineering, every student starts getting worried about where this field is going to lead them after the completion of the course?  But this is to say, there are plenty of opportunities waiting for the students of OmDayalGroup of Institutions (OGI) outside, be patient. All they need to do is to gather more & more knowledge regarding these jobs and polish their skills set regularly to get a job of their interest. Having clarity about what they want to do in their life will help them in landing a successful career. To get a rough sketch of the facilities provided by B.Tech colleges, the aspiring students can check the website of the Best engineering colleges in West Bengal, OmDayalGroup of Institutions (OGI).
Another question a student faces while pursuing B.Tech as their graduation course is “what should I do after B.Tech?”.  B.Tech engineering being a professional course, offers the students multiple choices either to go for higher studies i.e. M.tech, MS or MBA or else go for a job. If they have the capability then they can also become an entrepreneur.

Besides this after completing B.Tech from the Top engineering colleges in West Bengal, OmDayalGroup of Institutions (OGI) the students can take up technical jobs in Public Sector Undertaking also. To do the same, they need to qualify Graduate Aptitude Test for Engineering (GATE). Many PSUs hire candidates for entry-level jobs based on their GATE score. Some PSUs like ISRO, BARC, etc conduct their own entrance exam to screen the capability of a student for entry-level jobs. Engineering Service Exam is a national level exam conducted for the students who want to work in the government sectors such as Defence Railways, PWD, etc. The syllabus of ESE is the same as all the entrance exams. The students of the Best engineering colleges in West Bengal, OmDayalGroup of Institutions (OGI) also can apply for private jobs. To do that, they can also write entrance exams such as AMCAT and elitmus, these exams prove their technical expertise related to the subject and help in getting a job easily. Although, they can apply for a job in different private companies without writing these exams. After joining the private companies they can earn experience and can easily climb the corporate ladder to get a satisfying salary package.
Bachelor of Technology program offers a variety of specializations in the four years of span. High salary prospects and promising job profiles make the B.Tech even more fascinating. Salary of a B.Tech graduate from the Best engineering colleges in West Bengal, OmDayalGroup of Institutions (OGI) depends upon the specialization the student opted after his/her class XII. It varies from field to field. The salaries also vary depending on the sector the students are working in, be it the government sector or the private sector. Usually, private sector offers more salary than the government sector. The students can also get a boost in their salary much earlier in the private sector compared to the government sector.
There are a lot of scope and career opportunities available after completing B.tech engineering from the

A Complete Success Guide for Passing the Engineering Services Examination (ESE) Cracking
One of the most prominent and difficult tests for Indian engineering graduates is the Engineering Services Examination (ESE), commonly referred to as the Indian Engineering Services (IES) exam. The Engineering Service Exam (ESE), which is administered yearly by the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC), provides access to highly esteemed government jobs in a range of engineering fields. This blog explores the nuances of the ESE and provides prospective engineers with a path map for achievement.
Comprehending the ESE A career in engineering services, which encompasses the railroad, defense, public works, and telecommunications industries, may be obtained through the ESE. Three phases make up the demanding examination process: preliminary, mains, and personality test (interview). Every level is intended to assess the applicant's general temperament, analytical abilities, and technical expertise.
1. Preliminary Examination: This is the first hurdle and includes two objective papers: Paper I: General Studies and Engineering Aptitude (200 marks) Paper II: Engineering Discipline-specific (300 marks)
2. Mains Examination: The second stage comprises two descriptive papers, each 300 marks, based on the candidate’s chosen engineering discipline (Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, Electronics & Telecommunication).
3. Personality Test: The final stage is an interview carrying 200 marks, assessing the candidate’s personality, communication skills, and suitability for a career in public service.
Developing a Strategic Research Agenda
1.Be Aware of the Syllabus: Gaining a solid understanding of the curriculum and test format is the first step in preparing for the ESE. This aids in determining one's strong and weak points.
2. Time management: It's critical to establish a practical and effective study timetable. Set up time slots for each subject so that technical and non-technical subjects are covered in a balanced manner.
3. High-quality Study Materials: Make an investment in reputable reference books and textbooks. Reputable writers' books and past years' exam papers are priceless resources.
4. Regular Revision: Maintaining concepts requires regular revision. While you're first studying, jot down brief notes; they will come in helpful while you're editing. 5. Mock exams and Practice Papers: Completing practice papers and mock exams from prior years aids in learning the format of the exam, managing time, and pinpointing areas of weakness.
6. Stay Up to Date: It's critical to maintain current knowledge and current happenings in order to pass the General Studies and Engineering Aptitude exam. It might be helpful to read periodicals, follow reputable news sources, and read newspapers.
How to Approach the Personality Test In the interview phase, self-presentation confidence is equally as important as technical expertise. Here are some pointers:
1. Self-Assessment: Recognize your advantages and disadvantages. Your answers will reveal this self-awareness. 2. Communication Skills: Practice communicating both orally and nonverbally. Practice speaking with confidence and clarity.
3. Current Affairs: Keep up to date on both global events and the most recent advancements in your technical profession. 4. Mock Interviews: Take part in interviews that are simulated by peers or coaching centers. Your confidence can be greatly increased by this exercise.
Managing Stress and Preserving Health It takes a marathon, not a sprint, to prepare for the ESE. It calls for perseverance and constant work. Here are some pointers to maintain your motivation and well-being: Frequent Exercise: Exercise aids with stress relief and attention retention. Healthy Diet: Eating a well-balanced diet guarantees that you will have enough energy to study efficiently. Leisure & Breaks: Taking quick breaks from studying and taking up a hobby will help you avoid burnout. Positive Mentality: Remain driven and encircle oneself with mentors and peers who are encouraging.
In summary Although the path to passing the ESE is difficult, it is attainable with commitment, careful planning, and an optimistic outlook. Aspiring engineers can succeed on the Engineering Services Examination by comprehending the exam format, creating a thorough study plan, and taking care of their physical and mental health. This esteemed profession gives the chance to advance national growth in addition to employment stability and alluring benefits.

Steps to successfully complete the ESE Test in India Following Engineering: An All-Inclusive Guide
After earning their degrees, engineering graduates in India frequently find themselves at a crossroads, wondering what to do next in their careers. The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) offers a variety of career opportunities, but the Engineering Services Examination (ESE) stands out as a prestigious and difficult route. This test provides entry to highly sought-after government jobs that give stability, advancement, and the chance to support the development of the country. The goal of this blog is to give engineering graduates a thorough understanding of the ESE exam, including its structure and recommended preparation methods.
Comprehending the ESE Examination The Indian Engineering Services (IES) exam, also known as the ESE, is a yearly test that is used to hire engineers for a range of technical and administrative positions in government agencies, including the Telecommunications, Central Public Works, and Railway departments. Every year, hundreds of candidates apply for the extremely demanding examination; only a small percentage pass the stringent screening process. Qualifications In order to take the ESE exam, applicants need to fulfill the following requirements: Nationality: Must be a citizen of Tibet settled in India before to January 1, 1962, or of Nepal, Bhutan, or India.
Education Requirement: An engineering degree from an accredited university or an equivalent program. Age Requirement: Generally speaking, applicants must be between the ages of 21 and 30. According to government regulations, age relaxation is granted to restricted categories. Exam Format Three phases comprise the ESE examination process: Preliminary Examination: General Studies & Engineering Aptitude and the corresponding Engineering Discipline (Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, Electronics & Telecommunication) comprise two papers in this objective-type test. This stage has a total of 500 marks.
Main Exam: Those who pass the preliminary exams move on to the main exam, which comprises of two traditional (essay-style) papers for 300 points each in their engineering discipline, for a total of 600 points. Personality test/interview: The last phase involves evaluating the candidate's leadership, mental acuity, and intellectual capacity in order to determine whether or not they are a good fit for a career in engineering services. There are 200 marks in this level. Strategies for Preparation Recognize the syllabus and format of the exam: Acquaint yourself with the comprehensive material and the format of the test. The official syllabus is available on the UPSC website and ought to be your main source of information.
Study Materials: Select appropriate study resources, such as standard textbooks, reference books, and test questions from prior years. Additionally, coaching institutes provide useful customized study materials. Regular Study Schedule: Create a study schedule that covers every subject in detail. Set aside time for each topic and follow the program exactly. Concept retention requires frequent reworking. Practice and Mock exams: Attending frequent mock exams increases comprehension of the exam format and time management. Examine your results to find areas where you need improvement, then work on those areas.
Prioritize aptitude and general studies because the latter can significantly impact the final score. Go into great detail on subjects like ethics, environmental science, current affairs, and project management fundamentals. Technical Knowledge: Expand on your comprehension of fundamental engineering concepts. Put an emphasis on methods for solving problems and real-world implementations of theoretical ideas. Personality Development: Focus on your body language, communication abilities, and general awareness in preparation for the interview stage. To gain confidence, take part in role-playing interviews and group discussions.
In a brief An esteemed and fulfilling profession in the Indian government can be obtained through passing the ESE exam. It requires commitment, careful planning, and a solid grasp of technical principles. Even though the path may appear difficult, ambitious engineers can land a job in the prestigious Indian Engineering Services with the correct strategy and tenacity. Recall that passing the ESE exam offers the chance to serve the country and further its progress in addition to a secure and prestigious profession.
