Are you ready for Microsoft’s new email sending rules?
The tech giant will soon require email authentication, following Google and Yahoo in their efforts to create safer inboxes.
Here’s what you need to know.

Hey some advice for work: If you are a dealing with someone in a customer service position, do not ask them "Hey, every time we talk you sound frustrated with me. Why is that?" There's no good answer the customer service person can give. Like, the answer is you have taken seven emails, several of them mislabeled, to send me 40+ attachments for a process that (according to your own words!) should have only required 12 attachments. I have had to manually go through each document multiple times. Yes I am frustrated because I handle this paperwork for dozens of people every day and it usually takes less than 5 minutes and we are going on the second hour of this. What I ended up saying was "I'm from California. We just sound like this"

The stupid library gave me a fine of 1 euro because I couldn’t pick up the book I had requested in August and put on hold since like September when it showed up in the catalogus, which finally came in the day after Christmas, meaning I was out of town at my parents and couldn’t pick it up and to make matters worse someone else has borrowed it now

I love when people email just like they talk and you can hear the email in their voice.
I email like an unfriendly alien who learned about the exclamation mark once 5 years ago and never moved on.

One day I'm going to do what I've been threatening for a couple of years now and write a guide for drag producers about how to make their casting applications more neurodivergent friendly.

I love being forced to back up my industry knowledge because my coworker insists on taking a cis man’s word over my own.
There are certain restrictions on how a government office can and cannot communicate starting about 100 days before the election. We cannot send out mass mailers, for example, even if those mailers are about an upcoming grant deadline for a community block grant. We can, however, mail someone a consumer complaint form if they ask for it to be mailed to them.
The state does not want people to accidentally misconstrue official state activities with campaign activities. So we also could not go door-to-door with brochures on the Department of Aging’s Community Care Program.
There is essentially a ban on solicitations, but not a ban on any government activity. So, we can have a booth at a community event and display—as opposed to hand out and solicit—info on government programs.
A different manager of a different office told my colleague that they had been told by the communications department that we cannot HAND OUT—as in, hand deliver door-to-door or pass out en masse—brochures. My colleague has now stopped me from handing—literally physically providing upon asked—people necessary information on government programs because of this. Because “hand out” can mean many things and without an official memo, people interpret it differently.
I have been in this industry for eleven years now. I know the difference between HAND OUT and handing.

The "accounts that don't comply" thing is what's getting me. Like yeah they're deleting entire fandoms (from an archive) and not telling the authors about it, not emailing or warning everyone, but also you get banned if you don't "comply" by... deleting them first. To... save them the trouble, I guess...? You should comply with something they didn't ask you to do? As part of a move they told you nothing about? And banning people who don't know about this and don't do it would be... helpful to AO3 in some way?
I've seen lazy hoaxes but jesus christ.

THIS IS NOT REAL. If you get this comment, they’re just trying to get you to delete your fic.
1) I would have gotten some kind of email from Ao3 if this was true
2) this comment is formatted to be perfect to tack onto any fic they choose
3) ALSO why on earth would Ao3 get rid of entire fandoms off the site? Even if they WERE inactive? Who knows if others will be ‘late’ to the fandom and want some fic to read. Who knows if someone wants to come back to their 6 year old account only to find most of their fics deleted.
I’m lucky to be a reasonable adult who has seen tricks like these who also had a very kind person comment their own doubts.
Please let your Ao3 friends know <3
