A Journey to KGSP/GKS: Application Forms
I decided to write A Journey to KGSP/GKS series based on my experience as KGSP awardee in 2016. Just like other awardees, I also received a lot of chats and DMs from people asking about KGSP/GKS applications. It’s not that I’m tired and annoyed by answering the same questions over and over again, that I decided to post it online, really. That is practically what I’ve been doing in the past four years which, at some points during my student life in Korea, turned out to help me cope with the situation and keep me on track as I was reminded how far I had come.
Just recently I changed my mind to write and post it online so anyone can read it and I myself can re-read it (for whatever reasons), after joining in a mentorship program (supported by the Indonesian Student Association in South Korea aka Perpika) as a mentor for the Indonesian students and graduates who are interested in studying in Korea and preparing for the scholarship application. I mentored a similar program from MITI Klaster Mahasiswa back in 2017 called Youth Connection but I guess at the time I wasn’t feeling okay enough to share it. Now that I graduated safe and sound, I guess posting it online won’t hurt. So, this is the second post of my ‘A Journey to KGSP/GKS’ series, and I’ll try to post the next ones as soon as possible.

As I’ve mentioned in my previous post about my journey to KGSP/GKS, I decided to go for this scholarship application the second I learned about this program. One of my thoughts at the time is how simple the application looks. And it is indeed simple, at least for me who had never applied for such a program and dealing with forms in English. The guideline also states everything clearly. Of course, I got a lot of help from KGSP/GKS awardees I met online who were very kind to share their experience. But, I tried to do my share as much as possible by doing my research on the Internet in advance, making sure I didn’t irritate them by asking trivial questions I can easily access on the Internet or even the application guideline, and avoiding the questions which are more on self-preference, such as “Is it okay if my recommendation letter is folded?”
KGSP/GKS-G (for graduate) and KGSP/GKS-U (for undergraduate) Application Forms are all over the Internet. It can be downloaded from various sites, such as Study in Korea, Korean Embassy sites, some Korean university sites, and Topik Guide. Along with the application guideline is a separate file of the application forms (although the complete guideline includes the forms as well), University Information, and FAQs files. These are the first reference and ammunition that no single applicant should ever miss. You might have your sister as a KGSP/GKS awardee and you can easily ask every single detail, but really, that kind of mentality will get in your way someday. So, go get the guideline and read it! (Sorry, I’m being too enthusiast here.)
Thankfully, the application forms stay pretty the same over the years. Minor changes might have been done as well as the regulation changes. But, it does not affect that much to the application procedures, thus making it easy for the applicants to prepare the applications way way way earlier even before the opening period. And that’s what I did back then. I downloaded the application guidelines from the previous years and noticed that the forms stayed the same, so I started to practice filling in the forms and prepare for the required documents.
The first part of the application forms includes the application checklist. Depending on the program you apply to, either Undergraduate or Graduate Degrees, the required documents are slightly different. The application checklist for the Graduate Degree Programs consists of all required documents for three different degree programs (i.e., Master’s, Doctoral, and Research Programs) so the list is a little bit longer. As for the Undergraduate application, three types of documents are required for certain documents (graduation certificate, transcripts, certificate of citizenship, and awards). I might be wrong on this since I had no experience in preparing for the undergraduate application, but here is what I understand about the difference between the original, official notarized translation, and copied documents.
2021 GKS Application checklist (above: Undergraduate; below: Graduate)
The original document, like its name, is the original version of a document that can be written in many different languages depending on the country where it is issued. For Indonesian applicants, the original document of the graduation certificate is the one written in Bahasa Indonesia. In case an applicant only has one copy of the original document, they can submit the certified copy version which is the copy of the original document certified/stamped by the issuing institution (e.g., school). In Bahasa Indonesia, it’s called dokumen legalisir.
Since all documents have to be written in either Korean or English, here comes the second type of the documents to accompany the original document, official notarized translation. As for the graduation/degree certificate and transcripts, some schools might provide the English translation. Otherwise, an applicant needs to have it translated into Korean or English by a sworn translator. From here, the document has to be legalized again by the notary. In the end, the official notarized translation should be a document written in Korean or English and should have 2-3 different stamps: issuing institution, (translating institution), and notary stamps. The last is the copied document which is the photocopied version (black-and-white document).
The number of copies submitted depends on the application track. For those applying via University Track, they should send only the original/certified copy of the documents to the university of their choice. As the screening process is taken place in Korea, the documents should be the very best legalized version. For countries that require apostille version of the document such as Indonesia, some documents (degree certificate, transcripts, proof of citizenship) have to be apostilled or receive the consular confirmation from the Korean Embassy in the country where the document is issued.
Notes for my Indonesian fellows, here is the procedure to get the documents apostilled: legalized by the notary >> Ministry of Law and Human Rights (Kemenkumham) >> Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Kemenlu) >> (Korean) Embassy.
If applying via the Korean Embassy, one original/certified copy document, one official notarized translation, and three photocopied documents have to be prepared. Apparently, some Korean Embassies, including the Korean Embassy in Indonesia, may apply different regulations. Korean Embassy in Indonesia requires the applicants to send only one copy of the original document and the copies will be made by the Embassy.
The next part of the application forms is the applicant’s personal information, which is considerably easy to be filled in. As for the applicant’s name, some who do not have a separate family name may find it confusing at first, like in most cases of Indonesians. In such cases, simply write the same as your passport name: first name and middle name (if any) as the given name and last name as surname. For the university and major choices for graduate degrees, some confusions come from the differences between Division, Department, and Major. The best way to solve this is by referring to the University Information file, on the list of majors offered. As for the grades/GPA, use the CGPA conversion table on the guideline to convert various grading systems. If the CGPA conversion table does not apply for the grading system of the applicant’s school, the information on how to do the conversion should be attached.
Applicant’s Personal Information (above: Undergraduate; below: Graduate)
For awards and published papers, I believe there is no limit number but I personally mentioned the best two. You may want to mention the rest, if they are quite significant for you, in the Personal Statement. For published papers written in language other than Korean or English, the original title and other details (e.g., journal name) can be mentioned first, followed by the English title in parentheses.
The next forms to be filled are Personal Statement and Statement of Purpose/Study Plan. Instructions have been provided clearly on each part, so I believe it comes back to the applicant’s writing ability to come up with the best way of storytelling which hopefully will impress the reviewers. I have made a post for some tips to write Personal Statement and Statement of Purpose/Study Plan based on my experience.
Recommendation letters are another important required document for KGSP/GKS applications. An applicant should receive two recommendation letters from two recommenders. The letter template has been prepared in the application, but the recommenders may attach their own template. Just make sure that they understand what points should be included and that everything should be written in either Korean or English. This letter is confidential, so you may want to clarify beforehand as to who will translate the document if your recommender writes it in other languages.
The last is self-medical assessment/personal medical assessment which is a brief medical history of the applicant. It can be filled in independently by the applicant without going to the hospital or any healthcare center and should be filled in all honesty because you shouldn’t let any wrong information stated in the application forms get in your way in the later selection process of the medical check-up where pretty much everything will be revealed.

What is the Finnlo-focused Multiship Anthology?
The FFMA aims to build a positive awareness in fandom about the multi-shipping community, celebrate Finnlo-focused ships, and develop the skills and interests of Star Wars fandom writers, artists, and supporters of smaller ships while having fun and sharing ideas respectfully.
We are a diverse group of Star Wars fans. What we have in common is our tolerance of multi-shipping and multi-shippers, and our interest in Finnlo-focused ships including OT3s, OT4s, and OT5s!
We have a Discord for participants and non-participants of the annual projects to brainstorm, share ideas and resources, seek advice or just talk and goof about Finnlo-focused topics in general. We published our first anthology of writing and art in 2019. You can view it here!
How do I submit an outline?
Please use this Google Form to outline your idea for either fic or art. If you experience any problems with this process, please contact us. We’re here to help and we don’t want to put you off by forcing you to articulate something you haven’t made yet. We know it can be tricky sometimes!
Can I depict dark themes or grey themes?
Yes, as long as you tag your work (we can help you with this or offer advice on appropriate tags if you are unsure) and as long as you treat the characters and ships with respect.
Can I write or draw NSFW?
Heck yes!
Can I depict Finn and Kylo/Ben as friends only or just on the same side?
Yep!
Can I depict Finn and Kylo/Ben as enemies?
Also, yes!
What does ‘with respect’ mean in terms of writing characters and portraying their relationships?
‘With respect’ basically means we will not support depictions of racist tropes in regards to the character of Finn, or support shaming with regards to depicting homosexuality, bisexuality/pansexuality, transsexuality, or polyamorous relationships.
Is this project selective? / Do you only select a certain number of applicants?
No way! We accept everyone and all outlines so long as they meet the project aims. However, if your outline is in breach of ‘with respect’ we will contact you and discuss the issue with you, towards developing an outline that is more suited to our guidelines, keeping in mind we want to build this community up and not exclude people.
What can’t I write or draw?
We will not support the depiction of racist, sexist, or queerphobic tropes. That’s it. Everything else is good to go!
What won’t be published?
We will not publish untagged dark themes (e.g. non-con, graphic depictions of violence, or the death of unredeemed characters) or untagged grey themes (e.g. dub-con, evil!Finn or evil!Kylo).
Can I contribute more than one thing?
Of course! Just remember to submit a new outline for each different thing you plan to make so that we can keep track of what everyone is doing. If you’re unsure, please ask.
Can I make a comic or a moodboard / meme?
Yes!
Do fics need to be of a certain length or within a certain word count?
Completed fics can be anywhere between 200 - 30,000 words.
I don’t usually write M/M. Can I still contribute?
Yes! You don’t have to ship the characters romantically to contribute to this project. And you can publish Anon if you want to.
Can I join your Discord?
Sure! DM or reply to this post and we will send you an invite to join. The only thing we ask of you in return is that you tolerate the idea of multi-shipping. We do not tolerate ship hate.
Why do I have to submit a draft? What does ‘developing our work/skills’ mean?
We have mini-deadlines in place along the way to help you get the work finished in time.
When you submit work in progress, if you want we can provide some targeted help like beta-ing, plot sense, a bit of technical feedback etc., but only if you ask for that sort of feedback; we will never give any unsolicited feedback on any draft material submitted unless what is submitted is in breach of guidelines or ‘with respect’. We will always ask you what kind of feedback you want. We may however ask clarifying questions about draft material.
We do ask that writers be open to reading each other’s fics as a way to share the load and further the existing finnlo-focused multi-shipping community.
The mods will do the bulk of the beta work but at times we may need a little extra help with this. We are seeking a third mod. DM if interested!
Once finished work is submitted:
Finished fics may be edited for consistency in spelling/grammar.
Art will be reproduced to the highest res possible given that we format the PDF in word-processing software for distribution online, so you may lose some res but we’ll do our best!
Fics and art will be uploaded to AO3 by the creators, or by the mods if a creator doesn’t have an AO3 account.
Come rain, hail or Sheev, the PDF will release on September 30. The AO3 collection will go live one week after that. Mods reserve the right not to publish any material that doesn’t comply with our guidelines on tagging or ‘with respect’.

Get a grade 9 in a language GCSE!
Please note:
1. These tips are almost entirely applicable to any AQA language at GCSE. 2. Modern Foreign Languages at GCSE Level is anywhere from A2 to B1 (dependant on the tier and grade) on the CEFR scale, but, there is no official equivalent.
In November 2018, whilst in Year 10, my teacher saw that I was excelling in French, with my extensive knowledge of tenses and idioms. So, she proposed that I’d do the January mocks, alongside Year 11, despite not knowing more than half of the subject content. Then we’d see where I’d go from there.
I followed the AQA exam board, higher paper. Specification. You can find the Kerboodle textbook I used, here.
Here’s what I did:
Throughout the year, I was also studying the Year 10 content (Theme 1 - Identity and culture) in class.
In my own time, each month I’d cover one or two units, completing the more challenging activities on each page of the textbook. Luckily, each unit was only 4 double-page spreads long.
In January I completed my mocks. This was the first time I had ever sat in an exam hall, so it was really daunting to be doing it with a bunch of kids who were older than me, even though I knew I had enough knowledge. Overall, I got a secure grade 8, in my mocks, despite not knowing half of the course content.
I also did “pre-exam mocks”, two weeks before each exam. These consisted of specimen papers which are notoriously harder, so my results looked almost exactly the same as past papers, which was upsetting as I couldn’t see that I’d actually improved. But practice is practice!
MY ACTUAL GCSE RESULT:
With a lot of work. I managed to achieve a grade 9 (the top mark, higher than an A*), which was insane. I’m so, so proud of myself, and grateful for all of the teachers that supported me!!!

LISTENING
In my opinion, listening is based purely on practice and knowing the exam technique that works for you.
To practice:
frenchpod101 intermediate listening comprehension
Going through every specimen track and listening activity I could find - pausing it after each sentence, saying it once in French, then translating it into English. I’d do this in the shower, on the way to school, wherever.
Know your vocab!
My exam technique:
In the 5 minutes reading time: underline keywords and themes in the questions. This time goes very quickly, but I’d also try to jot down a few synonyms in the French section too.
Multiple choice questions: the process of elimination; key vocab; negative and positive tonality and opinion words - watch out for negative structures!
Completing the sentences: note down words said in French or translate each sentence into English in your head, then remember it when it comes to writing it down.
French section: fill each sentence with key French words that you hear. Don’t worry about accents, unless it helps you determine the word.
Remember each track plays twice.
READING
The January Mock: I didn’t know much of the course content, so I struggled with the translation. I also circled and placed a question mark near any words I didn’t know, as it was a mock and my teacher would be able to note down any translations for me. I think what boosted my grade, to a 9 for this paper, was knowledge of grammar.
T/F/NM questions are usually a gamble. Just look for explicit information and know your negative formations.
Texts change their minds often: look out for counter-arguments and opposing exclamations
Use the method of elimination for multiple choice: rule out if there’s no mention. Be wary that a text can mention an option, but say it wasn’t that.
Texts often refer to things mentioned prior.
If you know a certain type of texts are your kryptonite (it was the classical stories with dialogue, for me), then download as many of that genre as you can. Understand the way speech and dialogue works, and the structure, before you tackle the vocab.
Many say skim read and don’t read the whole thing, but I found it easier to translate big chunks in my head as I went along and lightly annotate each text, which just comes with practice.
WRITING
Top tip: don’t go any more than 10% over word limits!!!!!!! Teachers say they have to mark all of it - no they don’t. If you do double the word limit, your last few bullet points could come after the cut-off point, cutting off access to half of the marks!!!
90 WORD - 99 words maximum! About 20-25 words per bullet point.
150 WORD - 165 words maximum! About 75 words per bullet point.
Which brings me to mention, that you must cover every bullet point: those are your content marks, which cover about half the marks of each question.
90 WORD Question (16 marks)
Content - 10 marks: Making sure your writing covers each bullet point enough.
Quality of Language - 6 marks: Using interesting vocabulary, such as “malheureusement”.
Stick to about one page.
If you’re giving an opinion, great, just stop there. If you explain it too much, you risk going over your word limit.
150 WORD Question (32 marks)
Content - 15 marks: Every. Bullet. Point. Detailed.
Range of Language - 12 marks: get in those adjectives, idioms and grammatical structures!
Accuracy - 5 marks: correct basic tense conjugations (present, past, future simple/future proche)
In order to hit all of these I came up with a mnemonic checklist, and it scored me full marks in a specimen paper I did for my teacher! And I made it into a cute phone background, so I’d start to remember it, I still can now, hehe! You can find it here. If that doesn’t work, then download it here.
SPEAKING
Know your question words! (x)
For the roleplay and photocard, my teacher printed off me a load of practice cards in bulk and annotated two or three every day, using the planning techniques mentioned below.
Roleplay - 2 minutes; can be any theme.
When planning, try to avoid writing out answers, but just keywords and gaps for you to fill in with pronouns or articles etc.
Keep it brief, one sentence per bullet point, but cover each part of each bullet point.
Photo card - 3 minutes (aim to speak for at least 2).
Plan with a small spider-diagram of nouns, opinions, anecdotes etc. for each known question.
Use one or two prepped anecdotes for the prepared questions - e.g. where you went last year, who with, what you did.
For the unknown questions, keep it short and sweet and fill up any time with opinions and reasoning.
General conversation - 5-7 minutes.
Lie and make up stories! Be creative and use the words and structures you know.
I was a little extra and I prepared every theme as flashcards. You can’t get away with only revising your chosen theme!
I made flashcards that could cover several types of questions: I had bullet points of topics and keywords on one side and a sample paragraph on the other.
Pretty sure I made about 80 flashcards oops.
I also went through the mark scheme and see which areas I could secure marks in and which areas I needed to improve.
VOCAB
Learning vocab is SO important!
I started by making spreadsheets of jumbled word lists from the specification and doing a colour-coded match up.
You can access a pdf of all of the vocab grids here. There might be the odd word missing due to copy-pasting errors, but if so, don’t stress, just look it up in a dictionary and note it down - sorry in advance!!!
Then with the vocab that I had to look up in a dictionary, I added to a Quizlet and wrestled it into my noggin.

GRAMMAR
To me, learning tenses was like learning formulae for maths. So find a way to learn rules like that, if it’s easier for you.
e.g. Conditional Tense = subject + (future/conditional stem + imperfect ending)*
*note that future stems are the same as conditional stems.
Know your DRMRSPVANDERTRAMP verbs, and their past participles. These verbs go with ÊTRE and always agree with the subject.
Know your auxiliary and irregular verbs.
MUST KNOW: avoir, être, aller, faire, vouloir
HELPFUL: devoir, pouvoir, vivre, boire, voir, dire, savoir
OTHERS: mettre, prendre, venir, écrire, lire, recevoir
I learnt these by making flashcards, and then brain dumping them on paper over and over again until they stuck - my teacher thought I was insane, madly scribbling away.
Memorise some key structures that can be used in writing and speaking.

MISC TIPS
Always write notes about improvements and errors in practice papers and mocks.
Find a native french internet friend.
In my opinion, music, movies and TV shows aren’t great for revision. However, if you begin to understand them, they are a great confidence boost.
I highly recommend the Skam France series, which you can find with and without les sous-titres (subtitles) here.

Hello hello, come one come all! It’s time for a new application process!
This time we’re looking to expand our admin team! We’ll be opening applications for the following roles:
Technical
Communications
General Upkeep
Technical
Our technical admin must be adept at tasks such as coding, theme maintenance, discord upkeep, and anything else of that nature that may be necessary. Your main duties will include updating the blog as needed (I.e. making changes to the members page) and making sure our discord server is running smoothly. You’ll also get the main privileges all admins get which is access to the blog, rights to answer dms and asks, and moderate discussion between members.
Communications
Our communications admin will be responsible for keeping a top eye on all of our chats and making sure all members are abiding by the chat rules set. You’ll also be first to be called on for moderation should a member use the chat safe word and be responsible for resolving that issue. On top of this you’ll be responsible before other admins for checking the blog regularly to make sure any asks or messages we get are being answered promptly and any relevant information is being passed on to the rest of the admin team.
Queueing Mod
As our queueing mod, your job is as simple as it sounds. Make sure the queue runs smoothly and consistently. This role may be more time consuming in that you’d be responsible for making sure everything is tagged fully and accurately, especially fics which need to be read to properly tag for content and warnings. You’ll also get the main privileges all admins get which is access to the blog, rights to answer dms and asks, and moderate discussion between members.
Please, if you’re at all interested in any of these positions, apply and don’t be afraid to reach out if you have any further questions! This application will stay up until all roles have been filled.

The Revolt of the Poor
In the folklore created by commercialism to calm the masses or The Revolt of the Poor, the misconception of copyright stands apart.
It goes like this: if the rights to copyright were not specified and implemented, business owners would not have actually handled the dangers related to publishing books, taping records, and preparing multimedia items.
As a result, imaginative individuals will have suffered since they will have discovered no chance to make their works available to the general public. Eventually, it is the general public that pays the cost of piracy, goes the refrain.
However, this is factually false. In the U.S.A. there is a really minimal group of authors who really live by their pen. Just choose artists to eke out a living from their loud occupation (the majority of the rock stars who own their labels – George Michael needed to battle Sony to do simply that) and really a couple of stars come close to obtaining subsistence-level earnings from their occupation.
All these can no longer be considered a lot of innovative individuals. Required to protect their copyright rights and the interests of Big Money, Madonna, Michael Jackson, Schwarzenegger, and Grisham are business owners a minimum of as much as they are artists.
Financially and reasonably, we need to anticipate that the more expensive artwork is to produce and the narrower its market – the more highlighted its copyright rights.
Think about a publishing house.
A book that costs 50,000 DM to produce with a prospective audience of 1000 buyers (specific scholastic texts resemble this) – would need to be priced at a minimum of 100 DM to recover just the direct expenses.
If unlawfully copied (therefore diminishing the possible market as some individuals will choose to purchase the more affordable unlawful copies) – its cost would need to go up excessively to recover expenses, therefore eliminating possible purchasers.
If a book costs 10,000 DM to produce and is priced at 20 DM a copy with a prospective readership of 1,000,000 readers, the story is various. Piracy (unlawful copying) should, in this case, be quicker endured as a minimal phenomenon.
This is the theory. However, the truths are tellingly various. The less the expense of production (reduced by digital innovations) – the fiercer the fight versus piracy. The larger the marketplace – the more pressure is applied to clamp down on samizdat business owners.
Federal governments, from China to Macedonia, are presenting copyright laws (under pressure from abundant world nations) and imposing them belatedly. However, where one factory is closed onshore (as has actually held true in mainland China) – 2 grow overseas (as holds true in Hong Kong and in Bulgaria).

Populating your graph in Amazon Neptune from a relational database using AWS Database Migration Service (DMS) – Part 1: Setting the stage
As enterprises grow and data and performance needs increase, purpose-built databases have become the new way to tackle specific data access patterns. Modeling and querying highly connected datasets on a traditional relational database can be performance intensive, and expressing relational-style queries against these datasets can be challenging. Graph databases like Amazon Neptune provide a new means for storing and querying highly connected datasets quickly and at massive scale. To access the insights in your data using this technology, you first need to model the data as a graph. Often, the data exists across the enterprise in existing relational databases. Converting relational data structures to graph models can be complex and involve constructing and managing custom extract, transform, and load (ETL) pipelines. AWS Database Migration Service (AWS DMS) can manage this process efficiently and repeatably, whether you’re migrating a full application to Neptune or only copying a subset of your relational data for graph-specific use cases. In this four-part series, we cover how to translate a relational data model to a graph data model using a small dataset containing airports and the air routes that connect them. Part one discusses the source data model and the motivation for moving to a graph model. We discuss this for the labeled property graph in part two and for the Resource Description Framework (RDF) data model in part three. In part four, we show how to use AWS DMS to copy data from a relational database to Neptune for both graph data models. Setting the stage Before addressing the mechanics of using AWS DMS to copy data from a relational store to Neptune, it’s important to understand the different data models we use in this post: relational models and graph models. Relational models Relational models store data in a tabular format, in which records are stored as rows with a primary key along with other columns containing additional dimensional data. Relationships between tables are modeled via foreign key relationships, in which the first table holds the primary key uniquely identifying the corresponding row in another table. In a relational database application, these relationships are materialized at query time in the form of joins within SQL queries. Graph models Graph databases model data as a set of vertices that may be connected to other vertices by edges. Vertices typically represent entities like people, places, and things—or for our use case, airports and countries. You can further describe vertices with attributes. Edges define relationships between vertices, like a route between two airports. As with entities, relationships may have additional details that can be modeled. The technique used to model attributes of relationships is different depending on the type of graph model you use. Neptune supports two different graph models: Labeled property graph – Often referred to simply as a property graph, this model is supported via compatibility with the Apache TinkerPop project and the Gremlin traversal language. Resource Description Framework – The World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) recommendation Resource Description Framework model (RDF) is also supported, along with the SPARQL query language. Although many similarities and overlaps exist in the two graph models, there are differences in the approach to modeling and the mechanics of querying the model after it has been created. Selection of the target graph technology depends on your particular use case and the kinds of questions that you want the model to help you answer. Property graph model In a property graph, data is organized as vertices and edges. Each of these have unique IDs and labels, which can be thought of as a type, or class. Vertices model “things” and edges model relationships between those things. Vertices and edges may have properties that further describe them. You can explore property graphs on Neptune using the Gremlin graph traversal language. Traversals make it easy and efficient to find answers to questions such as: What are the air routes from Seattle (SEA) to Wellington (WLG)? What is the minimum number of stops needed to get from Seattle (SEA) to Agra (AGR)? These kinds of questions can be much more difficult to answer using a relational database. RDF model In RDF, data is organized as a series of statements in the form of triples. A triple, as the name implies, consists of three parts: a subject, a predicate, and an object—just like a sentence. We model the subject as an RDF Schema (RDFS) resource represented by a unique identifier called an Internationalized Resource Identifier (IRI). IRIs look very similar to web URLs. Predicates are modeled as RDF properties and are also represented by IRIs. IRIs are often abbreviated with a QName, a shorthand with a standard prefix and local name separated by a colon, such as rdf:type. Unlike the property graph model, a property doesn’t directly hold any attributes. You can use several approaches to model property attributes in an RDF graph. For this post, we show one common option. RDF graphs are queried using SPARQL. You can use RDF graphs to build knowledge graphs that integrate enterprise data across data silos or use external data such as that found in DBpedia, a knowledge graph built from Wikipedia. You can use SPARQL to find insights and build new graphs on the fly. A knowledge graph using our sample dataset can enable us to: Gain insight into a problem space and create new relationships within that space Integrate data across sources to build new knowledge and insight Relational to graph data model translation In this section, we look at how to map our source relational data to each graph model. Migrating a relational data source to Neptune with AWS DMS has several steps. It’s important first to plan the data models and build the mapping files. Relational model In this post, we use a relational database containing airports and the air routes between them as our source data. In non-technical terms, the database contains information like the following: Wellington International Airport is located in New Zealand Wellington International Airport has the IATA location identifier WLG New Zealand has the two-character ISO 3166-1 country code NZ The route from Los Angeles International Airport to Auckland International Airport has a distance of 6,512 miles The following entity relationship diagram shows the six tables that comprise the complete source relational database. For this use case, we migrate a subset of our tables to our graph. We show how to select the data that we use later. We can streamline the migration process by specifying only the tables and columns that we need. The three tables we use are COUNTRY, AIRPORT, and ROUTE. COUNTRY Each row of the COUNTRY table holds the data for a single country. It contains columns with a two-character country code and the official name of the country in English. COUNTRY_ID OFFICIAL_NAME COUNTRY_CODE 3510 Australia AU 3596 India IN 3656 New Zealand NZ 3723 United States US AIRPORT Each row of the AIRPORT table holds the data for a single, unique airport entry. It contains several columns, including a unique key, the airport’s official name, its IATA airport code, and a foreign key linking to the country where the airport is located. AIRPORT_ID OFFICIAL_NAME COUNTRY_ID AIRPORT_CODE 12 New York John F. It’s more like a junction table, holding the origin and destination foreign keys to the AIRPORT table that define an airport-to-airport route together with the route length. I say this with certainty but I feel happy lately, for obvious reasons. I've been two weeks binge-free, until today but I'm not sure if today was considered binging or simply just freeing myself from counting calories and eating till contentment. I don't feel sick or overly full, just sluggish from the carb overload but I think that's normal. You know what, I'm just going to deem today as NOT a binge day but a free day of eating. I don’t remember the last time I’ve written, possibly early June perhaps but since then so much has happened. I got two jobs, Supre and The Trybe and damn am I so excited for The Trybe. I still can’t believe that I was one of few successful applicants who got hired. It’s crazy how much I underestimated myself. I mean I didn’t think I did horrible but I wasn’t very confident with either. My mindset for both was very ‘go with the flow’, if I get it GREAT and if I don’t, I guess I’ll keep applying. Today I felt incredibly stressed about which job I was going to keep. I’m bored of JB but shifts are flexible and plus it’s such a chill environment and the managers are so supportive. I’ll also miss the crew so much if I left and plus it’s a super easy and comfortable job. For that reason I don’t plan to quit, I know I’ll definitely keep JB so now I have to choose between Supre and The Trybe. So this is my plan, I’ll sign the contract for both, work both and PRAY that the shifts don’t clash and while I’m working both these new jobs, I’ll have to go on leave at JB. Doesn’t sound like the most promising plan but it’s the best one I’ve got. I’ll never know which one I prefer if I don’t try both. I really didn’t think I’d get both offers, that’s what’s so crazy to me. I feel like so many things are going right in my life right now. I got an ongoing volunteer position at Second Chance Animal Rescue and my goodness are the dogs so frickin cute. I feel secure in my friendships and most importantly, I feel content in the way I look and how I’m going about eating and losing weight. I haven’t lost any weight since my let binge day 2 weeks ago but the fact that I’m okay with that and that I’m consistent with continuing to track what I eat, not letting the fact that I haven’t lost any weight get me down is honestly such a HUGE thing for me. Two years ago, I’d wake up, stand on the scales and if the number didn’t drop I’d binge eat, but I haven’t done that in 14 days. As with my appearance, of course I’m not at the point where I fully love the way I look. I wonder if I’ll ever even get to that point? What I mean by ‘feeling content with my looks’ is that I’ve had a number of days where I simply felt pretty and even confident. For a few consecutive nights I’ve started watching videos from Youtubers Thatssoyin and Christine Le. Ever since then I’ve played around with make-up more. I’ve attempted to apply eyeshadow after 2 years, followed their tutorials and enhanced my base make-up application, started using falsies and wearing lipstick and because of all that I feel pretty more often.
So there’s something else I wanted to get off my chest, something that I’ve been very insecure and embarrassed about feeling but it has to be let out in order for me to move past it. I feel like in the last two months I’ve made such great progress in terms of confidence, happiness, getting to know who I am, not comparing myself to others and loving myself whole-heartedly, but there has been one incidence that has kind of resurfaced that I thought I had already worked on and moved past from. So I have this co-worker who I’ll name A. So A is a year younger than me, really pretty, the hot kind of pretty that turns heads. She’s slim-fit, tanned, strong features, has a constant RBF, and dresses in a body-flattering way. A always tells me how many guys slide into her DMs, ask her for sexual favours, hit on her, add her on social media, try to get with her at social events, etc. I’ve worked with her for a total of 7-8 months now and in that span of time she’s literally introduced about 15-20 guys who she’s dating/dated. Frickinnn give me three years and I’ll only have one interesting guy to talk about, two if I’m lucky. Anyway the topic of her and boys comes up so often that I’m literally like “do we even talk about anything else?”. Don’t get me wrong, our friendship is not completely one-sided, she’s one of the few at work who I’m able to talk about my life with (I guess) which is rare since I never do that with pretty much everyone. I’ve been working at JB for over a year and a half and probably ¾ of the store don’t know anything about me. A boasts so much, so much to the point where I’m starting to slowly resent her for it. Here’s the thing, I don’t know if I’m slowly starting to resent her because I’m slightly jealous or because I’m genuinely sick of it. Part of me knows that I feel insecure when she talks about how many guys want her because I’m not able to relate at all. Like NO (absolutely zero) guys give me attention. If I really had to delve down and figure out why I would say 80% of it is the fact that I’m genuinely so tired of having the same conversations with her. Like yeah a customer thinks you’re hot and wants your number but this has happened about four different times and I know this because you’ve told me so like what’s ya point? I just don’t want to be an insecure, envious teenage girl you know. I thought those days were in the past and that I had outgrown them but I have to remind myself that it’s not jealousy that’s driving our distancing friendship. I’m honestly so exhausted of hyping her up. She sometimes tells me accounts like their nothing. Like if what you just told me happened to me, I would be overjoyed, I don’t get why she just drops what to me is considered exciting news like they don’t mean anything. The other day she casually told me “I have an interview with Rebel Sport”. This was around the time that I was struggling to get a call back for any jobs that I applied for online, not to mention the fact that I applied for that exact same job and didn’t even get a call back. My point is, she just boasts so much, about all these guys that want her, events that are going on in her life, drama with girls that are apparently ‘jealous’ of her, how her dad pays for everything, etc. and it’s getting to a point where I’m like PLEASE STOP TALKING! I feel like the reason why it’s so hard for me to get close to people is because very few want to get to know me. A lot of relationships I’ve formed have been one-sided and it’s honestly so mentally-draining to entertain these kinds of bonds. If everyone would just understand that it’s not that hard to ASK other people questions instead of talk about themselves all day I’d be best friends with literally everybody. It’s as easy as “how have you been?” and “anything new in your life?”. I’m tired of A greeting me and the first thing she says is “I’m mad at [insert the name of the guy she’s seeing here if there even is JUST ONE]” or “my psycho ex-best friend did this”. I’m always gonna care about the stories she has to tell me, it’s in my nature but I’m giving her advice, helping her when she’s down but she just keeps throwing herself in the same position which obviously means that she’s gonna get hurt AGAIN. Do you get why I’m so done with it and the fact that it’s not just jealousy? When I bring up what’s been going on in my life she couldn’t care less and that’s unfair. I told her that I was successful in getting a one-on-one interview with The Trybe and she’s like “congrats!”. I do genuinely think she was happy for me in the moment but she didn’t seem to have any interest in talking about it any further. I remember talking about job interviews and offers with her and she ended up turning it back on herself. She’s honestly easy to get along with, humourous and kind but shes considerate in unimportant ways like when she offers to get you a coffee. I wouldn’t call her selfish because she isn’t, just more immature I guess. I think to an extent she’s use to things being about her.
Ok so the next story also includes A but it involves another person too. Let’s call him B (hahaha I’m so original). So B started working at our store about a month before A did. They were both Christmas casuals. Before B started working at the store I remember I felt low-key desperate for JB to hire a cute Asian boy. And weirdly somehow that came true. I remember the first time I met B. it was during semester two’s exam period, I came in with my black hoodie and leggings looking like absolute trash because I had gained weight from stress-eating, I walked in and saw him walk out from the back room with a name tag on before the store opened. Before I could even process the thought that he was cute, I automatically just shook his hand, introduced myself and continued walking. Apparently he started a while ago but we never had any shifts together. I thought he was super cute, cool-looking, he seemed awkward as well and I kinda dug that. Then that day, I went home and stalked him on Instagram and found out that he had a girlfriend. Any plan I had in regards to getting close to him, going out of my way to talk to him and getting to know him was thrown out the window because of that. I mean if he already had a girlfriend, there was no point in crushing on him. From then on (literally only took 24 hours) I only saw him as a co-worker and I told myself that if a friendship was gonna form it would form naturally and have maintained that thought ever since. Anyway B recently broke up with his girlfriend of 3 years. Last Friday I noticed he looked quite sad when he approached me and so I asked him twice if he was okay and if anything was wrong. A was there at the time that I asked him too. As he walked off he told me that he and his girlfriend broke up and I thought he was lying because they seemed so happy together on social media and plus she was his lock-screen. I thought they were really into each other and so why would they randomly choose not to be together? Anyway Friday was a lil cray at JB. At one point in particular I was alone at the counter on the phone with Latitude and the line grew so long, all the customers were angrily watching me wondering why they weren’t being served and some guy even gave me the “WTF!”, impatient hand gesture. I paged for assistance so many times and was wondering why A wasn’t coming out to help me out. 20 minutes later I asked my manager where A was because she was gone for a while, at one point nobody was being served and she wasn’t there to help even though it was HER job to do so. Because she was nowhere to be found I had to deal with backlash from customers and other employees from different departments had to go out of their way to do a job that she was exclusive to. Anyway, after she came back I asked her what happened not in a bossy way just a curious, concerned way because maybe she was on the phone to her parents or she was out of the store. Instead she told me that she was talking to B about his break-up with his girlfriend. I’m not mad about it anymore at all but that night and for a bit the next day I was a bit bitter that she did so. First of all, it’s because of me that she found out that he broke up with his girlfriend in the first place, I don’t think she would have found out directly through him otherwise, and second of all because I wanted to be the one to talk about it with him and to give him any advice when necessary because I recently went through one as well whereas she just strings guys along. B and I have always been so so so awkward whenever we’re alone together. I think because we’re both awkward, alone we just create huge awkward energy. I’m not really close to B personally and so when I found out about the break-up I was thinking that this was my chance to kind of bond with him closely in a platonic way. But A already bet me to it. I heard that she gave him advice and hugged him for it and so now if I ever bring it up with him he’s not going to want to because he already said everything he wanted to say to A. she talked to him during his most vulnerable and so now if I do the same it’ll just seem like I’m prying. Here’s the thing, I know her intentions weren’t bad, if anything they were really noble when she tried to help him. She’s not a bad person for doing so but at the same time I can’t help but be annoyed that she couldn’t just let me have this situation. She has guy 1, guy 2 (who btw also works for us and is cheating on his gf with her), guy 3-to-probably-15 by the sounds of it so I don’t understand why she felt the need to get close to B as well. She bragged about B being able to open up comfortably with her and that she just has this aura where people can talk about their issues with her but she doesn’t realise that I don’t feel like that with her. I always thought that B felt closer to me than A because he found A slightly intimidating but now this will probably bring them closer and he’s only going to want to talk to her at the counter instead of me. She’s also rostered on with him on her next shift which is usually my shift and so any chances I have to talk to him, I’ll have to wait until the week after. It’s petty and silly and I 100% know that this situation has purely arose from jealousy. It’s just frustrating because it’s really hard for me to get close to guys. The one reasonable excuse I have to get close to one who I’m slightly interested in has been taken away from me by someone who practically gets boys at her knees in front of her. I’m not upset about this at all now and I would never hold such a petty situation like this against her, I just wanted to rant about it because it really did annoy me at the time.
But anyway, so many good things have come my way this past month and so I’m going to stop comparing and dwelling on unimportant things. Tumblr has helped me put so much of my faith into fate and destiny. So if I was to get close to B or to anyone else for that matter it’ll happen regardless of who gets in the way. I believe so much in the saying that everything happens for a reason and if it doesn’t happen it wasn’t meant for you. I guess you could say I’m a bit of a dreamer. But I love where fate has brought me so far and I’m going to continue to cherish this happiness. No matter how good someone else’s life seems this blissful feeling and happy feeling is my own.

This is my #6 product review from the Japanese Designer brand MINISO.
OMG, let me just start by saying that you Cheeky Talkers are completely INSATIABLE when it comes to my reviews on MINISO products. Like seriously fam! I have been getting a ton of requests for reviewing more products from this affordable Japanese DESIGNER brand.
And GUESS what? I will be doing a lot more REVIEWS on Miniso but this can take a time to post them. Because this overall process can be a little over the budget as I am buying all of these products from my own money. None of this Miniso product reviews are sponsored by the brand.
So, enough with all these boring talks now let’s move straight to the detailed review of this essence cream by Miniso, shall we?

Name – Miniso Skin Moisturizing Essence Cream
Price – INR 690 for 1.94 oz./ 55g (Kinda High-end)
Packaging – You know what! Today, I will not extensively talk about how CUTE the packaging of Miniso products is but I will just add a lot of pictures for you to see it yourself. And I have to say, that the tub of this cream is made from solid GLASS and is quite heavy. Also, it can be used as a GREAT decor piece for your vanity, you know! BTW let me know if guys will be interested in seeing some behind the scenes…BTS. 🙂
Texture – Folks, I have not added a swatch test for this MINISO cream like a dis with other products. Because I thought it would be an understand statement for this beauty product. As you can see in the pictures that I have clicked (SHOUTOUT for my PHOTOGRAPHY skills) the texture is quite floaty and fluffy in my option. For me, it is a GOOD thing as I always wanted to try out a cream of this consistency.
Application – Because it is an ESSENCE cream you can’t just apply it simply out of the blue. This moisturizing cream should be used as a step in your daily skincare routine which can be difficult for some people to follow including ME. So, in simple words just cleanse your face and tone it down with a toner DUH! Once the dead skin is removed using this essence as a moisturizer for your face. You have the choice to use this product in the morning or night routine or even both, it’s up to your skin.
Performance – Now, here’s the main part of this review. I initially had very HIGH expectations from this baby right here. To be honest, I thought this product will be a miraculous one for me BUT I cannot be label it as the BEST of the best yet. When I tried it adding it my nighttime routine, it didn’t do any stuff for me and caused me to breakout.
And this is NORMAL for me everything doesn’t suit me as I have combination skin type. But then after a couple of days, I used it again in my morning routine and it started showing its results slowly but steadily. By applying this Miniso essence you will get a gradual shine to our face and I love it when my face is all DEWY and shiny. The thing that is a little bit concerning to me is the absorption of the cream which can be tricky for some skin types.
Shelf Life – You will EAT this thing up in a couple of MONTHS like me. (Wink!)
Rating – The CheekyDimplesBlog gives it a SOLID 4 out 5 star ratings.
Do I recommend it? – Actually, I do recommend trying out the high-end skincare range of Miniso BUT for me, I think instead of adding them in my night routine the end results are much better by using them in the morning skincare routine.

Finding or advertising a teaching job on Twitter with #teachingvacancyuk
I have got two of my last three positions by asking on Twitter if anyone wants a traditionalist maths teacher. This hasn’t always worked, but if you have enough followers it might. Generally, however, Twitter is not great for finding employment because while people do tweet adverts or tweet that they are available for work, the tweets are unlikely to be seen by those they want to see them.
What we need is a shared format that can be used by those advertising positions, that can then be easily searched by those looking for positions. I’ve been experimenting with this for a bit and I thought it was time to get this going properly. Some words of warning first.
This idea will only work if a large number of people use it. This means that if it doesn’t work the first time people try it, then people give up, it will fail. If it’s going to work then a good number of people will have to stick with it for a few months, maybe try it for a year. If you are an early adopter, whether that’s an employer or a teacher, you have my warning now, it probably won’t work the first time. Also, we will need to publicise this. Please share this post frequently.
You will need to read the instructions and explanation, rather than copy what you see other people doing. The whole point is to make your job tweets easily found on a search. If you do not get the right search terms, it will not work. “mathematics” and “maths” are the same thing when you read them in a tweet, but employers need to know which one people will be searching for; teachers need to know which one to search for. (It’s “Maths”, by the way).
So here’s how it will work.

To advertise a teaching job on twitter, use the following format:

Here are what all these mean:
#teachingvacancyuk: This is the hashtag people will search for in order to find positions advertised in this format.
One word description: This should be the main feature of the job and is likely to be either the sector (for non subject specialist), the subject (for secondary or FE), or the position (for promoted posts). For consistency pick from this list if possible.

Again, these are to help searching, so just pick whichever region sounds most like where you are. You can pick more than one, it doesn’t have to be precise. Whatever is most likely to be searched for by somebody who could work at your school.
Link to your vacancy: This should be the URL for an advert for your position. It may be to a website linked to publication like the TES or Schools Week, or another jobs website, or it may be on your school website.
By: Closing date for applications: This is not going to be searched for, so put it in whatever format gives the key information. “Get in touch by DM for details” would be fine.
For: Starting date: This is not going to be searched for, so put it in whatever format gives the key information. “As soon as possible” would be fine.
Other Details: This should be anything you think is essential (key stage, type of school, town/city, county/LA, full or part time) but should be as brief as possible and carefully chosen to avoid using words that have any overlap with the words already listed as that will make searching difficult. You are doing two things with the “other” section: encouraging appropriate people to follow the link, and filtering out those who will not be interested. This is what you want people to know before they click the link to your advert. So if you want somebody who can teach A-level, or somebody who can get to Oldham, or China, here’s where it goes.

Just remember, it is all about being searchable. Use the right format for the one word description and the region and try not to add anything that might be searched for by mistake. And, again, please don’t give up if it doesn’t work the first time. It should work eventually, so please keep trying whenever you have a position to advertise.

The odds are that you will not find any appropriate positions the first time you try this. Please don’t give up, keep trying.
