I am trying to embroider capucines on a piece of jean, the ride has been long: after I finished painstakingly applying the first colour I tried to iron the results. But I forgot to put a moist cloth between it and the iron and I melted my threads. I made an ugly stain and had to repair them, we can still see the traces now. I contemplated throwing it away but I’m mid exams so I didn’t want to lose too much time. Also I’m a beginner so I’ll allow myself mistakes.

I have now started applying the second colour, so you can have an evolution in the pictures

Working on a new microcrochet piece, so I thought I'd let you in on how I do it. This is the same method I use for all of my microcrochet work.

I use a 1.00mm hook (shown here next to the hook I usually use for my plushies) and embroidery floss.

I split the embroudery floss in half and use three strands at a time.

I think people look forward to Fall because it gets cooler outside so people come inside, and baking delicious foods happens....Football starts... boots and sweaters are excitedly worn even if it is a little too warm still. So I changed out the wings on my Russian Mezen painting (Мезенская роспись if you want to google it in Russian)  inspired embroidered angel to make them plainer and white.  I think it looks a bit better now although I’d still like to replace the Barbie head with something a little more angelic.  Anyway, as you can see the full embroidered piece at the bottom which I then wrapped into a cone with interfacing on the back to keep it stiff.  Then I stuck Barbie’s head on a stick and cut out some paper wings to insert into the back.  It’s unusual but I love all things Mezen so I’m happy with it.  I’ve run out of time this year, but maybe next year I will embroider wings for it instead of just the plain white.

Man my Joey Janela embroudery turned out really bad so lessons have been learned.

When using a smaller hoop, don’t do too much of an intricate deign (my design was simple but still a lesson learned)

Gotta learn how to better transfer a design since trying to use my ipad as a light box was a fail (maybe carbon paper?)

Don’t use a two string thread doubled since the design is small just double one single thread)

Never ever try to fill a stitch in again (I am terrible at it. Just do a mix media and color it in with marker or something like other people do now)
